Mexico played their hearts out yesterday, but just couldn't keep it together for the final 10 minutes against the Netherlands.  The Dutch team was patient.  They let the Mexican players wear themselves out and then capitilized on their late game mistakes.  I don't know how they do that.  I guess it's just experience.

The Costa Rica and Greece game was a nail biter too.

Some of the European and South American players are so talented, it's like they were born with a soccer ball at their feet.  I don't know how the US team stands a chance other than to maybe outwork the other teams just through sheer determination.  Some of the things I saw European and South American teams do just moving the ball around were amazing.  Backwards heel flick passes, lots of slick 1 touch passing.

That said, I hate all of the flopping, fake injuries, and pretend head bumps.  It's insane.  They look like idiots.

The US's passing and ball possession leaves a lot to be desired. This is where Bradley was supposed to help, but he isn't playing up to the level that he has proven that he can. Maybe the MLS move was bad for him?

Do you need to play the earlier ones to enjoy the new one?

Last Light is a direct sequel to 2033. So I would recommend playing both. 2033 is a really good shooter, Last Light is 2033 with improvements to the gameplay, set pieces and pacing. Both are outstanding though.

You could technically plat Last Light without playing 2033, but you would miss a lot of the story.

I don't usually pay full price for shooters, but having played it, I'd make an exception for this one. In terms of sheer entertainment value, it's worth full price. If you can get it cheaper, then I'd say it's a no-brainer.

Also note - Amazon has the PC digital download version for $29.99.

Agreed. It's the best single player FPS to come out since Metro Last Light. And if you haven't played Last Light yet, then do so when it comes out for the PS4.

Explain.

What more is there to explain? The PS3 version uses the dual shock 3 with two sticks. The PSP version has 1 stick. Thus it's easier to control the PS3 version. Not to mention it looks better.

Should I bother with Ground Zeros?

Unfortunately if you are going to play Phatom Pain then you need to play Ground Zeros. Ground Zeros is essentially the prologue to Phantom Pain.

Another group is planning a lawsuit against the Chief Wahoo logo for the Cleveland Indians.  Unlike Snyder though, Cleveland was already in the process of phasing out the logo in favor of a red block letter C.   I think they realize it was coming and they most likely won't be making as big a stink about it.  Fans, maybe a bit though.  But that's to be expected.

I live in the Cleveland area and not a single person I've spoken too think this is a good idea. Crazy.

I live near Cleveland too and the only reaction I've heard to the phasing out is that the Block C logo is really lame, it could be used for any number of teams including the Reds and the Cubs who already use a similar logo. It's just generic. But honestly Wahoo is a portrait of a racial stereotype. It's not any different than using a black face cartoon character as your logo.

In my opinion they should come up with a new logo that identifies as being Indian but isn't offensive. Heck they could take the feather from Wahoo's bandanna and focus on that and it would be better than a lame Block C.

I picked this up on the PS4 on sale and after "finishing" the main mission I feel ripped off. This game exists for nothing more than to buy some more time to finish the Phantom Pain. I know I can go back in and play the side missions, but I really have no desire to. The single map in the game is tiny, the enemy AI is brain dead and why the hell can't snake lean left or right from behind cover? Reading the prologue material and watching the end movie was much more enjoyable than the actual gameplay. I have no idea how this game scored so well with reviewers. This is coming from someone who has played every single Metal Gear Solid game and loved them (Except for that action one with Raiden as the lead, please god no more Raiden). I might pay $5 for it, but even that is a stretch, I suppose I should be happy I only spent $18 instead of the normal $29.

It really ruined my desire to play the Phantom Pain when it comes out.

With both sides only needing a draw to advance, the US/Germany might be the most boring game in the history of World Cup football.  They're both going to play extremely conservative, not wanting to take any chances and give up a stupid goal.  That's what I'm hoping for, anyways.

I'm thinking Germany will play really conservative, all they really need is a tie and even if they somehow lose to the US they are +4 on goal differential so the only team that has a chance of squeaking by them is Ghana at -1 and no way is Ghana going to outscore Portugal by that many.

As to Concacaf teams performing well, I don't really see this being a big break-through world cup for the conference. I'm still of the mind that Croatia will find a way to advance at the expense of Mexico in Group A, and Honduras is out unless you believe in divine/miraculous math. IMO Costa Rica and USA are the only Concacaf teams that will advance to the round of 16. As to teams of the Americas doing well (thinking Columbia and Chile here in additional to the usual Argentina, Brazil) in general, I think that's par for the course for world cup held in the Americas. All World Cups hosted in the Americas, have always been won by a team of the Americas:

Uruguay 1934 - Uruguay
Brazil 1950 - Uruguay
Chile 1962 - Brazil
Mexico 1970 - Brazil
Argentina 1978 - Argentina
Mexico 1986 - Argentina
United States 1994 - Brazil

Now if you were to be talking Women's World Cup - hell yes, both USA and Canada are cup contenders from Concacaf.  slywink thumbsup

Mexico will advance. Concacaf has been tough in this cup and Mexico is playing with a new found confidence.

Getting past all the arguments, here is what I see as the likely outcome of this case. The Redskins appeal the decision, which is a lengthy process (Their last appeal on this issue took 17 years). While the appeal is open they retain their trade mark protection. BUT the NFL steps in (Much like the NBA) and kindly tells Dan Snyder that they need to change the name and logo. The combination of pressure from the NFL, activist groups and the amount of money the Redskins will have to spend just to appeal this case could be enough to make then "voluntarily" change the name.

ON the other hand Snyder could take the the Donald Sterling approach and say F-you all and fully litigate it. In which case who knows what the outcome will be.

The biggest problem I have with it is that we have a branch of the government deciding what is and isn't "offensive" based on speech. If you guys so clearly want to believe in the free market then why can't the USPTO sit back and watch the trademark wither away because the American people don't buy the products it's associated with?

Why is it is so difficult to understand that this is out and out racism.  Redskin is NOT a tribal name, nor is it a person's name.  It's a racist slur.  Indians have been trying to get it banned for ages.  This isn't a new endeavor created by a "PC crowd".  If there was a team called the New York Kikes or the San Diego Tar Babies, would that be okay?

And the American people have repeatedly proven that they aren't ALWAYS going to do the right thing.  As a matter of fact, if the government DIDN'T step in from time to time, we'd still have lynchings, whites only water fountains and segregation in many areas.

1. I never denied that it's offensive or racist.

2. Lynchings, whites only water fountains, and segregation are a far cry from a corporate logo and team name. In fact they're not even in the same ball park. We're not talking about basic human rights here, what we're talking about is hurting people's feelings. It's a slippery slope when the government starts making decisions based off of hurt feelings.
I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but the fact that Zeke agrees with you could be a hint that you might be wrong on this one. smile

I'm not so sure that Zeke does agree with me. His opinion from what I can tell is "Damn liberals are trying to force change on us again". My opinion is more rooted in the fact that I don't think the Government should decide what "hurts people feelings". The free market should do that in this case because it is a company selling a product. In this case the product name just happens to be offensive.

I know there are limits to the "Free Market" principle. We can't let companies do whatever they want all the time. In this case though we seem to be saying "it's ok for the government to deny trademark protection because the trademark hurts people's feelings". Which to me is a huge difference from a company that is actively denying people's rights or actively hurting the community. "Feelings" can be tricky.

Dragon Age is this year, and that game doesn't look appealing at all. I'm not alone in feeling that way either, as there has been almost no talk about that game in games media since E3 started. The trailer alone showed how different it still is from the glorious first game in the series, with comic-book superheroes somersaulting, dive-stabbing and doing all kinds of "press X to AWESOME!" things that make it look like they've learned nothing at all since DA2. Also, it's EA.

So yeah, what I'm trying to say is that I'm excited about Bloodborne and The Witcher 3. Probably more for the latter than the former, but I'll take both. smile

The gameplay on DA3 looks like it's styled after ME3, which is ok with me. But hey I liked DA 1 and DA 2 (even though they are very different), so I may not be the best person to ask when it comes to the DA series.

I picked up the Vita 2.0 to replace my broken 1.0. I love the feel of the 2.0 in my hands, it is noticeably thinner and lighter. The change in screen isn't that noticeable either. If you go straight from the 1.0 to the 2.0 you can see a difference, but the 2.0 is still a really good screen and newcomers to the Vita shouldn't be bothered by the screen at all. I did have to adjust the brightness scale upwards in the system settings though, once I did that it was close to the look of the 1.0. The one thing that feels much better to me are the analog sticks, not sure what's different about them, but they seem to stick to my thumb better than the 1.0 version does. The added battery life is nice too.

All in all the 2.0 is a good system if you don't already have the 1.0 or need to replace yours.

I agree if I'm grading both of these shows I would give them both a B. Microsoft did what they needed to do, which was show games. Sony came out and showed more exclusives that I'm interested in, but they stumbled with the whole movie and TV parts. Pretty even IMO. Also, I was hoping for a killer Vita game and they didn't show one at all.

Here's hoping that Nintendo knocks it out of the park today. I'm really hoping for a $100 drop in price for WiiU starting this month. That would get me to finally pick one up.

After watching both shows I think the only reason people are saying Xbox has more coming this year is because it was the theme of their show. If you actually stack up the exclusives it's pretty even, if you include indies then Sony pulls ahead. So marketing does help.
