I went to one when I was in Kansas City a couple years ago. I thought it was pretty good. We had the lettuce wraps and enjoyed them. I am going to try that recipe Daehawk linked.

5  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / So, anyone ever had a sleep study? on: October 15, 2004, 03:24:08 PM
My mother just went through this and ended up getting one of those machines that you wear when you sleep.

My finace says I snore like a beast at night and sometimes stop breathing. My mom and her finally rode my ass enough to make me go see my regular doctor. They sent me to an ENT. I go next Friday.  Every time I get any type of exam, they all say the same thing. "Wow! You have huge tonsils!". Last time I went to the doc, last week, he commented "I'm shocked you can breath through those". My assumption is that I will have to have my tonsils out. I guess I will know Friday.

I do know that I sleep over eight hours a night and I always seem to be tired.  I would be nice to sleep and wake up rested and refreshed.

10  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / LOST - 10/13/04 - HOLY CRAP!!!!! on: October 14, 2004, 01:58:24 PM
I love this show. I have been watching every Wednesday since it started.

Couple things...

1) Somebody mentioned on EBG in my thread about how they thought they saw a polar bear in the Spanish comic that the little boy was reading. Then later in the show, they killed the grungy looking polar bear when they were trying to pick up a signal on the transceiver. Was anyone able to verify that? I don't have Tivo so I can't do it myself.

2) Last week when the little boy had lost his dog, his father said he would look for the dog after the rain stopped and the rain immediately stopped.

Is there any tie between the two? Or is it strictly coincidence? I have no idea but I found the possibility intriguing.

All in all, this show really has my interest. The little cliques of information horders is funny. Jack and Kate seem to be the only ones who know everything. Jack and Kate are hiding what happened to the pilot from the others. Sayid (I’m sure I butchered the spelling) and Kate are hiding the French transmission from the rest of the survivors. It's clear Jack is the leader of the survivors but I'm not sure he wants to be. Something dark will come out about Jack before long, I'm sure.

-Why didn’t Jack want to be a part of the memorial service?
-Who is the guy in the sneakers and suit that Jack keeps seeing?
-Is Rose’s husband dead?

I really hope the blonde eye candy dies of starvation. She bugs the hell out of me.

Yeah, I actually was. Then again, I was looking forward to the Orioles season too. I was kind of hoping to see Jagr with the team the entire year and liked the possibility of seeing Henrik Lundqvist break onto the team. I don't think Blackburn has what it takes. Was also kind of hoping Lundmark would come into his own this season as well.
12  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / NHL Starts tonight......NOT! on: October 13, 2004, 02:15:57 PM
All I can say is I'm bummed out that the NHL season is on hold. As a NY Rangers fan I was excited to see what they were going to do this season. Nice to see some youth back on my team. I have heard it might take as long as two years before we see another NHL game. I really hope this isn't the case. I am hoping that they get it worked out this year, but it isn't looking good.

I think the NHL expanded entirely too fast and into too many markets that won't support a team. IMO, I think the NHL can lose some teams without much impact.

Off the top of my head I would say the Pens, Thrashers, Hurricanes, Panthers, Blue Jackets, Predators and Ducks can all go.

Oh yeah. The Devils can go too. But only because I really dislike them cause they beat up on my Rangers all the time.  biggrin

14  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Urge to kill rising, most hated commercial category on: October 13, 2004, 01:21:21 PM
I really REALLY hate the Geico commercials. "By the way, I just saved a ton of money on car insurance". Bleh.

I don't know if Gebco is a nationwide company or not so everyone might not know these commercials. I know they run here in the DC area and they make me nuts. They have a bunch of women dancing around Baltimore Ravens lineman Jonothan Odgen. "Go Gebco Go Gebco Go Gebco".   :x

My fiance HATES the computer but can waste an entire Saturday watching Lifetime movies. WTF? I don't get the difference. I keep telling her at least the computer is interactive. /shrug

I have been warning her that when WoW or EQ2 comes out I will probably be logging a lot of time. At least at first. She's none too happy about it. I am trying to convince her to play but it doesn't look good for me.

17  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [FFL/NFL] Brett Favre and FFL Trade Question on: October 11, 2004, 06:10:05 PM
Any chance Brett Favre goes off tonight? I am down by 40 points this week and he's my only player left. I am hoping for another performance like he posted against the Colts a couple weeks ago.

Damn Deuce McAllister for being a game-time decision. I started Stecker just to be safe and Deuce rushed for 100+ against the Bucs. Sigh.

Damn Michael Pittman for being dismal this week after rushing for 70 yards last week. Sigh.

I didn't start Rattay and he went for over 400 yards and 3 scores. Sigh.

It is bad when Steven Jackson outscores your starting RB's from the bench? Sigh.

What do you think of the following trade in a $100.00 salary cap/keeper league? We keep 2 players.

Jamal Lewis ($26.00), Jake Delhomme ($6.00) and 2005 2nd Rounder for Rudi Johnson ($14.00) and Brett Favre ($15.00)? It's an idea I am toying with. The guy with Lewis is 3-2 with Q.Griffin as his only other Rb worth mentioning. I am 1-3 (probably 1-4 after tonight) and my season is most likely done. We only play 13 games. I figure you need 9 wins to get in the play-offs.

I will be keeping McAllister and Jackson/R.Johnson depending on what happens in the off-season.

I, being a Chiefs die-hard, can't say I feel sorry for a Raiders fan. That said, I did think Collins was the best option there. Bigger arm and  younger/more durable. Tuisisopo (Sp?) time in Oakland?

I heard a great comment the other day on SIRIUS about Portis. They (Riggins and ????) were saying that Portis runs too quickly to the hole to run the counter. He doesn't let the play develope in front of him. Anyhow, the suggestion was to line Portis up a yard deeper to give the line more time to open the holes and allow the blocking to develope.

Another problem is clock management. I didn't see the last game against the Ravens but the previous two games, the clock management was terrible.

I am not a Skins fan at all but I would think Gibbs can iron out the issues. If not, perhaps the game has passed him by.

How long before the love affair is over and the media here in Washington start ripping Gibbs a new ass? If it were anyone except Joe Redskin they would have had his ass by now.

Eightball I'd take your defense and my offense any day. Maybe KC and Washington can combine into one team. What a great coaching staff we would have. Vermeil, Saunders and your all-star staff.
21  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Whats your favorite board style? on: October 11, 2004, 02:10:55 PM
I like the Cobalt but it was too hard on my eyes. Too busy pehaps? Right now I am using the silver. I haven't tried the black yet.
22  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Sattelite Radio questions on: October 11, 2004, 02:04:31 PM
My fiance recently bought me SIRIUS for my birthday. I love it. They play all the NFL games which is the single reason I chose it over XM. I think they also do all the NHL (if there is going to be an NHL season) games as well. Having Stern come to SIRUIS was just a bonus for me. Hopefully he will get back to being funny instead of whining about the FCC and Tom Chiasano all the time.

Anyhow, regardless of which you choose, once you switch to satellite radio you won't go back.
