Is there some way to turn off other players' voices?

After seeing this (link) I'm not sure I want to deal with someone saying "fuck" 8 times an hour.

Should be somewhere in your personal options.   I barely use my head set in PUGs to much should hear some of the females in Perfect Dark MP...damn

I'm IN!!!

I'm pretty good with both fighters.  You have to remember both fighters styles.  Jones works behind the jab and is much quicker than Hopkins, so dodge and do alot of counter punching.  Normally, I can swell up Hopkin eyes by the 2nd rd.  Heck, if I don't have Hopkins tasting the convas in the 2nd rd I feel cheated biggrin

I LOVE this game

Well, I'm mostly into Hip-Hop and R&B.

Reasonable Doubt  Jay-Z best CD ever.

The Breakthrough Its a good CD if you like Mary J. Blige.  If you looking for her better work see What's the 411 & My Life, but this is vintage Mary.

Ludacris & Field Mob "Georgia" MP3 Is on heavy rotation on my PSP and I have it as my ringer for my cell.  I don't like alot of newer Hip Hop stuff, but this song is a banger

The Trinity by Sean Paul   This isn't traditional Dance Hall, but like Dutty Rock I like this Cd.  Also,  I LOVE seeing the women dance to Temperature

And as I stated before, the Tier 2, and 3 armour, is not suited for PVP. Yes, PVP, is nothing more than a grind to kill other players, but its way different than the grind to hit a dungeon, or kill mobs in said outside temple. Whatever

I think we are just going to have to disagree.  Seriously, I don't see how you can say that the tier 1 and 2 armor sets don't give advantage in PvP.  The Tier 0 sets don't compare at all.  The weapons in MC and BWL also out classes world epics and those that drop in Dungeons.  Lets not even forget that if you don't raid then forget about EVER obtaining a lengedary or artifact gear.

There should be other ways than having to 40 man some dungeon to obtain some of the best gear in this game.  The most challenging instance I ever done was 5 manning Strath before they nerfed it.   Thats a challenging instance and very worthwhile when you completed it
4907  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Casual WoW. on: January 17, 2006, 11:50:39 AM
I think some of you are missing the point.  You really didn't hear this cry til the release of the BGs.  The tier 1 and 2 sets drastically changed the way the game is played.  Skill isn't involved much when you are using a 89 dps weapon, have 3-4k more armor, 5k more mana and all the other cool effects.  When using the regular tier 0 armor sets or loot from the regular instances you can't compete or rather its harder.

Also, with no other way to advance your toon it becomes boring.

Lastly, PvP honor system is nothing but another grind and a shitty one at that.  I know those the obtained the highest levels grinded for aq month or more of BG.  Just one constant grind of barely doing anything else.  Blizz really need to come up with another way of advancing toons without grinding
4908  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Whats the Worst Game to Movie Ever made? on: January 13, 2006, 06:06:38 PM
Bad video game movies:

Street Fighter
Mario Bros.
Alone in the Dark
Wing Commander
Mortal Kombat 2

Bad comic book movies and TV movies

Captain America (TV movie)
Spider Man (TV movies)
Hulk vs Thor (TV movie)
Batman 3, 4, and 5
Superman 3 and 4
Fantastic Four ( What a piece of SHIT. Even Jessica Alba couldn't save this garbabge)

Now I actually liked Daredevil and Elecktra.  The RE 1 and 2 are pretty decent as well
4909  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Casual WoW. on: January 13, 2006, 04:53:35 PM
While they are valid points and I take nothing away from Raiders.  My shaman has a few epic items  cause I attended a few MC raids and BWL as an alt, but once an encounter is learned in MC, BWL and ZG the difficulty is gone.  BWL and MC are on farm status for many guilds and once its on farm status it becomes boring and people find various ways to past the time between boss mobs.

The non-epic instances are this way as well, but since you don't have to gather 40 of your friends together it is diminished.  I haven't seen anyone say give casuals or those that don't want to a raid Epics.   I want to work for mines as well, but I'd rather do it like I did it from 1-59.99 in groups of 5-15.

Anyway, looks like Blizzard is listening as they are going to add a second armor set above tier 0.

You seem to be nit picking.  At least to me.  Not only have you given examples of things for casual gamers to do and get, but so did I.  Are they AS good as raiders gear.  No, but then what would be the point in raiding?

So raiding should be the only way to get good gear?   How about raiding also gives some of the best PvP  gear.  Is that right?
4912  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Casual WoW. on: January 12, 2006, 07:41:53 PM
I think most "casuals" want to avoid having to grind one set of single mobs to gain comparable items to those that raid.  Blizzard had a semi-good idea with ZG, but the collection of coins and others items is nothing but a grind in itself.

I don't want to be forced into raiding to be able to advance my character and Blizz wants to follow EQ example and I seriously think its a mistake.  The only way to progress you character after 60 is either raid ZG, MC or BWL, grind faction be it in the BGs or with some NPC.

I think most people that feel like me want a 5-10 instance that gives comparable items or even a long quest chain like Hunter and Priest quest that gives nice quest items.  Althought, for the priest quest you do need two items that come from raiding only.  Its this raid, reroll or quit mentality that most people in my shoes hate.

Ok.  So you dont like raiding over and over, and you dont like hitting the same instances over and over, and you dont like killing the same mobs over and over.  Hmmmm.....

is there something else in the game to do?  Arent all MMO's killing mobs and doing dungeons?  I mean if there is something elsewhere, that I am not aware of then let me know, I will revise.  It seems to me though, that its really all there is to do.  MOST of that faction grind stuff is still NOT being produced on WW.  Not that I am aware of anyways.

While leveling from 1-60 while it is technically grinding you aren't just killing on type of mob.  You have various quest that not only add faction, but gives you a story.  Blizzard did a wonderful job making leveling very casual and fun.  I have 2 60's  a 50 and a 46.  So I enjoy the 1-60 game, but end game faction grinding or running in a raid group isnot my idea of fun.

Honestly, you gain so little faction  for killing mobs its pathetic .  While I understand the motivation is to keep you paying and playing I hope that they could come up with different ways to get faction and obtain end game items.
4914  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Casual WoW. on: January 12, 2006, 04:14:09 PM
I have disagree that the hard-core make up most of the WoW population.  I think most that raid only do it cause of better gear.  If comparable gear dropped in a 5-10 man instance I think you would certainly see a shift.

Grinding faction isn't fun and Blizz reliance on making faction grinding for Epic items  and recipes is a real turn-off.  I don't  raid as I find it mind-numbing boring, but I understand other find it enjoyable.  I like to 5-10 a instance, but since the better gear only drops in ZG, MC and BWL getting a group together to do these instances are very hard to find.  Let not forget that almost everyone has run Strath, Scholo, UBRS, LBRS, DM and BRD  so much that many get sick of just trying these places again

Very few of the orginial XBOX games supported the HD format.   Someone had a list of all the games that supported HD.

So, unlike the 360 where MS has basically mandated that all games be HD I don't think it was a requirment for the original

4917  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Dogs - What Breed? on: January 11, 2006, 03:45:04 AM
Quote from: "DrJones"
If you need any specific advise about a particular dog breed,  I am more then willing to help.  I am a veterinarian.

First off- German Sheps are one of the worst breeds for shedding.  If you like vacuuming hair every hour then get a Shepherd.

Border Collies-  extremely active dogs.  Need a lot exercise.  Very good at agility/frisbee type activities.  Now every dog is different but Border Collies tend to be a little nippy sometimes.  They also shed quite a bit as well.

Aus Sheps-  similair to Border Collies in active/temperment.  Also tend to be a little nippy/aggressive sometimes.

Italian Greyhounds-nice little dogs.  Shed less.  Very fragile frames/legs.  These dogs tend to be docile usually.  More of a house dog.

German Pincher- fairly rare breed.  I havent seen this particular breed in a long time.  These dogs generally dont make good family pets, especially if you have small children.  They tend to bite/be aggressive.

Now I dont know if you have children or what your work schedule is like, but certain brreds need more of your time/attention.

If you are looking for a nice, small dog that usually fits in well with a family and is not generally aggressive, then Pugs and Boston Terriers are very nice dogs.  They are a little on the crazy side but usually very friendly with adults and children.

Hope this helps,

I have been trying to decide between getting a Jack Russell or a Pug.  Which is more friendly and not as high maintenance?

At least Maurice Clarett was cut after being drafted -- did anyone end up keeping him?

(Still annoyed that Eli Manning made the NFL after the whiney punk said "I don't wanna go to San Diego")

Well, Eli Manning pulled a John Elway.  Elway was originally drafted by the Baltimore Colts and cried about it til he got traded to the Broncos and the rest is history

Nope, Clarett is not on any team. Last I heard he is going to try for NFL Europe

The guys has incradible talent like his brother, but will probably end up another Maurice Clarett.  Some team will take a chance on him in the draft but he is most likely going late 2nd for sure now
