Considering that this happened in Philly, it could have gone down a lot worse.

Damn kids today, with their instantgramming and twittering!
3  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Terminator: Genesis + a TV series? on: July 05, 2015, 03:26:26 AM
Time travel paradoxes have always been an issue for the series, but this one was just a total mess. Plus, digital Arnie looked like an action figure. Without spoiling anything really, I think the biggest winners from the events in this film were Sarah's original timeline roomie Ginger, and her boyfriend.

Especially with his disclaimer about how it positively, definitely isn't R&P. Seems disingenuous.

Well, I certainly have my differences with ATB's views occasionally, but he may just be annoyed with the media blitz surrounding Caitlyn's transformation, rather than the change itself (benefit of the doubt).

As I was reading that I kept expecting them to make fun of him or something.  I'm glad they didn't and it's just his quote.

I am sure that in business he was a jerk, mean, and hard to work with but what he has done since retiring is quite great.

I've always thought that he was probably a brilliant techie with limited social skills.

~20 years ago, I used to watch Coach when one of the local channels showed back-to-back reruns late at night. I remember enjoying it well enough, but it is such a random show to resurrect.

One of the worst experiences, and the one that made me start pre-ordering on Amazon, was when my son wanted a game for his Birthday. I went on the Gamestop site, found that a local store had them, and filled out the little reserve thing. I went to the store a few hours later and they said "Oh man, we sold out of that game a few minutes ago." I showed the guy my little reserve thingy and he said that it wasn't a guarantee. Then he asked me if I wanted to pre-order something. ARGH!

So you can take the game reservation, you just can't keep the game reservation.

Working at Targét, I am encouraged to offer guests our "Red Card". The thing is, if someone shops at Targets even a fair amount, 5% off of all purchases does add up over time, plus the free shipping, no fees, etc. The problem is that I am a terrible salesperson, as I take no for an answer. It's funny, because the most common reason I get for declining is that they are worried about identity theft. 9 times out of 10, they're telling me this as they're swiping a credit card through our machine.

19  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: NEW 3DS and XL on: February 15, 2015, 10:19:18 PM
The worst part of the name snafu is that most people who call into the store ask if we have the 3DSXL in stock, which we do, just not the "NEW NEW" 3DSXL, since everyone was calling the old one the new one, as it replaced the smaller version. I know that the guests calling in want the new system, but we had an inexperienced team member working in Electronics who told a few guests over the phone that we do indeed have the 3DSXL in stock. Those people came to the store, only to find out that it's the wrong one. What a fustercluck.
20  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: NEW 3DS and XL on: February 15, 2015, 01:29:02 PM
Working at Targét here in Asheville, NC, I can tell you that we only received nine of the new systems, all Zelda editions, on Friday morning. All but one were sold to people who camped out in front of the store.
21  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/360/XB1/Ps3/Ps4] Dying Light on: February 14, 2015, 08:59:18 PM
I don't mind the main story, though I agree the sidequests are better. It isn't Shakespeare, but I think they've executed most of the tropes pretty effectively.
22  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/360/XB1/Ps3/Ps4] Dying Light on: February 09, 2015, 04:25:55 PM
I am really loving the game right now (thanks gift cards!), and I will say that I particularly despise this game's autosave function. Does it save when I sleep in a safehouse? Not always! Does it save when I go to the tower or Rais' place? Not always! God forbid I try to play the game in the time before I have to go somewhere, because I am scouring the map for a safe place, and hoping that it will save the game. Quicksave, motherfuckers, learn to use it!

How deep is the crafting/base building/scavenging? I have a couple of hours put into State of Decay, and even though this one is obviously different in its presentation, I'm hoping that the aforementioned aspects are at least somewhat prominent and not just window dressing to disguise the parkour/combat parts. I'm also hoping for my traditional Valentine's Steam card, so that I may actually get this one, as I have sworn not to buy a game with my own money this year.
25  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Telltale & Minecraft on: December 22, 2014, 03:31:38 AM
I feel like if Telltale doesn't get lazy, this could be a really big deal for them. They could make a game that is really attractive to a younger demographic than they usually draw, and there isn't really too much mythology or lore holding them back. I think this could be a big deal for them in a way that Game of Thrones or Borderlands can't be, as great as they may be.

Anybody that complains about that trailer deserves to be bitch slapped with their own kidney. I mean, the movie might still suck, but that was a fun teaser. As for none of the old guard showing up, they're probably still working on CGI'ing them all up so that they don't all look 110 years old.
31  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Jurassic World on: November 26, 2014, 11:35:01 PM
Form my perspective, the series has had only one great film, so it jumped that Megalodon a long time ago. I don't look to these films for documentary level realism, and this is standard action sequel escalation. Any plot point can be good or bad, it just depends on the execution; I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt on the basis of that trailer.
32  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Jurassic World on: November 26, 2014, 04:07:16 PM
Don't know what everyone's complaining about; I thought that the trailer looked great. As for creating a new dinosaur, why not? They've already made three movies using versions of real dinosaurs, plus it makes sense from a story perspective that the scientists would want to press forward on their research and experiments. Maybe the film will be crap, but I'm at least intrigued enough to keep my eye on it, which is more than I could say for Jurassic Park III.

over here in Asheville, NC, we have $20.00 off deals for "Diablo: Reaper of Souls", and the base game, along with the Starcraft 2 games. This goes on through the 26th, should you want to grab one.

I remember enjoying the holiday specials growing up. I tried to watch The Great Pumpkin, but couldn't make it past the first 10 minutes. Maybe I just enjoyed the Dolly Madison snack commercials they would air with the cartoons back then.

Yeah, the poor reviews are all over the horrendously back breaking cost of $1.99. How the devs expect anybody to be able to scrape up such a major sum at short notice is beyond me. Now I'm off to buy a candy bar and soda for $5.00.

Yeah, I bought them without even looking at the descriptions, so when I checked my library, I initially thought had glitched by showing me two copies of each, but they're just the regular and special editions of each. I am so excited!
