So uh... someone pointed out that I scheduled draft on Labor Day weekend.  I just happened to pick the weekend right after preseason (I hate when people get f'ed over by drafting someone who gets injured).  We *could* move it 1 week later, but that leaves us zero days to get things set before the first game of the season.  So... do we want to attempt to do it midweek?  Is there any time in between that makes sense for the majority?

Otherwise I'll just leave it where it is and let the chips fizall.

That was me.  smile i was actually going to make it to live draft when I realized that was Labor Day weekend.  I should be out of town and away from PC access.  My Draft is set...all 32 QBs  in my first 32 slots.  I shall make Hiro's draft look like a genius smile

How are the Psionics in this game, anyway? Unfortunately my D&D experience is pretty much limited to the 'core' classes (so basically no knowledge into the two psychic classes). Do they have a fireball come level 5? Cause you know, that's the most important spell.  icon_biggrin

I actually restarted the game as I was getting my ass handed to me again (good thing really) on the Elf Mission.   I rerolled my team and put a better focus into my party.

I'm using

Dwarven Monk
Half Orc Barbarian  ( My Panzer Tank)
Human Cleric
Halfling Rogue
Elven Ranger
Elven Psionic

So far I am rolling in the Easting Mission and I like this group better

Why are you getting money in Bioshock. It is the only thing that seems out of place in the demo. Are you able to purchase upgrades or weapons in the full  game, and if so, what? I taught everything will be scattered through out the world.

You can use it to buy off machines you can hack.  Instead playing the hacking mini-game you can just use cash to get a instant hack.  I'm sure there are other uses in the game as well

From the Eurogamer review, which is pretty well written:

"So, yes, the atmosphere and artwork is undeniably the thing that effortlessly grabs hold of the player, but BioShock is so much than an immersive tech demo poster child thanks to the amount of credibility that's been infused into every part of the game world: be it the combat, the exploration, the narrative, or the puzzling. It's a game that breaks down so well however you want to deconstruct it. And unlike so many shooters, this isn't a game that wilfully funnels you through narrow environments. The overarching nature of the game is still admittedly linear, but it's the kind of linearity that allows the player to poke around to your heart's content, and flit back and forth as and when you fancy sniffing out a few more secrets from a previously neglected area (and believe me, there'll be plenty). It's a game that will entice you to look at its map to explore, scavenge and go off the beaten track. And it's not just about the treasure hunt, either. With its subtle audio narrative forming as you go along, there's an even greater incentive to take you time - not only to discover yet more hidden audio diaries from the lost inhabitants, but because you're almost always rewarded for your explorational persistence."

Now granted, the reviewer sounds like he wants to have Bioshock's babies, but it's still a very compelling take on the game.

for anyone who wants to read LD's post but prefer the black background.

Thanks I had to high-light it to read it initially....silly LD

Welp, I was up to mindmight last night playing and I am enjoying myself.  I wish the interface was easier to navigate, but other than that I think that game is great.   The only other issue I have is the difficulty.  I took my lvl 2 party consisting of Psionic Warrior, Paladin, Cleric, Rogue, Bard and Wizard to the King's tomb and the recommended dungeon for a lvl 2 party kicked my ass in the end.  The Zombies and Skeletons all seemed to have maxed HP.

Okay...see, I'm about to run that quest, and the first thing I thought was 'I need to bring +1 (aka Magic) weapons with me.'  I expected possible incorporeal creatures. smile   Now I'm looking forward to putting some of my gold to use and hiring another cleric to go with me. smile  Turn Undead FTW!

Yeah, carefully with the quest. After I wiped I decided to run the Elf quest instead.  Probably will start over after I get a better feel fo rthe game, but I am liking it.

Thank you....after reading that list....I feel much better about the title.  I just wish I knew how old it was.  (His current 8/8 impressions of the game don't address any of my concerns, though the FAQ mention of a DM mode makes me happy.  )

Even if I have to use preset maps, DM vs the players would be cool for Multiplay.

Just rolled up a few different characters and I didn't see a option to multi-class or dual class.  I'll see what's up once I level. As for impression I rolled up a half elf psion warrior and jumped into the game.  You can roll up as many charaters as you want, but quest seems to have a character limit.  The first quest I just completed had me taking out some goblin brigands.  I grabbed a cleric and went hunting.  Travel is handled like Tales of the World.  You basically warp from town to different areas.  AI seems decent.  My PC must have failed their spot checks as the goblins used stealth to sneak up on my Cleric.  Combat seems okay amd not overly cpmplex if you know D&D. The manual which I haven't really read seem sparse.  Basically no information on classes and abilities, but everything is explained in game, but a nice manual would have been nice. We took out the three goblins and headed back to town.  XP seems kind of high as they awarded for killing the goblins, not losing a PC and obtaining a chest.  I got XP for each.

Anyway, that's early impressions...more later

The two Toys 'R Uses near our office both broke the street date.  Me and a few other guys called and went running over.  The one we went to had five copies.  A guy in front of us bought one and we bought the other four.  It was pretty funny - the clerk showed us the cheap padded envelope he had received them in.  At the other store another one of our guys got the last copy.  Woo!  Bioshock!

Talked to Gamestop, local and corporate.  Both are 'gathering more information' to see if they will break the date.  As it stands, their talking point is "TRU only got a few copies so it won't affect our sales in any way.  We are holding to our street date for now."  The 'gathering' and 'for now' suggests we might see differently very soon, but when I called TRU (a few here in AZ) they were RUUUUUUDE rude rude rude about telling me that "No - nobody is selling them.  Whatever you heard, you were mistaken."  I explained the pictures and gamertags and they told me that I'm just "completely wrong".  Wow...bad day?

Thanks, Ron.   I'm thinking the Gamestop , Walmart and Target will be sticking with the street date

My jaw dropped after the movie screen went down on the bathesphere and the entire city of Rapture was displayed before you.  Awesome, awesome intro.

Although I shut it off right after I docked.  Already scared the piss out of me.

Is it really a scary game?  One of the attributes that would keep me from playing would be scares and creepy events.  There was a time when I was a horror movie fan, but I've more or less grown out of enjoying being scared, whether it be by games or by movies, and I'm not at all interested in a game that will scare me or creep me out in my own house.  I was only able to play a small portion of Fatal Frame on the PS2 before I couldn't take any more, and I managed to play just a few minutes of the Condemned demo before I had to turn it off because it creeped the hell out of me.

If Bioshock is anything like that, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass on this one.

The game has it's scary moment ala System Shock.

Spoiler for Hiden:
The best moment in the demo for me was when you come off the elevator and you see the silhouette of the female splicer talking to the baby carriage and then seeing her baby is a .45 magnum  eek

Hi all, I am a new to the whole Xbox live scene and I have some questions for anyone who's got a moment.  I started playing with an offline profile (Kevin) which was obviously taken when I tried to sign up to live.  So I used my forum account to browse the Marketplace and stuff.  I only have a silver membership, not really intersted in multi-player at the moment.

Any way, I had been signed into the XBL account when I started a game and I noticed that it said "update available" and I downloaded it.  My question is: do these updates carry over for all user accounts on that Xbox?  Or, are they only applied to the XBL user account?

Also, can you transfer save game data between profiles?

Thanks much!!

the automatic updates are applied across account  I believe.

Not certain you can transfer saves between account as it would be a work around when it comes to achievements.
