Hark after our chat the other night I tried out the MP after beating the game.............

Initial impressions are not good at all. I haven't seen lag like that since dial up Half Life TDM on the PC.
Horrid character models, choppy animation and bland level design. Underpowered default weapons.... The list could go on and on.
I may try once more later this evening but for now it's a deal breaker.
122  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tomb Raider on: March 07, 2013, 05:57:00 AM
Well I just finished the campaign. Very satisfying and happy to say that it kept me engaged the entire time.
Hard to say how long it was for me as I like to explore and spent time going back to previous areas. I would guesstimate that it clocked in at around 24hrs? I've had it since last Friday slywink the
The game tells me that I completed it with an 85% completion record.

Was able to upgrade all the weapons save for the pistol. Never located the missing 3 parts.

Anyhoo feel free to ask questions.

I just got fire arrows while in shanty town. Amazeballs!
124  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tomb Raider on: March 05, 2013, 06:47:37 AM
I am so close to calling this my game of the year! Don't hesitate! Go and get this tomorrow.
Loving the exploration and the idea that you can go back to other levels to reach previously unattainable areas.

GOTY contender.
125  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tomb Raider on: March 03, 2013, 03:55:34 PM
There was an update to the 360 on Friday night when I started playing too.
126  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tomb Raider on: March 02, 2013, 07:33:19 PM
initial impressions from about 2 hours of game play.

Really like it. Graphics are great - level design is amazing tons of areas to explore with vertical options aplenty. When you have your torch lit I must say that I have yet to see a better representation of realistic fire to date.

Atmosphere is just right! ambient sounds and music are spot on -
Spoiler for Hiden:
you'll notice this first right after you get to the camp on the cliff side and you enter the Japanese bunker - the music from the phonograph is amazing

There are some issues with the camera at times - most of the time you are free to look around however there are some instances where it 'locks' onto just one perspective and feels like you're handcuffed. Kinda hard to explain but you'll see.

Enemy AI is OK right now - too early to tell. I am playing on normal.

Good use of skill points and scavenging options to increase your ammo capacity / bow strength / hunting etc etc.

You can fast travel between camps which is great if your the kind of player who likes to find EVERYTHING on a map before progressing.

And I'll say it again I really like the level design and set pieces - the ruined Japanese structures are really quite something.

You'll also have to be spot on with the QT moments - it seems pretty unforgiving so far.

Anyhoo - not much to say other than I am glad that this was my first time with Tomb Raider.

Edited to add: this game feels very much like my first few hours with Far Cry way back when on the PC. That being said there are a ton of similarities between TR and Far Cry 3 : mysterious island, Japanese emplacements , artifacts and notes left behind by soldiers.

Also a nice touch that I've never seen before is that when she is walking in water she stumbles and plods along just like a real person does. There is no skating thru the water if you get my meaning.
127  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tomb Raider on: March 02, 2013, 04:35:59 AM
I got mine for the 360 tonight - played about 40mins so far. too early for impressions but I like what I see so far.

This.

A bit tired of these kind of demos, I know they will never stop but actual gameplay (lol @ Aliens) would be nice

%110 agreed Kato - I'm sure that the in-game cut scenes will look amazing - but come on!

Guess my parents thought we were all dumb as children because our home telephone number was (xxx) 699-9944 and our cottage was (xxx) 533-3311

I still remember tons of phone numbers.
141  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/360/PS3]Crysis 3 on: February 19, 2013, 10:18:29 PM
I'll pass on this. While I enjoyed Crysis 2 the lack of an actual boos fight at the end left me befuddled and betwixt as the end simply caught me off guard.
Add to that th 5-6 hr estimated and its simply not worth my 70$ what with Tomb Raider and God of War on the horizon.

144  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PC/PS3] Dead Space 3 on: February 15, 2013, 08:53:03 PM
Finished the game the other day and on the whole I really enjoyed it. I have always liked every DS game and this one is exception.

While at first I thought that the crafting was a little too 'difficult' to master I cam to really rely on it.

Sure there were frustrating points - every game has them. For example:
Spoiler for Hiden:
very near the end - in fact leading up to the final battle when you are racing along the path while the moon is coming apart I was constantly dying! why? Because I failed to understand that the path behind me was breaking apart and I did not have enough time to beat the monsters before the time expired!! Very frustrating.

Anyhoo - despite that I am playing newgame+ and liking that I am a killing machine now!

145  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PC/PS3/WiiU]Aliens Colonial Marines on: February 13, 2013, 04:49:51 AM
The last Aliens game that I enjoyed was back in 99 or early 2000 on the PC.
146  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PC/PS3/WiiU]Aliens Colonial Marines on: February 13, 2013, 04:36:13 AM
What a shame. Thats 2 turds from Gearbox what with Duke Nukem and now this.
At least I have Dead Space 3 to keep me warm at night.

Out. Black Ops 2 is the last for me this generation, I fight lag more than other players.

I'm pretty sure that I am with Kato on this one. I am tired of seeing death replays showing me either not shooting and/or seeing my death in a place where I was not like around the wall /  being circle straffed when it did not happen like that on my screen. I could grin and bear the last few titles because I liked the camaraderie but there is only so much smiling I can do.

About 5 hours in now and I'd say it's no more action packed than any of the previous DS games.  It pretty much has the exact same formula as the other two.

Couldn't agree more. This game is DS plain and simple. Really liking it now more and more. It says I am about 26% in and 7.5 hrs thus far - I like to explore smile

150  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PC/PS3] Dead Space 3 on: February 06, 2013, 10:46:37 PM
Got it thanks Leo.

Played a little more today and got to just after chapter 5 I think. Now it's starting to click again with me.
Bench is a little easier now but will take some time. One thing I don't like is that it will let you assign circuits to guns even if they won't work. Eg: I added extra clip to the lower rail on my cutter. Thing is that I have the rotate axis option. It allowed me until I realized that there was no reason. Just poor decision and understanding on my part  retard

I am liking it better and better now. Glad I stuck with the series ( so far ......)
151  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PC/PS3] Dead Space 3 on: February 06, 2013, 04:48:33 PM
initial impressions after about only an hour and a half of gaming.

I like it - forgot how weak my plasma cutter at it basic build was  - or did they nerf it?

I will say that I find the bench upgrades interface and menus confusing right now and not nearly as easy to understand / perform as DS1 & 2.
Yuck!

saw this a few weeks ago and I came away with: "Meh. I'm glad I saw it" kinda feeling.

For me at least it seemed to lack the magic of the FoTR and the rest of the LoTR films. It felt similar to HBOs The Pacific in so far as trying to live up to what Band of Brothers was (and still is)

Anyhoo - like I said I am glad that I saw it and look forward to the other 2 installments.

Hmmm. Dead space meets Lost Planet?

Looks to be more action oriented based on the video. Hope they didn't ruin the formula that made the previous 2 games a release day buy for me.

The FAL has a fire selector now?  In the past I've always avoided it, but now I find myself intrigued.

Once you get it to level 10 yes it is an attachment.
