My cousin's a SEAL in that same unit. I can't imagine doing what he does over there. I hope that this SEAL's story is publicized far and wide so that people will see that there are still heroes in our military. Regardless of what anybody thinks of the war (and I have definite feelings about it and our current leadership), this type of sacrifice needs to be known.

Big congrats to you and Erin!! If you didn't know it before, you obviously picked a winner, considering that she laughed at your slip-up with the vows instead of kneeing you in the balls for ruining her "special day".
I was in Maui in June and it is an incredibly gorgeous place.

I've seen a couple previews saying it had an older guy using the PSP in it and a young kid using the DS.. sort of showing Nintendo with a "kiddy" image and the PSP for older gamers. Any comments on the videogame-related stuff in the movie?
There was a guy playing the PSP and there was mention of Playstation and XBox, but there was neither any mention or sightings of any Nintendo product. Oops, spoiler!

Hells yeah, that was anentertaining flick. My friend and I walked out saying that it definitely lived up to the hype. Not much else to say but that it was probably the best movie I've seen in the month of August in a looooooooooooong time.

Do you buy movies on DVD? If so, isn't it more of a value to get 13 episodes, plus the original miniseries for $45 on Amazon than a 2 hour film for $20? I understand not wanting to plunk down $80 for those HBO sets, but BSG is pretty cheap considering.

BTW, I'm sure you all have heard that Computer Games Magazine is launching a new mag just for MMORPGs.
They're calling it "Massive" (really).
That just kills me every time I hear it. slogan: I'm huge.

Out of curiosity, do you guys actually use this anymore? I can't remember the last time I had a *.rar to unpack but it was quite a while ago (and yes, I realize it works on other file formats also but I don't use those either). I know a lot of Oblivion mods use .rar.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Please Explain Animal Crossing: Wild World to me

Dude, you said you own the game, why not try it out for a week. I never get why people post threads about games they already own asking if it's worth it to play. You own it, play it and find out. I don't mean to come off like an asshole, but the game won't bite your hand off if you use it! Since his copy is still sealed it sounds like he found it, bought it and is trying to decide if he really wants to open it up or maybe take it back and exchange it for something else. He probably can't return it once its opened. Seems reasonable. If that's the case, then I can see his point; I may have misread it.

As for my impressions, I love it. It really is hard to describe, it's just that I'm pretty attached to my little town after a month and a half of play. I'm starting to invest in turnips to increase my bells (cash) so that I can remodel faster and my museum is getting pretty full with all of the donations I've made (you can donate bugs/butterflies, fish, fossils and artwork to the museum). My town is full of characters I like (if one of my favorites tries to move, I talk him/her out of it). I guess what I like is that there's always something new. Just this week, one of the townspeople who my character is friends with invited himself over to my place, which was unexpected. Also, a few neighbors gave me their picture because we were such good friends. I like all of the special events that come up and all of the visitors that come to the town, especially K.K. Rider, the little dog who plays guitar at the cafe once a week. It's a goofy little game, but I find myself hooked on it more than any of the others that I also play.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Has Portable Gaming Changed Your Gaming Habits?

Well, let's see, with:
Deep Labyrinth, Harvest Moon, Star Fox Command, Contact, Touch Detective, Scurge: Hive, Final Fantasy III & Zelda in the same week and the new Phoenix Wright all in the next 3 1/2 months, I'll be very busy. Today I played my DS in the office while waiting for a couple of people to change into their workout clothes. I've played it while waiting at the DMV and I play it at least a couple of times a day while at home. I looooooooove it.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / This better not be true.. [PSP2]
|

Because..
#1 - It's way too soon. They haven't even give the PSP enough time to gather a large enough consumer base to bringing out a new PSP already. DS Lite was released in the same timeframe as a PSP2 (if a PSP2 is indeed coming out). DS and iPod owners don't throw out their old systems once a redesign comes out. It's just how portable electronics work. The DS Lite isn't a sequel to the original DS, just a revamp. The PSP 2 would most likely be more advanced and I doubt you'd be able to play PSP 2 games on the OG PSP.
