Finished up all the story missions this morning and was only level 18, so I guess i will queue up in PvP and Strikes to get up to 20 (and beyond).  I'm still enjoying the game and will likely play a few nights a week doing the MMO-like stuff that basically makes up the game now.  Will be interesting to see what they might add with the expansions.  I definitely agree with the thoughts that they could have done more interesting things with the story missions other than run to place, fight stuff, run to place, deploy ghost and fight stuff.  Diablo 3 was kind of the same way in that regard, but they did eventually add in some time limit-based stuff and other things like that.  There's certainly more ways out there to shake up this formula.

Edit to say that I did a majority of the story stuff solo, with some missions spent with a friend of mine and me doing some strikes with some randoms.  However, I do think that playing with others will just make the gear grind more enjoyable.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call and very stoked about it.  I loved the first one so much and this looks to add some cool stuff.

I've been ignoring story missions since circa level 7, and last night I tried one scaled to level 20 (the one with the sword).  The first 90% of the mission was not scaled, so every enemy was still level 8 or so.  It wasn't until the very end that the enemies finally got bumped up to 20, right when I got to the no-respawn warning.  Even with the enemies at 20, the difficulty level seemed on the easy side.  Maybe it was because I had so many more abilities and equipment perks at 20 than you'd expect to have at 7-8?

I think the reason the beginning part is 7-8 is you are thrown into the greater wrld with other players.  It seems like once you get to the part where you can't respawn, that is where it becomes instanced and I'm guessing that is where the levels of the monster went up to 20.

Am I the only one getting annoyed at all the celebrity voices in this game? I recognize pretty much every single one of the voice actors, which pulls me straight out of the little immersion this game has. I get the feeling that they were all picked to act in this game simply because they were recognizable celebrities with geek cred (from TV shows and games popular with traditional geek culture), and not because they were in any way well-suited to their roles.

It makes me respect Rockstar all the more for having gone the opposite route with their latest games, going for unknown actors that fit perfectly into the roles created for them.

I didn't know anyone in it was famous other than the ghost.  Makes me want to go see who everyone is.  Hmmm...looked it up and the only name I know is Nathan Fillion.

I'm level 8 now, and just started with the Moon. Things got stupid there in the gameplay department. Enemies on hoverbikes are suddenly coming after you, and you can barely fight back since your regular weapons don't do any worthwhile damage to them and your own hoverbike doesn't even have any weapons. It forces you to run around looking for a spare bike, which tends to trigger more enemies that you have to fight off in the middle of all this. Annoying, to say the least.

I had no issues shooting one off a bike and then getting on it to shoot back at them.

I got to watch both my teams squander large leads and only one survived.  I know Atlanta has some weapons, but the Saints D was #4 in the league last year and they just looked bad yesterday.  I feel bad for Colston as he's usually pretty good with ball handling.

As for the Broncos, Manning looked pretty poor in the second half, but they came away with the win anyway.

This is pretty much a reskin of Titanfall, so as long as you bought and liked that then you should have a great time with this.

Um.....no?  This isn't anything like Titanfall other than it's an FPS.

I am teasing ATB about his round by round updates of his debate on whether or not to buy Titanfall, with an extra meta level of teasing about him saying he goes dark on games he's anticipating since he didn't do so with Titanfall.  I'm also making the claim that he's so in the dark about Destiny that he wouldn't know whether or not it was a giant robot shooty shooty game.

LOL...I guess I need to pay attention more.  Especially since Capsicle got it.

OK so I finally saw that legendary gift sitting in my inventory but I didn't know how to send it lol.  Does anyone know if it's scaled to when the receiving player opens it, or when it was generated by the giver?

Also wondering in an online MP game, what happens if there are 3 or 4 players but 1 of them opens their pause menu - does the whole game pause for everyone or are the remaining players still able to play?

I know that when I got my first gift from TiLT it was a level 11 item and I wasn't high enough to use it yet, so I don't think it scales to the person receiving it.  Although, I wonder what would happen if someone way lower level than you generated it...seems a waste to send a level 10 item to a level 50, for instance.  Maybe it always keeps it around your level or a little higher.

Rittchard, how did that work?  Did a legendary drop for you in-game and a duplicate was auto-sent to me?  Did the game notify you that it was sent?  Anyway, thanks!

It happened really fast, I just saw a note that a gift was sent to Torfish.  I don't know if it was a duplicate or not, but I was playing a Witch Doctor as well so maybe....

If this is what happened, you never sent that legendary. The game doesn't auto-send them. When you find a gift legendary, the game auto-assigns it to someone on your friends list that you have no control over, but you have to manually send the item by going to your inventory and clicking it.

You don't actually have to go into inventory.  You can use the d-pad up thing to cycle to it and you can hit send from there.

Oh, well if you didn't like Diablo 3 the first time, you'll likely not like it.  I mean, they changed things that improved things for people who enjoy Diablo, but if you don't like hack n slash games with phat lewt, you're not going to like the game no matter what system it's on.

This may be as close as I'll ever get to gaming perfection.

By the way, if you're like me and couldn't find the pauldrons that come with the game (this is PS4...not sure what is on XBO), then what I had to do was quit Diablo, go to Settings>PSN>Restore Licenses.  Once that finished, I loaded Diablo back up and had the pauldrons in my inventory.

Now, if only Blizzard didn't have stuff down for maintenance, so I can link my game to my Battle.net account.

I don't have first-hand experience, but the reviews I've read say that the controller UI works really well and some people even prefer it to the PC version.

Oh, I do remember that Jeff on Giant Bomb said that he likes the PC interface better when I was watching their Quick Look.  Mostly because you can see more and more easily access things in menus because it's got mouse control whereas they had to change things up a bit for the console version just to make it better to navigate and not be tiny on a TV screen.

I can probably find this in reviews, but is the only difference between the PC and PS4 versions going to be controller support or are there other fundamental gameplay changes?

Also, does the UI of the PS4 version better suit a TV than the PC version would if I were doing big picture mode with my PC?

Not sure on the UI, but I can tell you about differences between the PS4 version and the PC version:

Whenever a legendary drops for you, there is a chance something will also drop for people on your Friends list.

There's the Nemesis mechanic where if a monster kills your character, there is a chance that it can level up, turn into a different creature, gain new abilities and jump into a portal (and out of your game). Later on that same monster can show up with ominous music in your friend's game, with a name making it clear that it was the monster that killed your character. If the monster kills your friend's character, it gets even more powerful, and can go on to someone else on their friends list! If the monster is killed, there are Player Gifts that can be sent back to the character who it originally killed.

A player mail system where you can send items to people on your Friends list.

Dodging

Apprentice Mode which boosts lower level players when they’re playing with higher level players

It's not a teaser that's designed to be completed. You play it until you can't figure out how to keep going, and then stop. The devs didn't expect anyone to complete the teaser within the first week, and people still haven't fully agreed on how you actually solve the game.

I'd say more it was designed to require internet collaboration to finish.  Think an actual video game of an ARG like I Love Bees.

It's also totally worth checking out even just for a bit to get a sense of the the atmosphere etc that they can accomplish, it's a pretty impressive little package, and everyone with a PS4 should load it up and make at least a few loops of the corridor.

Everyone always talks about how scary Amnesia is, but I think this thing is about 50x creepier than Amnesia and it's a mere interactive teaser.  When I saw Kojima was going to do this thing, I was really excited because he has had some cool ideas in the MGS games and I think in a horror game he could go even deeper.

I enjoy the card game quite a bit.  The thing that a computer can do for you is be in charge of the rules so that you don't have to think about them.  A good translation of an existing board or card game takes care of all that stuff for you so that you can focus on strategy and playing.  I play it a good bit with my daughter and we love it.
