I once thought my PS3 wasn't powering on all the way. It turns out that the HDMI input I was using went bad and thus I didn't get any audio or video from it. I would check your cables and try a different input just to make sure.

Although when I tried the Red Faction demo (original, not Guerrilla) I could see through all the walls. Rainbow Six 3 works quite well, though. I haven't seen how far I can push it. I know it runs the Mac version of Lego Batman very nicely.

Shadow of the Colossus or ICO would be my recommendations.

I finally finished the Hillmen the other day in Himbar in Angmar. I tried to explain to someone in-game that you DON'T get credit for the deed if the targets con "grey" to you (I tried bashing some grey hillmen in Angmar, and they don't change the deed counter). I just never got around to working on it until 50 or so (on my other two Mains I was wise enough to beat up on the Lone Lands Hillmen much earlier).

I'd like to get pages 16, 17 for "The Best Defence" (it's a nice shield bashing legendary trait), but they just won't drop from the Gabilshur (sp?) dwarves in MM, though 2 other pages did. Only Page 39 ever seems available in the auction house. I've checked numerous databases about it, but I'm really stumped.

My Guardian's to 53 now. If I ever reach 60 I'll try to be better about participating in the end-game stuff. I haven't played my Hunter in many months now so I don't know how useful I'd be with Georic. His hotkey setup is like a Sudoko puzzle.  confused

I still have a couple of free trials for this btw, if anyone ever needs one.

I farmed all of my pages inside of Giblin Town. I know this works for Wards, not sure about guards.

I don't understand all this Entourage hate.

The show plays like a bad school play, to me. The actors pop off their lines one right after another without any pauses, without any natural conversation mannerisms. The situations with Drama, while sometimes funny, are often just over-the-top stupid, like in this past episode. There's very little that's actually likable about any of the characters - Vince is just there as an excuse to get chicks naked. Drama I already covered. Turtle is not interesting in the least. Eric is constantly whining. Ari is about the only likable thing on the show.

This video kinda sums it up pretty well.

And yet, as I said, I still watch. Probably helps that there's no interesting TV on right now, heh.

I have to agree with Cheeba here, I watch it and enjoy it, but I don't like most of the main characters. The wooden line delivery coupled with the fact that they are almost always walking while talking gets really old. Who the hell walks around as much as these four guys do. They are always walking somewhere together while trying to have a serious conversation. If they aren't walking together then they are sitting on a balcony sipping beer. Maybe they walk around all day while looking for a new balcony to sip beer on, then walk on to the next.

Realize that Graphics include animations, and realize that Replay includes the value.  Are you getting what you paid for?  Are there enough new features to justify the purchase.

Most sports game always have high re-playability simply because of the Franchise element and multiplayer. Technically each game is a replay.

If anyone on Elendilmir (Elindilmir?) is interested in mindlessly bludgeoning hillmen and wargs in a couple spots in Angmar, let me know (you'd probably want to be in the high 40s to 50 or so). I'm trying to finish up a couple of important deeds (the Hillmen one that gives the Strength of Morale trait [the 2200hp health-restorer]; the Warg one that gives a decent Fellowship HP increase).

I have to work through about 97 hillmen and maybe 70 wargs at this point, and it's tedious as heck solo.  icon_razz I probably won't be on tonight until about 9 p.m. EST-ish. My guardian's at 51 so I'm trying to work the hillmen about Himbar (other locations, I run into too many grey-cons that don't count towards deed completion). There's a hilly area far east of Gabilshur-whatever (dwarve camp, SE Angmar) that's crawling with the wargies I need, but the hillmen-deed is something I'm more eager to get.

Normally I work through the Hillmen deed in those hills east of Esteldin (which are crawling with Hillmen) but I got carried away with Forochel and Eregion, and by the time I realized it, I'd outleveled that paradise hunting area (all greys now).

I was able to do the Hillmen quest in the Eastern part of the North Downs. It was a brease there because they are all 30's or so. Anyway I should be on tonight so I might be able to help you for a bit.

You know, in Texas, we've reformed the hell out of tort. Under the "leadership" of the Republicans, and at the urging of the Texas Medical Association and Texas home builders, we've basically nailed the courthouse door shut in the Lone Star State. The result?

Well, we've made it damn hard to sue doctors who fuck up and ruin your life, but it hasn't brought down medical care costs. Doctors say that malpractice insurance costs haven't gone down (and we need to nail the courthouse door shut even more). Either they're telling the truth, and tort reform doesn't work because insurance companies won't lower their premiums, they'll just pocket the difference. Or they're lying, and they're pocketing the difference for themselves. The result is the same either way: costs are still skyrocketing, medical care has not improved, and it's harder to receive just compensation when a medical error harms you. A lose-lose-lose situation for Texans.

On the homebuilding front, it was even worse, actually. Bob Perry, who owns the Texas Republican Party (quite literally, he donates millions a cycle to GOP candidates, since there are no contribution limits in Texas), orchestrated the creation of the Texas Residential Construction Commission, which made it impossible to sue a homebuilder because the industry-dominated commission would always order a binding arbitration, which homebuyers had to agree to, because no one building a home would build it without a contract requiring that all claims go to the TRCC first. The quality of homes in Texas collapsed, and homebuyers had no recourse. Fortunately, Texas House Democrats were able to kill the sunset reauthorization bill for the TRCC this year, and that agency will vanish as of September 2010, restoring Texans' right to sue homebuilders who defraud them.

Tort reform sounds nice in practice. Still waiting for an example that helps every day folks, and not powerful, moneyed interests.

I wish I had a site for this but, in general Insurance companies profits and losses closely follow the ups and downs of the stock market. They in no way follow the ups and downs of medical malpractice lawsuits. Med Mal lawsuit payouts have steadily declined, while insurance rates have gone up. Blaming the Lawyers and making them look bad is just an easy way for the insurance companies to save face and limit their expenses.

(I know, show me the sites, they're out there, I just don't have the desire to find them right this minute)

Thats funny because I felt that character got a lot less interesting from that point onward. Should have stuck to the books in that regard methinks.

According to my wife (who is a major, major fan of the show and books), Layfyette wasn't even a major character in the first book.  The whole reason that Ball decided to keep him around on the show is that the character as played and scripted on the show turned out much better than what was in the books.

I loved his line about being older than Jesus and that he wished he'd known him.  Most shows with immortal characters get really silly with their protagonists knowing every single famous person from history.  It's like they can teleport to wherever something historically important is happening.

by the way, the guy looks like Joaquin Phoenix to me.

he reminds me of a larger version of Elijah Wood. But actually capable of playing a complete baddass. Godric is definitely a cool character.

Has anyone here actually read the books? I'm wondering if Godric plays a big role in the books, if he doesn't I sure hope HBO picks up on how cool he is and gives him a bigger role.

62 is almost a failing grade and based on the demo the gameplay fairs far above failing.

Also, to Ian's defense, he has been working very hard to listen to the fan community and has done a lot to advance the Madden series.  I think he's done a wonderful job and I can see how he would be a little pissed about the GT review score.

Tell the guy to look at my Tiger Woods 10 review. I basically made love to the game in my review. Maybe that will make him feel better.

Why would it make him feel better?  He is the lead designer of Madden 10.  He has nothing to do with Tiger Woods.  Again, these are Twitter posts.  The point of Twitter that it is not affiliated with EA.  If the guy thinks the review is bad then he can say so.  It's not like he is posting this on EA's web site or even in a forum.

It would show him that GT isn't just out to bash EA sports for simply being EA sports. We actually play the games and put forward our honest opinions, which are unaffected by the sites management and the publishers.

There's a thread at official forums about the new bounty quests if anyone needs more info:

I haven't seen loc coordinates for the Esteldin Dwarf, but I don't seem to recall there being too many dwarves there. He has a quest ring over his head, they say, and you only see it if you're a level 60 character, fwiw.

The bounty stuff was introduced in yesterday's update, though I don't recall seeing it detailed in the splash-login screen (I read about here and at official forums).

I'm really not into the whole Raid scene (unless kinship really needs my contribution on a given day), and I tend to just lose interest in my character once it hits the level cap (I'm maybe too focused on the Sense of Progression in MMOs). My Aussie-heavy kin pretty much unraveled once everybody got a couple characters to the level cap and didn't feel like working on new characters. But I could see digging my 60 hunter out of mothballs to check out the bounty stuff a bit.

Blackjack, do yourself a favor and try to at least run some instances with the kin, collecting the radience gear, lvling lengendary weapons, collecting elite jewelry and unlocking all the traits is arguably more fun than the grind to 60. Also the turtle raid takes about 30 mins if we beat it the first time out, so it's not a ton of time. I think of after 60 not so much as a leveling fest, instead it becomes a quest to perfect your character and really become a good player at your class. I think I'm a fairly good Warden, but I know there are Wardens out there who are much better than me, and my toon has been 60 for several months now. I get jealous when I see an unbuffed Ward with over 5000 Hit points and I struggle to put together 4200.

If you have characters at or near 60 and would like some nice ixp runes, check out the new bounty quests from a dwarf in Esteldin. There are 5 quests offered, 3 solo (sig mob) and 2 are small group (EM mob). The quest rewards are general ixp plus runestones with 60,000 or more ixp. Yes 60,000 ixp for a level 60 sig mob. And, they are repeatable, daily (although I"m not sure if there is a 3-time maximum like the bounty quests in Barrow Downs).

The target mobs are all over the map, so if you're a hunter it helps. One in the Shire, one in Forochel, one in Trollshaws, one in Fields of Fornost, and one in Misty Mountains. A very surprised level 11 RK in Rushock Bog watched me kill a level 60 sig wolf tonight.  icon_lol

If you read the police report it states that Gates was arrested for causing a commotion outside of his home for the view of his neighbors and other police. The problem with this is that it was the officer who admits that he told Gates to come outside of his home after Gates was already yelling inside the home. So  in effect the officer definitely contributed to Gates being arrested. If the police would have just left after being satisfied that Gates was the home owner, none of this would have happened. And yes the officer admits that very early on in the incident he knew that Gates was the homeowner. It should have ended right there.

A few of my friends are police officers, and asking the person to step outside is often normal protocol in situations such as this. Step 1 is verification of identity, and step 2 is to ascertain if the homeowner is actually "under duress" because the criminal may be in the house holding a family member at gunpoint, or pointing a gun at the homeowner from a location that is out of the officer's immediate perspective.

Do you really think it would have gone this far if the homeowner was courteous and allowed the police to check the home for intruders? Rolling up on the scene, they are under the impression this may be a life threatening situation for all involved.

Two years ago I worked on second shift. After returning home I would go jogging at about 1AM. One evening while jogging down the sidewalk near my home, a cop rolls up and asks to see my identification. Now, I could have blown up and said I'm doing nothing wrong, I live two blocks from here, where were you the last 30 times I jogged through this same area. Instead I stopped and gave him my ID.

He looks at me and says "kind of late to be running around the neighbor hood, isn't it?"  Again, I could have shot my mouth off and probably ended up in a bad situation. Instead I simply said that I work second shift and run after work to release the day's tension. The cop smirked and said "I'd need to jog 20 miles to work off my tension." I got my license back, he told me to be safe, and I was on my way.

Bottom line- show a little respect and strange and wonderful things happen.

Yeah I completely agree that Gates acted like an asshole and if he hadn't none of this would have happened. Still, the police have to be thick skinned.
