On Dragonroost it's the little girl bird that helped you out on your way to fight the dragon, the other one is on the Great Tree island, it's the little deku guy that plays the fiddle.

Hmm, well the little deku makes sense, I forgot all about him. But as far as the little girl bird, I don't recall her even playing any instruments. Bleh, what a lame part of the game, I was doing so well up until this point. Thanks so much for the help though, I always have a guilt trip when I check a strategy guide for help, I feel much better about getting hints from you guys.
4602  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Need Wind Waker help (spoilers) on: January 02, 2007, 03:55:58 AM
Ok so I've hit a wall and am completely clueless. In the game, I've just learned the two sage songs, now I have to find someone to take the sages places, correct? The part I don't understand is how the pictures of the instruments on the rock doors (on the fire and ice islands) are supposed to indicate where I need to go next. In the strat guide it says I'm supposed to go to Dragonroost Isle for one of the replacement sages, but I'm not seeing how you would know that. Can someone help clear this up for me? Either the game got stupid or my brain simply isn't making the connection.

One thing about the games for the Wii, it's a new system. New systems never have the games.

The Dreamcast did!   icon_cool thumbsup

4605  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Any Onimusha fans? on: December 31, 2006, 05:29:59 AM
I always felt like Devil May Cry was what Onimusha should have been, in a way. The controls were way too Resident Evilish for me.

Another question, this one is a spoiler for anyone who hasn't played WW. I just got to the point where Ganondork was fried in his tower, I went to the sage islands and learned the new songs. I have no clue what to do at this point. The red dragon boat talks about a picture of an instrument on a rock door, but I have no idea what rock door he is talking about.

*After edit*

I looked in my strategy guide and it tells me where to go, but it doesn't say how you figure out where to go. I just wanna know what rock door the red boat is talking about!  crybaby

However, a big thing to me is the relative ease of development and cost for DS versus PSP for developers.  PSP games demand production values closer to PS2 level with timelines and budgets to match.

What are you talking about? One of the most positive aspects of the PSP, accoring to what I read early in it's release, is the relatively low production costs and ease of development. I remember lots of excitement over the possibility of independent developers being attracted to the PSP. Has development on the PSP proven otherwise?

It's really disheartening to hear about the Tri-Force hunt at the end of WW, especially because I'm so in love with this game right now. I just reached the Temple of the Gods, and so far the sailing hasn't bothered me at all (I actually like it, gives me a sense that the world is big), and the gameplay, graphics, and world design (particularly the dungeons) has me wondering how the hell I missed this in the first place. Ah well, I have a strategy guide, I'll keep it handy when it gets to the Epic Fetching Quest part.

I'm sure TP is going to be great, I can't wait to play it. There's no way the visuals can top WW's though, there's way too much personality and creativity in WW's cel-shaded world.
4614  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Lost Planet Receives Lukewarm Reviews on: December 30, 2006, 05:47:29 AM
There have been multiple demos for this game, I think most people know what to expect from it anyhow. Still, it sucks to see anything less than stellar reviews coming from a game so highly anticipated. Capcom likes to screw things up occasionally.

Approval from a girlfriend? Pathetic. Sorry, had to point that out, contuing on with the rest of the article...

The way I see it, it was the scalpers themselves who killed the "grey market" so quickly. When I was working at EB, it seemed like almost every person inquiring about a PS3 had intentions of selling it for a marked up price. Hell, that was the goal of half of our staff who had pre-ordered the system. What ended up happening is the actual market for an over-priced PS3 was much smaller than the supply, so some scalpers got lucky, the rest returned the system or kept it for themselves. I don't quite see how this year's sales of the PS3 are relevant in any way though seeing as how Sony can only sell as many as they can supply, and that isn't many.

Oh come on Hetz, you know that is complete bullshit. I was in a GameStop the other day and a dude was returning a PS3 and asking if there were Wii's in stock (I swear I am not making this up). There were plenty of other people in line and I didn't see anyone jump at the chance to buy that PS3. The fanboys and scalpers did their part, now it's time to see how the rest of the market accepts the PS3.

And? No offense intended (and I mean that) but greater capacity, really doesn't mean a lot, especially in the face of what Halo 3 and GoW can do, on that 9.4gb DVD. Like some of the others, I am not convinced the capacity thing is going to be that big of a deal.

And why couldn't developers just put games on multiple discs like they did with the PSX?

Does someone have to go to the gaming store every month or read gaming magazines to be a gamer? I go into the gaming store maybe once a year and I haven't looked at a gaming magazine in probably 6 years. So am I a non-gamer then? I buy maybe 5-10 games a year. I play games online (mostly just PC games) and I do the LAN party thing a couple times a year. Am I a casual gamer then?

Uh... yes. That's why we use the term "gamer" as opposed to someone who enjoys playing video games from time to time. Is someone who reads 5-10 books a year considered a book-worm?

My parents, in their late fifties, are also going to buy a Wii. They have never owned a console. My dad is an avid golfer and loves to bowl. So, eh. Ok, more rarities abound.

So your dad buys a Wii and the handful of golfing and bowling games that come out, now he's a gamer too? Does he plan to start gaming? Does he plan to start hitting up GameStop and pre-ordering games like Mario Galaxy and whatnot, coming online and discussing the latest gaming topics and such? I don't know your dad personally, but I highly doubt it, and that's why I'm sick of people saying the Wii is bringing people into "gaming". The Wii is simply an attractive product to pick up and start messing around with.

In fact Wii Sports has brought my wife into gaming, who refused to play games at all until we got the Wii.

I'm getting tired of the whole "Wii sports has brought X non-gamer into gaming" deal. It's probably going to be a rare case where someone who was introduced to gaming with Wii Sports or any Wii game for that matter will turn into someone who makes multiple runs to the gaming store every month and reads gaming magazines. I practically gave my girlfriend my DS because she liked picking up and playing New Super Mario Bros. once in a while, then she asked for Brain Age when she saw a commercial for it, she did the training for a few weeks and now she just does the sudoku puzzles occasionally. She's not going to start paying attention to the gaming scene now, she's not going to start buying games on her own, so I don't consider her being "into" gaming now. The whole theory of Wii bringing non-gamers into gaming is overstating the situation quite a bit to me, the Wii just makes gaming appear more fun because people are standing up and flailing their arms around as opposed to being molded to a seat.
4633  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xbox 360 - Analysts call sales "Disappointing" on: December 20, 2006, 10:50:37 PM
I agree with the arguement that the 360 sold itself short if anything by delaying a lot of big titles into 2007. However, I tend to think of those delays as a smarter move to counter whatever the PS3 has to offer in 2007. As far as MGS4 goes, I don't think the series is as strong as it was earlier in the PS2's life. Did MGS2 and MGS3 even break 1 million copies sold in the U.S? And as we've seen, Gears of War outsold Final Fantasy 12, so I don't think Halo 3 will have any problem outselling FF13. My only point in this thread is that I feel the heavy guns for MS are being saved for 2007 when they will actually be needed.

Time is referring to the PS3 launch as a failure for 2006. And only time will tell if the PS3 will be a true failure of a product or not. Don't forget about the N64 now.
4636  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Reflections: Was this a good year for you? on: December 19, 2006, 08:36:18 PM
I would say my year has had it's share of ups and downs, but I suppose the majority of it has been good (it's just easier to dwell on the bad). I dunno though, looking at the year it seems like the good and bad are always trying to outweigh eachother.

In the beginning of the year I started dating this girl in what would be my worst relationship yet (it lasted about two months). On the flip side, not long after that relationship I met my current girlfriend who I've been with for nearly 10 months now and can easily say is my best relationship yet.

As far as jobs, I ended up leaving my management position with GameStop when my dad asked me to get into the insurance business and eventually take over his agency. That didn't quite work out, but the good thing is I got a part-time gig with FedEx which pays MORE than my manager position paid, better benefits, and will pay for my tuition. Also, since it's part-time, I can concentrate on school again.

Health-wise, I was definately in better shape earlier in the year. I sort of relaxed on the gym and healthy eating midway into the year so I gained wait and loss definition, however I'm back in the gym daily again and am getting back into the shape I was earlier.

So, all in all I guess the good outweights the bad... I guess *shrug*

even though i have a Wii...whats the story with the online...will there be any online play at all?...i can only connect to the shopping channel and that at the moment..i didnt think online play was actually gonna be a factor with this console, mainly because of ninty's original vision on staying faithful with single player games

Yep, the online mode was actually one of the coolest features of the Wii version of BF3. On top of the "up to 32 players" mode that will most likely be standard on all the platforms, the Wii is supposed to have an exlusive melee arena battle mode. Not too many details on this mode, but considering it's Wii excluse I think we can assume it's going to be an all-out lightsaber/blaster/force power battle to the death which sounds insanely cool to me. On top of that, there are supposed to be a load of Wii exclusive mini games.

If Lucas Arts can get the controls down on top of a good single player campaign and multiplayer mode, and push those Wii graphics to the RE4 level, I think we might have us one of the coolest games in a long time and I would definately buy it over a 360/PS3 version. I love my graphics, but the gameplay potential sounds way too cool.
