As sad as I am to say it, Dallas deserved to lose that game. But getting 4 turnovers and only winning by 2 points? That was some bad, bad football.
7242  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: KOTOR on Steam on: September 21, 2009, 01:37:27 AM
OK, let me ask you vets a few questions:

1. How smart are your Jedi teammates? I know that you can use the limited scripting system to have your Jedi characters use their force powers, but is there logic to it? When will they heal vs. attack? Should I be pausing a lot to make my Jedis do the right thing?

2. I've noticed that when you haven't used a character for a while, they will level up several levels automatically. So, is it not necessary to keep swapping out characters to keep them strong? It seems maybe the game allows you to choose your characters based on how you like to play (bring a droid and a scout if you like to sneak around and hack, for example) rather than because you need them at certain times.

3. When I played the game on XBOX (played the first two planets only) I noticed that the Jedi would go flying way across the screen when they saw a new enemy to attack. In this version they just run over there. Is that a change they made for the XBOX?

I also broke the game scripting a little bit
Spoiler for Hiden:
On Dantooine, I finished off the the "Hatfields and McCoys" quest, but when I later went to visit one of the estates, the owner came out and talked to me like nothing had happened yet. You'd think they would have prevented that from happening.

Its my understanding that the game does not support campaign co-op. Only 4 player wave after wave co-op. Am I wrong?

You are wrong.

There's a thread on GAF about some european magazine that broke their review system and gave it a 21 out of 20.

My copy of this came from Newegg on Monday. Finished it Tuesday night.

It's... more Halo. The narrative is better than it was in Halo 2 or 3, and the game itself is a little better for it, but it's still relatively weak storytelling. The less powerful player characters make for some interesting changes in how you have to approach combat, but it's nothing drastic. It's still Halo.

I expect the real legs to be in the Firefight mode or co-op, but since most of the world doesn't have the game yet I've not gotten to try either one.

Newegg broke street date by more than a week? Aren't they going to get in deep trouble for that?

Working on Prototype. Might also keep going on KOTOR.

Yep, did some light SMG akimbo.  You lose the ability to fire down the sights, but you can throw a lot of lead downrange.

That's interesting - I thought that when this was first announced they said it was only for pistols. Maybe I will be able to dual wield Skorpions.

Ron-

How big were the maps? Were they COD4 size or bigger like COD5? Or...<crosses fingers> big like battlefield?

i would like to know this also,i doubt they would be as big as BF(be great if it happened)...my guessing would be prolly the same size as COD4...but god i hope there are no maps like DOME in COD5

I like Dome. I like Vacant. The only small map I really don't like is Showdown. At least on Dome and Vacant you can go everywhere on the map. On Showdown you can't use the middle of the map unless you're interested in dying. (I've never played Killhouse or Shipment, but I think the point of those maps is to die a lot.)

Well, I figured I wasn't going to play COD4 or 5 again, so I packed up those, Halo 3 and Resistance 2 and traded in. I fully paid for ODST (so I can still play Halo 3 MP if I would like) and half paid for MW2 with the exchange. I generally don't like to use Gamestop, but this seemed like a good exception to make.

Despite the venturing into unrealistic territory, I am really excited to play this.

When you're in Harvard Square consider having lunch at Mr Bartley's Burger Cottage. The seating is elbow-to-elbow, there's always a wait, and the service is brusque, but once you see the menu you'll understand why it's been there for 40 years.

For dinner, I like Grendel's Den. It's one of the less expensive places in the square, with a decent menu and beer selections. Lots of vegetarian choices to offset Mr Bartley's.  icon_lol

Oh, I love me some Bartley's. They have really good thick frappes too. If you are in Harvard Square and you like chocolate, you should also stop in Burdick's.

Game's pretty fun, but I have 3 complaints

Experiences bona fide slowdown once on the first level, it was pretty drastic

Co-op games constantly pause and say 'Waiting on other player'.  The Live Party Chat also disconnects when this happens, so it's definitely some network issue.

Biggest problem is that if you download the Juggernaut pre-order character, you can't play with people who didn't get it.  This is complete bullshit.

In response to your 3rd complaint:

I think that's a video.

"Required to play with your friends in multiplayer if your friends have downloaded the Juggernaut playable character."

Same content is available on PSN.

Ah, sorry, missed that part.

ABC Family is kind of a strange channel as it is. The name implies that the shows are family friendly, although it's more like "shows you should watch with your family and then discuss afterwards". And then if you leave it on past 10pm they show the 700 Club, which always causes my wife to dive for the remote. Apparently that is something to do with CBN actually owning the channel and ABC doesn't really want anything to do with it.

Well I have a whole bunch of old but good PC games that I have just sitting around if anyone is interested.

These are all jewelcase versions:
SMAC
Thief: The Dark Project
Hitman: Codename 47
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight 1: Jawa .5
No One Lives Forever 2
Myth: The Total Codex

I also have NOLF 1 + soundtrack in paper sleeves and some magazine discs that have Deus Ex: GOTY and Thief 2 on them - I have to check if they are both on the same disc or separate. I also have all of Rainbow Six 1 and 2 and expansions, but some of those are boxed and I also have the strategy guides, so I would want to consider what it would take to ship those. Same for Starcraft Battle Chest.

No use of Covenant weapons seems odd. I don't see why an ODST couldn't pick up a plasma pistol or most other Covenant weapons. Do they explain how they work around that story-wise?

My wife and I have watched the first two episodes and while we think the show is funny, there is way too much sex/emphasis on sex for our tastes and will not be watching any further episodes.

I'll tell you the show you should definitely stay away from then - The Secret Life of the American Teenager. This is Brenda Hampton's followup to Seventh Heaven. My wife religiously watches a lot of bad TV on the CW and ABC Family, and I wind up witnessing a lot of it. Seventh Heaven got positively absurd the last couple of seasons and spent enough time of its own focused on sex, but it appears the characters on Secret Life spend about 80% of the time talking about who they have had sex with, who they want to have sex with or whether they should or should not have sex.

The one show on ABC Family that I will say is pretty decent is Greek, and I will tend to pay attention to it if it is on.

As far as Glee goes, I didn't think the second episode was as good as the first.

The kick returner did so many things wrong on that play - if he shouldn't be benched for not just getting the touchback, the fighting for extra yards should do it. What was he thinking?
