1  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Pre-Workout Meal (No not The Meal) on: March 01, 2005, 06:24:37 PM
Pancakes, pancakes, and more pancakes.  Seriously, I get a tremendous amount of energy from eating them, more than any other food laden with carbohydrates.
2  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Is Arrested Development on the Chopping Block? on: February 10, 2005, 07:23:34 PM
Fox usually does cancel good shows, so if it happens it won't be surprising.  But on the other hand, the fact that Arrested Development has lasted over a season on Fox is a surprise in itself.
3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Lightsaber in Kotor 2 on: February 08, 2005, 10:02:09 PM
The pc version ships today.   At least my order from Gogamer did.  Hopefully I should get it Thursday.
4  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Is Whisperwind stable on a consistent basis? (WoW) on: January 30, 2005, 07:54:01 PM
Ironically, Whisperwind was just taken down.  On the plus side, they announced they were shutting the server down so at least it didn't crash and kick everybody off without warning.
5  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Battlestar Galactica on: January 26, 2005, 06:29:44 PM
In fairness to Battlestar Galactica 1980, there was one good episode.  The episode title escapes me, but it dealt with Starbuck's ultimate fate.
Other than that...Motorcycles that could fly?  Didn't any Battlestar Galactica denizens worry that humans might see motorcycles flying, thereby revealing them to everybody?  *sigh*
6  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW no fee Teusdays on: January 05, 2005, 03:56:01 AM
Yeah, tonight was absolutely horrible.  For about the hour I played, I was kicked out of the server 3 or 4 times and lost some quest rewards.  Finally I gave up for the night.  As much as I love this game, if this keeps up there's no point in me keeping my membership.
7  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Good/bad of WoW being on PvP vs PvE servers? on: December 09, 2004, 12:54:00 AM
Actually, I was under the initial impression that there was no PvP on a PvE server.  Thanks everybody for clarifying that!  And when or if (who am I kidding?  When!) I get the game, I'll be sure to join a PvE server.  I keep telling myself that I don't have the money, but this game seems so fun.....
8  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Great Vampires: Bloodlines forum on: December 08, 2004, 04:08:53 AM
Yeah, I noticed it was gone too.  I kept looking at the website to see if any progress was being made for the official patch.  At this rate it may never happen.  frown

Who knows, it could still become a smash hit at DVD, right?

Yes, DVD sales could still save it and ensure sequels.

They wont be making another Riddick movie?  Why is that, I thought this movie did well at the box office?

Not really.  It made $114 million at the box office worldwide, and considering it cost $140 million to make (including marketing) that's not that great.  However, there's still a chance a sequel will be made if the DVD sells well.

14  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Toy Story 3 in the works (sans Pixar) on: November 17, 2004, 01:12:47 AM
Quote from: "Grievous Angel"
Given Disney's lackadaisical approach to their recent 2-D cartoons, I really don't want to see Toy Story 3 go the same route as Lady & the Tramp 2 or Cinderella 2. And I can't imagine them getting Tom Hanks and Tim Allen (or even Patrick Warburton) to sign on to do a low-quality cartoon that's all about profit.

Disney owes so much of its success to timeless, classic 2-D cartoons. I'll never understand why the company suddenly stopped caring about animation.

I believe Tim Allen has said that he would be interested in reprising his role in a Toy Story 3.
And with regard to your second paragraph, it's all about money.  Because 2-D cartoons have been doing poorly, Disney thinks only the 3-D films can make a buck.  Nevermind the fact that Disney's recent 2-D animated films have been mediocre at best.  Perhaps if they took a page from Pixar and focused on quality stories, they might realize this.  *shrug*  When Pixar makes their 2-D movie in a few years and it makes big bucks maybe Disney will realize it then.

The box says, "Internet Connection Required."

Yeah, so? Thats pretty vague. Its not like it actually says on the outside of the box: "YOU CAN NOT PLAY THE GAME UNTIL 11/16/04 when we turn on the authorization servers".

Valve is worried about being sued further, I think they still have a lawsuit against sierra/VU going, if BB broke the date Valve/VU can sue them for breach of contract or Valve could sue VU for breach if it was stated that steam/retail sales' activiation doesn't start until 11/16.

Actually, if you look a little further down on the box, it says, "You Can Not Play the Game Until 11/16/04, and if you get this game before then, it's Vivendi's fault you bitches!"

I haven't installed it yet, but the box says 4.5 gig.

VUG is in the wrong here for not reigning in the stores. Valve clearly said there would be internet activation as of Nov. 16, 2004, and that anyone who got it early would be up shit creek. Now, if that's not clearly labeled on the box is something else entirely. For those that have it now, does it say clearly on the box "Requires internet authentication"?

The box says, "Internet Connection Required."
20  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Shrek 2 DVD - Why on Friday? on: November 03, 2004, 03:26:18 AM
I doubt it'll take much, if any, money away from the Incredibles.  One way to think of it is,  if Shrek 2 is out on DVD you can buy it anytime, but the Incredibles will be in theaters for a short time only.  Well, it may be in theaters for a while if all the early positive reviews are correct, but that's another way to look at it.

23  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / New Router messing up my computer? on: October 24, 2004, 04:55:26 PM
Well, I messed around with it, and nothing worked.  However, I live in an apartment so it might be possible that somebody nearby is using cordless phones or other electronic devices that are messing up my router.  The people below me were blasting some horrible song with their subwoofer up, so I don't know if that could do it or not.  Ah poofy.

28  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / New Router messing up my computer? on: October 22, 2004, 06:02:29 PM
Thanks for the suggestions.  I'm a little nervous to try to switch around the cables because I didn't set it up, and the person who did is now partying in Florida and I'd hate to call him up and bug him while he's drinking.
I have SBC DSL, but the problem occurred both before and after I uninstalled their drivers.  So other than that, I don't believe there were any custom network settings.   And before the person who installed the router left to party it up in Florida, he installed all the latest firmware updates.
Then again, I can switch around cables later when I get home.  If I can install a video card and RAM in my computer, I'm certainly capable of moving around some cables.
And no, I can't take it back unfortunately.  It was a gift purchased about 2 and a half hours away.
I've only been using the wireless connection.  So there could be interference from something else, lord knows I have enough electronic doodads all around the house that could do it.
Hmmm...I'll mess around with it later.  Thanks again!
29  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What if Half-life 2 uses Starforce? on: October 22, 2004, 01:53:22 AM
As much as it would pain me, I would take a pass on Half Life 2 if it had Starforce.  Heck, if a lot of games started having Starforce I might become a full time console gamer!
30  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / New Router messing up my computer? on: October 22, 2004, 01:48:59 AM
Hey, a recent thread inspired me to ask this question, and instead of derailing the other thread, I thought I'd start a new one even though the question is similar.
I recently got a Linksys wireless router.  Ever since that day, my computer has at times been acting weird.  For example, I might have Internet Explorer open (yes, I know I should use Firefox) and I can surf the web fine.  But while I'm surfing through Consolegold, I might try to open another IE window.  I see an hourglass for a second, then nothing.  When I try to do the Alt-Cntrl-Del trick, the exact same thing happens, hourglass and then nothing.
But as soon as I unplug the router, all the missing windows open suddenly and the computer is fine.  Oh, and sometimes when I turn the computer off it takes an unusually long time to shut down.
And I do have Zonealarm, as seems to be the problem in another thread.
    Thanks for any help!

I'm using the white background.  That way when I'm at work it's harder for my bosses to figure out I'm not working.  With the black background I had to be very careful not to get caught or they would take my stapler away and send me to the basement to kill the cockroaches.
