New Funcom sponsored TSW site allows you to see your characters and their stats out of game.

Here's a review that sums up why some will like and other will dislike this game.

http://www.pcpowerplay.com.au/2012/07/the-secret-world/

I agree with the review and really enjoy the game.

That said...I'm a Dragon on Grim (though from what I can tell it doesn't matter what dimension) looking for a cabal. My character is named Shoshin and is a fist/blood healer (still working on learning how to heal others efficiently...have no problem keeping me alive).

3  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [PC/360] The Secret World MMOG Announced: I'm Pumped on: July 03, 2012, 04:26:47 PM
You can however team up with anyone regardless of faction. Have a friend who is a Templar and you're a Dragon...no problem. You just can't be in the same cabal (guild).
4  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [PC/360] The Secret World MMOG Announced: I'm Pumped on: June 30, 2012, 04:46:49 PM
I rolled a Dragon on the Grim dimension last night. His name is Framer if anyone would like to team up.
5  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [PC/360] The Secret World MMOG Announced: I'm Pumped on: June 14, 2012, 05:59:27 PM
I have two closed beta buddy keys if anyone is interested. This is the on-going closed beta that is still under NDA and not the occasional weekend beta.

Be warned...this MMO isn't going to be for everyone. The mission system takes a bit to get used to and you have to explore and think your way (Google comes in handy using the in-game browser) through some of them. I typically play west coast evenings if you want to try it out and have someone to answer questions or team with.

Send me a PM if interested.

Edit: Beta keys have been given out. If I get anymore I'll post again.
6  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [PC/360] The Secret World MMOG Announced: I'm Pumped on: May 07, 2012, 08:49:05 PM
From what I've read the pre-order beta weekend information is supposed to go out on Thursday. There have been some closed beta invites released as of today with access to the beta starting tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to this game...any Dragons on here? smile
7  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Borders bookstore going out of business :( (liquidation sales start July 22) on: July 24, 2011, 03:03:44 PM
Went to my local Borders yesterday and most of the books were discounted at 10%. Since most hardcovers were typically marked down at 25% before their liquidation it was hardly a sale. The new George R. R. Martin book was marked at $35 so I ended not buying it since on Amazon it's listed at $18 or so.

I may head back later next week to see if they've started marking down to 40% or higher before I go hog wild with buying any books.

I'd been puttering around a little over on the west coast server but just created a character on Storm. My character is Veleyan a Kindred Assassin.

I just started my 7 day trial and had a dumb question:  Are there any forms of portal travel or recall in Rift?  I haven't seen any tutorial tips about binding or recalling.  The quest hubs and quest areas seem to all be close together, which is good, but some type of bind/recall would cut down on a lot of running.

You will get a quest eventually that will lead you to your capitol city where you will take to a person next to a portal. You can bind to them and use the portal to travel to other portals you find in each area. The two starting areas have the capital portal as well as one other in a major quest hub. Just follow the quests arcs as you really don't need to portal around much until well after level 12. You also get a recall skill that can be used once an hour at some point.
10  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Anyone interested in playing EVE again? on: June 09, 2011, 09:03:59 PM
I just started playing a few weeks back and decided to purchase. Are there any regulars playing these days? I may restart a character since my first one, which I'm still playing, is kind of unfocused. Pretty sure I want to be an explorer/salvager with some missions thrown in as I'm finding these to be the most enjoyable.
11  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Are Asian Americans easily offended? on: December 19, 2010, 12:08:46 AM
As a massage therapist I'm offended...but only a little. smile

Considering that most hair/nail salons and massage spas rely on each other for referrals he probably wouldn't have had to even ask. There's probably business cards or flyers on the wall in the nail salon bulletin board or table next to the door. All this ruckus for nothing....
12  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Fallen Earth launches today on: September 14, 2010, 08:46:15 PM
I also downloaded the trial recently and 5 days into decided I enjoyed it enough to take advantage of the Direct2Drive $6 special. I'm enjoying it and don't find it a grind either.

I get a good chuckle out of people asking if there is a faster way to travel between camps. I find the horse is plenty fast and only use it when I need to go long distances where I can park it at a stable at my destination. I find it easier running around doing quests and gathering crafting mats instead of getting on and off the horse all the time. I just recently got some quests for building my own ATV. Look forward to working on those.

We just started watching Doc Martin and really enjoy it. It's an UK based dramedy about a (from the wiki) brilliant and highly successful London surgeon until he developed a phobia of blood that prevented him conducting operations. After retraining as a GP, he applied for a post in the sleepy Cornish village of Portwenn, where he had spent childhood holidays.

I heard good things and wanted to try and watch season 1 before season 2 started but they didn't play reruns apparently and the DVD doesn't come out until after the premiere...smart.
17  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Champions Online Free weekend 10-30 through November 2nd on: November 03, 2009, 12:10:18 AM
I decided to check it out over the weekend. I had more fun than I thought I would. I started with a martial arts character but then decided to build a version of my favorite CoH character which was fire based. I got my fire guy up to lvl 8 and through the first part of Witchcraft's desert area.

Is there any kind of community at some point in the game? Is there even a regular chat channel? I don't think I saw anything on the general chat channel...actually I did see calls for Ferd team-ups but that was about it.

I listen to several different photography related ones and the only non-photography related would be a couple music ones from KEXP

KEXP Song of the Day
KEXP Music That Matters
KEXP Live Performances

I don't have my Zune with me to list out my photog related ones but if interested can post them later this evening.

Some of your wishes were part of Asheron's Call, which unfortunately was never as popular as it should have been. A very large persistent world that had several wow visuals when out exploring. Player houses and guild hall that were part of the countryside. It would have been really nice to see Turbine update AC and could have with AC2 if Microsoft hadn't insisted it be modeled more off of EQ.

Wow.  That is a cool idea.  I'm not sure I'm up for it but I'll definitely be following your entries.

Thanks...I've made it to day 3 so only 362 more to go smile

I'm sure it will get difficult the further into it I get but I've gotten so nice encouragement from other photographers I tweet with on Twitter and people here and on OO. Knowing that a few people check out my photos will keep me going.

The theme won't be the boots the entire time and I have a few other things I'm working out. It would be easy to just take a picture of something laying around the house and post it but that's not what I'm looking to do. I can always do that as my 'oh crap it's 11:30pm and I haven't taken a picture yet' out but those will hopefully be uncommon.

Day 3 is posted http://unqualifiedtoblog.blogspot.com/ smile
23  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / 1 photo a day project on: January 02, 2009, 04:09:21 AM
For 2009 I've made it my resolution to do the 1 photo a day for 365 days project. To do this I've created a basic blog where I'll post my one photo. The photo will be an unedited, straight from the camera photo. The goal is to learn how to take a good photo and not rely on software to clean it up and to have my camera with me all the time. Some people cheat by using their cell phone camera but I don't have one so it will be my good ol' DSLR used for all my photos.

I'm using some tips from on this blog for my inspiration.

Someone asked me if I had a theme yesterday on Twitter and at the time I didn't. I was just going to wing it but had a thought this morning while getting ready to go out and shoot. The theme will develop the more pictures I take and with luck turn into something more down the road.

Here's my first photo.

If you would like to follow along I will post my photos to my Flickr and my new in rough draft form blog.

If anyone else is doing the 365 project let me know as I'm interested in following along.

The thread I started on OO (I'm wire over there) has tons of links to sites that have helped me with my new photography hobby. The biggest thing for me was learning how ISO, f/stop and shutter speed work and their relationship with each other.

I also found the The Digital Photography Book 1 & 2 by Scott Kelby to be helpful.

Considering it was probably a professional photojournalist who took the picture they probably felt it was better to leave them in than to have to explain why they altered a picture they took.

For me it helps explain the setting and provides leading lines to the center.
26  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone a NAPP member? on: October 29, 2008, 04:46:30 PM
I've been planning on joining NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) for a while now and just never got around to doing it. I noticed in last months Photoshop magazine that they have a Referral Program. If a member refers someone they get 2 months added to their membership with other benefits with the more they refer. Since I want to join I thought I'd put it out there for anyone already a member to PM me and I'll be happy to help get you that referral benefit.

31  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Weeds - Season 4... terrible, or just me? on: August 21, 2008, 09:31:48 PM
We just finished up season 3 and I think my wife enjoyed it but we both agreed that the pacing was really fast and while we're not prudes by any stretch, all the fake tits and dick shots were a little out of place. I'm a little tired of the never ending string of bad things that seem to hit the Botwin family...I think they need to slow down on all that and let things build up.

The U-turn storyline was weird and ended awkward for me.
The whole cross thing was unbelievable.
The Olsen girl was horrible.
The biker gang storyline was completely undeveloped.
Did Kevin Nealon's character have any lines other than spewing curses at people? Although his banjo ditties in the last episode were slightly humerous.

Superbad.

After enjoying Knocked Up and based on the positive reviews on the forum I picked it up.  Fucking awful.  I thought it wasn't funny, it wasn't entertaining, and it was a terrible disappointment after Knocked Up.

It was mostly a fat kid yelling at a skinny kid for two hours.  I didn't find any of the humor to be funny, I couldn't care less about the characters, McLovin' was overrated, and I just kept wondering when it would finally pick up or when the humor would eventually start.  I kept thinking that I must have been missing something based upon how many others thought the film was hysterical.  I couldn't stand it.

Pretty much how my wife and I felt about the movie as well. We both loved Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin, Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared but this movie left us both wondering what all the hype was about.
33  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [Vanguard] How many actually play/make a guild? on: August 08, 2008, 03:39:10 PM
I'm on usually as Teaya, a lvl 14 Paladin. I've been exploring the area to the east of Khal which I don't remember being there when I played the game at release. I could have moved over to the Lomshir Plain and missed the area completely...most likely what I did.

I'm on in the evenings pacific time usually.

So, how many actually play this game right now?

As of right now, there isnt a OO/GT guild, but, seeing how many people seems to play, if we could just get 6 people online at the same time, we can make a guild easily

oh, and remember, join the GT channel by typing /join GT and we can find eachother easily in that channel :-)

I've been playing the last week or so and my free time expires today. Haven't decided if I want to get Station Access so I can play this and EQ2 again. While a GT/OO guild would be cool I'm more inclined to find and join something already established. Everytime a MMO comes out there is the initial OO rush to buy it and create a guild only to have the main people all quit a month later when a new shiny game comes out (I like to call it gaming ADD), leaving the rest of us trying to hold the pieces together.
37  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Wolverine ComicCon Footage on: July 28, 2008, 11:37:32 PM
So Wolverines origins include Humvees and other modern vehicles? Where in his history before X-Men did he encounter Gambit?

I guess we can expect Hollywood is taking some liberties with this storyline. Which isn't a bad thing, just means those of us that have read the comics for years will just have to forget what we've read. smile

Ok just got into the game. Monk on a server starting with a S.

So, is the game done well enough that by just playing through the game you'll pick things up naturally and in the right order?
Or do I need to start pestering people with newbie questions?

If you leave the tutorial tips on and read all of what the various NPC quest givers (including Diplomacy, Harvesting and Tradeskill) tell you it's pretty easy to pick up on how the game works. It is helpful if you've played other fantasy based MMO's before since they are all fairly similar at their core and you just need to learn the unique features of each given game.

I've only come across one issue so far since reloading the game last week...there's a low level quest line for Goblins that is bugged and you can't complete it which I find really irritating.
39  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Roadtrip help! San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver on: July 24, 2008, 08:49:28 PM
Other than the aquarium there isn't much worth spending money on here in Monterey. There are several free places along the coast you can visit instead of spending money to drive 17 Mile Drive for the honor of seeing big expensive houses and a few places where you can see the actual ocean, all while trying to avoid running over old people and little children.

If you swing through Monterey on your way home I'd recommend driving down Hwy 1 through Big Sur back down to SoCal.

If you need any Monterey specific info let me know.

I just got back from a two week visit of Seattle (my wife and I are from there) and will recommend you park the car and just walk. Heavy construction going on around downtown so driving is a nightmare, more so than usual. I believe the downtown buses are still free within the downtown area. As most people mentioned, Pike Place Market is a must visit. I'd recommend picking up a Seattle Weekly and The Stranger and looking through them to get an idea of what may be going on in town. If you want to get some good pictures of Seattle head to West Seattle near Alki Beach and Gas Works Park in the north side of Elliot Bay. There's also Kerry Park up on Queen Anne Hill where you can get a great shot of the Space Needle, downtown and Mount Rainier.

Don't forget you will need your passport if visiting Vancouver.
