Any news on EU server merges?
804  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: City of Heroes Issue 13: Architect (mission creator; day jobs) on: January 10, 2009, 05:01:04 PM
Ok thanks for that advice. It's not that i don't want to group just i don't get more than an hour so uninterrupted so find it unfair on those i group with. So i have a tendency to play alone and only use groups when i have to.
805  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: City of Heroes Issue 13: Architect (mission creator; day jobs) on: January 10, 2009, 01:33:14 PM
OK i just picked up this for 5 including a free month.

1st question is, Hero or Villian or is pretty much the same.

2nd i will be mostly solo so 1 class from each to play.

Any help appreciated.
806  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: *SHOCKER* Gamestop pisses me off again on: January 05, 2009, 10:43:47 PM
I think on new releases that are second hand you do only save 5.

New 39.99, Trade in 18.00, Second hand selling price 34.99 (29.99 if it's not selling well).

IMO that's not only ripping the gaming business off but the consumer as well. I really don't think the average person equates a second hand sale to no profit for the game maker or publisher and the effect this is having, add to that in a recession any saving is going to look even more attractive, it is certainly not a good thing.

In the UK we don't get any schemes as mentioned above then again we don't get as much shit.

Mostly i wait for new to become cheap.
807  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: *SHOCKER* Gamestop pisses me off again on: January 05, 2009, 10:36:02 PM
Luckily for us in the UK we don't have anything like this at all. We have 2 main Game shops The Game and Gamestation but there is never any pressure to buy used. Also they do specials each week that make new cheaper than second hand so it seems to encourage you to buy new. Example i picked up Fable II for 19.99 new when it was 29.99 second hand.

I was a retail manager for 20 years and there is no way i or any of my teams would ever have done selling in that way. Sure we were under pressure to sell certain high margin items to as many people as possible, but the customer is king and a return customer is a must. Another thing is 1 bad customer always tells there friends and families so normally it's not just 1 person you lose it can be 2 or 3 people.

There are always people who will take plenty of shit, some won't take any the reality is 90% are in the middle ground and from Jblanks post he falls into that category and when you piss them off you have undoubtedly got it wrong.

Personally i won't accept poor service from any business i go into and any that give it don't get a repeat visit from me or if it's a shop i generally need to visit on a regular basis i will make an immediate complaint either to a manager or higher if needed.
808  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Anyone else playing Sacred 2? on: January 05, 2009, 10:13:49 PM
Played a bit more, i'm level 12 now and got my first horse. Certainly is a bit quicker.

One thing i don't like are the escort quests. You click on someone to finish a quest and they are like right take me here an dit's miles from where you are and nowhere near where you want to go. Then if you save and exit or crash(had 1 of each) the quests are failed anyways. There needs to be an option to do the escort or say no not atm.

Is the reward from the main quest line better than the side quests or is it the random drops that are best or no difference at all?

809  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Anyone else playing Sacred 2? on: January 04, 2009, 05:47:58 PM
When completed do you then move to Hardcore or do other levels open up.

Also seems like you played it very linear, i think i have done pretty much all the local side quests in the first zone and am level 8, not even really touched the main quest line.

I'm not sure on my SW build. Is blacksmith, Alchemy or Riding even worth taking?

When can you get your mount?
810  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Gaming resolutions? on: January 03, 2009, 02:51:37 PM

Quote from: Canuck on January 02, 2009, 01:11:58 PM

Sure there's always lots of talk about New Years Resolutions but people to talk about their New Year's Gaming resolutions (I wonder why?) much.  So I thought what the heck.

Mine are twofold:

1) Finish more games than I did last year (4)
2)And to accomplish #1, I'm going to try to concentrate on one game at a time.  I know some of you like to keep your plate full but unfortunately I'm just not able to do that.  I get into games for an hour and then I get distracted by another game and then with 3 or 4 games on the go it  all seems like too much work and I never finish any of them.  So I'm gonna try to keep it simple this year.

How bout you guys? Got a particular game that you've never  been able to get around to or don't spend as much time gaming as you would like (or spend too much time gaming?)

This is me to a tee. I just can't get stuck into 1 game without another looking better and doing an hour at each one.

At the moment i am doing The Witcher but Sacred 2 is already intruding. I'm a bit into Dead Space, Fallout 3, PoP and FM2009 and have Mass Effect, X3 TC and Planescape + all mods waiting to go.

Add to that i love mmo's and have Lotro and WOTLK available

I have a xbox360 with Midnight Club LA, Burnout Paradise, Fable II, Last Remnant, Lost Odyssey and Infinite Undiscovery ready as well i think i may be doomed.

Also maybe buying a few less games as well.

Well i totally disagree. Impressions thread for impressions, hints, tips and advice threads for those things.

I don't want to read through impressions threads full of hints tips and gaming advice, really i want impressions of the game.

813  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Anyone else playing Sacred 2? on: January 01, 2009, 11:29:20 AM
Well my copy arrived, installed it and patched to 2.34 no problem. I just didn't start the game until after it was totally patched. Probably easier that i hadn't played it at all then tried to patch it.

Be interesting to see how the next patch works.
814  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Rockband in Europe (cry more Noob) on: December 31, 2008, 03:50:57 PM
It's a rip, you can get the Drums for Rb1 for 79 no Game. The game is 39.99(RB1). RB2 is 44.99 and 130 for the full set.

I have GH guitar and want RB2 with the Drums but you can't do just that.

All in all it's too bloody expensive and even 2nd hand is only 10 off the full set.

Total rip off atm.

Wait till March as the recession bits bound to be some dcent reductions by then.

818  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Age of Conan - I'm back baby on: December 27, 2008, 12:09:00 AM
Another thing i find is when i drop back into LOTRO, AoC or WoW etc i am no longer in a guild and to be honest most of the games work much much better in a guild. Normally i don't really play enough to apply to guilds yet if i had a guild i may play more.

Anyways keep us updated about AoC as i have a level 20ish toon i may be tempted to play with.
819  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Age of Conan - I'm back baby on: December 26, 2008, 08:41:31 PM

Quote from: Razgon on December 26, 2008, 07:29:41 PM

So, decided to resub Age of Conan this christmas, since I had some spare time, and was a bit bored with all the niceness in LOTOR and the bugginess of WAR.

And, I cant for the life of me understand why I ever quit - the game is sooo beautiful, and the first 20 levels are sooo damn fun - took 2 characters through Tortage, a Conquerer and a Necromancer, and had a ton of fun!

The game itself runs beautifully now, Funcom having optimized the game engine quite a lot, and there's a lot of newly added content as well, not the least of which is the PVP Notoriorty system, which punishes gankers. Also, I'll have to dig this one up, but come january server mergers will occur, and a new big content patch will arrive as well.

All in all, the game is great, I'm having a ton of fun, and the gritty, dirty world of Conan (With Nekkid Boobbbiiiiess) is so much more fun than the clean LOTRO to me right now

Aye but you say that about all of em  icon_biggrin

Personally i feel the same, each one when going bak to it seems great for a week or 2 and then the rot sets in. I really really want a new MMO to play, LOTRO, AoC, TR, EVE, WoW etc just don't scratch the itch for long enough yet there isn't anything else out there. What i am looking for is something that made me feel like WoW did on release month or EQ2 when i first tried that but there just isn't anything that really manages it atm.

I am actually using it as a chance to play some single player games. Got Dead Space, Fallout 3, Football Manager 09, GTA IV and POP.

825  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: LOTRO or Warhammer on: December 01, 2008, 08:22:41 PM
Well i stopped playing Warhammer, i subbed for 1 month then quit, whatever it is i'm looking for in an mmo wasn't there.

Anyways i got Lotro a while back and managed to screw up my subscription and pay for 6 months twice, they offered me a refund but i never got round to sorting it out. The add on came out and i picked up knowing i had a subscription for it. Anways i have a 16 champion and a 24 Hunter and i am enjoying it a lot, oinly thing is i'm also playing Wotlk as well so really not getting far in either.

I have to admit to being a bit shallow when it comes ot MMO's, i love quests, i also love new gear, whether it's a new sword or whatever, those things keep me happy and playing.

All in all there isn't much in it between any of the mmo's, it's a matter of what it iches and WoW does it mainly for me, EQ2 did for a long time but i tried it again recently and there was nothing there, LOTRO also works and Warhammer didn't.

I have 2 Buddy Keys for LOTRO for the EURO version if anyone wants to try it, i assume you can download the client online?
826  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New Last Remnant details and screens on: November 29, 2008, 09:52:20 PM
Yeah the takeover was challenged but cleared. Apparently there is plenty of different shops to buy games in the UK. Shame the only 2 specialist Gaming stores in the UK are now owned by the same company.
827  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New Last Remnant details and screens on: November 29, 2008, 07:32:36 PM
There are 2 computer game shops in the town where i live.

You have The Game and Gamestation. NOw both are now owned by the same company. Recently i have noticed they have been doing a few little tricks. LAst weeks deal of the week was Fable at 29.99 and was only available at The Game and out of stock at Gamestation.

This week i went in The Game to see about Last Remanant and they had none on sale anywhere, immediately i thought bet it's on offer in Gamestation, popped down there and there it was 24.99 and was that price today when i popped in again.

Gamestation also had Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise and Ninja Gaiden for 30 for both so picked them up too, yet Trouble in Paradise was 30 on it's own in Game.

Only noticable thing is overall there is less on offer it used ot be both had offes running now it's normally only 1 or the other or just 1 or 2 games each on offer. Gamestation does seem noticably cheaper on used games. Also Fable 2 is 19.99 online at Gamestation which is another good price.
828  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New Last Remnant details and screens on: November 29, 2008, 01:44:56 PM
I picked this up cheap a few days ago. Surprised it was reduced so quickly as it's only been out 10 days. Still 39.99 down to 24.99 isn't a bad deal for  game i almost got at full price.

Installing it makes a big difference to performance as well. Not had much chance to play it though as there is just so much good stuff to play i find myself playing too many games for a short space rather than just 1 at a time.

830  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Wireless Router Help on: November 26, 2008, 07:29:37 PM
Hi,

I am having a problem with a wireless router install.

I setup a D-Link wireless router for my mother in law's laptop. I set it up, connect to it no problem, it find's the network and connects to the internet and works fine for about 2 weeks. Then the connection disappears and it can't find it and says the network is not there.

I go through the process and set it up again and voila it's there.

Today she rang and said it won't connect again, this will be the 4th time.

So is the router broke, not likely, her son can still connect to it with his laptop no problem. He is on XPa nd she on Vista so is it a Vista issue or is her laptop broken?

Would appreciate any advice or thoughts.
831  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: LOTORO Volume 2: Mines of Moria (paid, full-box expansion) on: November 15, 2008, 02:28:56 PM
I was a bit confused about the go live date on this. I saw it for sale yesterday in a Gamestation (UK) and almost bought it. Checked the relase date and saw it wasn't till Tuesday so ordered it onlione cheaper.

Still unusal for it to be for sale already, nowhere did it say the serrvers woudln't be live yet.
832  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: GHWT or Rock Band 2 on: November 10, 2008, 10:11:30 PM
Well RB2 isn't out here yet (UK), i got GHWT and am using the GH2 guitar with it.

Personally i'm really enjoying many of the songs in GHWT and it's way way better than GH3.

Will i be able to use the RB2 drums with it though? If so i will probably go that route.
833  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: October 27, 2008, 08:40:34 PM
I'm away now till Sunday but i just haven't played it at all this last week and  while i love the game i haven't missed playing it at all. ALso there is just far too many new and good games out or coming out. Does my hea din all these games at the same time and then 6 months with bugger all to play.
834  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer - Euro stuff (Euro guild as well) on: October 23, 2008, 06:21:18 PM
Yeah i've had no play time this week so far do to be knackered and working. Next week i am away from Tuesday - Saturday on holiday so won't be playing at all.

Finding a busier guild sounds like a good idea to me
835  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [MMO's] How much do you play? on: October 21, 2008, 09:05:04 PM
Problem i have is getting up at 6am each day for work. Find myself falling asleep after 10pm atm. Also having a son who thinks 6 hours sleep a night is far too much means i feel permanently knackered.

I have also found i lack the inclination to actually play when tired
836  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [MMO's] How much do you play? on: October 21, 2008, 05:56:17 PM
MOn - Thurs 90mins + depending on how tired. Weekends not a lot, more time for family stuff.
837  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: X3: The Terran Conflict on: October 20, 2008, 06:19:59 PM
Well i've done the tutorial which takes about 10 mins then it's like right what now. Still wish there were a few early pointers for new players like, visit here for trade, visit here for warfare even if its only 34 or 5 quests for each to get you set.

I like the mouse controls, much improved, love the graphics as well. I'm just going to wandre in space and see what i can pick up to start with. 1 problem i have is it feels like you need a few hours interrupted to really get into it an di find that hard to find rather than the odd hour here and there, but thats more my fault than the game.
838  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Which MMO is most casual-friendly? on: October 20, 2008, 06:15:44 PM
I did raiding at lvl 70 to emerald halls and found it great fun. There was and is plenty of small 1 hour instances as well as big raids. There is always plenty of loot and drops as well.

I have a 70 fury and had no issue soloing all the way from 1-70, the guild i was in was a wow/eq2 guild and all the eq2 players were at level cap so most of it was solo or pugs and it was fun.

The only reason i nevergot to 80 was my son was born and i pretty much stopped playing and when i went back to playing never really tried eq2 but will probably be tempted with the new expansion due in November.
839  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Which MMO is most casual-friendly? on: October 19, 2008, 12:20:02 PM
Warhammer is defintely best for grouping, i've never had as many invites to groups as i ge tin War, add to this open groups and even if you need a group you can generally get one.

8 for lotro is a bargain, i mean 1 month of play at that price is a bargain.
840  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Which MMO is most casual-friendly? on: October 18, 2008, 09:42:32 PM
Yep plenty of action on the EU servers if thats where you are playing. Also they just upped the xp rate so plenty of low levels playing new toons.

ALso get the eq2 map updater if you try it. Works a bit like the quest helper in wow or warhammer showiong you p[alces of interest and quest locations making it a lot quicker.
