Armor - I haven't spent any points in armor skill yet.   I'm focusing on magic and weapon skills from the outset.  Also, using decoctoin.   Just crafted the Griffin Armor set and will craft the weapons when i log on

Depending on the quality of the weapon.  Relics I dismantle for the mats.  All other gets sold

btw, here are some Gwent tips as I've been playing a ton of this game.  It's so simple I'm surprised CDPR hasn't sold it as a phone app.

 1.  This game is a lot like chess.  You really should plan out strategy in advance.  You can intentionally lose the first match if you can make your opponent burn through his cards.  this is my favorite tactic.  Used this to beat Haddy the best player in Velen.

2.  Don't husband your Hero cards.  There only power lies in that weather effects cards don't effect them, but boost cards don't effect them either.   So use them

3.  Find a leader ability that works for you.  I love Foltest ability to boost Siege Engines, so my deck is currently stacked with Siege Engines to take advantage
3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/XB1/ps4] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on: Today at 11:06:49 AM
Just my opinion for anyone starting the game, Do the "Find the Witch" first when you arrive to Velen.   You obtain a few items  that open up my quest in the area.   I went straight to the Baron instead and saved the Witch till later

Question about the Witch quest

Spoiler for Hiden:
So in my Witcher 2 game I killed of Sile De Tansarville, so I wondered if I left her alive would it have been her hiding out in this quest instead Keira?

4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/XB1/ps4] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on: May 25, 2015, 07:27:06 PM
So this game has it's hooks into me pretty badly.  I've been concentrating on secondary quest primarily and the level of detail that CDPR has put into this game has raised the bar for any new open world games that come to market. Even a simple fetch quest becomes very deep and don't end like you expect.

Right now this is my game of the year.  It's been awhile since a game gave me the one more quest feeling

I don't know Tilt, but I think the suspend was my issue.   I left the game suspended and but the xbox to sleep, but when I resumed the game loaded normally but I was unable to save once I got into the game.   I haven't run back into the bug since I no longer leave the game suspened

Well, this is probably an incredibly subjective question, but has anyone seen a comparison of this game vs. Dragon Age: Inquisition as it relates to 'time to complete' ?

Main Story I thought I read 40 hrs....   Anyway, with optional content and side quest I can see 100+.  I just got to Velen and the map is HUGE!!!  Puts some of those maps in DA:I to shame

Still getting used to some of the spell changes Yrden , my favorite spell, seems to been nerfed as I can't tell what's it's doing when I use it.

Yrden creates a magical circle where you're standing. Any enemies stepping into that circle are slowed, which gives you a mobility advantage. You can also use Yrden to drag wraiths into the material world, which strips them of their regular defenses.

Ahh, didn't notice the slow down... I was used to the stunning effect of The Witcher 2
10  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/XB1/ps4] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on: May 20, 2015, 11:12:02 AM
Few quirks and maybe a bug on the XB1.  I suspended the game and turned off my XB1 for the evening.  Booted up the XB1 and game resumed where I left off, BUT my framerate took a serious hit and for an unknown reason I couldn't save.  I was standing in the middle of a field and I saw no reason why I couldn't save.    Anyway, I hard quit the game and went to work.

Anyway, loving this game on normal.  Still getting used to some of the spell changes Yrden , my favorite spell, seems to been nerfed as I can't tell what's it's doing when I use it.  Axii spells used in conversation seems so odd.  Wished they would have kept the more subtle usage from The Witcher 2

Awesome... don't have time to troubleshoot this right now but it crashes during the new game opening cinematic. They show the dude, he raises his arms and roars and then I'm back at the desktop. Hopefully there's a log somewhere, otherwise I'll just randomly start turning things down / off from the defaults it picked for me. disgust

ps. Did this both before and after I updated to the latest "just in time for Witcher 3" Nvidia drivers.

Monkeyfingers are you letting the Geforce Experience optimize the game for your card?   This might help as you might be running the game too high for your system.  Just a suggestion
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/XB1/ps4] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on: May 19, 2015, 02:08:04 PM
initial impression on the XB1.  Game looks freaking gorgeous  even at 900p 30fps.   There are some slows downs during cut scenes but not enough to bother me. The facial expression and the skin work in this game is freaking amazing

Also, I like the Gwent card game and I can see myself spending sometime playing it

I did a quest for the Dwarf Blacksmith in town slight spoiler

TiLT got to you?  Fight the TiLT, be on the level!

No, the sub-par games and games the didn't connect with me in 2014 did this .  Also, publisher demand for DLC bonus for pre-ordering is just turning me off, so I am voting with my money.  I am going pre-order free starting this year.

So Tilt is just preaching to the choir as far I am concerned.  BTW, I just brought this shirt in affrimation of my new direction when it comes to buying games

Should you install Day One patch XB1

Quote from: Digital Foundry
After a weekend of testing The Witcher 3 on Xbox One, it's fair to say installing its day one patch (version 1.01) is something of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the 588MB file improves frame-rates slightly during play, while fixing minor bugs scattered across the game. In many ways it's a more polished experience with the patch - notably we have less geometry pop-in during cut-scenes, fewer instances of flickering shadows, and a great many more tweaks elsewhere.

But the downsides pack a punch too. It's apparent after switching between the game's default and patched states that these improvements come at a cost. Chief among these is the aggressive stuttering during pre-rendered cut-scenes. Essentially, encoded video files are used to portray the game's bigger plot points - such as the opening scene, re-caps after loading a save, and the dramatic end to the tutorial - while the game's engine is used for smaller beats in the story

Btw, DF found that with the day one patch only menu's run at 1080p for the XB1

LOL nice marketing spin

Well CDPR knew what they had I guess, it is nice to see a game reviewed a week before release.  Steam version already bought via gift cards (work gave me $50 in Best Buy cards for my usual exemplary work 😎) so we shall see how a i5 with GTX680 performs.

How did you use a Best Buy Gift card for a Steam Key... just wondering

So undecided

XB1 gameplay vid.   CDPR saying that with dynamic scaling the XB1 can reach 1080p in some areas and they are still refining the code and pump as much horsepower into the visual as possible.  Anyway, looks good to me.   Will be interesting to see this when Digital Foundry gets their hands on this

Bethesda is holding a presser at E3 and tons of leaks have been popping up lately, but the one that grabbed my attention is this on Destructoid.

Supposedly a studio set up my Del Toro has been working on a trailer for E3 and the studio has asked Destructoid to take down the story as some of it is untrue and breaks an NDA

So is this a unofficial confirmation?

Just hit 40 in Neverwinter on the XB1.  I'm having so much fun in this game  especially since the PC version didn't hold me long

Just curious, what's better/different on XB1?

Honestly, Rittch, I don't know.  I think it's just the ease of playing my on TV.  I know I can hook my PC up to my TV but that means dragging from my PC room to my living room.

Also, the Hunter Ranger class is so much fun

33  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Oculus Rift Consumer Version releasing in Q1 2016 on: May 06, 2015, 03:09:07 PM
Price point is a huge factor for me.  Anything above 300 US and you can count me out.   Also, I might decide to wait for the 2nd gen version
34  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Digital vs. Physical Comics on: May 05, 2015, 04:48:04 PM
I used  ComiXology once for a free comic I received the Batman Court Owls..   I was a okay experience on my 1st gen Kindle Fire, but not the best.  My concern is keeping the comic books clutter to a minimum.   I don't really have a good tablet and I see no reason for investing in one cause I have a laptop and a 5in phone for the casual browsing

Maybe, I'll just try the books for awhile and see how it goes.

35  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Digital vs. Physical Comics on: May 05, 2015, 01:50:55 PM
So I've decided to get back into comics since Marvel is now combining universes after the Secret Wars, but I need to make a decision either go digital or physical.   While I love reading books digitally, I'm not sure I would enjoy the experience of reading comics in a digital format.

So I wonder if anyone still collects here and which medium do you prefer?
