Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / If this is true, say goodbye to ESPN NFL 2k whatever.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/05/18/news_6098784.html The May 3 issue of the Journal contained a story with the headline "EA set to pay Players Inc. $1 billion." According to the article, Electronic Arts is in final negotiations with Players Inc., the NFL Players' Association marketing arm, to exclusively license all NFL player rights for the next four years. The Journal set the price tag of the deal at $250 million each year, which EA would pay Players Inc.; in other words, a literal billion-dollar contract.
Given the large sums reportedly at stake, the exclusivity of the EA/NLFPA deal would be almost certainly strict. If that turns out to be the case, no non-EA Sports game could license NFL player likenesses--an almost certainly fatal blow to the Madden series' rivals.
Sega better hope that ESPN can pull some strings and keep them in this.[/quote]

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Ea = 15 games on Live this year.

A slew of sports titles, as in all of them, and other games like Goldeneye, burnout 3 and timesplitters 3 will all support Live this year.
That's a lot of games, and by the way I just saw a pig fly by my window...

as long as you have clothes on you'll be okay. Trust me, you're going to see some of the most poorly dressed males in the country in that building, you could wear boxers and an undershirt and be fine.
When I went I had met up with a few folks, and quickly ditched them when I realized how dorky they dressed and acted, yes I was that vain.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The Post your Collections/Favorites/Games finished thread
|
on: May 09, 2004, 05:45:56 PM

Well, it seems that these two threads have dissapeared becom unsticky at the former forum, and I know that I liked looking through them. Figured we'd tie in the games finished So I was wondering if you guys wanted to start them up again? I'd say post your collections, games finished and post your top choices out of the collection. Maybe we can sticky it for reference purposes. Much better than having three separate thread. My collection for the most partI've finished: POP Beyond Good and Evil Luigi's Mansion Metal Gear The Twin Snakes Lost Kingdoms Wario World 1080 Snowboarding Metroid Fusion Metroid Zero Mission Fable Second Sight Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy - everything but the End rocked in this game True Crime Streets of LA <-- Liked it more than GTA Xmen Legends This has been a record year for me and beating games. It's amazing

nice try Graham except Starscream wasn't white... he was Grey and Red and was Megatrons lackey... sheesh..
Starfire actually had to be pulled off shelves because of copyright issues...
Seems Hasbro thought it could get away with releasing a carbon copy of a Veritech Fighter VF1-J I believe, and call it a transformer and not pay the Macross people any money...

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Nintendo and Sega's big annoucements thread-- bring it on!
|
on: May 07, 2004, 12:10:58 AM
|
|
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your speculation!
For Nintendo, the big new seems that we're going to see a whole new key franchise, on the same popularity level of pokemon. Ign editors are currently teasing their board members with very generic clues of an Asteroids arcade cabinet and a picture of an Asteroid impacting Earth. Probably doesn't mean anything, but adds fuel to the fire. One of the editor's, MJ, who is a big Xbox Fangirl, she used to write the xbox fan article on IGN, is even excited...
As for Sega, there are several rumors going about but the big one looks like Sega is going exclusive next gen with one of the big three. I haven't seen much more thrown on this one, but who knows...

andy you realize that upgraded version came out in Japan last year and included all the upgrades in the US version right... really has no bearing on AC2. The japanese version was fairly 'crippled' compared to the US version, hence the updated version, which is something NCL rarely does.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Transformers anyone?

After playing it in store at EB and I about threw up. Horrid control, it just grates on the skin, transforiming is worthless... It was basically a waste of the gorgeous graphics. Area after area of simple blasting enemies.

you must've missed the bus on the Gen 1 re-issue. They're limited edition re-releases of the original transformers. They're exactly the same as they're original counterparts. I'd go into your local Toys R Us and look for transformers, you'll probably see series 3 or 4 now, most of them run 29.99 for the middle sized guys, 49.99 or more for the larger guys like Optimus, and I don't think I've seen any re-issue of the smaller guys. Hasbro is also running a toy series called transformers universe, where you can get a multiplicity of different transformers across all the new series; Beast Wars, Energon, Armada and Original. I've been very tempted to pick up Jazz, he was one of my favorites as a kid. Collector's Edition Gen 1 Optimusor try this http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/104-6751922-9455918

there's definately an AC2 coming, it's just a matter of this gen or next. All talk is that they want to extremely expand the gameplay and allow even more interaction and communication between multiple players.
Animal Crossing 2 is definately coming, but I don't think you'll see it this generation.

Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / We should designate a Night as ConsoleGold game night.

on: May 05, 2004, 01:47:50 AM

Regardless of platform, I think that it'd be a good idea to schedule a night for CG'ers to hook up and play online.
Personally I suggest either wednesday or thursday, with a possible Sunday. Actually any other day than friday, as you all should be attending to some kind of extra-curricular social event...
The advantage is knowing that there should be a few consolegolders on that night for you to play with.

Games- #1 Live account transferability/use it on both machine if #3 doesn't happen-#2 Backwards Compatability-#3 Affordability-#4
I don't think we'll have any worries about power as it seems, from the "leaked" specs, that the machine will be stuffed to the gills with power.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Phantasy Star Online EP 1&2 or Ep 3?

I would love to try PSO ep3 online. Mainly because there are several cards that you can only get online and through trading. We have a BB adapter, but I think I'd like to pick up Ep 1 & 2 again so I can make that 8.95 a month stretch farther.

Just in case you were still wondering devils and kathode:
Tortoise = tebunker ~ Tebunkerthenextgeneration
The few weeks off really helped and so did a new online identity, I just recently went back to GG because I couldn't stand not having an intelligent place to talk games, especially my Xbox. Ign just can't cut it. That and the Tortoise name is/was a great to get a fresh start.
And I'd love to get the old moderator job back. It was enjoyable to be part of that group over at GG, and I know I allready like the crew here. That would certainly help take the double, triple and quadruple duty some pull here. Just DO NOT make me the mod of the Nintendo section...

Very sweet El, very sweet... So can I get my old job back
ATB, I'd be willing to bet that the Console forum at GG slows down even more than it is. I kinda prefer this one allready because I can break my discussions up further, discuss Xbox over there and Cube here and that way we don't get as much confusion, no more putting (XBOX) in a thread title...

I was clearly freaked out when I clicked on my favorites link and BAM, whole new look.
Shoot I just visited it last night... man.. Still don't know what to think about it, but I like the idea that you've gone in an opposite direction from GG.
Just thought of something that I am certain this BBsystem supports, skins. Are you going to create some and then enable them? A friend of mine runs a board with this software and he's got skins so we can each view the board in a manner we choose. Just a thought.
Some um, when are you gonna put me in charge
