He looks just like how I'd imagine Superman to look like in real life. They picked a good guy. Hopefully he'll do well onscreen.

So in otherwords we'll be seeing a lil' less of you round these parts? Great! GOD SUCKS! GOD SUCKS! LA LA LA! GOD SUCKS! GOD SUCKS! LA LA LA!    ATB? A T B? . . . .ATB? COME ON! I kinda decided to stay around here more than Brutesquad.net only because this was the first place people migrated to. Every other day or so I'll check out Brutesquad.net but I don't have any real inclination to register my name at that particular message board. Well have fun on your hiatus and don't forget about Half-Life 2, Halo 2, Grand Turismo 4, GTA: San Andreas.

I"m glad it's gone too. Being able to come to a site that is active, informative, and houses a great community is much better.
I really don't miss GG much because their was nothing to miss but the message boards. Guess what? Plenty of people from the GG message boards are here or at Brutesquad.net so I have nothing to miss.

I've found that a lot of baseball players tend to act like their still children being watched by their mommy and daddy. Seriously, these guys get paid a lot of money to play a game. Yet, they are always complaining about something. I know I'd be one thankful mofo if I got lucky enough to be paid millions for playing a game. I certainly wouldn't break any rules to try and win either.
Edit: Because "I'd" is "I would" and "I" is all I needed.

RvB is excellent. My MOTHER even enjoyed their comedy shows when I showed them to her when she came to my hous efor avisit. They seem to have a near universal appeal. I love their INternet Vs Reality sketch particularly.

I actually think she looks more attractive in the pictured linked to the official CBS Survivor site than in the PLayboy spreads. She looks just like any other blonde usually featured in magazines of that calibur. Really, these "Califonia Girl" models are a bit boring.

Bloodlines is probably not on as many people's radar as Halo 2 is. November 9th, 2004 is Halo 2's release date. I was making a lil' joke. Heheh. Though, that would be interesting to see the two most anticipated games of the year duke it out on November 9th.

Yes, Skies of Arcadia really got on my nerves with it's random encounter rate. Shadow HEarts: Covenant's encounter rate is perfect in my opinion.
AFter you got your ship in SoA I stopped after my 6th encounter going from one side of the screen to the other.
Ugh.

I've yet to meet a company that doesn't treat their customers like shit. Star Wars Galaxies? That was Star Wars Galaxies. Not Everquest or Everquest 2.

I really did try to get back into it, but I just wasn't enjoying myself in the game. I enjoyed my time with the Victory Sentinels and I won't forget the long evenings of patrolling with them.

Voted for EQ2 here. YK we should hookup when the game is released; so we can explore the world together. I'll be rolling a female avatar, you can touch her butt all you want but we're not getting married. I'm not quite gay yet.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Halo 2 has gone gold!
|
on: October 11, 2004, 07:24:37 PM

For me it is the mythos of Halo/Halo 2. There is a very deep story behind Bungie's games. All of them are connected to eachother and our world in someway. The I Love Bee's website and www.unfiction.com are just one link to what Bungie has done. Marathon, Myth(One and Two), and Halo are all connected. As a matter of fact Cortana had a message in a readme file in Myth II I believe. She has been talking to us for a long time. Perhaps Halo 2 will reveal more to us (i'm certain it will). In short, Halo has been planned way in advance even before it was first announced for the Mac and PC. I'll dredge up some links to all the theories surrounding the Marathon, Myth, HALO/2 connections. Very fun reading.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / I want the Nintendo DS to fail

I"m one of those people that bought two Gameboys and never used them. Do I feel ripped off? No. It was my choice to buy the product; a product that millions enjoy yet I do not.
I used to be the biggest NIntendo fanboy and now I am just not interested in any of their games or consoles. That might change when Nintendo releases it's next console, but I am not holding my breath.
The one thing I am looking forward to is the PS3 because it will be using an HD storage device. That will stimulate the market to switch over to Hi-Def DVD storage and allow us the consumers to get the most out of our HDTV's and finally get our money's worth.
I guess the next big question would be: Will Xbox 2 take advantage of Hi-Def storage devices or will MS stick with standard DVD?

Yellowking: I do agree that I wouldn't mind seeing a movie version of the book. It seemed like to me that it was almost written for the big screen.
MY displeasure of the book did stem from the footnotes and dialog. It is not that I can't read and enjoy that style of writing; I just was not interested in the characters themselves. I'm sure you'll understand that in a story if you don't like the characters you'll be hard-pressed to stick with it.
I'd give the book a 2 out 5 stars. Had the characters been more interesting for me then I would have most definitely finished the book and scored it a 4.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / So what monthly fee would you pay for the GoneGold Forums?

I would not pay anything for the Gone Gold forums. As much as I loved the Gone Gold forums, no forum is worth paying a monthly fee for IMHO.
It seems that Console Gold is a great place, very mature and inviting for new members. I do not understand why people are so hung up on getting Gone Gold back. It's down for now and there is nothing we can currently do about it. If Gone Gold is gone for good then say goodbye and be happy that not everything completely fell apart. The community is still alive and that is the most important thing.
I'll miss Gone Gold but I won't let the shutdown of that website stop me from enjoying our new home.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Jonathan Strange and Dr. Norrell
|

Quite honestly I found Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell to be a very boring read. About halfway through I just stopped reading it and moved on to read a different book.
What made me put the book down?
The characters for one; they all seemed to be the exact same character. Not a single one of them flexed very well in their dialog. It seemed to me that they were all molded into one particular character type and then told to go recite their lines on stage as if they were attempting to chip away a brick wall with a straw. This brings me to my second complaint; over using exclamation points.
Just about every single line of dialog ended in an exclamation point or seemed as if the characters were excited all the time. Someone could be picking at the grass and these characters would literally throw a banquet in honor the "grass picker."
My third complaint would be the formatting of the text itself. To be blunt about it, the formatting sucked. I wasn't too impressed with how the narration would be speaking for the character and then said character would take up narration and complete the author’s thoughts. At first it was charming but after 502 pages of the same format I grew tired of it. That kind of storytelling is great for beginnings and endings but and can only hold its own for so long. It would be different if the characters were actually interesting and versatile but they aren't and that definitely played a role in my becoming tired of reading the novel.
Also, footnotes were boring to read and seemed out of place. Oh and a footnote is not supposed to take up an entire page. That takes the reader out of the story and into the realm of schoolwork.
Overall the story left me dry and I had zero emotional attachment to anything involved with the tale of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. I think that is the number one factor for me to get into a story. Characters and how they interact with the other characters and the world around them. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell read too much like a history book (a poorly written one at that) and not enough like a...
Well, a story.
