I own a 360 now, but will be buying a PS3 before the year is out. So here it goes. 360: Mass Effect Halo 3 NCAA 08 (Right around the corner, YAY!) Madden (It better be good ) Blue Dragon Call of Duty 4 (Never thought they would go modern and get my attention again. ) GTA IV I don't think Lost Odessy or Too Human will make it in 07 or they would be there. PS3 Heavenly Sword (Jumped REAL high on my list after the ign interview/demo) Killzone - Looks great, now if they can just make sure the game play is 10x better than the original. Uncharted Ratchet and Clank Obviously MGS4, Little Big Planet, and a few others are not coming until 08 Wait and See: Assassin's Creed (Was real high on this and still think it will be good, but not great anymore) Blacksite Stranglehold (Starting to grow on me)

Honestly I think we are gonna see a boost in 360 numbers from June to December. It's been slim pickings in the game department as far as blockbusters. In the coming months you are gonna see Forza, Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, Bioshock, then GTAIV, Lost Odessy and the big daddy Halo 3. Right now unless you are a huge Guitar Hero fan you haven't had a reason to buy a 360 in a while. That's gonna change soon, and every month is gonna see the release of 1-3 possible AAA titles.

I quit for the pure fact that i could not find a group to save my life. Standing around trying to do solo quest gets old. I was also in two guilds that folded because too many people were leaving the game. I've moved on to LOTRO now, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back once the issues get fixed and they consolidate the servers.

2007 or 2008, don't really care, though I predict fall to early winter of 07 being the release date. I'm just speaking as far as how the game looked in that preview. The graphics just seemed on a Gears type level but with areas a LOT more vast. You can also obviously tell a lot of work has gone into putting together a really epic and engaging storyline which is really what I want most out of Action/Advanture/RPG games.
How did this get off of actual gameplay footage and onto delays and development cycles?

IGN Weekly has about 9 minutes of new Too Human coverage. I am really impressed with what they have done. The combat looks Ninja Gaiden like and the graphics look right up there with Mass Effect. You can also tell the story will be very epic and engaging. Count me in on this one.
To see the footage just go to ign.com and download IGN weekly.

I'd suggest Lord of the Rings Online also. Especially while you can jump right in on the open beta. MMO's tend to be a great way to test how strong your system really is. Mine is pretty similar to yours and my roomate pretty much cries at how much better it looks on my machine then his, and at how smooth it plays.

Why must we do this? Why must we really care. It's all personal. If you like one system over the other, then fine. I myself want them both to do very well, as i am a gamer and could care less about what company makes the games as long as they are great. I only own a 360 right now, but I KNOW I will be purchasing a PS3 down the road, there is no if's and's or but's about it. Can't we agree that both are pretty good next gen systems with potential to deliver us some great games and move on. Let's just talk about the games man... You'd think people were arguing over their penis sizes as much as people argue over 360 vs. PS3. And this is nothing directly toward you Hetz, I'd just love to see more direct game talk on this board overall. I love the impressions and personal game screen shots people give of games. It's why I visit this forum.

I'm shocked because I just knew Sony would do everything possible to keep that only on the PS3, or at least time limited on the PS3. Simultaneous is huge. This also reinforces my descision to hold off on a PS3. Right now there really isn't a reason to do it. With DMC, GTA, Assasins Creed and other games being multi platform, I just don't see a reason till a Final Fantasy game or some other RPG hits. Right now I think these games have to be multiplatform if they are getting get any sort of numbers.

The PS3 will be fine. It's just gonna take longer to push numbers is all. Mostly because the games just are not there, and most of the good games that will be hitting over the next 6 months will be on the 360 too. I think for the next year and a half, the 360 will own the U.S. (I don't really care about Japan, I don't live there), then the PS3's legs will overtake the 360 as bluray adoption gets even higher, and more exclusives like FFXIII and MGS hit. (Yes it will be that long before FF hits the states). I myself do not yet own a PS3, but the weird thing is, I KNOW I'm going to buy one once more exclusive games hit. Right now it's not worth it for me since I already have a 360. The Wii is definitely a fad. I think they will have very good system sales also, but I just think the software sales for them will be extremely low in the U.S. in the future, because basicaly there games will suck, except for Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Cart, and some new version of Animal Crossing. Third Party wise, they just won't be able to dish out great games.

I'm in Kojan. You either want to be a Kojani Human or Half Elf. The rooftop quest and quest to kill a master are pretty cool. You can fight your way up through the stronghold, or do what my group did and take to the rooftops. The jumps are tricky at first, because like I said the physics have changed. You will have people fall off from bad jumps, but remember /rope is your friend. Just target them, hit /rope and you can pull them back up. Another thing is there are assassins on the rooftops that pop up when you jump on them, so you have to fight them off. At the last rooftop neat the tower, you go to the edge and jump and it takes you WAY up in the air right to the grandmasters.

I'm really having a lot of fun with this game. I started a disciple in the Asian themed area, and the quest are amazing.
First I'm fighting for the emperor as a soilder, then when told to fight a master (lv 50 who I have no chance against) he spirits me away to a small village where I learn the error of my ways. There are other similar asian themed quest reminiscent of all the kung-fu/samurai movies you know and love. I especially love the stronghold quest that has you going over rooftops where the jumping physics are changed and you are going from rooftop to rooftop ala Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon style. Great stuff.

Well I preordered from the website and have put in about7 hours so far. I wasn't in the beta, but stability seems just fine. I've been running at right about 30 fps on balenced settings, except the occasional slowdown for new areas. Also I haven't been dropped from the server once. I'm playing a dwarf paladin and really liking it so far. The world seems HUGE, and i'll be happy to have a horse in a couple levels. Also diplomacy seems like it could really be a lot of fun. I can definitely see some peopl taking the time to specialize in just that. I was suprised at how good the graphics were on my poor machine, P$ 2.8 Ghz, 1GB RAM, x800. I think it looks better then EQ2. Now next week, when I receive my new computer (E6400, 2 GB RAM, 8800GTS), it will be on!

Yeah, while I think they will pretty much have the performance issue licked at launch, thee will be more game balancing in the first couple weeks of the game. I think they need about two more weeks to test this latest rash of changes. Either way I'll be getting the game soon enough. Nothing else out there is really holding my intrest as far as a mmorpg.

That's odd that you say that as I find Wow more souless and less immersive then EQ2. From the graphics, to the lack of voice acting, to the over-simplified quest. I just found the game too simplistic and easy. I also found that there was no true lore to discover as you could really get most everything from the previous warcraft games. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

DO you know how many Warcraft fanbois there are out there worldwide? That game was guarenteed at least 3-4 million worldwide on name alone. Wow hasn't really reinvented anything, they've just taken what they liked from EQ, ultima online and others to make a highly accessible game set in a world people already know about. There really isn't much innovative about Wow. Hell EQ2 had 500k numbers at one point, no reason vanguard can't reach that number if they play it right.

I don't think this game will do anywhere near WoW numbers as it does not have the following Warcrfat did. i do however think it can be as successful as EQ2 and maybe EQ1 in that it can reach a million dedicated players worldwide. There is solo content there, it's just that the really cool locales and gameplay is really group oriented. One thing i reallylike that the developers talked about is that since some dungeons are huge and could take hours on hours to get through, they have made safe spots in them where a group can log off and come back the next day and keep going. I think this is very important in a setting where there is no instancing.

So can I get a yes or no from you guys in the beta wether you will be purchasing Vanguard or not? I see what Calvin thinks. I'm still not in the beta yet, the hard drive space requirements are too much for me right now with the games I already have on my system. I will be getting a new computer soon though.

One other thing I find about having two competing consoles is that it really does help maximize my gaming dollar in the long run. Since the 360 came out I have purchased a few games that were not quite worth the price I paid for them, most notably Enchant Arms because I really wanted and HD RPG gaming fix. Once I have a PS3 I can see my self only purchasing premium titles just because I have so many options. Thus as time goes on my gaming dollar becomes well spent as I don't buy games for a gaming fix that aren't quite up to par. Imagine buying Mass Effect 2 whenever that comes out, and then not having to buy some sucky rpg just to get a fix, but getting the next Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Mana rpg. Imagine following up Halo with Metal Gear 4, Gears of War 2 with God of War 3, etc, etc... Gaming is gonna be great for years to come.

I agree that right now you get more bang for the buck with the 360, but games like FFXIII are why I WILL get a PS# at some point this year. Probably around June or so.
FFXIII, White Night Story, Metal Gear, Gran Turismo, Devil May Cry4, and a TON of good RPG's guarentee I will get a PS3 at some point this year. i don't see the price dropping anytime soon. At least two years before a price drop. You may find some pretty good bundles later this year though like you did with the 360.
With the possible exception of DMC 4 I don't see any of those games coming out in the US until at least mid 2008 though. I would be surprised if Metal Gear and Gran Tourismo come out before Christmas of 08. But I guess time will tell. I'll wait until they are actually available in the US before I consider a PS3. Hell Oblivion has been out on other platforms for 8 months and the PS3 version STILL got delayed past launch. This is true. Though Heavenly Sword, VF5, and Lair all coming out this year and look pretty good. I already have a 360 and I'm loving it! now I get to have a PS3 too, so i'll be in gaming heaven for years to come. For the first time ever i can truly afford to get all the good games for two consoles that I want. I don't see why so many people are in love with one system or the other. Why not love and get both and enjoy a bunch f great games?

The current release date seems to be Jan 30-31st. So it has more then a month. I'll still give it a chance for a bit longer as I've heard the same about almost every MMO I've played a month befor release. People told me EQ2 would be horrible upon releas and I bought it anyway and enjoyed it. I'll keep my eye out for impressions, and pray for the NDA being lifted soon.

Part of the question with these things is, when are these type game ever really ready. There will always be changes.
Are the issues with vanguard content related our stability related. If it's game stability, that's something that can be improved almost overnight. If it's a lack of content or pure game bugs, it's another story.

I think there is still a market out there. You just need an engaing story and game mechanics for it. I've never had a problem with a difficult mmorpg. I just need to like actually playing the game, and it has to have a story/history that intrest me and makes me want to learn more.

Looks like it should be coming out in late January. I know it's from the original makers of everquest, but I feel that is a good thing. For it's time the original everquest was an excellent game and provided a lot of depth. I'm really hoping that there is an open beta available, or that the NDA is lifted soon so that i can get some impressions. If anyone has had a chance to play it, PM me.

True, but killer app games sure help move systems in those early days. Case in point, the new Zelda on the Wii.
Personally, I'm glad the PS3 doesn't have a killer game yet because I don't want to pay that much for a new console or deal with the low supply difficulties.
I totally agree. There is no real killer app out right now for the PS3. It's probably why I and others am in no real rush to buy one. Anything I might buy, I can get on the 360. By the time the games like Metal Gear 4, Grand turismo, and Final Fantasy hit, it should be a LOT easier to walk in a store and buy a PS3. Already having a 360 has made me quite patient in my console buying when it comes to the Wii and PS3. I'm very happy with the next gen games available to me, so why camp, call, and ebay my way to a new system. I can see myself waiting till June to get a PS3 now, though I know I WILL get one. Don't know about a Wii yet. I have to see them put out more good games like zelda, I'm not big on the gimmick/party stuff.

I think the Wii will do well in colsole sales early because of the low pricepoint and it's hitting a bit of the Mass market. The problem is the casual gamer is not a hefty purchaser of games. They will buy 1-4 a year and that's it. MS and Sony will hold the hardore market and get it's share of the casual market, but will have a TON more software sales as hardcore camers buy a LOT more games. And to an extent the graphical differnce will come into play. I know a lot of people will want to use the DS as an argument to say it won't, but I submit that the in home console market is a lot different then the handheld market. As long as it's fun, people don't tend to care as much about graphics on a handheld. On a console I thin you are gonna see a lot more people get tired of the last gen graphics.
The Wii seems to be a nice nitch product, but I don't see the staying power with the games. In the end the games are all that matter.
