I was a bit surprised to see that Necromancer has no life drain ability. Was definitely expecting one somewhere in the tree. Wonder if this is even mod potential.
You could definitely mod at least some types of life drain into the game since there is a life steal obelisk.

I'm not seeing any options anywhere for the pet stances.
When you have a pet out, it's the icon that is a little to right of your character's name and health bar.

having a hard time playing a pet class. seems pets just sit around and do nothing until either I attack something or I get attacked. This makes it very difficult to play as a primary pet user. I'm squishy so I don't want them attacking me first, and I want my pets to be my primary assault so me attacking first seems like a misplay as well. Are you playing with a recent version? In one of the later versions I added a defensive/agressive stance choice for pets and shifted the default from defensive to aggressive.

surprised it's not used more often, it's pretty well implemented. only thing missing is a main battle.net type lobby area that might get more people in I guess.
Yeah, a chat lobby would be nice. I haven't gone quite that far because usually you would have an account with login name so you knew who was who.

Having a blast once more with this. I need more people to play with though, definitely enjoy multiplayer in this game. I've been trying to encourage more people to play online. Like in version 1.001 you can now pause in multiplayer if you are the only person in the game.

Roger that. It will be on this sites front page I should really pay attention to forum titles so I don't look quite so foolish.

It worked itself out when I logged in again. He was just standing there and I was unable to damage him. Other than that, this game is addicting. Thank you for an amazing game EDIT: I also think this game needs a review. I will need to put some more time in first though. Thank you very much for making this cross platform! That's weird. A review would be very cool. Please yell at me if you post one (or post here).

Steven, can you add an auto-pause while shopping? I think this would be a useful change, and it would save me a keystroke. I also noticed that there are quests to build defenses in the town. Are those new, or did I just not get any of them before? The problem with pausing on inventory type screens is that identifying is real-time so if I pause you won't be able to identify stuff. The defensive town totem quests are new in version 0.904.

I am aware that people are having issues with the cave-ins and will be looking at it. They are meant to be dangerous but not to be instant death.

i was installing it directly from the demo link in impulse. i wonder if that was what caused the problem? in any case, it works so it obviously didn't cause the install to fail, just made it look like it did. played about an hour and i was mighty impressed. good game!
Ah, ok, it's something to do with the Impulse system. I've told the Stardock guys about it, but it doesn't sound like it's actually causing any problems (other than some confusion). Wow, Brian's kind of fast, he managed to post before me. not sure i like that another covenant declared war on me for no FN reason, and with my only friend in the camp a lvl 1 newb, we were wiped out pretty quickly.
and the best part? no way to make peace.
That pretty much means your relations with them got too low and/or you were a good target. You can TRY to make peace with another covenant. It is on the trade screen.

Hmmm....just installed the demo for Depths of Peril and, while it seems to have installed successfully, it gave me a "Can't find network resource" error towards the end of the installation process.
Did you install the demo directly from us (Soldak)? If you did, I don't know why on earth it would give you that error. There shouldn't be any resources required outside of the installer and it doesn't try to access the internet or anything. I figured out what the tutorial bug is. I considered attack to be a skill since it's in the skill tree, and tried putting it on my bar, figuring I didn't have any other skills at lvl 1. Attack doesn't fulfill the requirements for the quest, but other skills do. Also, I got some quest from a monster to kill 3 zombies, except whenever I killed a zombie it didn't register in the questlog.
Ah, ok that makes sense about the tutorial quest, I'll have to fix that. For the zombie quest, you probably need to kill them in a specific place. Some kill quests are specific and others are more general. For example, if there is an uprising of zombies somewhere it's important that you kill zombies in the correct place. If a town NPC says kill 5 zombies to prove your worth, then it doesn't really matter where you kill them.

More depth of play, less depth of story.
Less depth of story really depends on how much you want to get into the backstory. There are around 40 tomes that you can find that have 60,000+ words of story in them (about half a novel). Any thoughts on an expansion? Or are you planning a whole new game next?
I have plenty of thoughts about an expansion and other games, you will just have to wait and see what we have planned next.

Just thought I would drop in and answer some of the Depths of Peril things here. I'll check out Depths of Peril but the only phrase that I hate almost as much as action adventure is action RPG. I have never accepted Diablo, et al as RPGs. I'm a snob and I know it.
I know a lot of people that don't consider action RPGs real RPGs. Depths of Peril does add a bunch of things like the competing covenants and a dynamic world that will hopefully at least make it closer to a real RPG for you. I read your post here last night, downloaded the demo for DoP, and have become quite interested in this title. Diablo II is possibly my favorite PC game of all time, and I've been looking for similar games ever since. So far, I'm not finding a whole lot of reviews for DoP, but the ones I have found, have all been quite positive.
The easiest way to find reviews for Depths of Peril is to jump over to our Depths of Peril press page. I hate that the camera is set so close to your character. You can barely see anything coming before it aggroes on you. Also, the tutorial quest is borked (not a good first impression). I was told to put a skill and an item on my action bar. I did so and then the quest giver pretended I either didn't have the quest or didn't complete it. Overall I'd say it's a decent game, but I'm not sure it would hold my interest long enough to buy the full thing.
I think someone else mentioned this already, but you can zoom in and out in the game. Either use your mouse's scroll wheel or change it in the graphics options menu. I haven't heard of any problems with that tutorial quest, I'll take a look at it though.
