881  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Why are there no Warhammer Online Impressions thread? on: September 19, 2008, 10:33:20 PM
Things i've found a little annoying.

Gear not just for class but race as well. Had 2 lovely drops while helping the empire out as a dwarf and it's all empire only stuff, Makes me think i'll head back to dwarf land.

Chat is dead, no one talking pretty much ever, even on a RP server. Plus the chat configuration sucks big time, isn't it about time they got this bit right.

I seem to have hassle identifying class, when i mouse over the portrait i'd like it to put up the name and class,

Finally i seem to get a fair bit of hitching and altdorf is unplayable at times. My system is a tad old but even on the lowest setting it seems as bad as the highest setting. Running e6600, 3 gig ram, gf7900gs. 1440 rez.

WAR still has bugs.  With that being said, it's still a lot of fun, other than a few minor annoyances.

This is why you do not review a MMO at launch, though.

many, many bugs. i keep finding them all over. it's rather annoying since they're the same ones i've submitted numerous reports during the beta. otherwise it's been pretty good. my server is one of the 4 that were capped within a day. Q was quite long on tuesday.

Thing is even with a beta there are probably loads of bugs and it's a matter of priority. Funny though i've got 2 toons an 8 and a 6 and not seen any bugs at all yet and didn't notice any in OB either. One issue is people will want it to be as polished and good as a 3 year + game and it just won't be. Compared to any other recent MMO release its superb.

Since this is becoming the go to thread for war questions, i have one on etiquette.

due to the wanderers choice in servers, i'm planning on making a character on ostermark.  this will be my first real experience with an RP server in an mmorpg (i tried one in wow but quickly abandoned my character after a few days), so i'm not sure how i should behave.  is there a guideline somewhere with suggestions on how to talk, act, etc..?

thanks for any suggestions!

I always find saying stuff like Come hither and look verily on mine sword works fine as a chat up line.  icon_biggrin

Of course i'm a Tank, but this is my first go on a RP server and not really said much, i'm role playing  a mute tank.

But really i see it more as no shouting out soccer scores or chatting about things off topic rather than dressing up and making speeches,  now i just have to get my wife to let me wear my chain mail and sword in the lounge.

Is this available for us europeans or not?
886  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [Warhammer] Euro server + chars on: September 15, 2008, 04:48:54 PM
On Burlok

Likely to try these few before i really pick a main.

Reemul an Ironbreaker
Fail an Archmage
Dakeyras a Bright Wizard
Shannow a Swordmaster
887  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 14, 2008, 03:17:43 PM
Yep i went Hunter as well and it was a mistake. I am going to try a Tank and a Healer to start with. I think with the fact it's  RvR rather than 5v5 or a 5 man group it won't matter half as much, more like the more the merrier.

I'm also likely to try both factions, you know i've never tried Horde in WoW so will change that in WAR.
888  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 14, 2008, 03:05:01 PM
Yeah we need someone to confirm how much  more there is to download. I can't register until after 9am tomorrow and will be at work from 7.00am so no registering until 5pm. Be nice to know how much more to download before i can play. I thought i saw mentioned somewhere at least another 2 gig which includes the intro movie.
889  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer Online headed to Open Beta on 9/7 on: September 14, 2008, 08:08:39 AM
I agree, it does take a play change to appreciate WAR. The healer classes are not just about healing, sure you can just heal but like the Fury in EQ2 you need to be healing, dpsing and buffing to get the most out of your character.

I think Sparhawk was saying that while they were doing the dps they weren't bothering to do the healing bit. It is a one sided mechanic in that if you need to melee or spell to heal you can't just heal while you can just dps. Initally i think you will get a lot of people not using the heal side of the class but just getting stuck in to the dps.

OK got the reward second time, at least i know for full game next week.

I really enjoyed playing an Ironbreaker and Warrior Priest. I will be playing an Ironbreaker to start and if i go chaos will try a DoK. The further you get into the game the better it gets. I love the dwarf starting zone.

Just a bit disappointed in the amount of play time we got in europe on the OB. But it has defintely pushed me into a day 1 purchase.
891  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 13, 2008, 10:10:33 PM
OK Razgon, it was a chocie between a Warrior Priest and an Ironbreaker, so Ironbreaker it will be. I won't get access till Monday as i'm pre order not CE order. I shall be on Monday evening. Gonna be called Reemul, i'll give you a shout.

OK stupid question time, i did the first pq quest and won a white bag, it kept saying open the chest to get the bag but i couldn't find the chest anywhere? Is it supposed to drop by the boss we killed, or somewhere else, in fact i didn't find anything and didn't get my reward frown

It appears in the area of the 3rd phase of the battle.  What side/race were you playing?

Dwarf, and we were well outside the zone as there were only a few of us to kill it so it was a kiting job.

At the moment they have managed one beam right round the circuit. 21st October is when the 2 beams are fired and will collide. So only a month to hit 40/80 in Warhammer  icon_eek
895  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer Online headed to Open Beta on 9/7 on: September 12, 2008, 09:06:17 PM
Yep total madness. 3 days to get into the Open Beta, 2 days played and on the last day they pull the servers down during the afternoon and it's been 8 hours and still can't get in. I really can't see how much GOA have even got out of this open beta and it certainly seems they won't be coping with it next week.
896  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer Online headed to Open Beta on 9/7 on: September 12, 2008, 04:34:57 PM
Well i have my preorder headstart code, it arrived today and it supposed to be from Monday which is good news.
897  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 12, 2008, 04:11:25 PM
Well just got home and my early access code has arrived by email so i can play on Monday.

I haven't played on a RP server before, is it much different from normal then? ANyways i'm happy to go one side on an RP server and the other on a non rp server.
898  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 11, 2008, 09:32:26 PM
Well i have not played as much as i wanted but it is definitely a day one purchase. Biggest problem i will have is what character to play. The first problem is they all need playing to lvl 10 before they start getting good.

I didn't like Shadow Warrior but enjoyed the Magus, Ironbreaker and shaman. But only played to lvl 5+.

I defintely will not rush this, going to enjoy the playing rather than rush to level. I'm also tempted to have a Tank, Priest and DPS. In no other game have a played more than one toon but WAR may just change that, best not let my wife know though.
899  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 10, 2008, 08:19:46 PM
No probs. We just need to make sure we choose the same server for full game. I have pre ordered so hopefully get some access on monday/tuesday next week.
900  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 10, 2008, 05:19:50 PM
OK quick update

On

[EN]Karag Orrud as Order

High Elf - Shadow Warrior
Dwarf - Ironbreaker
Empire - Warrior Priest

[EN]Ellyrion as Destruction

Dark Elf - Witch Elf
Greenskin - Black Orc
Chaos - Maurauder

My main aim to try a few classes to lvl 10 or so if possible so it allows me to make a good choice next week.

So far i'm not enjoying Shadow Warrior too much but not really sure why.
901  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 10, 2008, 05:15:51 PM
Thing is we need us keys and us client rather than eu.

Shame they didn't do it like EQ2 where you can play anywhere.
902  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 10, 2008, 04:01:39 PM
OK im in game now, server is Karag Orrud and im on order to start with. Trying 3 toons Shadow Warrior, Ironbreaker and Warrior Priest. Toons called Reemul, Reemu and Reemule (original i know ;P)
903  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer Online headed to Open Beta on 9/7 on: September 09, 2008, 04:34:09 PM
Well home from work and new account registration is down still. Anyways i managed to find a backdoor link and registered and entered my beta code but no emails at all yet. Looks like it's a wait and see thing.
904  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer Online headed to Open Beta on 9/7 on: September 09, 2008, 06:14:08 AM
My issue is i can't even create an account as it's disabled, i have the client no problem, but no account and even those with accounts can't register there beta keys due to issues. This isn't really good with a week to go.
905  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer Online headed to Open Beta on 9/7 on: September 08, 2008, 09:32:03 PM
Well it seems for the EU they aren't allowing any more accounts to be created until tomorrow at the earliest due to the back log of registering the beta keys. They are also showing that registering your key is unstable atm.

It is frightening that they can't handle an Open Beta 10 days before the full game is due to go live. If mythic aren't careful this game could fail in the EU due to how bad GOA and not on what the game is like or in the future is the support given is as bad as it has been people will happily go back to WoW. In fact i really can't believe they don't realise how important it is to get it right right away as they are already competing with mmo's that have had a chance to get it right.

I realise it's only an open beta, but if we had a month or so to go to release it wouldn't be too bad, but pre orders are getting access on Monday next week so they really haven't got long to get it right.
906  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: SPORE names (for content sharing) on: September 08, 2008, 05:33:48 PM
Yes i agree with this, making small changes to your creature gets him published as a different creature. Slightly different hands or feet and it's a new creature. Maybe you can click on each version and choose if it's published or not, i shall have to try it.
907  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 08, 2008, 04:57:15 PM
Well at least i'm in when i wasn't interested so if i get some play time in before release i will be pleased. I have to admit the idea of weeding out a few classes by trying em early sounds good.

I have to admit i'm pulling the client down from a newsgroup and getting the full bandwidth on my 20 meg line, which is a heck of a lot better than the torrent was getting.
908  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 08, 2008, 04:40:24 PM
Site is up and working but not for people who haven't yet created an account, that is not available yet so i can't register.

Same question here as other topic, anyone know where to download the client from or a torrent link?
909  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer Online headed to Open Beta on 9/7 on: September 08, 2008, 04:35:59 PM
I just got a key, i just got a key woo hoo. LOL, i found a site which had 21 Beta keys left, registered and got 1, how lucky is that. Now i have to go download the client, sounds like i'll be playing by the weekend  Tongue

910  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: SPORE Impressions on: September 07, 2008, 06:17:50 PM
I'm just moving on to the Tribal stage and enjoying it.

It is a shame you just end up min/maxing certain things to get what you need rather than just designing stuff that is pleasing to the eye. I would rather they had just let you earn points you can put on to the body parts rather than having to use a head that has 5 for bite even though you'd prefer a head of 2 but won't use as it makes it harder to progress or even impossible. Multiple arms/legs/eyes really aren't worth it, neither are multiple mouths.

Also is it worth getting all the body parts at stage 2 or moving on with say 75% of them found?

what side are you going to be playing on, Reemul? I need to know, so I can choose the opposite, and smithe you! ;-)

I think Witch-hunter sounds rather fun, actually...the idea behind it, actually, and I'm always reminded of the witch-hunterss from Disciples! Best damn graphic art I've ever seen...eh, sorry for the derail

oh, and btw, Reemul, there's a ton of keys out there - some uk site had 50.000 a few days ago...Fileplay I think its calleD?

I've not really chosen a side or class so am happy to try pretty much anything.

Fileplanet seems to be usa, aus, nz for beta keys, anywhere else has none left. I will keep an eye out but it's only a 11 days till full release.

Aye, it's strange seeing the majority of you not being able to play it while us europeans can.

Now you know what it's like to be us an dit is very frustrating when you know you know the game is sat in the shop warehouse.

I have no idea why there can't be a same day release. In the UK all games come out on a Friday regardless,. Hopefully it means Warhammer which is due on Thursday will be available in store but there is a good chance it won't be as it's not a normal release day.

there's a low level quest line for Goblins that is bugged and you can't complete it which I find really irritating.

I had this, i'm a goblin, i petioned an dit was sorted in about an hour, well worth completing as well.

Gop in to the options and click unlock the ui box and it allows all to be moved the when finished untick it and voila.

Just reading this makes me realise how much sin't in the game that should be an dhow much of it is just basic stuff, like tradeskills working properly, changing your tradeskill, lack of content etc etc. I still find it amazing that the games aren't shipped with what needs to work work.

It makes you realise that while Warhammer is dropping some stuff which would be nice to have in, surely it is better to ensure what is in at least works as intended rahter than having loads of features which need fixing and just annoy people.
920  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: AoC official forum Dev Postings of note on: July 04, 2008, 05:04:47 PM
Well when it boils down to MMO'S and DPS for many it is the holy grail and a difference no matter how small will be a major issue. In fact i can bet if you told everyone on release day that females had a lower dps a massive amount of people wouldn't roll female toons.
