Loved, loved, Loved! Jack's assault on President Weasel's motorcade. That was so badass! Also, loved how they just showed the after effects of Jack's rampage thru the Russian Ambassador's office.

I hear that things will not end up well for Jack as the series ends, but having him cross the line into full revenge mode is writing genius. He's lost his moral compass (momentarily) and everything's going to hell.. and lots of people are paying for their immoral decisions (sorry President Taylor, you too). I'm totally pumped for the series finale!

This episode was awesome and IMO one of the best single episodes in series history. BUT I really wish they would have shown Jack killing those Russian guys. It would have been so bad ass. Oh well, seeing the after effect was still pretty sweet.
2122  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [HBO]The Pacific on: May 17, 2010, 08:10:58 PM
This series was actually more powerful for me than BoB was. The reason being that my grandfather (Who is still alive) was a Marine who served in the Pacific and took part in many of the battles shown in the series. Having this living person who I love and respect go through that really drove home the horror that our forefathers went through. I have always respected my grandfather's service, but this series really put it at a whole new level, and it makes me question whether or not I could do what he did. Bob wasn't able to do that for me as much, I think mostly because I never had a person close to me who participated in the European theater, so I couldn't relate to is as much.

Having the ability to live through something like that and then once it's all over come home and actually be a productive part of society truly is amazing to me. Watching Sledge's struggles once he got back really drove that home.
2123  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [TV] Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains on: May 17, 2010, 03:00:21 PM
Russell's expects the jury to not have any feelings. He thinks they should respect his game because he is the best at targeting another player and getting them voted out. The problem is that he was the only one in that final 12 who can put his feelings aside and say who played the best strategically. Everyone else clearly wanted to vote for the person who played the cleanest game. Which definitely wasn't Russell.

I started using Livestrong.com, it has a very easy to use online calorie counter that records everything you eat and has a fitness aspect to put in how much exercise you do.

I've tried using several different calorie counters and exercise trackers, but I never have the patience to keep up with them.   icon_confused

Since the Insanity meal guide is set up in chunks of equal caloric amounts per meal, I've gotten pretty good at guesstimating the amount of calories in my meals.

Nice job on getting rid of the man boobs. But I think the weight loss is even more noticeable in your face and overall head shape. You look much better without the extra weight up there. You should think about starting to lift weights, it will tone your body and give you a better shape. even a light 30 minute workout targeting the major muscle groups three times a week will give you noticable results within a month or two.

Spoiler for Hiden:
So they're going with Hector Hammond as the villain?     Sinestro is in the film,  so I guess he's still in the Corps and doesn't go rogue until the sequel.  I've always felt the poor guy was doomed to super villainy from the beginning, what with that evil, little, moustache, and being named "Sinestro".   It's kinda like being stuck with the name "Von Doom".

Pretty happy to hear that my favorite Lantern,  Kilowog,  is going to make an appearance.  We just don't see enough alien warthog-looking Galactic Drill Instructors these days.

I have a hard time believing that Hector Hammond will be the main villain. Side villain maybe, but he's not strong enough a character to get main bad guy billing. That would be like making the Toymaster the main villain in a Superman movie. Lame.

I hate to ask, but is there any way to equate that to Wow level time?

I would say they are about the same. LotRO used to take longer, but Turbine really revamped the starting areas through lvl 30 to make it easier and smoother to lvl up. The problem I see you running into is that not all of the skirmishes open up a lvl 30. You have to reach certain lvls to unlock most skirmishes, but some also require you to complete certain quests. But, if memory serves three of them do open up at lvl 30.

The Lesbians were definitely ugly on both the outside and the inside. They couldn't take the fact that Caite was actually playing the game and eliminated them. Their sense of superiority over other people is very evident.

Overall it was a great season. The show kept on pace and never dragged, there weren't very many lame challenges and two of the best teams were neck and neck at the end. I was rooting the cowboys as well, but the other two brothers just destroyed that memory challenge and really earned the win so I can't be mad at them.

Even as stupid as ncl-Jack is I think he's finally getting a clue that something's not quite right in NCL.
Poor Jin and Sun. That wasn't very nice of the writers.

The whole plane/attack the sub stuff didn't feel right. Uber-paranoid Widmore had only two guards at the plane? The sub was unguarded? Didn't make any sense to me. Maybe smokey did more damage than was shown when he freed the prisoners? Piss poor writing?  icon_lol

I'm still holding out hope that smokey is not the bad guy simply because the idea of Widmore being the good guy is repugnant.  icon_lol

As for Widmore, after this weeks episode I'm starting to think Widmore is actually in league with Smokey. Why in the heck would he attack smokey and not have the stupid fencing ready. He knows Smokey is going to retaliate, but he attacks without having his defenses ready? It doesn't make sense and it was out of character. Plus he didn't show his face at all once smokey was on the attack. The whole thing seemed weird to me.

You can solo a hunter and a champ fairly well. I really cant say which one is more fun, but there certainly seems to be a lot of hunters in the game so people must like that class.

Since when did Hunter become a melee class? slywink

I assume he means high DPS that isn't a magic caster, thus Champs and Hunters. I would actually put your suggestion of a Captain in as a tank/bard type character, not a melee character. Of course this is assuming he means high DPS and not just that they are close range fighters.

I say go with the Rune Keeper as well. It's definitely the best spell caster class in the game and you can solo really well with them. The Loremaster is the other major spell casting class, but they don't solo well at all.

So how has this game come along since launch?  I thought it was pretty solid back then, but haven't played since that time.

Is the majority of the game soloable now (similar to WoW)?  Other than dungeons of course.

Eminently soloable.  I'd say I've soloed 95% of my time running 1-65.  Even more soloable now, given the fact that the Epic Quests have been redsigned to allow players to do it either in a group or solo.

Yeah I agree very soloable at this point. Of course in order to get the most out of the game you need to have a good group of friends. There are tons of great instances in the game that reguire 3 to 6 players. Non are mandatory, but it would be a shame to miss them.

DDO is the micro-payment side there, is how I read it. For sure though, LOTRO fans are nervous, and only time will tell. I'd like to see it more as Activision taking on Blizzard but not messing with it, or (knock on wood) EA being relatively hands-off with Bioware.

Blizzard just sold $25 million dollars worth of pixels in the form of some kind of glowing, flying mount type thingy. I would imagine the entire MMO industry went "WTF?!?!" and started immediately working on something similar.

LOTRO will have micro-transactions and a Turbine Store where you can buy all manner of fluff (and maybe not fluff) before you can say "What's up, Doc?" slywink

Of course, I'm a cynical old bastard about business so maybe I'm completely wrong.

I don't think you are. Turbine has flat out said that they are making way more money now with DDO than they were when it was a monthly pay only game. Micro transactions are the future of MMOs IMO.

If I understand WB's licensing with Tolkien properties this could be a good thing for LotRO. Before, the only material Turbine could use had to come directly from the Trilogy. Now they have access to the Hobbit, Silmarian, and Children of Hurin, etc., I think. Which may allow them to expand the game universe much more. Especially with the Lonely Mountain, Rivertown, etc.

Husqvarna and Stihl are both badass. The Coke and Pepsi of chainsaws. To me the most important part of any chainsaw is the power, without a strong enough motor even the sharpest blade won't cut as good.

They are expensive though, so if you want non-expensive one you could try Homelite. I have a Homelite and it's price to performance ratio is pretty good.

i think you are referring to Bill Donahue making the distinction between pedophilia as pre-pubescent and homosexual acts as post pubescent.  He was trying to insist this isn't pedophilia and based it on a John Jay study which they since declared that Donahue was not referencing their study correctly.

Anyway I was able to beat him on easy so I can keep going but I wish the combat engine was a bit better.

I beat that guy on normal the first time through, but I had to use the environment to my advantage, I bashed him with as many things as possible and used my heat attacks near objects to smash his head. It worked, but it was a close fight and I had to heal a couple of times.

I haven't played much beyond the gravesite portion but it looks interesting so far.

I feel you. My main gaming TV is 1080i only, luckily I have another TV that does 1080p and 720p. But when the PS3 first came out I was pissed because every single game only supported 720p.
