Old & Wise - Alan Parsons Project

As far as my eyes can see
There are Shadows approaching me
And to those I left behind
I wanted you to Know
You've always shared my deepest thoughts
You follow where I go

And oh when I'm old and wise
Bitter words mean little to me
Autumn Winds will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they asked me if I knew you
I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine
And the sadness would be Lifted from my eyes
Oh when I'm old and wise

As far as my Eyes can see
There are shadows surrounding me
And to those I leave behind
I want you all to know
You've always Shared my darkest hours
I'll miss you when I go

And oh, when I'm old and wise
Heavy words that tossed and blew me
Like Autumn winds that will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that You were a frined of mine
As the final curtain falls before my eyes
Oh when I'm Old and wise

As far as my eyes can see

Or for the harder crowd I could always go with

A Tout Le Monde - Megadeth

Don't remember where I was
I realized life was a game
The more seriously I took things
The harder the rules became
I had no idea what it'd cost
My life passed before my eyes
I found out how little I accomplished
All my plans denied

So as you read this know my friends
I'd love to stay with you all
Please smile when you think of me
My body's gone that's all

A tout le monde (To all the world)
A tous mes amis (To all my friends)
Je vous aime (I love you)
Je dois partir (I have to leave)
These are the last words
I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free

If my heart was still alive
I know it would surely break
And my memories left with you
There's nothing more to say

Moving on is a simple thing
What it leaves behind is hard
You know the sleeping feel no more pain
And the living are scarred

Regardless, I'd also like Amazing Grace on the pipes.

I started Bass lessons this past Saturday.

I've borrowed a 5 String from a friend and signed myself and my youngest daughter up for lessons (she's on guitar though).

The following is cross posted from OO:

Impressions so far:

1. Today the first two fingers on my right hand are hella sore.
2. HO/PO's are tough
3. My left pinky is totally worthless. I am now investigating the feasablility of removing it and replacing it with some sort of steam powered robotic digit. I wonder if the Robot Devil is available.
4. I should have started this 20 years ago.

I have now formed some rather impressive blisters on the index and ring fingers on my right hand.

In an attempt to improve the status of my worthless left pinky I picked up a Gripmaster and now my entire left forearm and all the fingers on my left hand are weak and sore.

Here's my friends bass that I'm using:

Did you google it, do you have a name, or are you trying to give it away for others to guess?

I knew it sounded familiar but couldn't come up with an actual movie.  So I googled it and immediately made the connection and pictured the scene once I saw what it was.

Which is why I suggested that the line I quoted might make guessing the movie easier as the original line hinted at the movie but didn't quite make the connection for me.

I never want to hunt for torpedoes that are speeding towards my crippled carrier while it's preparing for warp jump (Starlancer and Freespace)

Bingo!  That's my biggest peeve in those types of games.

Speaking of Starlancer and it's ridiculous "hunt down every inbound torpedo" missions, while trying for the 12th time to get through that mission I was very very close to completing it and was firing on one of the torpedoes when some idiot pilot flies right into my line of fire and kerplodes.

Next thing I know I'm watching a cut scene where I'm placed in front of a firing squad and executed?

So a highly decorated pilot who has performed well above the call of duty and has personally saved the fleet multiple times gets summarily executed because some idiot pilot lacking any situational awareness gets himself killed by flying directly into my line of fire?

Something similar happened in Oblivion during the mission where the three Oblivion gates open up outside of Bruma.   Well, when the battle is finally over and everybody is shouting "hail the saviour of Bruma" and such and thanking me and letting me know what a great hero I am, etc etc, I walk to the Bruma gate where the guard says "halt you murdering fiend!"  I guess one of the defenders got a little too close during the fight.  So now I've gone from the Saviour of Bruma to murderous bastard.

Yeah, that e-mail system sucks.

I have not actually played the game but I've enjoyed watching my wife and daughters play it.

My wife and oldest daughter have both completed the story quests.  Jen (wife) has about 20 some fish left to discover including the elusive Leafy Sea Dragon.

Jen rates it as fun but depressing due to the fact that she'll likely never get to actually go scuba diving thanks to her epilepsy.

I found a few fish I couldn't identify by petting, pushing, whistling, feeding, etc in the deep area. Anyone who has been there have any ideas on how to identify them?

My wife's been having the same problem.  A shark and several smaller fish just would not identify after more than two minutes (we timed it on the shark) of petting.   She decided to surface and try again later to see if that would help.

Unfortunately, while I enjoy watching my wife play this I can only do so for a few minutes before she gets tired of me going "left, left!  No no, down more.  Now you've gone too far, go back to the right.  I said right, right!"  So I have to leave before she kicks me in the berries.

Although, it was funny to hear her say, "Hey, I'm rubbing the sperm whale!"

Edit - Turns out the underwater pen is the secret to unlocking a lot of the deep abyss dwellers.
