You don't need to grind it. It's just another little 'mini-game' by doing a node hunt. You can get some fast profession mats either for yourself or to sell. Sometimes when I'm tired of questing or PvP, I'll mix it up with some node farming. Just another thing to do for variety.
The Profession bonus is also only 1/2 hour long and pops up at various times during the day. The nice thing with the low level areas is that you can't aggro the creatures even if you stand on them.
Farming, grinding, same basic thing. In Rift I used to run circuits to collect mats to create whetstones for the guild. Horrible waste of time. Not to mention what's being done here is essentially an exploit. How is farming items an exploit? I've done it in every MMO. Typically by the time you finish a circuit, your node has reappeared. Also the instance change is on a timer, so they are aware of the ability to instance change to reset nodes. The instance change is the exploit, not the farming. They have to allow for reasonably frequent instance changes due to grouping. This is taking advantage of that fact.

I only played one game with the online pass (ME3) and it worked fine.
It has nothing to do with it working fine. It's the fact that you had to pay extra money if you didn't have a new copy of the game. Plus, it was annoying to have to enter a code. I have no problem with publishers trying to limit the sale and use of used games. And entering a code takes <60 seconds. Why are you in such a hurry, Teg? I don't buy used games, but I do trade games with other people.

I never played Rift and might give this a go. I can enjoy a lot of different genres of MMO's, but if character building is simple, I rarely stick with them. So what's the complexity of character build like in it?
The combinations of souls means there are near limitless character builds, and a given character can switch between builds out of combat (ranged, melee, tank, dps, etc.) However, just like any other MMO, if you plan on doing high level dungeon content, be prepared to be forced to use whatever cookie-cutter build has been deemed top dps or hps. But if you just want to do your own thing there's quite a few different ways to play. They also introduced templates so you can try some sample builds if you'd like.

Hey, this game is pretty fun! I was looking for something a little lighter to play the other night so I booted this up. It's got stats up the wazoo and a ridiculous amount of classes, magic and weapon types, so it seems it's designed for multiple playthroughs (not to mention multiple playthroughs per character), but I'm just intending to run through it one time for now with a ranged elf. A nice amount of exploration and lots of loot. It could use some more modern touches like loot comparison, but otherwise it's pretty easy to work with. The area loot feature is a nice touch and the combo system is cool.
Still not sure what the benefit of horses is yet, though, since if you try to run past mobs you end up with a train of mobs on you when you get to your location, and as a ranged character, I seem to get about 10% accuracy mounted as opposed to on the ground.

Have they said what the FOV is? The default for 2033 was 45 (it was measured vertically rather than horizontally like most games) and I changed it to 60. However, given they probably set this up so it would look ok on the consoles, I'm guessing it's similar to the first game. Not sure why changing it in the first game is OK but not this one. There are all the animations they seem to be talking about like looking at the watch and stuff.

PC tweaks are already rolling out, like how to disable aim assist and how to run the game with different DirectX choices. no FOV tweak (yet): Metro: Last Light suffers from a low FOV. And quite disappointingly, 4A Games has not included any slider to adjust that setting to our liking. Therefore, a lot of PC gamers will get sick while playing it. Truth be told, Metro 2033 didnt feature such an in-game option either, however PC gamers could adjust the FOV by editing the games config files. Unfortunately, players wont be able to increase the FOV as there isnt any value to edit in Metro: Last Lights config files. Ah, good thing I am behind on buying this one then, because low FOV is a killer for me.

Here's some info regarding the streaming from theverge.com. Note mention of the MIMO requirement: If you're dreaming of all the PC games you'll be playing on the Shield, though, you might be disappointed to hear that there are still some kinks to be worked out, and Nvidia will be labeling the feature "beta" to manage expectations for at least a couple of months. Borderlands 2 in particular worked great in our brief test, but neither game's animations felt quite as fluid as on PC, and several times Nvidia had difficulty getting the Shield and PC to stay connected. The setup also requires an approved Wi-Fi router (dual-band MIMO) to function well, and doesn't yet work with all games: only a limited selection of Steam Big Picture mode and GeForce Experience titles are good to go as of today, though engineers told us that the buttons and sticks should theoretically just work with any PC game that supports an Xbox controller.

So the basics are here: http://shield.nvidia.com/play-pc-gamesStreaming is listed as beta at launch and the give 6 games as examples. Now, one of those is Skyrim, which could theoretically get you through beta . From what I understand the games need to be modified to work. There is a restriction of gtx 650 or better, which means that I wouldn't be able to move to AMD next gen like I was thinking of. The rother bit is a little confusing - older versions of the page stated that a MIMO router was recommended, but they have changed that to just 802.11n, and a list of recommended routers will be released when they ship.

To be honest, if this streamed any controller-enabled game from my PC to my bed, I would likely buy it day 1 at that price. However, from what I am reading, that is far from the case.
I thought that was exactly the case. What are you seeing that is counter to that? I believe one of the articles stated it required a better router than I have and only certain games work well with it so far. I'll have to dig up the info.

Kind of curious if church groups are going to arrange group viewings of this to support OSC much in the manner they tried to boycott The Golden Compass to protest Philip Pullman.

I was convinced that CDs weren't going to catch on (DAT was going to be huge!) so I was still buying a good deal of vinyl through the late 80s. I remember that I bought U2s 'Rattle and Hum' on vinyl. I had a stereo with a CD player too but I kept buyin cassettes. That went way, way out the window when I got to college and I bought mountains of CDs.
I honestly can't remember the first CD I bought. One of the earliest was 'Cake' by The Trashcan Sinatras.

Finished up the story questline. Final boss was way too long but I stuck through it. Major problem with the game is that the later sidequests in particular were not balance at all for a single player (or at least one playing an infiltrator type like my character). Lots of respawning to get things done.

Section 8 wasn't bad, but we already had Tribes as a F2P shooter by the time they shoved it out the door. I got to play with the guys from Timegate once - it was a pretty great experience. I hate to see a company go out of business, especially one that brought us the awesome Kohan series as well as F.E.A.R.
Timegate did not make F.E.A.R., only the expansions which were non-canon and not that great (I just played them in the last year).

I agree that there are services (e.g., police and courts) that the government should provide. In consequence, people will be hired to provide those services. That is different than saying my taxes are needed because someone needs a job.
You're playing semantics. If taxes are not paid, services are cut. The result of those cuts are people who should otherwise be employed will lose their jobs.
