Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Music Recording Software for PC

I'm looking to do some simple music recording (guitar/vocals/bass) on PC...I need recommendations for software. I've played around w/ Garageband on Mac and was amazed at how simple it seemed...is there anything similar available for PC?

I picked one up today. It's very slightly bigger than the 30gb Ipod video, but the screen is much bigger. Video looks pretty good on it, and the zune software is very itunes-ish, so if you've used one it shouldn't be too hard to pick up the other. The included FM radio is a nice addition. The only thing I'm not seeing yet is podcasting support...but that may be coming down the line yet.

Also many LCD monitors (at least my Dell) will have 2 (or more) inputs on them. I use the DVI out on my LCD monitor for my PC, and use the VGA port for my 360. There's a button on the front of the monitor to switch between the inputs.

Oh wow... I would pick up both the GBA re-release of FF6 and a DS re-working of FF6! That's one of my favorite games of all time.
Assuming we're talking about the same FF that was FF3 for the SNES, ditto here. Easily the best console RPG I've ever played (I never got around to the chrono series, though it's on my eventual TODO list).

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Dead Rising impressions!
|

My game keeps locking. I played for a little while, getting inside the mall and finding the other photographer. I had saved, then turned off the 360. I came back later, and the save game wouldn't load (it sat on the loading screen forever, with the "Judo Throw" preview thingie). So I tried starting a new game, and got to the rooftop with the odd-looking guy (2nd playable part of the game). When I tried to go inside the security office, the game locked up again (on the same loading screen). I tried my disc in another 360, and it works on a different machine. Should I be scared?

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Dead Rising impressions!

You know, I am very tempted to do the exact same thing. Yes, I am on standard def. So the VGA cable might be the way to go here. How much does a good one run for and where is the best place to buy one? I know I could google that, but I'd love some impressions from people that actually have them. Thanks!
Another quick question... when using a VGA cable where does the audio connect? straight into the computer? And how do you switch between your computer display and xbox 360? I know, a bunch of n00b questions but I am intrigued! I got my cable at Game Crazy, it was $20. There's an RCA pair alongside the VGA connector to hookup to some kind of speaker system. My Dell LCD monitor has both a DVI and a VGA hookup, so I have my PC plugged in via DVI, and the 360 plugged in through the VGA. There's a button on the front of my monitor to switch between the inputs. I run the sound from the RCA (male) plugs to a female RCA -> male 3.5mm adapter into my soundcard's line-out jack. Then the sound just comes through my speakers alongside my regular PC sound. If you have any other questions, shoot me a PM.

I noticed the screen text during the demo, it was awful on my SDTV. It actually prompted me to go buy the VGA cable for the 360 and run my console through my 19" LCD monitor. Looks *so* much better at 1280x1024...now I really want a widescreen Plasma.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Stitches? Broken bones?

I've broken my arm (fell off a bunkbed), my finger (dropped a weight on it) and my ankle (crashed while innertubing on a mountain, hand 12 people land on me).
I've also been hit in the shin w/ a baseball bat (stitches required to close that up), had ankle surgery to fix the break (and stitches associated with closing that wound), and knee surgery to replace my torn ACL (and stitches associated with that).
The knee surgery was just a couple months ago, still doing the whole therapy thing.

I'd by a Christian version, but I don't think they'd move enough units...
This is fabulous news.
So would I But yeah, I don't think that would be the hottest seller.

That took a couple tries for me too. I still need Decontrol and that freaking Myth song (I forget the name...the snippet before it plays talks about HP Lovecrafts home) to get all 5 stars on medium.

Yea, the jump from medium to expert is tricky because of that last button. I have all 5 stars on medium (for all the regular songs, I've got 4 stars on 2 of the unlocked songs). Still working on 5 starring the game...maybe you get more stuff to unlock if you do...

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Importing DS games?

I saw on another post people demanding that I import some game called Ouendan for DS if I like rhythm games.
I do like rhythm games (Guitar Hero!), but am unsure how to go about importing this. Hints or suggestions anyone?

I managed to muddle through Bark at the Moon on Expert. Can't get any further than about 20% on Cowboys from Hell though. :/
Some of the independent songs are tough too...Decontrol and Ready to Rokk I believe are the toughest...

This game needs a warning: May be dangerous to pinkies. My left hand can only take about an hour of playing before starting to seize up, and I haven't even gotten to BatM on Hard yet.

I had the exact same problem in KOTOR1 (haven't played 2 yet) on Dantooine. Horrendous slowdown and warping. I have a pretty old rig (GF4 ti4200 // Athlon XP 1700), but the rest of the game ran pretty smooth except that one planet.

Up to my eyeballs in debt, and we don't even have a mortgage. :/ 2 cars (2004, 2005) that we're ridiculously overpaying for because we traded in cars that we were upside down in. Credit cards and other various loans too. *sigh*

My wife got us tickets for opening night at the Gammage, but they were balcony seats. Not bad seats, but hard to make out details on stage from there. I'd seen it before, back in California, but she hadn't. A good show allaround, however.
