if you look through the thread I linked to the big problem is that it doesn't matter whether or not you start a new game, something is messing around with the save system itself.  it sounds like staying offline fixes it, but then you really don't have access to pawns.

If that is the case,for those waiting,if you do take the leap and try it out,copy your game save to a flashdrive and then either play your old game save or start a new game....if it does fuck up,you'll still have that back up

As said,Capcom are going to be ages,and even when they have finished,the patch then has to go to MS for certification that can take an extra couple of weeks

For some reason when I played this past weekend, the game was very laggy.  I was trying to fight Shocker and every thing I tried to do was delayed by a couple seconds.  I had been kind of excited about this one and that really turned me off.  Good thing I didn't buy a founder's pack.  I don't have lag lije that in any other online game.

FL is a horrible state.

While I don't dislike FL, I am ready to go back north. If I could just get the lizards and frogs that keep getting in my house to eat the spiders and roaches that get in, life would be easier. (To be fair only one roach so far, but it was huge. I hear that's common when it rains, all the critters get in trying to avoid the rain.)

Pretty sure eating bugs and spiders are the jobs of frogs and lizards.  You just must have way more bugs and spiders than frogs and lizards.

While it certainly makes sense in this day of drone warfare/recon for him to be piloting stuff remotely, for me the charm of the movies/comics was always Stark being in the suit (or biologically combining with the suit as in the recent comics era), I felt a bit of disappointment when we see in some situations he's not actually IN the suit.

I honestly don't feel he is in any danger in the suit or out so it makes no difference to me.  He isn't going to die in these movies, so I feel no sense of danger even when he is in the suit.

Btw, does anyone feel like the after credit scene was a let down?

I thought it was amusing.  I also had no issues with the scenes in Tennessee with the kid, so you can use that as your measuring stick.

How is the full game, did anyone take the plunge? I'm going to Dallas this weekend and might have to get a copy to play on the plane.

When you started your new character, did you get to keep the 100,000 rift currency and infinite ferrystone that came with loading the expansion?
   
It's not a big deal and I'm going to start over anyway, I was just curious if they carried over to the new character, since it seems they are rewards for having owned the original and the expansion.

Once it detects your save and brings that in, all characters you make will get that stuff.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen for PS3

I beat it this morning and have to say I really enjoyed it.  I thought it was going to be a mess, but turned out to be a great deal of fun.  I've even been going back and picking up collectibles which I never do in games anymore.

That's exactly the direction we are going in- Thanks to David we've been going away from the PR monkey bullshit that every site has (though we still have some) and posting more editorials and journalistic pieces (like this one for instance). We know this is what readers want and we plan to do more of it.

I'm much less interested in having a bunch of news sites to visit, which sadly is why I never visit the front page of this site.  On my RSS feed I have a ton of them in there and honestly am about to pare them down because it's just too repetitive.  Notable sites that are excluded from this would be Penny Arcade Report and Giant Bomb.  Both of those provide much more than just spitting out press releases and I think if you really want to drive traffic to the site, you should work on coming up with something that makes you stand out from the crowd.  You can continue to do news and reviews, but I'd love to see you guys succeed and would be willing to kick in Kickstarter money if you offered something more than just the message board I'm used to hanging out at.

I would love to have a prettier MGS1.  I have played the original version fairly recently and it's  ugly as sin and controls funky, but it's still an awesome game.  Loved playing  the HD remakes of 2 and 3.

Injustice Battle Edition for PS3.  I need a stick for the PS3 as my SF ones are for the 360 and I rarely turn that thing on anymore.  Might get Dragon Fantasy if I read some positive impressions of it.

What is it?  Well, only of of the most fun games ever.  The key to enjoying the game is certainly the multiplayer.  I've got Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on both WiiU and 3DS.  WiiU supports online multiplayer and the 3DS version only supports local multiplayer.  The cool thing, though, is you can transfer your save back and forth between the two versions.  So I will get on the WiiU and do multiplayer and then take my character out on my 3DS and do some solo grinding.

The gist of it is you fight monsters and gather resources to craft weapons, armor, and tools to do these hunts.  Each of the big monsters has their particular material drops which can be used to craft cool-looking versions of weapons and armor that can offer certain types of buffs (or penalties).  The battles against these monsters are pretty epic and with the quests, there is usually a version to kill the monster and a version to capture it.  Capturing it involves weakening it enough to be able to tranquilize it.  You usually get somewhat different materials from killing it as opposed to trapping it.  Also, depending on where you hit the monster when you are fighting it (cutting off its tails by focusing on that or breaking pieces of armor or decoration on the monster in specific places) it can adjust what drops.

The fun part of the game is figuring out what to bring along on these hunts to deal with the particulars of that monster.  The game really is awesome and as someone mentioned it has the hardcoreness of a game like Dark Souls.  Combat is a ton of fun and each weapon type is vastly different so that you usually want to try them all out and focus on a couple that suit you.  Right now, my love is the hunting horn which is a musical instrument you use to hit the monster as well as play to create buffs.  How you string your attacks allows you to play different buffs.

It has worked great and it also is autoswitching, so as soon as it detects a new signal, it switches over to it.  I only ever have one device turned on at a time, but since I have my 360 and WiiU plugged into it, if I already had the WiiU on and I wanted to see something on the 360, I could just turn on the 360 and it would switch over.

Anyway, just wanted to share in case others want some solutions.

I ran out and so I went and got an HDMI switch off of Amazon.  I had three HDMI ports on my receive and have my DVR, 360, and PS3 in them.  So, pulled out one, plugged the switch in, and now I have my WiiU, 360, and a spare cord to plug my laptop into if I need to plugged into that.  I'm now out again, but could always get two more switches if I need to.

Four of them could have reasonable arguments made for them, although in the end someone is telling a story and making a game and honestly it's a step in the right direction that you don't have to sit and protect Elizabeth all the tie, which is what most games would make you do.  But, whatever....people will find fault in anything.  The one that bothers me is #3 because they obviously weren't paying attention to the story and didn't understand why both Luteces existed simultaneously.

This girl is certainly pretty, but she's not stunningly beautiful.  I understand why she is all over the internets now and SI, but she's not all that.

after reading this and watching a youtube vid on it, I think the ending is a lot more uplifting than either or.  basically, the theory is that since Elizabeth kills Booker before he becomes Comstock, therefore erasing every thing that Comstock or the alternate Bookers did.  it also erases Elizabeth as in every universe she exists in at that point in her life is a product of Comstock's doing.  with that loop closed, no one is there to trade Booker for Anna and in the end, while you don't hear Anna crying, only her music box, she's lying there in the crib and Booker goes on to be a better father and doesn't fall into the heavy drinking and gambling lifestyle.  (hopefully)

Why didn't the main Elizabeth wink out of existence when the others did?  All the others disappeared except for her and it has gotten me confused, because if Comstock is no more, Elizabeth should also be no more since Comstock never gets Anna and makes her become Elizabeth.

That's different and part of a carefully planned marketing push. This is about getting an unexpected PR problem under control. Showing that they're aware of the issue goes a long way.

There's a marketing push?  They really need to get some info out stat lest Sony continue to get all the next-gen attention?  I mean, in the end I guess I don't care because I'm pretty much done with giving Microsoft my money, but I just sit here and shake my head at how they are handling this next-gen console launch.

It's funny because for this gen I owned both a PS3 and a 360.  My preference in the early days was to buy games on the 360.  Then as the dashboard became more and more sluggish and more and more filled with ads, even though I am paying them a yearly fee for Gold, and as the PS3 got better and better over time (I pay for PS+ and actually feel like it offers some value), I started buying games for the PS3 if they were multiplatform.  Now that Sony has gone away from cell for the PS4, I really think that it levels the playing field for multiplatform titles.  I rarely turn on my 360 anymore and just the other day as my Gold subscription was about to renew, I realized...why do I even pay for this?  So, I am letting it drop and due to rumblings about how horrible MS has been with regards to developers and how arrogant they seem to have gotten (kind of like Sony after the PS2), I actually think I will only be buying a PS4 for next gen.

The reason I had both platforms in the past was to make sure I didn't miss out on platform exclusives.  However, it seems like more and more that exclusives are getting rarer and rarer and really the only two I much cared about for XBox were Halo and Gears of War.  To be honest, I don't even care about them that much and could easily have lived never having played them.  There are lots of Sony exclusives that I could not do without.

That being said, I am not sure if the general consumer cares about these kinds of issues and I think MS has the momentum for sure, so not sure they will see the fall Sony saw for the PS3.

I got my first hit today! Took the puppy to play group at Petsmart and got a burger at 5 Guys and ran into someone at some point. Yeah, bummed I forgot to get PAX east tickets this year because that would have been a perfect start.

I also realized that you actually have to log into the app for the McDonalds thing to work 

The McDonald's thing (and Starbucks as well) basically is just a free Internet connection.  I know if I pass a Starbucks, it will get on the Internet and I could potentially get SpotPass type stuff without actually having to launch the Nintendo Zone.  You're not going to get Miis from that, though, unless it is a special visitor like Miyamoto (which we got recently) or Reggie.  Most of your Miis will come from StreetPass and you have to be passing an actual person.

Finally bit the bullet and imported a Circle Pad Pro XL from Japan (though off Amazon).  Was $40, but even though I felt Monster Hunter Ultimate was playable with that virtual D-Pad, I just knew it would be that much better with the CPP.  It is.

Am I the only person who was pretty amazed with the game right up until the point where I put skyhook through a guy's head?  I know this is a shooter and all, but it seems these guys went with violence for violence's sake.  It honestly soured my impressions of the game.  This is the type of game that could have really done something meaningful if they were going to put that kind of violence in (they minorly address it, from what I hear), but for such a smart game, they really sank into the "murder simulator" mode on this one.
