841  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Wireless Router Help on: November 26, 2008, 09:17:17 PM
It is only a few months old but that is a good point, will give that a go.
842  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Wireless Router Help on: November 26, 2008, 07:29:37 PM
Hi,

I am having a problem with a wireless router install.

I setup a D-Link wireless router for my mother in law's laptop. I set it up, connect to it no problem, it find's the network and connects to the internet and works fine for about 2 weeks. Then the connection disappears and it can't find it and says the network is not there.

I go through the process and set it up again and voila it's there.

Today she rang and said it won't connect again, this will be the 4th time.

So is the router broke, not likely, her son can still connect to it with his laptop no problem. He is on XPa nd she on Vista so is it a Vista issue or is her laptop broken?

Would appreciate any advice or thoughts.
843  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: LOTORO Volume 2: Mines of Moria (paid, full-box expansion) on: November 15, 2008, 02:28:56 PM
I was a bit confused about the go live date on this. I saw it for sale yesterday in a Gamestation (UK) and almost bought it. Checked the relase date and saw it wasn't till Tuesday so ordered it onlione cheaper.

Still unusal for it to be for sale already, nowhere did it say the serrvers woudln't be live yet.
844  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: GHWT or Rock Band 2 on: November 10, 2008, 10:11:30 PM
Well RB2 isn't out here yet (UK), i got GHWT and am using the GH2 guitar with it.

Personally i'm really enjoying many of the songs in GHWT and it's way way better than GH3.

Will i be able to use the RB2 drums with it though? If so i will probably go that route.
845  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: October 27, 2008, 08:40:34 PM
I'm away now till Sunday but i just haven't played it at all this last week and  while i love the game i haven't missed playing it at all. ALso there is just far too many new and good games out or coming out. Does my hea din all these games at the same time and then 6 months with bugger all to play.
846  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: October 23, 2008, 06:21:18 PM
Yeah i've had no play time this week so far do to be knackered and working. Next week i am away from Tuesday - Saturday on holiday so won't be playing at all.

Finding a busier guild sounds like a good idea to me
847  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [MMO's] How much do you play? on: October 21, 2008, 09:05:04 PM
Problem i have is getting up at 6am each day for work. Find myself falling asleep after 10pm atm. Also having a son who thinks 6 hours sleep a night is far too much means i feel permanently knackered.

I have also found i lack the inclination to actually play when tired
848  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [MMO's] How much do you play? on: October 21, 2008, 05:56:17 PM
MOn - Thurs 90mins + depending on how tired. Weekends not a lot, more time for family stuff.
849  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: X3: The Terran Conflict on: October 20, 2008, 06:19:59 PM
Well i've done the tutorial which takes about 10 mins then it's like right what now. Still wish there were a few early pointers for new players like, visit here for trade, visit here for warfare even if its only 34 or 5 quests for each to get you set.

I like the mouse controls, much improved, love the graphics as well. I'm just going to wandre in space and see what i can pick up to start with. 1 problem i have is it feels like you need a few hours interrupted to really get into it an di find that hard to find rather than the odd hour here and there, but thats more my fault than the game.
850  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Which MMO is most casual-friendly? on: October 20, 2008, 06:15:44 PM
I did raiding at lvl 70 to emerald halls and found it great fun. There was and is plenty of small 1 hour instances as well as big raids. There is always plenty of loot and drops as well.

I have a 70 fury and had no issue soloing all the way from 1-70, the guild i was in was a wow/eq2 guild and all the eq2 players were at level cap so most of it was solo or pugs and it was fun.

The only reason i nevergot to 80 was my son was born and i pretty much stopped playing and when i went back to playing never really tried eq2 but will probably be tempted with the new expansion due in November.
851  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Which MMO is most casual-friendly? on: October 19, 2008, 12:20:02 PM
Warhammer is defintely best for grouping, i've never had as many invites to groups as i ge tin War, add to this open groups and even if you need a group you can generally get one.

8 for lotro is a bargain, i mean 1 month of play at that price is a bargain.
852  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Which MMO is most casual-friendly? on: October 18, 2008, 09:42:32 PM
Yep plenty of action on the EU servers if thats where you are playing. Also they just upped the xp rate so plenty of low levels playing new toons.

ALso get the eq2 map updater if you try it. Works a bit like the quest helper in wow or warhammer showiong you p[alces of interest and quest locations making it a lot quicker.
853  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Which MMO is most casual-friendly? on: October 18, 2008, 02:51:44 PM
No trial for War atm i'm afraid.

Personally i didn't enjoy LOTRO at all. EQ2 and WoW are the only 2 that have managed to hold my attention for any lengthy of time with EQ2 being my personal favourite.
854  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: X3: The Terran Conflict on: October 18, 2008, 12:14:54 PM
Well i have just picked this up this morning even though i don't have enough time to play Warhammer let alone a space sim.

Anyways according to the forums it is a lot easier to afford a few new ships earlier on in the game and get a few nice bits. Most are saying this is the game that X3 should have been.

I'll let you know when i have played a bit. 17.99 from play.com is not a bad price.
855  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: October 18, 2008, 12:07:54 PM
I'm happy to join a RP guild, just don't want one that lives and breathes role play. Middle ground or less suits me fine.

The other thing for me is is just don't do alts, have enough time doing 1 toon let alone 2 or 3. If i play an alt then i end up playing that instead of my main. I do have a DoK on another server as well but my IB is the one i want to take through to end game.
856  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: October 18, 2008, 06:58:49 AM
Yeah my usual play time atm is between 20.00 and 22.00. Too knackered to play any later.
857  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: October 17, 2008, 08:14:43 PM
OK i have played all week, up to level 17 and only seen someone on the guild once.

the game really works when you have a good guild with lots of activity, we really need to decide if we are going to join a bigger guild or have enough activity to have the guild. My feeling is we don't and won't have enough.

Any thoughts?
858  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [warhammer] more experience! on: October 13, 2008, 06:15:01 PM
Yep i played 3 or 4 scenarios last night with a few guild members and we had no healers, we got nowhere near winning, total waste of time really.

Drop me an invite next time i'm on,
863  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Starcraft 2: The Milking? on: October 11, 2008, 08:18:34 AM
I do love the people that say it's going to cost this or that when no price has been announced.

On the other hand delays have never been an issue in the past but it doesn't mean it's not an issue now.

The one thing that gets me is the amount of stuff people make up or say as if it's fact, until it's out or we get a cost it's hard to actually judge what it means. It could be 3 full  games charged at full price or they could be cheaper, it could be 3 small games at rip off price or even a cheap price. i mean who the hell knows yet.

All i can do atm is judge blizzard on what they have given / done in the past, and so far that has been fine.
864  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [warhammer] Patches, now at 1.01 on: October 05, 2008, 04:41:42 PM
Yep works fine here, no issues with the patch either.
865  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: October 05, 2008, 12:43:59 PM
Sorry mate, i'm hardly going to get any play time this side of xmas, so dropped out, work is getting out of hand atm.

The small time i have had to -play i have been trying a few other toons as well to see.
866  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Sacred 2 - Hmmm? Did it actually come out? on: October 03, 2008, 07:37:55 PM

867  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [Warhammer] a few questions for the vets on: September 29, 2008, 06:50:04 PM
I read a post somewhere on warhammer aliancxe from a dev saying to link items in chat would need a code rewrite so isn't likely.
868  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 28, 2008, 07:59:22 AM
I'm just not getting any playtime at all atm, snowed under at work and son been ill as well. Hopefully get on a bit this week.

Gotta say this RP server we are on says high but seems dead in tier 2 as well.
869  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 27, 2008, 02:33:54 PM
Yep order it is.
870  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 25, 2008, 06:26:23 PM
Soon be hitting lvl 3 for the guild, but we have had some great 6 man runs and most of us are mid teens now, we do need to recruit asap but i think most are still getting a feel for it.
871  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Why are there no Warhammer Online Impressions thread? on: September 23, 2008, 09:54:05 PM
Yeah i play an Ironbreaker, normally i team with a Rune Priest and it's amazing how much of a beating you can take from 4 or 5 players. It did take a while to get a mindset of up there at the front, taunt all the time and just keep em on you letting the dps and healers do their stuff. The only time i find myself dying is whne the healer is going down, then if i need to move in to rescue i will.

These tanks are the toughest little bastards i have ever seen in a game, almost like smashing yourself against a brick wall.
872  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Why are there no Warhammer Online Impressions thread? on: September 23, 2008, 05:02:55 PM
No chance, still 40% on level 2, it's slow going but not been many on.

Added to i can't get in game now, i registered my retail code and got a message successful but logging in i get a failed to authenticate message.
873  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Why are there no Warhammer Online Impressions thread? on: September 23, 2008, 04:12:18 PM
Yeah Magus seems real squishy, i'm a tank specced ironbreaker using sword and board and i love Magus, they are so easy to kill, definitely need a bit of love there.
874  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Why are there no Warhammer Online Impressions thread? on: September 22, 2008, 09:06:34 PM
I have to agree, i think there are too many PQ's, i've passed a few by, seen a few with no one in, i just did PQ5 part 1, kill 125 zombies and i killed just about all of them on my own.
It does seem you can out level them very quickly as well, i've looked back and i'm only lvl 13 and there is one i haven't got and 1 i'm 3/4 done but looking at the reward there doesn't seem to be any reason to go back.

As to lower level, maybe people are playing their first toon through the levels rather than playing many alts. We should see more people in the later levels as levelling gets slower.
875  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: WoW to get...Bejeweled? on: September 21, 2008, 09:09:05 AM
Well the amount of people i see sitting in IF still picking there noses and scratching their arses for hours on end means i'm sure there will be plenty of takers.
876  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Why are there no Warhammer Online Impressions thread? on: September 20, 2008, 02:43:33 PM

877  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: September 20, 2008, 08:40:51 AM
Guild is called High Hopes. Which was a throw away remark about having  High Hopes about someones name. Also t

While forming the guild we helped another group form a guild, they were polish and called their guild Bliski Bum Bandits, i know i know, i almost refused to help make it, but thought it would soon be changed.
878  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Why are there no Warhammer Online Impressions thread? on: September 19, 2008, 10:33:20 PM
Things i've found a little annoying.

Gear not just for class but race as well. Had 2 lovely drops while helping the empire out as a dwarf and it's all empire only stuff, Makes me think i'll head back to dwarf land.

Chat is dead, no one talking pretty much ever, even on a RP server. Plus the chat configuration sucks big time, isn't it about time they got this bit right.

I seem to have hassle identifying class, when i mouse over the portrait i'd like it to put up the name and class,

Finally i seem to get a fair bit of hitching and altdorf is unplayable at times. My system is a tad old but even on the lowest setting it seems as bad as the highest setting. Running e6600, 3 gig ram, gf7900gs. 1440 rez.

WAR still has bugs.  With that being said, it's still a lot of fun, other than a few minor annoyances.

This is why you do not review a MMO at launch, though.

many, many bugs. i keep finding them all over. it's rather annoying since they're the same ones i've submitted numerous reports during the beta. otherwise it's been pretty good. my server is one of the 4 that were capped within a day. Q was quite long on tuesday.

Thing is even with a beta there are probably loads of bugs and it's a matter of priority. Funny though i've got 2 toons an 8 and a 6 and not seen any bugs at all yet and didn't notice any in OB either. One issue is people will want it to be as polished and good as a 3 year + game and it just won't be. Compared to any other recent MMO release its superb.

Since this is becoming the go to thread for war questions, i have one on etiquette.

due to the wanderers choice in servers, i'm planning on making a character on ostermark.  this will be my first real experience with an RP server in an mmorpg (i tried one in wow but quickly abandoned my character after a few days), so i'm not sure how i should behave.  is there a guideline somewhere with suggestions on how to talk, act, etc..?

thanks for any suggestions!

I always find saying stuff like Come hither and look verily on mine sword works fine as a chat up line.  icon_biggrin

Of course i'm a Tank, but this is my first go on a RP server and not really said much, i'm role playing  a mute tank.

But really i see it more as no shouting out soccer scores or chatting about things off topic rather than dressing up and making speeches,  now i just have to get my wife to let me wear my chain mail and sword in the lounge.
