The switchover will make older TV's obsolete without the converter. Even then I have heard that without the proper antanae (sp) some TV's may still not work.

It is so the government can sell more frequencies.

It is digital, not HD. Nothing requires individual stations to increase their power, only to broadcast in digital. There will still be over -the-air stations, in fact I know locally there will be more over-the-air stations.

I thought the Baldwin part was more interesting. He said all those things about Palin supposedely thinking she was Tina Fey. Everything Baldwin said is how he really feels, he is to the left of Lenin. Must have made for an uncomfortable moment.

and your going to remove this money (loan) and do what with it. Remember it still has to be repaid at some point.....

just slide it into a money market that makes 1.5% but won't loose value for awhile until things come back.....

It's borrowing money that got this place screwed up to begin with...

Although if you were borrowing to buy a house and could get a loan now is probably a great time to buy....

Legal case against God dismissed:

A US judge has thrown out a case against God, ruling that because the defendant has no address, legal papers cannot be served.

The suit was launched by Nebraska state senator Ernie Chambers, who said he might appeal against the ruling.

He sought a permanent injunction to prevent the "death, destruction and terrorisation" caused by God.

Judge Marlon Polk said in his ruling that a plaintiff must have access to the defendant for a case to proceed.

So...why is this idiot still in office?

Is he going to appeal it to a "higher" authority?

My American roommate claims that Americans don't use the term "pissed" when describing people who are drunk.  He says they only use it for when people are angry.  I say he's full of it.  If you're American, what do you say?

Your American roommate is 100% correct.

Whenever speaking to beautifull women you don't know just imagine them naked and then...oh, no, that won't work. Sorry, wrong advice......

If Animal House the movie was remade John Mayer would be the guy on the stairs who gets his guitar thrashed by John Belushi.

Flags of Our Fathers by James Bradley

A great book about the men who raised the second flag on Iwo Jima. This book ranks with Band of Brothers and Goodbye Darkness as excellent WW2 books with real stories about real soldiers.

Baltimore fans...

What happened to Rice? He went from good prospect starting first game (granted due to injury) to a guy who carried the ball 1 time last week.

I prefer #3. Maybe I was in a confused state the first time I saw #2 but the plot had a few too many tricky movements for me.
1695  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Kidney Stones, holy crap... on: September 25, 2008, 11:59:00 PM
I haven't had kidney stones but I have had gall stones leading to having my gall bladder removed. I have been told passing a kidney stone is worse, and if that is true then I feel your pain.

Unfortunately you can't have your kidney removed, but things should return to normal soon enough. I don't know if it's too late to help but you might look into adjusting your diet to reduce the chance of a recurrence.

Pro golfers have done it for years, but until seeing the picture above I have never seen anyone with a button-up shirt do it.

I had a friend whose brother-in-law chose to blow his brains out in his family room. Needless to say his sister left the house and my friend ended up having to clean up the house, he ended up living there for awhile. I used to go there and party with him, and it always seemed weird knowing what happened there.

I don't envy your having to return to the office 5 days a week knowing what happened there. Hopefully time will help.
