Played the PS3 demo, my worst fears about the co-op play are true. The stupid B is useless and just gets in your way. After about 4 minutes of play time  she was already annoying the hell out of me. If I am aiming at zombies please for the love of god do not stand in front of me, stay the hell behind me. I will still buy this game and play through it, but I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as RE4 when it first came out.

I can look past the controls, I can look past the animations, but if I constantly have to shoot through the stupid partner then I will hate this game.

So...

I had never played this before, and currently the PC version is a bit wonky in the control department and I get some graphics glitches.  I really dislike the controls so far as I tend to not go the direction I thought I would half the time.

Also on music...I honestly can't say I have noticed any music at all so far, but perhaps that is just something I don't pay enough attention to.

I am in the Ancient Mines, snapping pictures like crazy.  I am hoping there won't be too much gameplay in the hovercraft, that short portion I played so far was pretty weak to me compared to the rest of the game.

THe keyboard controls do suck, if you have a gamepad you should be able to use that instead.

I didn't have this game, so I ordered it from Half.com a couple of days ago, just in case it won. It should arrive in a week or so. I'll start playing once it gets here.

I have to admit, I know almost nothing about this game. I've seen it so many times in used game bins, but always thought it looked like shovelware. I never realized it was as highly regarded as it is. I'm actually really looking forward to playing the game, as it's rare when I play something with so little idea of what it's about.

I'm also very interested to see how many of us make it through the whole game. With older games, sometimes the challenge can be just getting the game to run properly (or even just getting the game in the first place).

From what I remember the first time I played it, the game takes about 15 hours to beat, so most of us should be able to finish within the month easy.

The women in Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, so HOT. If I went back to any of those countries I would have to be single, because otherwise I would be in trouble. I recommend finding a nice cafe with a window facing a busy street and just watching the women walk by for an hour or so. You will thank me. Of course right now it's probably super cold there so they won't be out in force our wearing revealing clothes.

Just a note about the legendary weapons. You can actually start the Epic quest to get them at lvl 45. Once the quest line is done you will receive your first legendary item. I finished it at lvl 46 and had no problems with difficulty. The best part is that it's a solo quest line so you won't be dependent on other people to get your weapons. I'm noe lvl 47 and I have two legendary weapons over lvl 10.

Server:  Elendilmir

Is anything happening on Elendilmir with GT?

Blackjack and I are both on there. Look me up as Hanton. We're in separate guilds, but I like mine pretty well. It's a casual guild with friendly people who are usually willing to help out if they can. While its not a huge guild there is almost always someone on and at peak times there are usually several people on. Look me up in game if you need anything.

I am now at level 16 and enjoying the game. Seems like WoW with a different skin.

Scraper can you invite me to your guild? I think it is time to join one because some group quest are starting to become the norm and people that I do a fellowship with always disband after a quest is complete.

I see you on all the time but I am fairly low level compared to you so I don't send message. I haven't seen blackjack on much.

Sure can, what times are you usually on. I will make it a point to look you up tonight.

I didn't see the fight, but I have seen several Arlovski fights and he seems to be the type of fighter that can beat anyone in the world on any given night, but he never really destroys people and thus leaves himself open to being beaten on any given night. Don't get me wrong the dude is scary and I wouldn't want him mad at me, but I don't think he will ever be remembered as one of the best fighters of this generation.

How do we think we'd do this? Open up discussion on a particular section at a time so people don't have to worry about getting spoiled?

Ah...I was thinking one thread per game, but I hadn't considered the issue of spoilers.

One thread per game section would be one way to do it, but I wonder if that would fracture the discussion so much that it would be hard to follow, and it would clutter up the forums.

A couple of other ideas...

  • Have only one thread, but ask people to mark things with spoilers.
  • Have two threads, one for general impressions and discussion, and another thread for plot/story spoiler elements.

I'd lean toward the simpler one thread plan, and ask people to take care to use spoiler tags with direct spoilers. To a certain degree, I'd expect that it will be impossible to prevent some foreknowledge from coming out in even general discussions about the game, but I'd imagine we could still talk about the game and avoid ruining the game for people. At certain points, we might ever "release" the spoiler restrictions on earlier segments of the game. For example, after the second week, we could not worry about spoiler tags for the first 10 levels of a game, or the 30% of the story, or whatever. If that doesn't work, we could try something else the second game.

I'm open to other ideas and feedback, though. As I was writing the first post up, I stumbled onto a small web community that was doing something similar to this. I'll see if I can find that again and learn what they did about handling spoilers.

I would go with one thread and use the hide spoiler function. These games are all old though and most people will have a clue as to what will happen with the story.

I believe it goes down to 640x480 and has standard resolutions from there. The PC version is essentially a console port.

Why don't you cross post this over in Console gaming and pick a couple of multiplatform games to post on a poll. We then let the people vote on what the game of the month in February will be. For example you could give the option of, Beyond Good and Evil, Resident Evil 4, The Darkness, Tomb Raider Anniversary. These are all multiplatform and that way no matter which one wins people will be able to play the winning game.

Unless the quest is to unlock a skill for your class or get a cool appearance item, the only reason to do a grey quest is for the do N quests in a zone deeds.

Yeah I would agree, the only real reason to do grey quests is for Deed work or loot drops.

Well, I've been playing for a little over a week now and have to say I'm completely in love with this game!! The storyline and the locations are what really hit this one home for me; everything is exactly where it should be geographically and the look is just perfect.  I played a few different characters and settled on a level 18 Champion on the roleplaying server.  I'm not sure how many characters I will level up, but I'm going to at least take this one up to 60 and enjoy the ride.  I find myself not much caring about levels right now... I'm just enjoying doing all the quests and deeds that are available.

Of note, I've never played an MMO with a more mature playerbase than this one.  Never a problem finding help with quests or people being asses.  It's a nice change.

The player base is definitely a huge improvement over WoW. Rarely have I been pissed at another player in this game. Most of the time people go out of their way to be friendly, not steal a kill, help out, etc. It's a nice change of pace.

It's called Terminator 3 and stars Arnold. How can it be anything but "official". And it was a worthy sequel. Not as good as Judgement Day, but still pretty damn entertaining.

I could be wrong here, but I thought I read that the new Terminator movies in production are working around T3, also there is no denying that the TV show completely disregards T3 (and is superior IMO).

OK...need some advice from those who've pushed through the majority of Middle Earth. Where would you go to quest alone from 35-40?

Would Fornost City have any soloable quests? What about Evendim?

I'm currently level 34, soloed just about everything I can around Bree-land, the North Downs, and the Lone-Lands, plus would like to stay in the general area at least until I have a mount to make long trips more tolerable. I'm on Brandywine, so the population is high enough that I never have an issues finding a fellowship for the huge amount of group quests I have...but I just don't always have enough time to really commit to a fellowship and hate to bail on one after a 1/2 hour in the midst of some huge battle...makes me feel dirty.

There are some great quests for you in Evindim. Make sure to grab Reforging the Sword from Aragorn in Rivendale. This is a long quest line that mostly takes place in Evindim. You can also find soloable stuff in the Trollshaws. So Evindim and Trollshaws.

First of all throw out part 3, it is being written off as not being official cannon.

questions 1 and 2 are answered in the TV series. There are several ways to incapacitate the various terminators and reprogram them.

3. I like bacon.

4. I assume they made it through because they took on human forms, and the skin was real enough to pass through.

5. Pay no attention to T3.

Remember when Superman came back, they used the lame excuse that his coffin contained an opening that allowed the sun to come in and heal him over time.

That's not what happened at all. When Superman died, the Kryptonian artifact known as the Eradicator decided to continue Superman's work. Since the Eradicator is blinded by bright light, it stole Superman's body, and placed him inside what was basically a giant Kryptonian birthing matrix (the same sort of device that originally transported Kal-El to Earth). The matrix channeled sunlight energy through Superman, and converted it to a form that the Eradicator could absorb to become one of the four leads in "Reign of the Supermen." At the same time, it was effectively like electro-shocking Superman to "reboot" him -- combined with the stored solar enregy in his cells this ended up having an effect like shocking a patient who's heart has stopped -- it reanimated him.

Yes, it's still sci-fi silly, but nothing along the lines of "the lid wasn't closed on his coffin."

Umm, isn't that what I said, but in a much less nerdier fashion.

Just want to mention that I switched over to Windows 7 this weekend and LOTRO runs so much better it's amazing.  Coming from XP I not only get 15-20fps more (with the same settings) but I also get the benefit of the directx 10 enhancements (Windows 7 comes with directx 11) and it loads quicker.  I've never gotten 60 fps in Bree before with every option on highest or next to highest (except for shadows which look amazing at medium).  I have it locked at 60 but before it was locked I was looking at 90-120 fps in the starting areas.

Putting some more time in now that I have a 80 and a 79 in WoW...I WILL hit Moria one day.

I switched over from XP too, my problem is that when I run the game on my 4:3 monitor the game dsiplays in 16:9, with the black bars at the top and bottom. If I select auto size, 4:3, or 16:9 it it doesn't change anything. Any ideas? I'm running a Geforce 8800gt with the updated nvidia driver from windows update.

It amazes me when a conservative shouts up and down about protecting the 2nd Amendment, but at the same time will think that this was a good decision. The entire Constitution needs protected in my opinion. I truly do not understand why some people think the Police should be able to do whatever they want. The 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th amendments were created for a reason, but for some reason conservative judges choose to forget the reason.  thumbsdown
