I consider myself pretty mild-mannered when it comes to losing at video games.  I've come to accept that even though it's something I do, I'm not entirely the best at it.  So losing at games, meh, I've come to terms with it and it's okay.

But I swear, you take a mild-mannered, incredibly calm player and put him in front of the screen on the easiest difficulty of Street Fighter 2 and tell him/her to beat the game for you; and they'll lose it.

Because I'm that person.

And I think I'm pretty decent at the Street Fighter series.

And I don't know if it's the controller or what...

But wow.

And I know the 1337 Street Fighter plays will come in here and be like, "Yeah man, Ken's uppercut has a .24ms time, allowing you to glitch through the first frame of Ryu's fireball manuever, giving you an extra millisecond of time to pull off a jab-uppercut combo", but I'd expect really insane CPU difficulty on pretty much every other difficulty level other than the lowest.

So, calm gamers.  I challenge you.  Go through the arcade mode in Street Fighter on the XBLA.  I fucking double-dog-dare you.

The 360 controller is not good for SF or MK.  Most of the serious fans out there suggest getting the fighting stick

I am curious, what generation is the Xbox360 on right now?

2nd Gen now I believe.  i think a 3rd Gen is being released in 2007.  Supposedly runs cooler and has much quieter cooling fan.  I forgot where I read this so please take this with a grain of salt

Born 10-15-2005
Received: 11-22-2005
Died: 12-3-2006

My 360 died today.  No warning.  No Fanfare.  After not touching it all weekend I decide to watch a movie that I have from netflix and ten seconds into the opening credits the screens freezes.  I eject the movie and turn off the 360.  When I turn it back on I have the DREADED THREE RED LIGHTS.  So I follow all the tips to isolate the problem.  Seems my power supply light is red.  I unplug it and let it set. Replug it into a different outlet and the 360 still shows the DREADED THREE RED LIGHTS.

I contact MS tech and the young Indian lady takes me thru the same steps that I followed  earlier to trouble shoot the problem.  She advices me to take the 360 to my retailer to see if they will honor the MS warranty since my 360 is a first generation machine.  After I explain to her that I won my 360 in a pepsi contest and that my only recourse is to have MS replace my 360.  She agrees and tells me that my coffin will be here in 3-4 days and the repairs will be on MS dime.  She also advices me to only send the console.  Not the power supply or the hard drive.  I was planning to keep my hard dive anyway, but why keep the power supply since that might be the problem. Can anyone advice on this?

So I will be without my 360 for probably a month or so...looks like I will need to step up my gaming on the PSP

Both machines are capable of a lot more performance than most games are able to squeeze out of them right now.  The whole multi-processor thing is really quite a tricky proposition.  As time goes on, people on both sides of the 360/PS3 fence will fine tune their software to make sweet hot monkey love to the hardware, and both platforms will have their own games with comparatively unbelievable visual experiences.

And we all know what that means - Lots more "fun" threads like the Resistance vs. Gears of War thread to look forward to!  All right!

The highlighted portion made me lol for real.  So much so my co worker just looked over my cube wall to make sure I was ok

That is all

I'll give this a try.  I'm d/l supernatural as we speak

Let us know how the show runs. I'm leery, due to price and the possibility that the video might get choppy in parts, like some of the game trailers I've downloaded. I can handle the occasional stutter, but every few seconds would drive me insane.

Servers are being hammered at the moment so my d/l is still going.   Will give impressions once it's done

Edit- I just wanted to add that it is just released so picking will be thin I think, but look like they will be adding stuff.  Give it time,  Btw, this is just like On-Demand offered by Cable and Satellite services.

Meh, he was at a comedy club.  He went dirty and took it too far.  I seriously think that words like this only have power if you grant it such.  I don't put a lot of stock into it...

+1, if Chris Rock did this, would anyone care?

You sir have a point.  (did I just say that??  eek)

I just don't see any way a white man can call a black person a nigger and have it not be a huge problem.  Soulchilde maybe could back me up on this.  Chris Rock might be able to get away with it but there are cultural complexities at work that go way beyond "Why can't I say it if he can?"

I don't think there's any equivalent word that someone could call a white person that has the same impact, the same history, the same insult behind it.

Warning has it about right. I really don't want to delve into to this or start a big PC debate, but one of the worse thing a white person can say to a black person is call him a nigger.  Even 30-40 years since the Civil Rights movement the word just has to much negative weight to it.

All that being said if the hecklers started it with racial slurs than they should have been man enough to deal with the reprecussions.  Don't dish it if you can't take it.

Actually, if Chris Rock started throwing off anti-semetic slurs in a fit of rage I think people would still be upset.

Bottom fell out already?  I think the 360 marlet from last year helped fuel what you are seeing with the PS3.  With the 360 out for a full year the PS# has actual competition.  I think someone at MS just got a raise if the PS3 looks like a failure after this launch

I have Madden 07 for the Wii and PS3. Both are VERY different. I don't have it for the 360 anymore. Also, I liked Stealth.  Anyway I'm taking the pics down now...cause this topic is veering way of course.

If they had gone with a cartridge based system we wouldn't be getting 1.8gb discs (the DS is stuck at 150mb) and the graphics, levels, and voice would have taken a major hit.
You really think a massive game like GTA would have fit on a little cartridge?
Personally I'm happy that they embraced the future by going with a disc-based format.

I like how people out there are saying the PSP already failed and yet it's still alive and kicking. Now if they said the n-gage or that other thing from the swedish mafia failed, then I'd have to say they're right, but the PSP is still alive and well with plenty of great games out and still coming!  icon_biggrin
