Gotta say that this series just ended weird? It kinda just pettered out at the end.

One of the odd things was when they were showing the quick little bio's of the actual participants/actors I could not place more than %10. The principle actors were easy to spot (Sledge, Snafu, Sledges friend & Lecky) but the others were just so distant for me I felt it was just really odd - I could not connect any of them.

All in all - I can say that I watched it - thats about it. Nothing more and nothing less. I will not be buying the DVD set.

Hi guys - the few that I saw on Ebay were anywhere from 115-130 for 80gb models.

The price includes shipping. I would be willing to go as low as $100 including shipping if that makes any difference?

Just let me know.

BestBuy has the new ones here:

Granted they are the HD models but 16gb for $200? I would think that this is a pretty good deal for $100. Thoughts?

Also here is the Ebay listings that I was referring to:

I think it is totally worth watching. However, a lot of people are disappointed because they compare it to Band of Brothers. It's not meant to be a "sequel" to BOB. BOB was all about the brotherhood of the platoon so it focuses on a small group of guys who you get to know literally from boot camp all the way to the end of the war. The Pacific is really only focused on two, maybe three, guys' individual stories. Other characters come and go which leads to some confusion honestly because it's a bit tricky to keep track of all the people the central characters meet and interact with. Also, BOB was more "heroic" in tone because the European theater was more of a "fight the good fight" kind of thing, so that series was very clear in that regard. In The Pacific, there is more emphasis on the sheer brutality and horror of war, in part due to the highly tenacious nature of the enemy. The Japanese soldiers were trained never to surrender and kill as many American soldiers as possible even in the face of their inevitable death. This has a huge impact on the psychological aspect of the battles to the Marines. Without spoiling anything, there is a lot more portrayal of the struggles with ethics during wartime and how men can act so terribly towards their fellow human beings.

Anyhow, I think The Pacific is excellent. If I had one criticism it's that a lot of the CGI effects look pretty weak, and while I understand the whole tone of the "horrors of war" I  think at times it's very heavy handed.

Exactly how I feel and am glad that someone was able to put it down like that. The European theater had more of the 'romance' of war feeling - they were there because they felt that their cause was just etc etc.

I am watching it every week either 'live' or DVR'd and am enjoying it. Episode 7 certainly did expose the human ethics portion.
I also am finding that every battle that the Marines endured were super long and strung out - very disheartening to say the least. Reminds me of the BoB Bastogne battles.

Red was one of two options - the other was black.

And yes the skin is completely clear - there is no distortion to the screen or unit whatsoever. The skin cover 99.9% of the uniot - the skins are awesome. Really protects from nicks / scratches.

The unit is about 1.5 yrs old if memory serves.
Zunes also have a FM radio built in and wireless sync.

nothing wrong with paying for a multiplayer only title Tongue  I didn't play single player in BC1, BC2, MW2, Halo 3, ODST, Rainbow Six:Vegas 2 and a few others.  It's not like you didn't get more hours of play out of the multiplayer than you will from the single player so I don't know why you're ashamed of not playing it.

you know what - you're right. The single player campaign wasn't anything too original. I may just look to getting it traded in.

Hi all,

I am getting rid of my 80gb Zune (2nd generation) Would there be any interest on this end?

Red 80gb Zune - also has a protective 2 piece skin from that was applied soon after I purchased the Zune. The Zune also spent all its time inside the leather case before the skin application.
Retail Box
Official leather case
USB charging and sync cable (official)
USB charging and docking station (official)

It will not include the earbuds. I like them too much and I am sure that you won't want what was in my ears  Tongue

The unit is flawless in every way. I am only selling it because the Zune marketplace is not available in Canada and I am tired of waiting for it. I am jumping to the Ipod Touch dark side.

I was thinking of a price close to $110 - includes shipping to NA. I have looked on ebay and that is how I came up with the price.

1191  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2 Impressions on: April 27, 2010, 01:18:16 PM
It's odd.

I played the heck out of MW2 (pre map pack) and did not mind the lack of map rotation - not one bit. But now with BBC2 I am awfully bored with the maps. Could be simply because I am primarily a death match player.

I wonder if I did actually tire of the MW2 maps but did not realize it until BBC2 and its slim offering.

I was also thinking about trading it in - but I have yet to complete the campaign. I would hate to think that I dropped $70 on a multiplayer only title  retard

Slightly increased the damage of the AEK971, F2000, AN94, and AUG over long range to balance them with other Assault Rifles.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that they increased my AN-94 baby! Although the honest side of me doesn't understand that at all either. It served me just fine to begin with.

Slightly reduced the rate of fire of the M1911 pistol to balance it with other pistols. - About time on this one too.

Reduced the lethal blast range of the 40mm grenade and M2CG to highlight their role as a secondary weapon against infantry. - How the EFF does this make sense? Reduce lethality on something that needs to be used against soldiers? Um ya. Personally  I think they needed to upgrade the splash damage on the grenades as they are like tossing ping pong balls today.

1194  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [Movie] KickAss - reviews on: April 18, 2010, 03:23:46 PM
Hi all - thought I would start a new topic seeing as the original has moved into debate mode.

Saw the 7pm showing last night and enjoyed the movie overall. It did not 'rock my socks' off like I thought it would after reading some of the reviews out there - looks like I mis managed my own expectations on that front.

Acting was great - good characters etc. Great action. A little slow in parts but overall I am glad that I saw this and also would consider this a full price movie ( I rate them as to full price OR half price Tuesday night).

I loved Hit Girl - her language and violence did not bother me one bit. Hey - I am there to be entertained not be a moral compass (more on that below)
Spoiler for Hiden:
I did not enjoy watching her get beat by the main bad dude - that was something that I was not prepared for.  Something about a grown up beating a child did not sit well with me - but a child killing grownups? not an issue - weird eh

The film was shot in Toronto and Hamilton (yuck) and it was cool to see one of my old stomping grounds from the high school days. Specifically when KickAss is fighting the 3 thugs to protect some other guy outside what appears to be a donut (doughnut) shop. Back in the day that used to be called Dip`N`Sip donuts - that is where we used to play super mario bros after school before heading home. It is at the corner of Kingston Road and Southwood.

Back to the moral compass thing - when I enter the theater there is a group of like 14-15 years olds there - then this guy comes in with his 8-10 yr old kid. WTF! This is a rated R film and people are bringing in their little ones AND the theater does not bother to post someone at the door to ensure that only adults are entering this movie. Wow!

Over all I would give this movie a 4 out of 5 rating. I will buy the DVD so that I can re-live the ending parts again and again.

Thanks for reading - please please please no rants etc.

Blur MP has been a lot of fun, but I'm not 100% sold on picking it up yet. It's utter chaos nearly 90% of the time, which is both fun and incredibly frustrating. I know there are supposed to be a ridiculous amount of maps and lots of other defensive / offensive abilities and power-ups, but I'll wait for word around here to see how it goes over.
