DDO is the micro-payment side there, is how I read it. For sure though, LOTRO fans are nervous, and only time will tell. I'd like to see it more as Activision taking on Blizzard but not messing with it, or (knock on wood) EA being relatively hands-off with Bioware.

Blizzard just sold $25 million dollars worth of pixels in the form of some kind of glowing, flying mount type thingy. I would imagine the entire MMO industry went "WTF?!?!" and started immediately working on something similar.

LOTRO will have micro-transactions and a Turbine Store where you can buy all manner of fluff (and maybe not fluff) before you can say "What's up, Doc?" slywink

Of course, I'm a cynical old bastard about business so maybe I'm completely wrong.

I don't think you are. Turbine has flat out said that they are making way more money now with DDO than they were when it was a monthly pay only game. Micro transactions are the future of MMOs IMO.

If I understand WB's licensing with Tolkien properties this could be a good thing for LotRO. Before, the only material Turbine could use had to come directly from the Trilogy. Now they have access to the Hobbit, Silmarian, and Children of Hurin, etc., I think. Which may allow them to expand the game universe much more. Especially with the Lonely Mountain, Rivertown, etc.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Once Upon a Time in Mexico. It's a western set in modern day Mexico, and an over the top sequel to Desperado, but Johny Depp steals the show and makes it worth watching. Also Micki Rorke is pretty good in it.

Do what now?

That movie has two redeeming qualities. Both of them are in Salma Hayek's shirt.

The rest of it is crap.

You can't ell me Johny Depp isn't good in that movie. I'm not listening. (Fingers in my ears) LALALALALALALALALA.

Husqvarna and Stihl are both badass. The Coke and Pepsi of chainsaws. To me the most important part of any chainsaw is the power, without a strong enough motor even the sharpest blade won't cut as good.

They are expensive though, so if you want non-expensive one you could try Homelite. I have a Homelite and it's price to performance ratio is pretty good.

Rather it was a case of homosexuality. The church is in such denial and the funny part is they have no clue how horrible it makes them look.

i think you are referring to Bill Donahue making the distinction between pedophilia as pre-pubescent and homosexual acts as post pubescent.  He was trying to insist this isn't pedophilia and based it on a John Jay study which they since declared that Donahue was not referencing their study correctly.

That's him. He was talking about a case where a priest abused dozens of deaf boys. Amazingly the priest wasn't fired. Just moved to Kentucky.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope. It has nice old school RPG charm, but modernized.

Tried it, thought it was very 'meh'.   Typical tri-Ace game with a decent combat system, but boring as hell story and characters.

Tales of Vesperia, on the other hand, I quite enjoyed

How far did you play into it? I don't find the story to be boring at all.

As much as I've made fun of the show this season.  That was as good as 24 has been since season two IMHO.

I'm hoping they saw all the criticism and adjusted accordingly, I don't know how far they shoot in advance though.

Production was actually halted for a bit after the season started because of an injury to Keifer, so I'm guessing they had some time to change at least some of the last couple of episodes.

I had to turn down the difficulty to easy on the boss fight to save Saki which annoys me.  I am not a great fighting game player but really the engine isn't that great.  I knew that in the second phase the enemy was in heat mode all the time, so I knew after I punched twice he would counter and beat me so I tried to block right away after two hits.  It never ever worked.  The engine just doesn't work slick enough to do it.  It is fine to make a fighting game mechanic but it should be good!

Anyway I was able to beat him on easy so I can keep going but I wish the combat engine was a bit better.

I beat that guy on normal the first time through, but I had to use the environment to my advantage, I bashed him with as many things as possible and used my heat attacks near objects to smash his head. It worked, but it was a close fight and I had to heal a couple of times.

Thanks scraper. I took a chance on it and got it here used as the demo looked fine. It's running pretty well so I wonder if Sony added some form of upscaling to 1080i along the way or if sega just didn't bother to put it on the box. Whenever I see it's missing, it brings back how bad fear 2 looked when I played it last year.

I haven't played much beyond the gravesite portion but it looks interesting so far.

I feel you. My main gaming TV is 1080i only, luckily I have another TV that does 1080p and 720p. But when the PS3 first came out I was pissed because every single game only supported 720p. Luckily for us most games now support 1080i (with the exception of Rock Band 2 and Star Ocean, grumble, grumble, grumble).

i could pick up a copy, and was close to the other day, except for one glaring issue that is make-or-break for me.  the game says it supports 720p only.  the last time i tried a game that didn't support 1080i, it looked like a ps2 game.  it was ok then as i had it rented, but if i'm set to drop $60 on a game, i'd like it to look a little better.

anyone with the full game on an older hdtv out there?

or is the demo sporting the same level of detail?  it didn't look too bad to me, but i'm still a little reserved right now.

I have the US retail version and it supports 1080i and 1080p so I'm not sure which version you have, but if its the US version then you should be good. Also, I have an older HDTV that doesn't support 720p and it looks fine in 1080i.

Here's my full review I gave the game a 73, here's my summary:
If you are a twitch gamer who demands a robust or even decent fighting system then you should steer clear of Fragile Dreams. But, if you enjoy a story driven adventure that is about a journey to try and salvage a normal life when it seems that none is attainable, then you will mostly likely find Fragile Dreams charming and worthwhile

I even dropped the shield since it doesn't do anything against him. That sucker owes me over 10k souls. I guess I could try sniping him from up top. I just need to farm more arrows. This is why I always carry payoff insurance on vehicles. It's usually only about a dollar more a month and it will pay off your loan, plus replace the car, it's nice.

I've totaled two cars. The first one was an accident, the second less so. Both times, insurance paid out considerably more than the car was really worth. I recommend it for cashing in on a beater.

Collisions are a lot less beneficial if you're fond of your car. I was never very happy with the repairs after I nearly totaled my current car, even though it was only body damage. The paint job started showing some bubbles and pits and hairline cracks after a year. Now I'm kind of hoping to get hit again so I can repaint.

I have a paid off 2002 Ford Taurus with 170,000 miles on it. I would take anything I could get for it and be dancing in the street.

I am writing my review up on this one now. But if you were worried about the length, don't be. It's actually over 10 hours. I could see people easily taking 20 hours to collect everything and fully explore the game. In my opinion it's actually a perfect length because anything longer would have been too long.
