Rise sold over 1 million, that's nothing to scoff at IMO. PC sales are gonna be good too, I guarantee.

Anyways, The Witness! Excited to pick this thing apart.

Once it finally hits the PS4 the sales will more than justify another sequel.

I watched the show and it does have potential but the ability to time travel at will makes the plot hole analyst in me shine.

Spoiler for Hiden:
For instance the whole plot in the first episode was about finding Vandal Savage so they could kill him. Well the Professor/Son guy gives them pictures of Savage with very identifiable locations and dates. I.E. hop in the damn time machine, go to that place and kill him. Show over.

The same goes for the future. They know exactly where he will be and when. So just go there and kill him. Once again show over

Also, the biggest problem this show may have in the long run is having way too many characters. There are too many people to focus on.

Much as I loved the first one, still perfectly happy to wait...

Same here. Besides I have a back log right now thanks to Christmas and the PSN sale.

Back in the day 1 was a break through in gaming. Part 2 was easily the worst of the early bunch (It really earned the name MovieGearSolid) and part 3 was the best of the pre PS3 games. You should really try 4 on the PS3, it was excellent upon release and I imagine that it still holds up today.

48  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS4/XB1/PC] Assassin's Creed Unity on: December 16, 2015, 02:18:19 PM
Well I went back and started replaying Unity because it's one of the only PS4 games I have that I haven't finished. Surprisingly after all of the patching and some time away from the game I am actually enjoying it this time. Currently I'm on sequence 10 of 12 so I know I will finish it this time and maybe even finish up some of the side content. If you can find the game for $10 bucks and you like Assassin's Creed games then I would say it's finally time to pick this one up. It's still no where near as enjoyable as ACIV was, but it's also not the complete mess that it was around launch. The removal of all the app requirements was a big bonus and the game's frame rate is solid now. I also haven't run into any game breaking bugs.

If you skip the side quests and don't succumb to the Ubisoft school of collection and just play the main story missions then this game is actually pretty decent.

No spoiler, but I will say Darth Vader's connection to Luke is rather surprising.

My kids ages 6, 9 and 17 had zero interest in Star Wars. I tried to get them to watch the movies repeatedly over the years but they would always pick something else. But the hype with the new movie got to them and they finally got around to watching Episodes IV and V. At this point my daughter is convinced that Leah should pick Luke over Han Solo. I can't wait to see the look on her face when she watches Jedi. So believe it or not there are kids out there who still don't know all of the spoilers.

They said that going episodic was really the only way to get the job done properly, so it was this or nothing. They're going way beyond I think what most people were expecting from a remake; changing the combat and altering the gameplay in general, adding new content, using a new graphics engine, etc.

In my opinion, this is how "remasters" should be done. Rebuild it from the ground up, don't just increase the resolution and update the UI. It's great to see FF7 and Resident Evil 2 going this route.

I'm fine with it being episodic, provided that the episodes are not several months or more apart. Anything more than 3 months would be a deal killer for me, and I'd probably wait until 2022, when they would release the full game on disc-- as a VR remastered ultra remastered edition.

I'm still waiting for Half Life 2 Episode 3.

At the start there are only two difficulty levels available. I played on the highest one, not sure what they called it. After you beat the game new game plus unlocks and a harder difficulty level.

53  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XB1/360/PS3/PS4/PC]The Evil Within on: December 07, 2015, 02:19:03 PM
I finished this up last Friday. Playing on the default difficulty level I had a finish time of just over 16 hours and I ended up with 84 deaths. I would bet somewhere around 30 of those deaths came in level 10. The game definitely got harder as it went along, but level 10 was just cheap. Still I enjoyed the game and recommend it to anyone who loves RE4.

Isenberg looked even worse than I imagined. He's not supposed to be playing a psychotic batvillain, He's supposed to be playing Lex Luthor. Luthor is an ego-maniacal super genius, not some insane clown. This movie is going to be terrible.
55  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [TV] The Walking Dead Season 6 (Careful there will be Spoilers!) on: November 24, 2015, 03:53:05 PM
They need to kill off at least 3 of the characters that came with them to Alexandria because they are mostly just dead weight. Rosita, the lesbian chick whose name I can never remember who serves no purpose on the show other than to be there and also the fake scientist dude with the Mullet, he has been asking for it for a long time now.
56  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XB1/360/PS3/PS4/PC]The Evil Within on: November 23, 2015, 02:23:26 PM
I picked this up when it was on sale on the PSN. I just finished up chapter 6 and so far I'm liking it. It definitely has a RE4 feel to it, which is awesome since that was my favorite game from the PS2 era. Like others have said the game's first couple of levels aren't great, but levels 3 through 6 have been good.

I'm also not finding it as difficult as some people say it is. Through Chapter 6 I would guess that I have died some where around 15 times (With several of the deaths coming when my AI partner died). So does the game get harder as it goes?

This game probably wouldn't have happened without Microsoft, same as Street Fighter V and Sony, so the fact it'll come to Playstation at all is pretty cool.

I'm sorry to barge into this thread again, but I just wanted to clarify this bit. I have to admit I can't find any sources now since the original announcement news have more or less drowned in the more recent news (including reviews), but as mentioned earlier in this thread, the game was well into development before Microsoft stepped in. It would have been made anyway, and for both consoles simultaneously. I've more or less gotten over the majority of my annoyance with this, but I'm still super pissed that Microsoft paid to have the developers keep their mouths shut about the deal they made. As a result, Microsoft gets to tell the whole story as they want it to be portrayed, which results in the "it wouldn't have been made without us" silliness. If it hadn't been for Internet pressure, we probably wouldn't even have known about next year's PS4 release yet.

I'm glad that the game appears to be awesome though, despite all the negativity I pour on it. Looking forward to playing it next year.

Ditto. I want to play it, but I can wait.

I played the first two single player levels this morning. So far it's nothing to write home about. I think the old level design with limited pathways is really played out at this point. Mission two actually tries to make a point about how there are multiple routes to take to reach your objective, but in the end it boils down to going low, going high or going down the middle.

I love my PS4, but I've been supremely disappointed in the lack of exclusives. I'm talking real exclusives, not indie shit I can get all day long on Steam for half the price. It's been two years, for God's sake.

Did you play Tearaway Unfolded yet? Or Bloodborne or Tales of Zestiria or Until Dawn or The Vanishing of Ethan Carter or Disgaea 5? I mean those are just recently released titles I could keep going if you want me to.

Second Son for starters. It should be $20 on Amazon.

The Last of Us Remastered (if you haven't played the PS3 version)

Tearaway Unfolded

Helldivers

Bloodborne

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture

Rocket League

Until Dawn

The Order (This one is controversial but I loved it and so did Ron, plus it's only $20 on Amazon).

MLB15 if you like baseball

There's also the newest Tales game if you like RPGs. Honestly if you like JRPGS then you have to have a PS4.

Like I said earlier they took everything that was good about Uncharted 1 and 2 and turned it into something really incredible for Tomb Raider. If you really want to see what Naughty Dog is capable of buy The Last of Us Remastered. You can get a Digital Download code on Amazon for $15. (That's how I got it so I know it works). So as someone who hated Unity which game do you think is better, Unity or Syndicate? Or are they both bad when compared to W3 and MGSV?

I just started playing tonight and so far I like it. The graphics are pretty and the framerate is smooth, I haven't experienced technical issues, either. The mechanics haven't changed much, and in fact after playing MGS5 they feel kinda clunky, but overall the controls are tight enough for you to parkour and assassinate. I'm really digging the world and the atmosphere, Victorian London is an awesome setting. Evie, the female assassin, is a badass!

Did you play Unity and if so how does it compare to Unity? (I hated Unity, but loved AC IV)

Is Captain Cold a meta-human? Or is he just an arrogant nut job with a cold gun? I'm not sure.  icon_smile btw, I love the CW iOS app. It seems by far the smoothest and most stable of network apps I've used to catch up on TV series.

My visiting older brother and I were chatting about The Flash over dinner Tuesday, and he professed to be baffled by whether Tom Cavagnagh's character was Good or Bad. I explained you really have to watch the entire first season to really understand... and even than you may not fully understand, which I think is great. I found Season 1 enormously enjoyable binge watching over a few days; yet I can see in retrospect why I struggled to get into the show when just catching an episode here or there. When I couldn't see the big picture (forest for the trees, storyline metaphor wise  icon_smile), or I didn't catch the cool final seconds sequence each week, then I missed so much.

I always find comic book villains who are ambiguous are much more compelling than the strictly moustach-twirling dastardly doers. I think a vilain that
Spoiler for Hiden:
does genuinely GOOD things, but in service of an ultimately evil final goal
is really compelling.

Sometimes when watching Season 1 I was, "Why is this Barry Allen so GULLIBLE?" Just ultimately that's why he's likable I think, and different from all the Dark Superhero stuff -- he's naive, and really wants to believe in people and that people can change. And it keeps burning him. But I wouldn't want him to get too cynical in the show.

I suspect the cinematic Flash will differ because Zack Snyder is just not that much of an optimist, for better or worse.

Captain Cold isn't a Meta Human, he just has the Cold Gun and he's really smart when it comes to strategy and planning crimes.

I fear for Zach Snyder's Flash too. No doubt he will be dark and his suit will barely have a hint of red.

The problem is playing Uncharted 1 so far after the fact, after the general formula has been so significantly built upon and improved by other games since.  I can definitely see how it would have blown people away at the time.  Just a case of not aging well, I'm sure.

I think you nailed it on the head here, especially when compared to Tomb Raider. They took everything that was good about Uncharted 1 and 2 and turned it into something really incredible for Tomb Raider. For a fair comparison go back and play the other Tomb Raider games on the PS3/360 (Underworld, the remake, etc), they aren't nearly as good, they were stuck in the old formula, yet they were released around the same time as Uncharted 1. It took Uncharted to show other developers how to make a modern 3rd person action game.

RE 4 was my favorite game of the PS2 era. RE 5 wasn't nearly as good and RE6 was just plain terrible, so much so that it's the first main RE game that I haven't finished.

My hope is that they refine the controls and don't cram co-op into part 7.
