I've been dying to put some emulation stuff together.  I'll try to dig up a few more reviews, but this sounds like it would be pretty awesome if it could handle basic emulation.
2  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: May 20, 2012, 10:29:13 PM
Is it possible to "share" the blacksmith?

I play 99% of my time with a partner, and 50% with a third person.  Is it possible for all of us to pour our resources into leveling the smith on 1 character?  This way, we level him up faster.  And if person A wants an item, he simply gives the gold and mats to person B (the one with the leveled smith), to craft the item for person A?
3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: May 16, 2012, 03:09:26 PM
I have a question about character builds.

I haven't followed like everyone else, but how will one character be different from another at level 40, for example?   In D2, you could have an Amazon specialize around freezing arrow, or javelins (lightning fury).

Is the rune system going to come into play there?
4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Video Game Ads of the 90's on: March 30, 2012, 05:49:10 PM
Any gamer who knows his history knows about Daikatana.  Question, though, why was that ad so controversial?  Was it the use of the word "bitch" in the ad?
5  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What is your favorite game music? on: January 14, 2011, 07:28:49 PM
For me, off the top of my head:

Final Fantasy 2 and 3 (4 and 6 from Japan)
Chrono Trigger
World of Warcraft (PC, but has some great music)

Oh wow, some memories above  smile

Law of the West, awesome game.

Wasteland, for those who don't know, was pretty much the game that started Fallout.

And the "Games" series (Summer, Winter, California, etc.) all fun.
7  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Let's reminisce about some OLD games on: December 29, 2010, 08:12:25 PM
Yeah I had a Commodore 64 myself.

Brilliant games.  Hacker, Impossible Mission (never beat it), Project Firestart.

I missing games taking 5-10 minutes to load smile

You can't beat some of the old ones.

and in some cases that might even be true  icon_wink

This makes me think of Ninja Gaiden.

I was NEVER able to beat this game, and man, did I try.

I did beat 2 and 3 though.
9  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Let's reminisce about some OLD games on: December 29, 2010, 04:52:40 PM
My wife got me a collection of old Genesis games for the XBox 360 for Christmas.  I'd forgotten about some of these games, and can't wait to give them another shot.

For example, Ecco the Dolphin 1 and 2, and I think I saw a Ecco 3 on there?  Wow.  And Beyond Oasis, I remember loving this game.  You can't beat some of the old ones.
10  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Enslaved on: September 24, 2010, 08:25:27 PM
Just completed the 360 demo.

I like it a lot.  Art direction is interesting, story looks solid, fan of Andy Serkis.

The camera seemed a little "touchy".  Hard to explain, but it won't break it for me.

To me, not having a PS3, the easiest thing to compare this to is Prince of Persia, which to be honest, I grew bored of.  But this game I think will hold me a little better than Prince of Persia did.

12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Review] Resident Evil 5 on: March 16, 2009, 04:46:44 PM
Played a few hours over the weekend.

Like the last few have said, a solid opinion from me as well.  Good action, good sidekick.  The story is still in the early phases, but I have no doubt the standard "RE-craziness" story will take off soon.

I think Sheva is a worthy addition to the game so far.  I've heard complaints about having a sidekick.  But didn't RE-0 follow this same formula?

What is wrong with Sarah Hamilton that she might not be able to finish the Longest Journey games?
14  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The three red rings . . . :( on: December 31, 2008, 03:15:05 AM
Okay guys, still trying to do a little research.

What exactly is the Arcade version?  I hear they're Jasper, with no HD, basically a souped up Core.  Could I simply get one of them and put my hard drive in this unit?

A lot of words coming at me now.  Core, Elite, Pro, Jasper, Arcade.  Man.

Ha, I just want a working XBox  smile
15  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The three red rings . . . :( on: December 28, 2008, 03:01:03 AM
Hmm.  I admit, this is all new to me.  I punch in my serial number on XBox's website, and it came back out of warranty.

This is actually another replacement unit from them.  On number two now.
16  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The three red rings . . . :( on: December 28, 2008, 02:03:14 AM
Got Fallout 3 for Christmas, went to play, almost got through Ron Perlman's narration before it went.  Bah.

It's out of warranty apparently, $94 to fix.  Eh.  Might just buy a new one with a better warranty of some kind.

Is it possible to buy a core system and simply move the hard drive over?

George and Nicolet (I think that's her name) from the Dragon adventure series.

The problem with listing RPGs here is that they are very much ensemble games to it's very hard to pick out a single two person relationship.

Indeed true.  However, a lot of RPGs definitely tried to have the old "romantic subplot" thing going.

I remember Final Fantasy 8 being marketed as romantic.  Pretty funny, as I thought Squall was crazy dull.
19  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: favorite game character 'relationships' on: December 10, 2008, 01:14:34 PM
I forgot all about Gabriel and Grace.  Those were solid games.

Surprised no one mentioned FF10, although I admit, couldn't stand the main character, so maybe it's not too surprising.  smile
20  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: favorite game character 'relationships' on: December 09, 2008, 08:23:21 PM
Was there ever any romance in any of the Zelda games?  It always felt like story took a back seat to action in those games (basically: save the Princess).  But I admit I haven't played a Zelda game in a long time.
21  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: favorite game character 'relationships' on: December 09, 2008, 08:22:08 PM
Hey Semi, almost feel dumb for saying, but could you put the games after?  I don't know where half of those come from  smile

For me, in no general order, and not necessarily romantic.

1.  Prince and Farah - PoP Sands of Time
2.  Jackie and the Darkness - The Darkness (I just love that dude's voice.)
3.  Cloud and Tifa - FF7 (was never a fan of Aeris at all)
4.  Locke and Celes - FF3

I couldn't find the demo on this  yesterday.  I'll have to look again.

MP centric games always scare me though.  They always seem to die fast.
23  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Fallout 3, Dead Space, or Fable 2? on: October 30, 2008, 08:24:09 PM
I ended up going with Dead Space, for the reasons said above. It's a shorter game.  smile

As much as I'd like to end up getting both Fable 2 and Fallout 3, I can't see myself getting lost in 2 gaming worlds.  So I have to decide which one I'd rather throw time at.
24  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Fallout 3, Dead Space, or Fable 2? on: October 28, 2008, 05:30:54 PM
Wow.  I can't remember the last time there were this many solid titles available, where I actually had to pause and think "Which one do I want first?"
25  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Infinite Undiscoveries (360) Impressions on: September 28, 2008, 02:19:28 PM
Mytocles

Our tastes seem similar.  Recommend me some other RPGs  smile
26  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Infinite Undiscoveries (360) Impressions on: September 24, 2008, 06:22:52 PM
I'm very much in to the game myself.  Like most of the characters, like the story that is being told, and the way it's being told.  I like the idea of a main character who in one sentence, will say they should run for their lives, then the next moment, leads the way into battle.  Just a very unique experience overall so far.

Indeed, all the flaws that have been said are correct.  Lack of direction at times, no world map, a lot of item/weapon management.  But the strengths outweigh.
27  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Infinite Undiscoveries (360) Impressions on: September 15, 2008, 12:22:53 PM
Picked this up.  I am liking it a lot.  I think it's a little different than most RPGs I've played.  In this one, the main character is actually a wuss.  Can't remember last time that happened.

Question about titles.  Do they change throughout the story?  I think it's pretty cool you can check out how your character feels about others throughout the story.  But do they change depending on how much you use them?
28  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Infinite Undiscoveries (360) Impressions on: September 05, 2008, 07:22:43 PM
What we need here are thoughts from someone who has played both. So Mytocles, go out and buy Tales.  Let me know what's up.
29  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Infinite Undiscoveries (360) Impressions on: September 05, 2008, 04:42:42 PM
I looked for this yesterday.  Couldn't find a copy. I was mad.

I'm hoping stories / character interactions / gameplay make up for some of the flaws.  I love the character descriptions on their website, looks very interesting.  Whereas Tales of Vesperia, to me, from just looking, looks to be generic characters.  But that's the sought after game right now.  So maybe I'm backwards  smile
30  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Infinite Undiscoveries (360) Impressions on: September 04, 2008, 08:22:13 PM
I have 50 posts  smile  Still pretty anonymous.  Long time reader, maybe even some people remember my name from posts at OO years ago.  smile

But nah, no sexist comments from me.

Is the story pretty good so far?
31  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Infinite Undiscoveries (360) Impressions on: September 04, 2008, 07:33:55 PM
Ha  smile  You just did what I talked about earlier.  Reading your post, I'm thinking "he doesn't like it", then get to the bottom  smile

Good to hear though.  I'm leaning toward this one over Tales, because of it's shorter (60 hour games are tough for me now).  Characters look more interesting too.
32  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Infinite Undiscoveries (360) Impressions on: September 03, 2008, 12:08:22 PM
I've been keeping track of this game, trying to decide between it and Tales (although no doubt I'll have both down the road).  This one sounds more interesting, but the reviews have been all over the place.  I listened to the IGN review (I believe it was), and he spent 5 minutes bashing the game, talking about how bad it was.  Then at the end says "Still, I'd recommend it, and found myself enjoying it."

Weird.

So yeah, I'll watch these impressions, and try to ignore the reviews.  Hopefully it's better than reviewers are giving it credit for.

34  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Trying to catch up (thinking either RPG or survival horror) on: August 15, 2008, 08:03:49 PM
Ah I do have Mass Effect.  Haven't finished it yet.  Solid game, but it's lacking something that makes me want to play like crazy.  Combat system perhaps?

I wish the Condemned games were longer.  I was sad when Condemned 2 finished as fast as it did.
35  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Trying to catch up (thinking either RPG or survival horror) on: August 14, 2008, 07:02:43 PM
Been playing a lot of WoW, been neglecting the poor 360.  Now I'm probably a year behind on the good stuff that's out.  Would like to catch back up a little.

What's been out in the way of survival horror or RPGs?  Working now through Lost Odyssey.  Pretty solid so far, only complaint is the long gaps between save points.  Before that was Bioshock, amazing game.  What else has come out that might have slipped under the radar since the beginning of the year?
36  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: GTA4 Hints and Tips? on: May 08, 2008, 12:14:02 PM
Hey guys.  Need quick advice.

Only about an hour into the game.  I came to a point where I was on my way to get Michelle for the first date.  Roman called and needed help.  Me being foolish, thought that I could do the date first (since I was on my way), then go back to help Roman.  Well, I end up picking him up from the hospital.  So I completely missed that chance, and the autosave won't let me go back.  I'm going to restart (since I'm only beginning).  But in the future, how do you prevent this?  Turn off autosave?  Turn off the cell phone?
37  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What's your super powers? on: December 27, 2005, 07:50:25 PM
Super human strength:  I'm short, and athletic (but not bodybuilder type).  Yet somehow I can bench press twice my weight.  People who come over sometimes make bets with their buddies who don't know me about how much I can lift.  It's usually pretty funny.

39  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / DS or PSP? on: December 20, 2005, 01:10:13 PM
First off, sorry if I missed any earlier discussions.  Didn't mean to bring up dead horses, if that's the case.  I saw discussions on a lot of the games, but not the actual systems.

Hmm, maybe I'll wait just a bit longer.  I'd love to get the DS, but I don't have a PS2, and if they're going to be releasing some PS2-style RPGs for the PSP, that's what I'd really love.
40  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / DS or PSP? on: December 19, 2005, 07:23:27 PM
Was looking at maybe getting a handheld sometime soon.  I've seen the articles, the comparisons, etc.  But I have not heard from the almighty GT collective.  What do you have, and why?

I'm leaning toward the DS, for sheer cost reasons.  But are there killer apps for the PSP that are worthwhile?  Is the movie feature really nice?

Anyway, opinions?
