841  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Well, so much for Christmas this year on: November 24, 2009, 07:09:14 PM
Dude, that whole thing totally sucks, and there's nothing short of a lotto win that will make you feel great right now, but think of all of the awesome holiday memories you're making right now. Seriously, the holidays I remember best are the one's where things went wrong and we had to improvise. The Christmases where the power went out in our old house, the Thanksgiving in Florida with my grandparents when we had actually sat on the balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and watched a waterspout make landfall and turn into a tornado and have to evacuate. Any time I opened one of my aforementioned grandparents' legendarily awful gifts. Really, those always come to mind and make me smile now, because we just laughed about it then and made the best of it.

Still, I hope you're stuff gets fixed really soon and that you have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Watch the original Danish film, it is so fucking good. There was no reason to remake this one.

ETA - After watching the trailer, all I can say is, wow. Hollywood strikes again. Crap.

Damn the cost, Dragon Age is the game to play. Mass Effect is awesome, too, but some games just deserve full price. Unless you're really hurting for money, get DA.

847  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What is the best name you've ever given to a game character? And why? on: November 11, 2009, 03:38:40 PM
In RPGs, I always go with Gentry for a guy, and Tangriel for a gal. In shooters/action games, I go with Repo Man.

Can one burn a copy one gets from GOG and burn a copy to install on another PC? My good PC is having internet issues and can't hook up, but if I can transfer it over, I'd get it.

So, basically, it's the "he started it" defense. Considering his first career, he should have no trouble being the bigger man.

There's a difference between being honest and further lowering the standards of public discourse.

So, you'll change quoted posts when you reply to them due to curse words, but it's okay for a governor to curse at the state senate in a public document?

I don't think I will ever call it my absolute favorite, but it is a wonderful start to a new series (hopefully). This is a great Gothic reboot.
858  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Transformers 3! 7-1-2011! on: October 03, 2009, 04:34:51 AM
The second one was a 2 1/2 hour trailer disguised as a movie. Discordant, poorly filmed action scenes filled with random robots with little to no context. Terrible film, even by the first one's standards.

I agree the assing up of scores is rather peculiar. Perhaps the community can figure out a better way to ass them.

I always thought that somebody should hook up The Proclaimers with Vanessa Carlton. That way neither one would have to walk the full 1,000 miles, but could meet halfway. Or perhaps they could talk to Oleta Adams about the best way to travel the distance.

God, I just thought of another one.

The 80's were full of awful. "I'm never gonna dance again, guilty feet have got no rhythm." Ugh.

The aformentioned "Take My Breath Away."

Oh, that horrible Dirty Dancing song. "I had....the time of my life......." This thread is evil! My mind just keeps making leap after leap from bad to worse!

I'll give you Starship, but the '80s were full of aweSOME!!
863  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Battlestar Galactica: The Movie on: August 16, 2009, 10:42:38 AM
I love the most recent series (and am currently rewatching it on glorious bluray right now), and I think that that one will always be my favorite, but I'm a little curious to see what he'll do with it. I mean, it is silly to go back to that well so soon after the series if they're not going to go off of the series, but that's out of my hands, so even if it is cheesy, I'll always have my blurays.

Paul W.S. Anderson is not as bad as Uwe Boll but not much better.

The original Mortal Kombat and Death Race were both awesome popcorn flicks. Hell - Death Race was the perfect example of a 'leave your brain at the door yet enjoy the heck out of our near constant action scenes' movie, just like Transformers.

I would have enjoyed the film more if I hadn't read the book. As it was, I was apparently muttering to myself through much of the film about how much they changed (as told to me by my friend's sister who was sitting next to me).

Until recently, I had thought that Dunkleman was let go from American Idol when the producers decided to go with only one host. Can't belive he left on his own accord. That has to be hard to stomach for him.
With that Seacrest deal and the recent offer of 100 million to 144 million for Simon Cowell to return for another season, I wonder how much money Fox is making off of AI?

He still has several years left on his current contract unless something else is going on. From wiki
In 2006, Cowell signed to two more record-breaking deals. In the USA, he agreed to remain as a judge on American Idol, earning 20 million ($33 million) per season for another five years

He recently negotiated a new contract in the 100-144 million range.
