I haven't seen Sundays episode yet. My wife and I are actually enjoying this season quite a bit. Season 13 was the first one we didn't watch all the way through. Mostly because we couldn't find any teams to root for. This season is different though. It's the first one in a long time where I haven't found a team I despise and want to see lose. All of the teams seem to be composed of decent people who don't bicker with one another. Perhaps the only team I would not want to see win the whole thing are the Brother and Sister Lawyer team. The brother thinks he is way smarter than he really is and it's a bit annoying, but still, he is no where near as bad as some of the people in the past.

It is definitely something that you have to unplug your mind for...  I thought that this one had more story to it... less racing....maybe 3 that I can remember.  The plot is very much along the lines of 2...basically they run drugs (one time) for a drug lord in Mexico to the U.S.

So it's like Smokey and the Bandit, except it's drugs instead of Coors?

My theory is that the "Evil Metal Bitch" is actually fighting against the future Skynet Robots.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like she's trying to protect the Skynet-kills-everybody future.  My guess is she's going for some sort of timeline where terminators get invented, but humanity isn't wiped out.

Yet she wipes out someone on her own staff who doesn't agree with her, wipes out everyone in the facility that was doing something with terminator alloys, John Henry insinuates that she wiped out several employees who are recorded as having left the company, and she hints that Ellison may be wiped out if he outlives his usefulness.

She also hints that the survival of the little girl is inconsequential to the survival of John Henry. It doesn't sound like an entity who is too concerned with whether everyone dies or just mostly everyone.

We've already noted that John Henry can lie, and he was just recently taught to lie by Ellison and Liquid Mommy terminator. How much easier would it be for liquid mommy terminator to lie, especially since that's the whole reason for the shapeshifting - infiltration and subterfuge.

Here's the difference I see. Skynet is after the complete annihilation of the human race. They kill to kill. Evil Bitch seems to only kill when she has to for her mission. The liquid on the sub killed the initial human she saw, then it hid until it delivered the message. It could have gone on a killing spree and killed everyone there, but it didn't. While Evil metal chick will kill I don't think it is her purpose or her sides purpose to kill humans. Humans just get in the way sometimes. When Evil metal chick went to the warehouse in the desert she went there to destroy it, I assume this was a skynet facility, she killed everyone there, not because it was her job to kill, but because she had to erase the place from history.

my understanding of dmd's question was that he was asking about the sub episode and the appearance of the liquid metal robots, not about the validity of scraper's theory.  perhaps i misunderstood what he was asking about.
I'm a little sick, so my thought processes are not up to par(I was being dense).  When I read sub episode, I was thinking mini episode, not submarine episode.  I saw both, but still didn't catch that the liquid in the box was a European flavor.  I was also thinking about a tie-in to the upcoming movie, but I guess that'd be too much to ask.

Yeah this is all my theory like Disarm said. But the Submarine went to Europe to pick up the package, the package was actually the liquid terminator who had a message for future John Connor. John asked them (whoever them is) if they would join him. They said no. So I assume that wherever the liquid terminator is from, it is separate from Skynet. The liquid terminator also killed a human very freely so I assume it's not under the control of other humans in Europe.

With all of these assumptions it's not a stretch to then think that the "evil metal bitch" is actually from the same line of terminators as the liquid one on the sub and that they are working against skynet. Heck they could even be John Henry of the future terminators. Evil Bitch even said in the last episode that the future of the human race may depend on John Henry.
2570  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 on: April 06, 2009, 12:15:37 AM
My theory is that the "Evil Metal Bitch" is actually fighting against the future Skynet Robots. She is one of the European Liquids that we saw in the sub episode that is independent and is actually trying to develop John Henry to combat the future Skynet. Thus the current John Henry's brother is actually the Skynet computer. Nothing else really makes sense given all the clues they have dropped. Of course we still have one more episode to find out. I really hope it gets picked up. The fact that there is a new movie coming out may help its chances.

Yeah, what's even weirder is the fact that there is actually an invite system for the PS3.

A friend and I used it while playing RE5, however the system is extremely clunky, not well integrated into the XMB right now, but it does work.

Basically you have to press the home button when in a game that is invite compatible (like RE5), go to your friends list, and select a friend.  When his gamer card pops up, it may take a few seconds to load, but there will be options at the bottom.  The left most option should say "Menu" and if you select that it will interface with your currently running game, giving you the option to send that player in invite.

The receiving player basically has to do the same, opening up the in-game XMB, finding you on the friends list, then going to your gamer card and using the menu option to accept the game invite.

I didn't know that. But could Sony make that process any clunkier? I can't help but think that if Sony had decided to assign all of their home development team to improving the XMB interface, instead of working on Home, the console would be a lot more user friendly.
2573  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PS3 voice chat on: April 01, 2009, 08:27:28 PM
This issue drives me nuts and the software developers resistance to putting an easy to find friends connection within multiplayer games is another hot issue. If I want to play RE5 with a friend who I can see is online and playing the game I have to use the phone to call them, find out what level they are on, then randomly search through the small server list and hope I find his game. Crappy.

2577  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Anyone have XM radio? on: March 27, 2009, 03:29:00 PM
My main questions are about the service and the radios.    I see on the XM site they sell a plug and play radio for $59, $149, and $179.   Are these a simple setup that works with your current radio?   I do not want something that requires replacing my current systems.    How exactly do they far as installation goes?

Secondly, since we primarily listen to music, is the all music subscription all we would need for $9.99?   Does that get us ALL the music stations?

Lastly, any really good places to buy stereos that i mentioned above?

Anyone have it and can recommend it?  Opinions?

1. The Plug and play radios do offer an FM transmitter, but I have found them to be extremely weak and annoying. Your best bet is to buy a plug and play radio, but also buy an FM direct connect kit for it. This will allow the radio to connect directly to our radios Antenna and will block out all other channels on which ever channel you choose to use. No interference is good. As far as installation I have installed 4 radios myself, but if you aren't mechanically inclined then I would hire someone to do it if you go the direct connect route. If you are driving across country direct connect is a must because with the simple FM transmitter you will have to change the transmitting channel every time you enter a new city that is using the same FM signal that you are.

2. If all you want is music then the $9.99 package is fine, but for $3 more per month you can have every station that XM or Sirius has to offer, so it's really not that much to upgrade.

3. You won't have to replace your cars stereo.

4. I find that buying from XM or Sirius's website is just as good as anywhere else.

5. I highly recommend Sirius or XM. My commute each day is 2 hours and without Sirius I would have gone insane a long time ago. There is something to be said about commercial free music. There is also a ton of good programming available outside of the music stations. I personally prefer Sirius because I love the Howard Stern Show, but even without that I would still have satellite radio over regular radio any day.

I think the most dissapointing aspect of 5 is the storyline. It's a bit lackluster compared to past games. RE4 had a solid story from the start that sucked you in. 5's story is kind of just there. Heck chapter 1 is largely devoid of any storyline at all.

Lost is definitely worth watching. Heroes is backing up on my DVR but I'm pretty sure it will get deleted. I'm also way behind on Sarah Connor - save or delete?

I was just about to give up on Sarah Connor.  I was never a big fan of the show and I felt it was getting sillier by the week.  However, this past Friday night's show was such an incredible departure from the usual angst ridden episodes of Sarah pouting over how badly she feels about John's childhood that I was convinced to give it a stay of execution.  It was almost as if they hired a whole new writing staff that knew how to craft a good story full of action and mystery.

I agree, last weeks episode was really good. It finally showed John being an in control badass, and it did this without him ever even firing a gun or getting into a fight. He put everyone in their place.

Now the series needs to get back to John actually being hunted by a freaking terminator.

Well I got the new comp up and running and played all weekend. I really dig the added content. I know I'm probably starting to sound like a Turbine fanboy but I really do think they have a great game here and they sure as hell support it above and beyoind what some other MMO companies do.

Probably my favorite addition is a quest tracker. One complaint that some people had about the game was the vague quest directions. Now that complaint is gone since Turbine has added an optional quest tracker that will highlight areas of the map where you have quest objectives. It works a lot like the WoW quest helper plugin and I find it to be really helpful.

Yeah, I'm somewhat disappointed in the game so far (though still enjoying it) but I think Sheva's AI is quite competent.

I am enjoying the game thus far, but I find I am running into two issues:

1)  Sheva will, at times, stand there and do nothing.  My wife was watching me play and she said, "Is she ever going to shoot anything?"
2)  I keep running out of ammo.  I killed the chainsaw dude with my last bullet.  I then had to go through the next section with basically nothing and had to stab things to death (running through most of my health restorers) until I finally came into some ammo.  I wish you could buy it.

I found that if you buy the capacity upgrade, you get a full clip with it...but yeah it would be nice to be able to buy ammo.  I am also running really tight.

I use the clip upgrade trick too. I have also found that the knife is really effective against zombies that are trying to come in through windows. You can literally sit there and swing away while the Zombies keep coming back for more all the while you take 0 damage. Saves ammo that way.

With the exception Echo they are all reprehensible on some level and Echo is hard to care about because she changes every week and the one time she is the same she will no doubt say "Did I fall asleep". I hope ep 6 is better but I don't have much Faith.

(I am however a pretty big fan of LotR).

Being a big fan of the books may be what's different for you. Turbine has created an extremely accurate recreation of the LoTR world. Everything from town location, roads, building location, etc is exactly where it should be. Even the side characters are where they should be. Butterbur is there, The Rangers are a big part of the story, Bill is there, etc. Also, the game follows a main storyline that you progress through, as well as an abundance of side quests.

The model I'm currently looking at is the top of the line, looks like a machinegun and actually has a belt fed dart mechanism firing at about 3 darts a second.  Oh, and it's held Jessie Ventura style.  I'm actually considering getting it and a lot of extra belts and darts (via nerf's handy parts and supplies shop) for some terminator chaingun action.  Even thinking about loading the belts with 1 out of 3 being screamer darts, which have that whistling effect.

My 10 year old son has the one you are talking about. I have to admit that it is pretty awesome. That thing throws darts like crazy. The only bad part about it is that it takes 6 D batteries to power it. It's also kind of heavy for a 10 year old but he doesn't seem to mind. Good stuff.
