Jesus christ I had no idea that was who you were. I've actually played with you before but had no idea how you knew everyone. Now I know, and GI Joe would be proud of me. After all, that is half the battle. We had a blast, cheating children aside. Yeppers - that be me! Hey wanna try that Shield glitch tonight?

If he were glitching during multiplayer games to gain an unfair advantage, I'd tell him to stop (unlimited air drops, lightweight/air drop, various map glitches.) As Pete said, how is that any different than cheating at sports? Something we'd most likely all agree would piss us off.
Agreed - he is not even close to learning that stuff just yet and I would certainly watch him for this type of 'glitching'. I hated the elevator glitches in COD: WaW - frustrated me to no end. And I made sure that he did not use it.

Ditto for OtterChaos and I'm almost always on the bottom of the score table, I think my k/d is something like .33 so easy points if I'm on the other side.
Exactly my thoughts the other day. I was 'fortunate' enough on Sunday night to have joined the party but there were no spots left on Harks list so I was punted to the other team. I think you and I were both on the 'bad guys' team and we were handed a beating match after match. My KD plummeted from the kelvin scale of .69 to .65 at the end.... It was actually kind of commical to hear our team complain about the kills they were subjected to and we had to reinforce the point that they were not cheating - they were just really really really good. I actually remember a mass exodus of players off the list after once match. Ah good times. But lesson learned - I will never again be on the other team against this crew - too bruising for my online ego Roman

Hopefully they get most if not all of the bugs/glitches fixed within the next few weeks. With the class setup that Harkonis showed me last night, I am not sure I will be able to resist the temptation of using it against the legions of MW2 noobs. That one they really need to fix ASAP. I actually had groups of people running away from me at points last night.
It was hilarious to watch that build in action but I wouldn't have liked to be on the OpFor, I'm surprised some players hung around for multiple matches after seeing that. oh - pray tell what was this? It is almost too juicy not to elaborate. (Purely for research purposes....... )

I have yet to play with everyone here on GT though. One day I need to find a way to get myself invited.
Send me a friend request to: RomyBolognaPony and I will be more than happy to accept and will certainly invite you into the game the next time I am online with the rest of the GT crew.

No harm no foul - I admit that I was trying to sound all 'wordy nerdy' by my choice of words. I like who he is and am happy with how he is being raised. Excellent. Because you can say that with confidence, no one should doubt your parenting. Merci beaucoup! Perhaps your son can show you a few "tricks" to improve your own MW2 rank. Ha! For once I am showing him some of the 'glitches' that I have learned from Hark and Kato! Now who is the master?

I must admit that I did not expect some of the vitriol in a few of the posts either. I posted this out of sheer humour (Canadian spelling) factor. Vitriol? Expressing concern over a son's behavior involving "cheating" in a game (your word, not mine), regardless of whether you were being facetious, and being met with opinions on personal character is not "vitriol." You called your son's behavior "cheating." We responded in kind. Sure he is artificially raising his rank- but he is not hurting / illegally modifying anything or anyone and at the end of the day he is not out to cheat anyone but himself. He knows that it is a game and that there is certainly no gains outside of getting new weapons that will make him a better human etc etc. Come on – get a grip.(sheesh)
He knows the difference between right and wrong as it applies to REAL LIFE but this is a game in which there are no significant gains as mentioned above – infact he is the most sensitive individual when considering other peoples feelings outside of me that I know.
PS – I am leaving out his age – just in case the high and mighty want to jump on me for that too. Rest assured that I was present to ensure that he skipped the airport scene. I did explain what it was and also mentioned that it was not something that he needed to see.
Roman
He's your son, not ours, and you have a far better understanding of his maturation and growth. Raise him as you see fit, and if his actions online are not considered by you to be questionable or in poor form, that's your call. But to equate opinions on character with "vitriol" is a bit thin-skinned. Ultimately you determine where your son stands on character. But your initial example, whether it be in jest or not, certainly isn't an ideal representation. EDIT: That probably sounded harsher than it was intended. I'm not upset about the topic or with your son in general. I merely took your initial post as being serious in intent rather than in jest, and I worry about setting precedents about cheating and dishonesty, regardless of how minor. You know your son and the upbringing he has had, and perhaps disciplining his actions would be a bit much. Mountain out of a molehill and all that. Best of luck trying to catch up to his prestige level. No harm no foul - I admit that I was trying to sound all 'wordy nerdy' by my choice of words. I like who he is and am happy with how he is being raised - I think that thin skin thing holds. I posted something and should have been ready for any and all responses. At the end of the day it was merely a conversation over the interwebs that I will probably not even reflect upon in a weeks time. And - yes you are correct - I will probably never catch him now

hmm interesting replies here to be sure.

While I will let him know that what he is doing is not how the game was designed to be played I will not ban him from playing his Xbox.

If it's taking him 3 minutes to score 500 points, then leave him be. It's taking far longer than it should.
...upwards of 5000pts in the space of 3mins. He is getting points for deflecting 50k + rounds.
. Are you sure the 5000 wasn't just from completing a one-time challenge? I know there's one for absorbing a certain amount with a riot shield, which sounds more likely than a straight 5k every 3 minutes. Yeah, that's what I figured, but if you search for "riot shield boosting" on google, it is very popular and it says you can get 30-50K very quickly. I'm not quite clear - do you just get regular bonuses for deflecting bullets? Apologies - it was only one instance of 5k you are correct. However after that it was a pretty steady climb in terms of increments by the tens every second or so. It did amount to a lot at the end of the day.

I recently discovered that my son is a cheater in MW2 How does he cheat you ask? Well back in COD4 days he would specifically search out other players in cage matches who were only interested in 'head shot' type games so that they could both just stand there and increase their stats. Easy enough to do back in COD4. But I had heard that they eliminated this type of staged 2 player matches in the latest incarnation...... Well he and a friend on Live figured out a way to make their cage matches work and are raking up the points! Example - they are playing a match yesterday and his friend adds the turret to his kill streak and my son dons the riot shield and stands in front of the turret and I watch gobsmacked as the points start rolling in - upwards of 5000pts in the space of 3mins. He is getting points for deflecting 50k + rounds. I am a sad dad today Here he is a level 49 while I am struggling at level 39 or so. Granted - he is a darn good multiplayer. But come on already Roman

Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Trade offer. Windows 7 Ultimate for PS3 games? UPDATED TO ADD SALE PRICE
|
on: November 20, 2009, 04:02:25 PM

Also willing to accept cash now. Looking for $225 via paypal. Any takers? Trade offer. Windows 7 Ultimate for PS3 games? Hi all, I have purchased a PS3 for the family this Christmas and do not have any games yet. I do however have an extra copy of Windows 7 Ultimate that I would be willing to straight trade for 3 (or more) PS3 games. I would like to get my hands on: Uncharted 1 Resistance Fall of Man 1 Demon Souls I am thinking that that is a pretty fair deal and am not out to screw anyone here. 2 of the games can be had for $30 used each. Heck – I would even consider more than just 3 . Lemme know what you have to offer. Anyway – just wanted to pass this offer along and see what I can catch. The Windows 7 is completely legit and came directly from the MS and is the full retail version sealed in all its glory. Thoughts? (cross posted on OO)

very cool. But he never actually rides the bike. Upon second viewing I also noticed that there is no chain - hence the no actual riding part.
Still looks very nice - just wish we could actually see it in practical use.

like MF said above - this is a known issue. In fact - this was a 1st gen issue is memory serves. There were tons of posts over at TeamXbox at the time with many users having circular concentric grooves in their game disks. Something about the disk being unbalanced when spinning - some people also blamed it on the fact that the Xbox was either standing on end or being moved while the disk was spinning? No I am not saying that your situation is similar - just talking a little. Your game disks may end up all being rendered useless sooner or later. http://www.google.ca/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&source=hp&q=xbox360+circular+scratches+on+disk&meta=&btnG=Google+Search yields the folllowing: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25803595http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=485953Wiki: Scratched discs Disc that has been scratched by the Xbox 360 console Almost at the same time the Xbox 360 was released in late 2005, customers began reporting rounded scratches found on discs used in their Xbox 360 consoles. Almost two years later, in February 2007, the website "The Llamma's Adventures" investigated the matter and concluded that some Xbox 360 drives lack a mechanism to secure the disc solidly in place.[35] Tilting or moving consoles with these drives, when operating with a disc spinning inside, can potentially cause damage to the disc, in some cases rendering the disc unusable.[36] The disc can also be scratched by a disc tray not functioning in the right way so that the tray will close the disc in an odd position and scratch one side of the disc. Although this problem is not covered by the warranty,[37] Microsoft's Xbox Disc Replacement Program[38] will replace a limited range of scratched discs that are published in countries where the Xbox was originally sold, for a $20 fee,[39] and released a list of games that qualify for replacement.[40] Halo 3 Limited Edition was replaced at no cost until February 1, 2008 according to the Xbox Disc Replacement Program's main site. Other publishers can be contacted directly for a disc exchange, but it is unclear whether they will replace discs at no cost. Game publisher Electronic Arts details a specific program for this problem which requires the disc and original receipt, also the game must be purchased within 90 days of the request for a replacement disc, or will request a replacement charge of $20 or $25.[41]

I miss the Burger King 'burger bundles'.
They came in 3s and were tiny little burgers in a box. They were fun - I used to order them all the time when I was younger.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [XBLA] Shadow Complex - sound issues?
|
on: September 10, 2009, 12:58:32 PM
|
|
Hi all - I searched the other Shadow Complex thread and cannot find an answer to my question - so here goes.
I noticed last night while playing for the first time an ambient 'waves crashing on the shore' background sound during the entire hour or so that I played. It was not very discernable but was definitely there the entire time - even during the first cut scene with his dad.
Anyone else notice this? Listen carefully - there was a constant repeating waves crashing on the shore on every level.
Am I crazy?
Thanks in advance, Roman

I am liking the new presentation layer - it looks like HalfLife 2 in that it is more 'gritty and detailed' if that makes sense?
Does that make sense?
Looking forward to this one - the hardest part will be waiting with my son as I want this to be on his Xmas list.

I was at FanEXPO this weekend in Toronto and was over at the Sony booth watching 2 guys play the game. This will be a system seller in my mind. I always said that I will get the PS3 once GoW3 comes out - I have no desire to play anything on the platform other than that Mind you - I purchased my PS2 slim for GoW #1. The game looked very nice - great boss battles and animations. Roman
