The only way I can keep up with the current tv shows is by pirating them sadly. Most of them will show up on my local cable channel eventually but it will be 3-6 months later and heavily censored, same with dvd box sets of shows. I do have cable at home and subscribe to HBO so they are getting my money, lol.
With all the digital distribution service like Steam, Origin, etc, I find I don't need to pirate games anymore and haven't in years.

Yeah, xbox360 controller works really well. I still use the keyboard to access things like my lights and turn signals and things.
I bought the game last weekend at GMG when it was on sale. I now took out a $400K loan, upgraded my garage, bought two more trucks and I now have two drivers working for me!!!
Too bad I can't assign routes to them
I've assigned a few buttons that I use frequently to the controller's buttons and I hardly ever need to switch to keyboard now, except when I'm in management screen or in map screen. I found that they do a pretty good job of finding their own routes and jobs. As you upgrade their skills, they'll get better paying jobs since they'll have more choices.

I've been busy visiting shrines and collecting statues as well; I got the perks that make them show up on the minimap so it is fairly easy, although some statues show up in areas I cannot figure a way to get to yet; I guess they'll unlock with story missions, but there is one that shows up on the highway in Central that I cannot find at all. my only guess is that there is an underground room there that is a story mission.
The ones under the highway near the ocean would be the sewers, you can get to it from the ocean. They are in a room with a camera too so you can do those both at the same time. Take a speed boat or swim to get to them.

I finished the main story line last night and enjoyed the game very much. Now comes the free-play sessions.
The fights gets easier once you've unlocked the 100% health increase (collect all the shrines) and got all the melee moves (collect all statues). I usually focus on the grapplers first since they can't counter and once they grab you, it's a pretty big hit. Once the grapplers are down, the fights get easier.

I took my gaming PC with me when I went back to Indonesia a couple of years back in my checked luggage and it survived OK. I made sure to cover it with clothes so it wouldn't get too banged up but I left all the parts inside, just made sure they're all tight before I packed it.
My dad also carried a PC back with him in his checked luggage a few years ago and we took apart the video card, ram, hard drive, etc, and that too survived the deal.

Count me in as the mostly lurking kind though I have no issues with the number of people GT has. I "know" most of the regular posters here and I like the fact that GT is a small, tight-knit community of mature people/gamers. Plus with being half-way around on the other side of the planet kind of puts me a bit out of touch.

I used to live near Pasadena, well within your 30 minute drive limit. I lived in Rosemead and could get to Pasadena without hitting any freeways. Biyobi is right, there are plenty of options for you to choose from either in Pasadena itself or outside of it.
May want to look into the Rose parade route and maybe avoid living around the routes if you would prefer to avoid the road closures and crazy parking once a year =)

My ex was diagnosed with breast cancer, she went in for a lumpectomy, followed by chemo and radiation. Hers was a tough case for the docs too cause her tumor was attached to the chest muscles. I think she just past her 5 years now so can be considered cancer free instead of in remission.
The chemo days will be tough for both her and her caregivers, but like Roman said, there's an end in sight.

I bought an extra copy of Orcs Must Die! and the DLC for anybody interested. Most of my Friends List already owns it and the others don't have it on their wishlist or else I'd give it to one of them.
If no one's interested, I'll take it off your hands. Do you want anything off my list? Maybe a copy of "The Ship" or GTAIII or portal?

Question on those street crimes - is there an option to incapacitate a bad guy instead of putting two in their dome? I've been unsuccessful so far in trying to "wing" one instead of creating A DOA - and if there are different ways to do the street crimes, are there differing benefits outside of just completing the task?
There's a way to fire a warning shot if you hold down the left trigger (or whatever button you use to draw your gun) while aiming at a suspect. A little circle will appear, and if you hold the button until it fills up, you'll fire a warning shot in the air. This only works in certain instances, and other than the cutscene that plays at the end of the street crime, I don't think it makes any difference. I'll need to try that. I hope it doesn't take long to fire that warning shot since the suspect may end up getting away, lol.

I've been playing this and spent all of last weekend playing it. It's running fine on my 2+ year old rig and I haven't had any issues except it crashes when I quit the game.
I've been playing with 360 controller and switching to my trackball on the shooting parts and so far that's been working good. Graphic is pretty decent though my rig only has ATI 4850 so I've set it at medium.
Gameplay wise it's pretty cool, I haven't played the console version so this is all new to me. I like that they scanned the faces of the voice actors and they're still recognizeable. The facial movements are also pretty good. It is tough to figure out which facial gestures are doubt and which ones are lies.
I do have a few gripes though, on the street crimes, I find it weird that in a city that big with that many cops, my character is the only one who's responding to all these calls and most ended up in a shootout in which the bad guys get killed. I know it's just a game but I think I've killed 20+ bad guys in shootouts and so far, no trouble for me at all.
Overall, I'm liking the game. Been a while since I got a good "puzzle" game like this one.

I had to click "Install" on the LA Noire page in my games section today. It started from scratch (I pre-ordered Sunday), so I don't think there's any helpful preloading in this case, sorry.
I'll have to try it tonight when I get home from work then to see if that works too. 12+GB will take me a few days to download Oh how I miss fast and reliable broadband internet
