I have wondered whether having a dedicated craft for salvaging is worth it.

Is something i will look at this weekend but not sure if i can support any more guns.

As to Cap i haven't managed to get anywhere near running out but it's probably just a difference in the type sp's. That is also with the Ab going pretty much as and when along with the repairer as well.

One thing with EvE is there is such a multitude of builds, skill sets etc that things can be so different from player to player really it  makes it hard to have builds that work for everyone and it's more a matter of try it and see.

I also fly a harbinger, i have 7 mill sp's so not totally new but nothing special. I have focused on Gunnery though and have nearly 3 mill sp's in it.

First the Harbinger has Zero Missile hardpoints so they are out.

I only use 6 lasers. The other 2 are a Tractor Beam and a Salvager.

I was using heavy modal pulse lasers with a mix of far and close charges. This seemed to work ok but once i had trained for tech II lasers i did a bit more research.

The first thing i changed was having all 6 at the same distance. After some experimentation i chose Amarr Navy Multifrequency charges with Focused Beam Lasers II. These have a distance cover of 8km-14km with the Navy Charges.

I was originally doing out towards 30km distance for damage and tbh half the time i would still get too close to the multiples and find it was a struggle.

Also what i did was fit 3 Heat Sink II's to really up the damage.

I am 23 hours from completing Drones V and will then follow that with Scout Drones to V. This will allow tech II drones and 5 of them in space as i'm getting in close to the action.

I have also fitted my ship with additonal armor so am really tanking the damage rather than using shields.

So really it's get in close, high damage, lots of armor to take the hits and have 5 decent drones in their as well for additional damage. Take them down quick but still plenty of armor there if needed.

Fit is this

Low Slots

Medium Armor Repairer II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
800mm Reinforced rolled tungsten plates I
800mm Reinforced rolled tungsten plates I

Medium Slots

10mn Afterburner II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction (Unsure on this slot still but seems to be ok atm)

High Slot

Focused Medium Beam Laser II x 6 + Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Charges
Salvager 1
Small Tractor Beam

So far it walks level 2 missions and had no problem at all in level 3 yet. Obviously it will change as i get more skills but as a straight PvE mission runner it seems to work great.

It should be possible to take out the Tech II and swap it for Tech I and you still won't have any issues with level 2 missions.

Respec doesn't work like that. No att can be higher than 30.

Also there are no implants higher than +5.

Click on the repsec button and it will let you play around with it and just press cancel and you come back out and don't use it.

When you look at it it will make more sense

With enough warning on mining ops i can fly support, flying a Battlecruiser (harbringer) at the moment but can also fly a Maller well as well. I can also use medium scout drones  so can bring some firepower along, just need a bit of notice on times so i can confirm with her in doors that i am free.

Yeah, but the crystals don't expire, once you have a few of each it's fine. The normal ones aren't expensive either.

Best to focus on things we can make big savings on.

Not using missiles atm on my BS and i use Energy turrets so no ammo need either.

Another thing worth noting is the use of Salvagers.

I did the 10 tutorial mission for fighters and from those missions i earnt 3mill isk in salvaging.

The salvaging skill costs 900,000 isk. If anyone needs some isk upfront for this skill im more than happy to give it as it pays back in spades if you do killing rather than mining. The skill doesn't take long to learn either.

Saying that i do have a thing for figures and maths as well, so accountant would be fine for me.

I will be on for most of the day today, i've come down with the flu so not going on a family day out. Got peace and quiet and EvE instead.

I also forgot the server shut down is the worst time for EU peeps, 11am for an hour for me.

I have chosen to do all tutorial missions as well. So am happy  to help anyone out.

I still can't leave Amaar space it says the warp gates are closed to traffic and find another route. Is this normal or a bug or is it i to do with the patch?

Well i'm having a nightmare. Seems Amaar space is overloaded and i can't leave, no one can. So stuck in space atm, give it a go tomorrow see if they have fixed it.

OK i'm in.

Reemul (nothing but original) Race Amarr, i have a Harbringer Battlecruiser at the moment. I have 6.2 mill skill points and 5.4mill isk.

Only inital issue is for full insurance on my ship i need 12mill isk.

Looks like i have a Punisher Frigate a few jumps away, hopefully it is equipped and i can use it for a while.

I think i'm Amarr. Been a year since i played so not really sure.

I will use this one, i didn't make too many stupid mistakes and he flys a nice Battleship and i have enough skills to hold my own.

Saying that i may just try a new one anyways and see what happens.

I can't agree here :O)

Each type of game that is very successful follows similar formulas in what they need to work. This doesn't guarantee success but it means you are building from a solid foundation. This doesn't mean you can't be innovative but it sure means you need to capture the main points from the off.

Things like a solid game engine, in a sports Sim it's real names and players that play and look like the real thing. In an MMO's it's setting and the rewards you offer, be it loot, zones, skills. The format or way you offer them can differ in so many ways but if the (insert answer here) you control doesn't have that magic ingredient it just doesn't work.

For MMO'S there are some that want a transition into a new style of game and not the rinse and repeat of the present crop of MMO. AoC could have been that, however  IMO (this is my feelings :O)) you still need to take some of the best and most intrinsic parts of MMO gameplay and do them well in your game unless you really have another great alternative. The reality of just ignoring it or saying in our view it isn't about this won't wash. The player base need to follow your view of what it is they are playing and seemingly wearing the same gear, looking the same and not having that special look or item is not the way a large number of the player base see things. Personally i don't find that a surprise I'm just surprised AoC made that mistake.

Many people want lots of things from lots of games but there is no doubt there are a few common denominators in there the majority want and you need to ensure you are giving them this on top of the new experience.

Of course that doesn't mean people shouldn't think out of the box or tr things radically different, however i don't feel saying we didn't envision a different look or  better weapon stats as part of our game so we didn't bother as actually innovative or a step in the right direction.

I started on Silver and haven't found it too hard. Bronze is srewed on loot drops as wel, not enough drops. Go for silver.

They are only a minor player.  It's nice to see, at least, they are still willing to allocate resources to keeping the small pop they have happy and improving the game however slowly that might be happening.

I can't agree, for many the drive of levelling and finding new gear and looks is all part of the experience and remove one of them and the game just doesn't work for them. From the off some of gear and equipment is just pathetic in it's description and added bonuses, also the looks were so similar it was really a case of wth. Hence so many people calling for better stuff and looks.

With anything new you really can't afford to get the basics wrong and AoC did and there really is no excuse for it.

The first area is pretty good but it just isn't representative of the game as a whole. Maybe they should have made a single player game in the same vein instead.

It's a bit like getting the new girlfriend home and stripping her off and finding out she is a ladyboy with a push up bra. Sure the excitement built on the ride home but hell, no way am i gonna go there again when i see what it is even if he is now a she next time we meet slywink

I really struggle to understand why this sort of stuff wasn't in at the start. Diversity is what you need and a year down the line it is probably too late if you actually what to be anything except a minor player.
