The collision detection is pretty solid in this game so if you roll straight at a bad guy you will get stuck in front of them. Try rolling away or just to the right or left.
164  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: PS Vita Impressions! Price drop! Casual Edition! Vita TV! on: March 27, 2015, 01:54:52 PM
As for the integration with the PS4 there aren't a lot of games that use it as a pure second screen (ie to display maps, inventory, etc.). BUT every single PS4 game can be played through the Vita's remote play feature. So if your tv is being used for something else you can always play your PS4 games through the Vita.

Also I have a post above about the Vita 2.0 vs Vita 1.0 up above and honestly both are good systems. I would say go with which ever one you can get a better deal on. 1.0 has a slightly better screen, but 2.0 has a much longer battery life and it is lighter so it feels better in your hands.

So, they kind of have a suspend mode in now? However, looks like they limited it to only when the system isn't being used further?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. This is a full suspend mode from what I understand. The limitations are probably only going to be related to online-only titles.

Yeah I don't get what he means either. The PS4 has always had a suspend mode when the PS4 was still left on. You could hit the PS button go back to your main screen and watch youtube or surf the PSN store and then go right back to your game. The difference now is that you can actually put the PS4 in sleep mode and then turn it back on and be right back where you left your game. In other words it doesn't close your programs when you go into sleep mode now.

I'm going to go on the record and say that suspend mode is awesome. You can literally turn your PS4 on and be back in your game within 10 seconds.

Father G gave me some trouble in his 3rd phase, mostly that if he hit me once I was pretty much dead.  The first 2 phases I never really had a problem with.  BSB was a similar deal, and I beat my head against him for over an hour before going exploring and eventually finding some armor with resists that allowed me to take him out.   So far you seem always able to go in at least two directions and choose from 2 different bosses at a time.  Before I take on my fourth boss though I'm off to farm so I can buy this sweet new trick weapon I just unlocked at the store for 20k.
The first time I tried the priest I was lvl 17 and I got him half way down. The second time I was 20 and I had the hunter armor.

If you ever figure anything out let me know.

I can easily find an HD stream on Saturdays and Sundays to watch soccer, and need to figure out how to make my computer record said stream.  Then, I'm officially done.    I never wanted to go back to Comcast and look forward to when I can give them the finger and move on.

Good luck tomorrow.

A comment on the poster: I am by no means bilingual but I think we are getting to a point where using both Marzo and March /Sabido and Saturday is unnecessary. I would think 1 or the other would be sufficient.  It's odd that they chose to do dual language for those two items only. I can envision a day not to far from now where we could easily mix Spanish and English on a poster or sign and most people wouldn't miss a beat. Spanglish perhaps.

Off topic comment over.

Again good luck this weekend Kato.

Sony needs to step up their AAA title game for the PS4. Xbox One got Tomb Raider Remastered and PS4 gets more indies. In fact the only AAA title I can recall PS+ giving out is the DLC for Infamous.

Seriously? By your count  it is currently 1-1 on AAA titles (Tomb Raider vs First Light). The fact is Sony gives away 6 games per month and historically there have been some really great games in there. Also just last week Tomb Raider was on sale for $15 on the PSN, at that price it's a steal.

Sounds like you troubleshooted as best you could without doing a complete hard drive wipe.  Is Titanfall the only game doing this? Or all your games?

Nope, I tried the newest Tomb Raider and it made it into about 5 minutes through the cave and locked up.  I also tried the Tomb Raider game that looks like Diablo and it immediately crashed as soon as I started to move...  But, on games that require next to no special/hard graphics, like Beat Hazard and BroForce, they'll play absolutely fine.

Should I just backup all my pics and docs and wipe the thing or will putting in this new GTX 960 fix it?  I'll post my rig info tonight, after class.  Thanks

If you already have the new card on the way I would just wait to see if that fixes it. I know you updated the Nvidia drivers, but did you completely uninstall them prior to installing the new one. I would definitely do that prior to putting the new card in. Basically, uninstall the Drivers with the old card in. Turn off PC, install new card, turn PC on, install most recent Nvidia drivers. If that doesn't fix it then you know it's not the card or the Nvidia driver.

any thoughts on the fence supports being on the 'wrong' side? I'm no engineer but I would have thought that by having the fence supports on the inside of the fence that it could better withstand the pushing from hordes of undead.

It's definitely strange and the director went out of his way to show the supports being on the outside so I doubt it's just something the design and writing crew over looked. Either it is meant to keep people in or at some point in the story the stupid design will show that the Alexandria people really don't know what they're doing.

I haven't read the comics so I don't really know what to expect with this group. I do find it hard to believe that they could survive this long being that close to a highly populated area, even more so if they are as naive as they are playing. Even if the Army did evacuate there would still be a ton of walkers and other people in the DC area.

OK, great, I can dodge when the red X shows up but so what - how in the hell do I kill it? Can't seem to shoot it, the R1 secondary weapon on the rifle doesn't seem to phase it and any time we grapple, my mad button mashing still ends up with me dead.  mad

So what works?

Just shoot them a few times, then run up to them and do the context-sensitive killing blow. You should get a tutorial message about this the first time you have to do it. It's not hard at all, honestly.

I wouldn't think so, which is why I was getting pissed off about being 'stuck'. I've yet to see any tutorial message about a 'killing blow', I'll see if I can get it to trigger tonight.

After you shoot them enough times they will go down and not move and then the button will appear allowing you to finish it off. If you don't finish it fast enough it will get back up and try to kill you again.

My experiences at local gamestops haven't been nearly as bad. They usually ask me about pre-orders on a game or two, but it's never as bad as Ron's experience. I usually say "No I'm not interested in anything else right now" and that's good enough. I pay and leave.

With that said I have never bought a system from Gamestop and I usually only buy niche games that are hard to find at other stores, so I'm not in there all that often.

Well, I've played the first three chapters (plus prologue) now, and I've enjoyed them a lot. I think I'm starting to see why so many reviewers disliked the game though. We've gone through a very gradual change in video games over the last 10 years or so, where developers and publishers (particularly those) don't want to risk the player becoming bored, so there has to be action all the time. Better yet, there should be plenty of action between the action, just to avoid any risk that you'll lose interest. Ubisoft has become particularly bad at this. Count the number of random encounters you'll run into when moving from one location to another in Assassin's Creed Unity or Far Cry 4, for example. It gets tiresome really quickly, unless you've got a really short attention span (which admittedly the primary target group most likely has). EA isn't much better (worse? Opinions, opinions...) either though.

The Order: 1886 doesn't care about that. It does its own thing at its own pace, and you'd better like it or else. At least up to where I am, this is a storytelling game first and foremost, with the occasional and competent shooter section to break up the dialogue and linear exploration. This doesn't really fly with modern action game expectations, and most players will probably be left tapping their feet impatiently while waiting for something "fun" to happen. If you can appreciate a good story with well-acted characters though (caveat: it could take a 180 later on for all I know, but at this point the story and characterization feels surprisingly mature and restrained, even more so when compared to the incredibly banal Gears of War series), you'll find something to like here.

People often compare this game to Ryse now that the verdict is out, but that seems a little unfair. Ryse's gameplay was extremely simplistic, while The Order: 1886 is a full-blown shooter with some very original weapons.

I'm at the exact same point in the game and I agree completely. I just hope the story doesn't peter out, because at this point it seems like it's building up to something good. The game honestly reminds me of a mix between Gears and recent Telltale games (Walking Dead, GoT and Borderlands). Heavy on story and QTEs (like TT games) but then it will break out into full on 3rd person shooting. So far I like it.

The title previously required users to connect with a companion app and the AC Initiates website in order to unlock certain items. That changes today.

“Patch 5” unlocks all of the blue and gold chests connected with progression related to Initiates and the app.

The patch, which also includes a new round of performance optimizations and bug fixes, is expected on consoles today and on PC later in the week.

I bet they are only removing the companion app requirement because 90% of the people who actually tried to use it couldn't even get it to sync. Which is really just one of the many things they fucked up with this game.

I tried playing Unity, but I just can't get into it. The next AC will need to have absolutely glowing reviews for me to even consider it. I should have known better too after I had the same experience with Watch Dogs.

There's a Let's Play for the game, which your number is based upon, that clocks in at roughly 5 1/2 hours, I believe. The player rushes through the game without exploring anything, and almost never dies. I haven't seen it myself, but this is what I've been told. The player himself says that the game is longer than his Let's Play suggests, with reports indicating that the average length for most people should be somewhere between 8 and 15 hours.

I've heard the same thing, so it's a safe bet that the game is 8 to 12 hours for most gamers.

I love the ways they show how strong Cap is.  His powers if you don't read the comics mostly come across as "he is really fit" but this kind of shows he is a bit stronger than that.

In the comics his strength is comparable to Spider Man's and by most accounts Spider Man can lift about 10 tons.

Also there is no way the Hulk could ever lift Mjolnir because lifting it is not based on strength, it's based on worthiness. Comic book Drazzil could lift it if he was deemed worthy enough.

I was a big Fantastic 4 fan as a kid so the first 2 movies where huge letdowns for me. While I don't have high hopes for this reboot, it will have a hard time being as bad as the Rise of the Silver Surfer. That movie was just awful.

If they want to make this movie great they really need to nail Dr Doom. Take a look at Loki, they nailed that character and every scene he is in is better because of it. If they can somehow find a way to make Dr. Doom as interested as he should be then this movie has a chance. But heck I don't even know if this movie has Doom in it.

I don't think they stated it outright, but it was strongly implied if nothing else. It also fits neatly into the vision Microsoft has of becoming a company for services, not products.

They literally stated it outright.

This has the potential to be really great or really bad. It could go bad if the "free" upgrade version is a neutered version with important features missing that you now have to pay extra for. They could get carried away and make features like media server connectivity and media player monthly charges. If it's free then please give us a full release don't nickle and dime us so that it costs more in the long run. I'm not saying they are going to do that, just that I could see them doing that and if so that would suck.

Tearaway is excellent if you're in to platformers. Plus it's easy to get the platinum trophy so there's that added bonus. The Devs actually used the camera, microphone, motion sensing, and touch screen in ways that added to the gameplay rather than taking away from it.

I did pick up the Ratchet and Clank collection for Vita and I'm pleasantly surprised by the port from the PS3 version. The controls are just as tight as they are with a DS3 and the graphics don't suffer at all making it a steal at $12.
Tearaway is pretty fun, even though the controls can be a pita sometimes.  I gave up on the plat after failing the whole no-death run on the rolling ball levels.

When you get the trilogy, does it install all the games at once or is each an individual download?  That is the worst aspect of the GoW collection.

It installs all of them at once, and there is only 1 game icon, so you launch the collection, then choose from within the game which one you want to play. I think the DL is 3.3 gigs.
