okay okay I will fall on my sword here and admit that I grossly over generalized a large segment of workers with my grade 6 education analogy. I am sorry. However in hindsight it does apply to this facility  nod

Again - it was very un-Canuckistanian of me to complain like this. It was however very Canuckistanian to apologize.

Rant still stands though - get over your feelings and let us enjoy the BBQ. It is not meant as a snub - merely a team building exercise.

Background - I am the sole member of our 'Social Committee' here in the IT department. We are in the pharmaceutical distribution industry and have warehouses all over Canada. The warehouse attached to this IT facility has decided to unionize last November and are still in negotiations - fine with me and no skin off my balls.

There are 5 BBQs on this site. I sent an email to the HR manager and Distribution Ctr Manager last Friday to see about securing 1-2 for an IT team building BBQ for all 15 of us.

The Dist Mgr responds that he has an issue with the event as it would appear to be IT only and that 'optics' aren't exactly looking good in terms on how the ADULTS in the warehouse would feel about a BBQ that does not involve them.

WTF! icon_evil finger

Am I or any of my cohorts here upset in the least with a union sponsored BBQ notice down in the communal coffee area that will not involve us? No. We could care less.

Thanks to all unions out there for turning an everyday simple exercise into a rolling ball of shit.
Here's a handy hint - stay in school past grade 6 and get an education thereby empowering you to EARN your place in working society rather than demand your place.

Thanks,
Roman

heck I even broke down and bought MW2 again about a month ago. I missed the MP hook.

Did the glitches bother me? Sure they did - but as I said before online I am not nearly good enough for the glitches and other 'exploits' to ruin my day. If I am not happy I simply leave that lobby and join a new one.
Were they frustrating at times (unlimited care package?) sure but you role with it and move on.

My son is very happy that MW2 is back in the house and I enjoy watching him play and am amazed by his skill for only 9yrs old. Heck I remember he joined us 'old guys' once while we were playing on Sub Base and he got the winning kill by by jumping off the railing on some stairs, pulls a 180 degree turn in mid air and nails a guy with akimbo rangers  eek.

Will I buy it. Yes - will I play online - yes. Will I rage quit - no. There are more important things in life to be angry with. Gaming for fun is not one of them.

hi.

i'm sorry you think i'm calling you out.  that wasn't my intent.

i certainly don't know what the used kindle market prices are, and if yours is a good deal
or not.  perhaps its the greatest deal ever.

it just sort of rubbed me as used car salesmanship to say that the new kindle has "minimal" improvements, when i've been reading about an awful lot of kindle 2 owners who are selling them to buy the kindle 3's

Calvin is right. If you are not interested in what he or someone else is selling than don't click the link - plain and simple.
Perhaps Gangeli is the type to inform every consumer he meets either on the street or in the stores that they may not be getting the best deal... but I highly doubt that. Could you imagine if he were to walk up to a potential sale taking place on a used car lot by telling the customers that the salesman is perhaps lying when explaining that they don't need the 2010 model as his 2008 model is just fine. Would gangeli do that? I doubt he would - so what is it about the internet that turns allows these people to act on their passive aggressiveness?

Now I will exit stage left and uphold my feelings posted above as I am not interested in purchasing the kindle.

Thanks for the tips guys. I am sure that it will come in handy.

And yes the unit dropped from my hand to the foot well of a Ford explorer - we were camping and using my touch for tunes and the truck as the speaker. I guess it was like marble - there are weak point throughout and i guess my touch had just that point. I was standing at the passenger side door and whoops it slipped.

No biggie - it still works just fine. ( I use the iPad for movies  icon_biggrin)

I will see what the Apple store can do and for how much.

Finished it this evening and really enjoyed it. Loved the puzzles and even gained a few more grey hairs in the process.  Ending was a little surprising in that I kinda stumbled onto it? Overall very happy.I got 5acheivements on my own and goggled how to get the rest once I finished the game.

I am stuck now because I went after the 'guided by sparks' achievement rather than following the prescribed path and am completely flummoxed  crybaby at the moment. I saw a ladder and just had to get to it.......

The only achievement I've earned so far is the "wrong way" achievement.  And that was simply by dumb luck, walking in a direction while wondering, "Hmmm, I wonder if I go this way instead."  Outside of that, how have you known what to do in order to pursue certain achievements?  Are you looking for guidance online?  I only ask because you mentioned "going after the 'guided by sparks' achievement" and I'm left wondering how you knew what to do and that you were even going after a particular goal.  I found one by accident, but the rest make no sense to me as to what I'm supposed to do or what to look for.   icon_confused

No guidance - just exploration. I like to try and explore everything - got the idea from Locco Rocco back on the PSP.

I got the first achievement in the forest at the start when I was jumping from branch to branch - I noticed a rope up above and thought - hmmm where does that go? And voila I made the jump (took 3 tries) and got 25pts from a branch just above.

The guided by sparks is in the 'factory' (?) level. I think I was about 1/2 way in going up and up when I came to some giant cogs that would change direction after a lever was pulled/pushed. I noticed again that there was a broken ladder above one of the cogs and thought- how can I get there - the cogs are spinning the wrong way..... A few tries of flicking the switch and running and jumping at just the right time when the cog slows down and changes direction and I was away. Made the jump to the next cog and it elevated me to the higher platform and tada hidden achievement. HOWEVER since I made it up that far I continued along without falling back down to the starting point and I proceeded along to an area where I am stuck:( I am now thinking that if I didn't go this way that I would have been in a better place now smile

I am not giving up though.

Can't remember how I got the 3rd achievement.

Agreed with PeteRock's first post above - love this game. Simple, intuitive, fluid, brain teaser, entertaining - they all apply.

Played until about 1am last night because I simply did not want to put it down nor give up on the stage I am on. I have never played a game where physics, timing and inertia play such vital roles.

I am stuck now because I went after the 'guided by sparks' achievement rather than following the prescribed path and am completely flummoxed  crybaby at the moment. I saw a ladder and just had to get to it.......

The only disconcerting thing is that when I decided to finally call it a night I looked at my stats and realized that I was %72 done.  eek Yes I know that the game is short but I was surprised to see how much I had completed. I already know that I will be replaying and looking for even more harder to get to areas and may even try the less than 5 deaths in one sitting achievement (fat chance)

Love this game and am happy that I purchased it. Hope you guys do the same.

1024  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [RANT] F*cking Theives in the office space ** UPDATE ** on: July 19, 2010, 02:21:57 PM
We finally got a nice coffee machine on our site - one of those Keurig units in a commercial size. The company is subsidizing the cost and providing creamers/milk/cups/sugar all for .25c.

Awesome. This idea will only serve to get me to stop going to Tim's on the way in in the morning = cost savings.

Today there is a note down on one of the fridges to the tone of:"someone stole all the bags of creamers. If they are not returned the coffee machine will be removed. you were warned about stealing"

Fucking great! I work in the pharmaceutical distribution business in IT. We have a warehouse attached - the coffee machine is downstairs in the communal kitchen. There are 10 of us in IT - none of us would have stolen it. Sure I am accusing 'them' but come on! Who else would it be?

Unbelievable!  Humans suck huge donkey dick sometimes.

I think he is great and has immense talent and on camera persona and have liked him since first hearing about his audition tape.

The negative side of me never thought he would win if only because we are not ready as a society for someone with a physical challenge like that to be thrust in our faces 1hr a day for 5 days a week. Sad but true.

I see the following happening: he gets to be some sort of regular correspondent on the actual show or perhaps on something like Regis etc etc.  That is something that the public can handle i think.

Thoughts?

Went and saw Grown Ups last night with the famdamily and enjoyed it. Sandler, James, Rock, Spade & Schneider all looked like they were simply having a good time during the filming. Sure its some of the same things from the actors but that's what works for them and the audience.

Tons of one liners little quips here and there.
I got a ' Great Outdoors' feeling from the movie - which is also a classic and not entirely a bad thing.

Salma Hayek - watch out for the scene with her in a bathing suit - WOWZA!  nod
Rob Schneider's blonde daughter http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2576486/ in the movie! My goodness - those legs go on until forever!

If you're looking for a movie to simply smile at and enjoy it for what it is - I don't think you'll be disappointed. The theater laughed out loud at several points.
