Anyone looking to sell this.  I hate that i missed it at $40.00 at Best Buy in December, but I didn't have a PS3 then.

Just got my PS3 and with no games purchased, this was the first thing i downloaded.  Excellent demo.  I know for sure now that I'm getting this game.  One question, does it have all the minor league affiliates too?

It's Spiderman 3, so don't get too excited  icon_wink

Very true.  I have now become a blueray bargain hunter.  Anyone know any good sites for finding deals on blueray movies?
44  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: More PS3 Questions on: February 17, 2008, 09:23:47 PM
Well  got my PS3 this morning.   haven't purchased any games yet, but I am currently downloading the MLB08 demo along with Uncharted, Rachet and Clank, resistance and and a few others.

Things I have noticed so far:
1. The Controller is VERY light, probably because of no rumble capability.
2.  The system is VERY quiet, especially in comparison to the 360.
3.  The interface is functional, but not as good as the 360 and xbox live.
4. Setup is a breeze and having my account attached to the PSN Network for any purchases is a LOT easier then going out and buying MS points and trying to determinehow much something is costing me.

That's it for now.  i haven't watched the movie that came with it yet. (Spiderman3) but I am anxious to do so and see how much better it looks than a normal dvd.

Well I'm currently using my cable box for hdmi connection, so I will probably use component for the PS3.  Now, one more questions for you guys.

First PS3 game?  Rachet and Clank, Uncharted, Folklore?  I also never played Ninga gaiden on the original xbox, so i'll get that on the PS3 too at some point.
46  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / More PS3 Questions on: February 16, 2008, 09:22:51 PM
So I think I will be taking the plunge soon and getting a PS3.  Problem is I still have a few unanswered questions.

1. Will the PS3 do 1080i?  This is a big one for me.  My tv does 1080i and not 1080p, so I wanted to make sure I would still get a very high quality on my blueray movies as it's one of the main reasons I'm buying one.  if I knew movies would look just as good as say the Discovery HD channel, then that would wrap up most doubts on a purchase.

2. Does it play normal DVD's?  I have a huge dvd collection and I would be moving out my dvd player in my entertainment system to make room for the PS3 so it MUST play normal dvd's.

3. Do the new systems come with the rumbling controller.  This is not a big one, but I still do love the rumble effect in my 360 controller and it would be kinda weird not to have it on the PS3.

4.  Who has the best deal right now?  The only thing I see so far is the PS3 with the Spderman 3 blueray.  Is there anything else out there or will there be any other deals on the horizon? (Say in the next 3 weeks?)
47  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New trailers - FFXIII and FF Versus XIII - PS3 exclusives on: December 17, 2007, 04:50:06 AM
I like those other games for the PS# shown.  i just don't think they were enough to put me over the edge to buy one.  A GTAIV exclusive would have been, but it's on the 360 also.  it's gonna take FFXIII or a new mana game, or maybe White Knight story.  Or a next gen Xenogears, oooohh...  Why is it taking so long for the PS3 to get these titles out there! mad

Anyway back on track.  Loved both trailers and can't wait.
48  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New trailers - FFXIII and FF Versus XIII - PS3 exclusives on: December 17, 2007, 01:55:13 AM
I'm all about it.  FFXII was great and i'll be all over FFXII.  I probably won't get a PS3 until it or another rpg I love comes out exclusively for the PS3 though.
49  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mass Effect Impressions: Release Day Edition on: November 21, 2007, 09:58:27 PM
As far as my choices, I just think, what would Jack Bauer do? Tongue  So it mostly winds up:

Save innocents if possible: Yes
Do a person in trouble a favor: Yes
Take *#%^ from anyone: HEEEELL NO!
Allow some dirty, murderous villain to live:  Oh no.  You have to die.  icon_twisted

It's left me mostly Paragon, but I have a nice little chunk of the other too.

Oh yeah, get Wrex and the Taurian in the elevator together.  They have one conversation that's classic.
50  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mass Effect Impressions: Release Day Edition on: November 21, 2007, 03:24:05 PM
My character is a vanguard, and I'm liking the combat/biotic action.

One thing I will say is that Saren is "ok" as a main bad guy, but right now has not entered my top 10 villains list.  The matriarch however just seems like a really cool badass villain chick.  Maybe she will turn out to be the ultimate buy guy.
51  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mass Effect Impressions: Release Day Edition on: November 21, 2007, 06:14:04 AM
Well I'm done playing for the night.  I've put in 7 hours per the game, but more like 8 after reloads and such.  So impressions:

Quite simply I LOVE this game.  It does remind me of KOTOR a bit, but with more action.  Sure the controls are not fully like Gears, but they are close enough for me.  I love the story (Jack Bauer in space), the graphics, and the rpgness (Is that a word) of the game.  I can definitely see myself playing through multiple times too.

Just to be fair, I have noticed some of the buginess. One the texture pop in which is very insignificant for me.  Two getting randomly stuck when moving in combat.  This has happened to me twice.  the first time it got me killed, the second time it went away after 5 seconds.  Third, I did have one moment where a conversation would not start, it might have been my not doing something, but who knows.

All and all I can easily look past those minor issues for a great story, graphics and depth.

Some random things:

There are real choices:  I was not kidding when I said it feels like Jack Bauer in space, twice I've made decisions where other rpg's would not let me go to that extreme.

I actually want to listen to the conversations: many times the story is just added fodder for rampant killing.  Here there is a reason for things and the conversation and voice acting are so good that I actually pay attention to what's being said instead skipping over it.

Best presentation in a long time: I don't know, the game feels like a movie a lot of the time, they use great angles and closeups to add to the drama and really keep you engrossed.

On the negative side I'm shocked Bioware which is known for releasing quality titles would let some of these bugs slide.  They've made a tremendous game, but they've given people a reason to whine because of one to many bugs.  I wonder if they could have gotten rid of a few with another 30 day or so in the cooker?  they still could have been out before Christmas and probably would have gotten 9.7's instead of 9.4's.

Anyway bottom line.  If you like a great story, characters and presentation.  If you are a KOTOR or Jade Empire fan, or if you just like a good game, I'd recommend it.  if you want Gears or Halo or some FPS with a little rpg thrown in, then you might be disappointed that it's not what you were expecting.

54  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS3]typical.....MGS4 delayed on: November 01, 2007, 07:16:04 AM
I know it may seem that I am jumping on Sony, and maybe I am a bit, but only really because in the end I want them to be successful.  I just don't see a boatload of jrpg's being released on the 360 and that is one of my favorite genre of games.  I want to see a next gen secret of mana game, final fantasy tactics, kingdom hearts, xenosaga, star ocean, dragon quest and  Suikoden.  But I don't think it will happen if Sony does not get their act together, or they will be put on a Wii and I won't get the truly next gen experience I wanted out of those titles.
55  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS3]typical.....MGS4 delayed on: October 31, 2007, 08:40:42 PM
Because there are simply a lot more good games out for the 360 then the PS3.  When a new next gen console purchaser walks into Best Buy to get a system and GTA IV, he will see Resistance, Rachet, and a couple other games to go with that PS3.  He will also see Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Lost Odessey, and a ton of other games to buy.  The tendency is to go with the system with the great games already in hand.  Don't get me wrong, there are some great multi platform games that will be out like COD4, Virtua Fighter, and of course all the sports games, but the 360 crushes the PS3 as far as exclusives right now.
56  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS3]typical.....MGS4 delayed on: October 31, 2007, 08:25:02 PM
Only games that would compete with GTA IV are Halo, Mario and a Final Fantasy game.  Nothing else comes close.  GTA IV WILL sell systems, and it's looking more and more like it will be 360's.

Oh well.  It was delayed for a reason, and it doesn't hurt me any waiting for a polished, wonderful product.

I'll just keep playing Eye of Judgment, Resistance, and Ratchet & Clank (once I grab it) now, as well as grab Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Unreal Tournament 3, and INFAMOUS before mid-year next year.  Boy, why did I ever consider getting a PS3 before mid-year next year?

Good for you, but really other than Little Big Planet, none of those games interest me.  I would be getting a PS3 mostly for the great rpg's.  I can get other iterations of those game (actually better) on the 360.  Plus I get a TON more good games to play.

None of those games is a system seller, and in the big picture for Sony it's puts them even further behind the 8-ball.  I've felt for a while that they needed one other really big system selling game to go with GTA IV so people would at least consider getting a PS3 and not a 360, now If I don't have a next gen console yet come GTA IV release and I look at the two available libraries, there is no question which system I get.

Don't get me wrong, at some point I WILL buy a PS3, the question is, will I buy one in the next 3-6 months or will I wait an entire year, which I believe Sony can't afford users to say on a large scale.  They need those new buyers NOW because the gap (at least in the U.S.) is getting bigger and bigger.

59  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Rumor: 2009 Bioware MMO is based in KotOR universe on: October 30, 2007, 03:12:40 PM
I for one will be all over this.  I know some people hate MMO's because they feel it's just a leveling grind with no story, but I would suggest too many people are caught up in thinking WoW when they hear MMO.  I for one am still a consistent EQ2 player and the thing that keeps me going IS the storyline.  It's the one MMO with deep storylines and quest that make sense and make the world even more fun to explore.  I would suggest some of you give that a shot and look specifically at the storylines.

With Bioware's reputation for quality and engaging story, i am expecting an even better EQ2 in the Star Wars universe.  I for one can't wait.  This is the type of game that would make me upgrade my computer.

64  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dean Takahashi "Sony pleads with Third Parties not to abandon PS3" on: October 22, 2007, 01:18:11 AM
As a console fan, I REALLY do want the PS# to do well because I know they would put out some of the best RPG's (My favorite genre of game), but it is looking more and more like they are going to come in third for another holiday season.  The 360 right now has some serious mojo going.  Halo3 was HUGE and allowed them to pick up a nice spike in consoles that they might be able to maintain through Christmas.   Add to this that Mass Effect looks like a slight system seller, and they could do 500k plus again in November or December, putting Sony in an even bigger hole.

Sony needs to get out quality games quick, and definitely before GTA IV ships (The next big system seller).  People that are still on the fence about getting a system will probably get one then and if the PS3 does not have enough good games out by then in comparison to the 360, then they will be in big trouble.

Sony's biggest hurdle right now is price, and the fact that they will never be as cheap as the 360.  Soon as the PS3 gets any traction, MS is just gonna lower the price again.
65  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: September NPD Results (US) - 360, Wii, DS ~500K. Sony dead in the water on: October 22, 2007, 01:04:01 AM
Well MS better figure out a way to get them or they will NEVER win worldwide.  Japan is a JRPG haven and no console will win Japan unless it has the great JRPG's to back it.  Also, as time goes on, those PS2 owners who have been waiting on a price drop for the PS3 are seeing the great games that are hitting the 360 and they are converting, or at least investing in two consoles.  I think more and more of the late 360 adopters are those PS2 owners, and the type of people who will buy JRPG's.  Lost Odyssey is gonna be a big test for the validity of JRPG's on the 360.  If they are smart, they will market it as a final fantasy clone.  Two Worlds got it's buyers from pretty much putting themselves out there as another Elder Scrolls, if the game was actually any good, it would have done a LOT better.
66  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: September NPD Results (US) - 360, Wii, DS ~500K. Sony dead in the water on: October 21, 2007, 03:42:41 PM
I don't think we can really judge JRPG's on the 360 until a really good one comes out.  Say what you want, but I have played Enchanted Arms and Blue Dragon, and while they can be OK, they are no where near the great JRPG's the PS2 had.  Lost Odyssey is shaping up to be a pretty good game, and I think it will do better.  360 owners are looking for great gameplay now, and no rpg's on the 360 have really had them.  Expect the next 3 major rpg releases on the 360 to do well:

Mass Effect
Lost Odyssey
Too Human
67  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: September NPD Results (US) - 360, Wii, DS ~500K. Sony dead in the water on: October 19, 2007, 04:47:35 AM
2008 might just be too late.  Over the next 6-8 months and definitely through the holiday season, a couple things will not change.

1.  The PS3 will be the most expensive console on the market.

2.  The PS3's software lineup is abysmal compared to the 360.  I mean they are getting crushed on the software end.

So for the next 6 months AT LEAST the 360 will continue to kick their buts in hardware and software sales and developers are not going to take note?

Sony's best chance right now is to have Final Fantasy ready in the US market when GTAIV releases.  GTA is the next big system selling game (Mass Effect will sell some systems but not on a Halo level).  If when GTA releases on both the 360 and PS3 and Sony does not have another great title to go with it, then the 360 is going to at least triple them in that month.  What would you buy, a PS3 with Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, and Lair or a 360 with Halo3, Mass Effect, and Bioshock, not to mention a ton of other top rated games not on the PS3?

All in all I think it's over.  They are simply more expensive without the top flight exclusives to back them up.  I don't think even Final Fantasy and Metal Gear can help in the end.  Too big a hole and too much momentum to come back from.
68  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: September NPD Results (US) - 360, Wii, DS ~500K. Sony dead in the water on: October 19, 2007, 03:32:30 AM
At the end of the day I think the 360 wins.  They will have a pretty nice install base and they have the software sales that will keep all the developers flocking to them.  The Wii is a hardware selling giant, but can't sell software because it's really non gamers buying the system who couldn't give a damn about Metroid.  Nintendo just needs to make party games and call it a day.  It's looking more and more like I will only own one system this generation.  No way Final Fantasy and maybe even Metal Gear stay PS3 exclusives with this horrible install base and tons of buying gamers with 360's anxiously waiting.

You can hit select to go the map, then scroll through the different sections.  One is for radio messages and you can play them all back.  I've made it to Arcadia now and this game just gets better and better.  Also a minor note for those debating whether to rescue the Little Sisters or not, it looks like in the end it will all even out as so choose whichever you feel best suites your playstyle.

I also wanted to mention. Very minor spoiler.

Spoiler for Hiden:

I think it's proven in MMO's that these games need polish when they are released or they could die REAL quick.  I do see the reason for the server merge as they want to make it so that grouping in the game actually happens, therefore improving the player experience and building word of mouth.
77  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: July NPD - "The Wii is just a fad" on: August 24, 2007, 12:12:02 AM
I really don't understand who is buying these Wii's.  I know a lot of gamers and for the most part they are not even thinking about the Wii much.  If it is casual  or nongamer types buying them, then expect to see horrible software sales in relation to how many systems they have out there.
