Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW Talent Respec'ing

At lvl 35, my warlock only had to pay 1g for the respec, so I 'm very glad I did it. The timing was perfect, because soon after, I picked up my first spell-from-talent, Siphon Life (rank 2). Had I waited, my cost to respec at lvl 38 would have been almost double.
The best advice of course is to not screw up your talents in the first place! If you do, fix it early!

Devil, are you Ok? Don't tell me you're not IN on this one.
This is the third PSP game from my pre-order that I couldn't initially decide on. Based on what I've been reading, I thnk I'm going to be glad I waited. I just need to go pick it up now!

Be careful though, you should know that if you have bought any additional ranks of powers/spells learned from talents, you will lose those too and will have to pay to learn those again. Ok, thank you! This makes perfect sense. Someone was trying to explain this to me in-game and I wasn't really understanding. It sounds like the effort is definitely worth it, at least for my case.

I would like to respec my 35 warlock so I can gain back the 2 or 3 points I wasted in the Affliction tree. I am heavy Affliction now and plan to stay that way, but I want to also go Destruction to round me out to 60...getting back these points would really help.
My question...How much will this cost me? I only plan on doing this once, and I understand that it will cost 1g to unlearn what I have now. Do I then have to pay to re-allocate?

Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW patch today

I originally just wanted to know whether the latest patch changed something major that my 31 warlock needed to be aware of, but MY GOD... how do some of you manage to have any fun with this game?
I LOVE my warlock. She's the most unique character I've played in any RPG. So many different strategies. She can simply rule in a given PvE situation one minute, and then be the cause of getting every freindly ally dead the next. Never boing.
I have just about as much fun with my 22 Druid and 26 Rouge. WoW is just that much fun.

Live Patch Notes Disclaimer: While we make every effort to include all upcoming changes in our patch notes, please be aware that occasionally some changes are unintentionally omitted. Tee hee. Actually not a bad patch, as far as I can tell. Warlocks continue to suck ass, and I guess Hunters are still reeling from their DPS loss, but otherwise it looks good. Enlighten me on how Warlocks continue to suck ass, please. Do you mean in PVP?

I'm finding scoring difficult too. Like the PS2 version, it may just take time to get used to. I stopped playing the PS2 version a while ago, so it's almost like starting over.
Of course, I'd be playing with my PSP a lot more if it wasn't for my WoW addiction. :o

Gretzky is a great game, but out of the box I found it almost unplayable due to the choppy frame rate. I highly suggest lowering the game speed all the way down and switching to the traditional camera. A huge improvement.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / ESPN NHL2K5 Playoffs - (FINAL UPDATE: 5/2)

|
|
Since there's no NHL video game certainty for next season (EA doesn't count), I'd say put your ESPN season on hold. If you burn out now, then you could be facing a crisis come fall when you realize there are no new decent hockey games coming out.
It's too late for me with ESPN. I'm bored to tears with it, and I don't think it has anythng to do with the real life NHL situation (which has me just plain pissed).
Of course, there is Gretzky hockey for the PSP to look forward to.

Here are some suggestions for slider settings. Rather than post them all, I'll include some of the more important ones.
These are geared toward a more simulation style of play, without being hard core. I like a little slower game speed and more realistic hitting. Goalies are less of a brick wall, so playing good defense becomes more important.
Skill: Pro Game Speed: 4 Fighting: 1 Speed burst after fight win: Off Puck Friction: 7 Ice Friction: 1 Goalie Freeze Puck Time: 2
Advanced Game Clock: Accelerated Last Minute Real Time: On ;highly recommended Custom Penalty Length: On Pen Length: 2:00/1:00 ;good for short games
Penalties; these are lowered due to the AI's tendencies to over commit. Slashing: 4 Spearing: 5
Gameplay Goalie: 7 Offense: 8 Defense: 10 Speed Burst Effect: 7 Speed Burst Time: 3 Speed Burst Recovery: 2 Fatigue Effect: 8 Fatigue Recovery: 1 Fatigue Time: Maxed Hitting Power: 2 Shot Accuracy: 7
; Retention and control low create more loose puck situations and players cannot magically strip the puck as easy Puck Retention: 2 Puck Control: 2
; These make the goalie a little less super-human. Garbage goals and writs shots are a little more effective. Goalie Anticipation: 6 Goalie Cover Depth: 11 Goalie Saves: Maxed

Devil - Great news on the upcoming little Devil! You guys are going to have one hell of a family.
So about this season thing. I'd like to sugguest some sliders, which I can post later. The default is not bad, but the goalies need a little tweaking and puck retention/control needs to be lowered.
Fatigue is a bit out of wack and will need to be adjusted if anyone is going to use auto or semi-auto line changes.
And Speed Burst after Fight Win? Turn it OFF!!
I'll post some sliders this evening and we can discuss.

It may be too soon for hockey fans to panic, but what happened to Gretzky? It was listed as a launch title, but now it's not even showing up as a PSP release. Man, I was looking forward to WiFi hockey.

Good games, Devil! And thanks for the info on the x20. It's sweet looking.
Highlight had to be Morris's goal. Puck goes off the goalie's blocker, hits him in the head, goes straight up, comes down on his head, trickles down his back, and....IN!

LD, are you running your xbox through a router? If so, make sure you have UDP port 3074 wide open.
I was getting sync and disconnect problems all the time, and making this change in my router fixed all my problems.
Also, make sure you don't have custom arena music enabled. This has been known to cause online problems as well.

Technically, I'm on Arizona time, which is essentially Mountain Standard. We don't by into that whole daylight savings thing since we get enough sun as it is, so this time of the year we're only 2 hours away from you East Coasters, as opposed to in the summer, when we're on Pacific time and 3 hours away.
10 EST it is.

I'd love to join in on the fun, but I might have 'issues'.
This version of ESPN has always given me sync problems when trying to start an online game. It usually takes three or four tries. Awhile back, there was flurry of posts regarding some problem that had to do with XBOX HD modes being enabled. Apparently this was the cause of some people's sync problems.
I need to check some other things, like my router configuration. I did recently enable MAC filtering, but other games work fine, so I don't know...
I'll sign up tonight and we'll see how things go.

Is it worth buying a PS2 modem to play online? If it's just 1-on-1, I'll pass, but if multiple PS2's can connect for a single game, count me in.

If your lie slopes to the left, you really have to hit right to compensate; the reverse is true.
You can tell how deep you are in the rough by looking at the ball in the lower right. Look at the percentage. It pretty much tells you how much contact you can expect to get with a full swing.
The golfer customizations are awesome. I enjoy that aspect more than the actual golf.

My biggest problem with the game is learning to deal with the shoot button being in the wrong place! And you can't change it. :x
Some other things I've noticed are troubling. Example: Frolov goes in clean on a breakaway (I'm playing D and obviously lost), he makes a beautiful deke and scores...but the goal gets waived off because his skate entered the crease. That is so wrong.
I'm also not sure that the AI can put up a decent challenge. I'm playing on Pro and have seen a couple instances where the CPU will pinch both D-men, making it all too easy to break in clean from center ice. Maybe bumping up the difficulty will fix this.
