Any chance someone who DIDNíT play the original could post some impressions?  Despite my best efforts I have never been able to get into a 3D Zelda game (have tried Ocarina on 3Ds and Twilight Princess on Wii).  I love the 2D top down versions but something about the third dimension doesnít gel with me.

For what it's worth, I also have a harder time getting into the 3D Zeldas compared to the 2D ones.  I think I've gotten to the end of every 2D Zelda I've played, and I've played almost every 2D Zelda, but I don't think I've made it all the way to the end of any 3D Zelda...

...except for Wind Waker.

And that's...the rest of the story.

Kato is so badass he doesn't need air support

When it comes to spiders, Kato left behind badass 100 pages in this thread ago.

I smell a threeway!

Its not the Granddaughter and Grandma in a threeway that's most disturbing here, but more to do with the fact that you are able to smell it  saywhat

It's the smell of lilacs and America.

They may be going for a more Benedict Cumberbatchian look for Holmes.

Well, the title of the piece should be "My 50 Favorites" rather than "best" or even "influential" as that is kind of sketchy. I'd actually be interested in a recurring feature like that; various staff members posting their most loved games and why.

It's not as if she's tearing it up on the big screen, so this could be a great opportunity for her. Plus, there may be a time travel story in the future that could reunite her with Cap.

Even with all of the inherent hassles involved with the system, I miss DOS.
133  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: iPhone/iTouch app and game thread on: September 20, 2013, 04:45:39 AM
From what I understand, the devs were just going to update the original, but the Junk Jack's program wasn't advanced enough to allow them to put in all of the new features that they wanted, so they made JJX. Owning both, JJX feels like Junk Jack 1.5 to me. I don't see any reason to pick up the original now, as JJX has all its features and more, and they did support the original quite a bit, so JJX should get a lot of substantial updates.

Yeah, I downloaded through iTunes on my Mac, and both my iPhone and iPad updates took 6 minutes apiece, and that was this afternoon.

Yeah, that one has the res set at 0, even after I set it in-game. When I set the the res in the "My Documents" folder, it screwed up the res, and it wouldn't work even after I changed the res back in the file. It was weird.

Do I want to help beta test this out or not...

I've only run in to two things I would consider major bugs, both of which I was able to fix on my own:

1) There was no resolution setting choice for 1680 x 1050 (fixed by editing config files)

I changed the reolution in the config file found in the game directory found in the "My Documents" folder, but it doesn't work; the screen displays the game wrong. Is there somewhere else I need to change the resolution, too?

JJX has combat, but it isn't as intense, plus there is an option to make it peaceful when building the world.

I'm really digging Junk Jack X on the iPad. I'm able to deal with the controls better than in the first game, and I'm enjoying the more laid back vibe of exploring, mining and building, versus the constant battling in Terraria.

Wait, youíre interested in the sequel despite having never finished the original?

Amnesia was a surprise for me.  I generally donít care for horror games but I was completely enthralled by the world and story from beginning to end.  I remember picking up the original on a whim during one of the Christmas Steam sales and I installed it three days before Christmas.  I ended up finishing the game on Christmas Eve as the sounds of tortured victims played through my headÖ  How is that for holiday cheer?  icon_biggrin

Sounds like the typical family get-together to me.
