Yeah I don't play these games to 100%. Batman 2 we did about 75% and that's fine for me, ignore the stauff that is a pain and move on. However I agree the actual premise of the games is amazing but it does need something new, maybe the next gen will help with that.

I know this is a conversation for another thread but this is just one of the many reasons I hate/fear the move to all digital.

This has nothing to do with what's going on right now. The digital copies will continue to exist for all foreseeable future. The only difference is that they can't sell the games any more. If you own them digitally, they're still yours and you can download and reinstall them as often as you like. Retail is no different. Expect these Marvel games to have a mass recall from stores in the coming days. You can still play your retail discs, but you can't buy new ones.

You're hating/fearing the wrong thing.

The only difference is it is possible to pick them up second hand even if you have to pay a premium, can't do that with digital sales. Still I won't lose any sleep over not buying specific games, I mean there are thousands more to choose from.

The special events, you get 120k for winning the first one and for the ones you can get bronze on you also win cars so do as many as you can, I got an M4 from one of those, they are only there for a while, also go to Gt Vision section and see if the Merc GT is still free it's worth a million credits

Just got my class b(?) license. Last GT game I played was GT4.

I like it, but not as much as Forza 4 or 5. Where are the cars I want, namely musclecars? Are they still locked, or are they never showing up? I mean, there are some, but not many compared to Forza. Forza even has my Scion IQ (Aston Martin Cygnet) but with right-hand drive.

And what's with no test drives before buying? And the "loaner" car choices are slim.

ehh, must have updated cause now i have a bunch more cars to pick from  icon_confused

Well there is 1200 cars, as a European Muscle cars are not my thing, prefer ricer style jap cars or european sports cars

While I still don't have much time to play I am really enjoying it. Just got all 90 stars on the national 1b category. Found the kart racing the hardest and had to change gear ratios to win 2 of the races.

Money seems to be no issue. I have 9 cars now but nothing super sporty. Car I enjoyed driving the most was an MX-5 in race spec, handled lovely and seemed very nippy.

I think Forza 6 should well be an amazing game, get the track and car numbers correct and it should blow the system away, of course maybe DLC could add the missing stuff and a GOTY version would be the one to pick up in 18 months.

hopefully they make another Horizon in the meantime.

Yeah definitely, really like horizons.

Welll I got to play Forza 5 in my local Game shop today. And I was really impressed. the graphics looked great and so did the course I played, it was the snowy one.

The cars handled well and the controller with trigger rumble was superb, would love one of those for PC use but not at 70 (not sure if they are compatible yet either)

Can you set the racing line to show braking-only?  That was my preferred setting in Forza since I felt it helped compensate for the lack of depth perception making it hard to judge braking points.

Nope, which is also a pain, I liked that setting to learn the tracks rather than having the full line on. to be fair teh driving is good enough that you should be able to get rid of it once you know the tracks

I've been in the Forza club for a while and haven't played a GT game since the days of yore--in this one do you need to earn licenses by doing various maneuvers well enough, or has the series done away with that? Does GT have something like a racing line or braking line like Forza does?

you have licenses to do but they have been toned down so they aren't too hard to get bronze on.

There is a racing line etc, the only thing it doesn't have is auto braking which is fine except for my kids who cant do it that well, but they use the wheel and I do the pedals which seems to work well.

I eventually got a new car but it wasn't that much of an upgrade since I didn't have much money.   After I completed the amateur circuit it did open up new events with different cars that are specific to that event so even though you can't afford them you do get to race other cars.

I have noticed some sound problems especially the engine.  I need to hear it so I can change gears and when it cuts out it's annoying.

There is no denying teh sound is appalling. There is no excuse in this day and age for the quality of it. Luckily I normally play with the sound off.

After 4 hours I was able to start playing.

I have a CSR Elite Wheel and it works/feels perfect, you can really feel the differences between the cars. I started playing in Cockpit view and the sense of speed wasn't there, of course you do start off with slow cars so it could just be that, but when I switched to the hood or road camera it did seem to be faster.

I'm playing on a PC monitor at 1080P and it's not as sharp as a PC race game but it isn't that bad. I have noticed a couple of road textures that aren't sharp before the race and some of the cockpits aren't hi-def but overall it looks great. I haven't noticed any screen tearing which I read on other forums. There are some jagged and flickering edges from time to time, but it hasn't been distracting. The replays look good.

The single player campaign is fun they mix things up with different events like hitting cones and other challenges that aren't just races so it make things interesting. They do force you to pick your first car from a selection of 1, I didn't like that. I don't think I've opened up multi-player yet but hopefully I'll get a chance tonight. The AI isn't fantastic, but they have given me a little challenge on some races but there isn't a way to increase the difficulty during the campaign just the arcade mode.

I was really worried about the loading times because of GT5 and I almost bought an SSD but with a normal hard drive they are minimal maybe 5-10 seconds, which is awesome. I hate the loading times on Forza 5, plus my wheel isn't compatible, that's another discussion.

I've completed about 25 races and I've liked all the tracks so far, each one feels different and has their own challenges. The races occur at different times of day and some of the effects look great, racing at dusk is awesome.

Overall I'm having a blast and the initial impression is so much better than GT5. I like the looks of the menu's and they are quick and easy to navigate.

Don't forget to change your oil when you get a new car.

Great write up, I agree with the choice of 1 to start. Did you trade up quickly or upgrade it?

I have a GT Driving Force wheel and cannot find the pedals, bloody annoying.

I came across a bug, I like to use the triggers to accelerate and break so set it up and on the 5th race on the final lap the controls just stopped working and reverted to default causing me to lose the race. NOt sure what is going on there, really need to find my pedals though.

Still zero damage modeling, poor sound, no change in the AI. But the usual tons of cars...sorry I don't see how people keep giving the series a pass based on memories of when they played GT1 or 2. This just isn't acceptable from what's supposed to be a AAA racer in 2013.

It's no issue for me, i play with no sound on in all my games and always turn damage off so those 2 are no problem for me. AI is too early to tell but i've yet to play a game where the Ai was anything but average, hence the popularity of multiplayer.

I have done 6 or 7 races, it looks amazing and the cars seem to drive superbly. The bits that really matter, like lots of cars, tracks and the way it drives is superb.

Maybe if I could put some go faster stripes on it as well it would be even better slywink

Lots of reviews out now.

Lots of good and the usual GT bad.

Looks great, great frame rate, loads of tracks, courses, night and day rain driving etc.

Damage still sucks, sound is crappy still, ai still isnt great.

Eurogamer seems to sum the good and bad. The good works for me and not bothered by the bad.

Off to get this later, will let you know thoughts.

well... if you are on a budget and are not interested in the other stuff, I would say it is not foolish.

On the contrary, it's when you're on a budget that PS+ gives the best value. There are new free games available to you every month, and you get access to lower prices on a lot of stuff as well.
on the contrary... if not interested in the other stuff it would be foolish to pay for it.

thanks again for the quick answer on the requirement for multiplayer.

Obviously if you aren't in to any of the game supplied then yeah don't bother. However you do get to have access to all since you join so been there for a year and you have all of them available an dunlike MS they arent putting up a pile of shite.

Really it seems you have an issue with paying for Multi, which is fine but PSN+ in itself is a massive bargain. If you want free multiplayer then PC will be the only way to go in the future.

This game finally clicked for me last night. I went from 9th and 10th place finishes (at best) to finishing gold in 6 of 15 races. Glad I stuck it out because I went from general disinterest in the game to being hooked. It feels really challenging on a technical skill level which is really fun.

I'm also really starting to appreciate the Drivatar system. In one race last night I was fighting for first when the guy ahead of me made a critical mistake and sideswiped a wall. I took advantage, passed him, and eked out a win. I don't think you'd ever see that with traditional AI.

I agree.  The game is certainly rewarding when you stick with it.  I've been getting Gold & Silver in my 2013 Focus ST consistently

It seems career mode is crap, no reward cars, not much of a mode and poor rewards. It looks like you need to buy everything which really will turn in to a grind. With Micro transactions and loads of dlc it seems thew ay to get what you need is to pay more for it.

For me half the fun is winning stuff i didn't expect and getting to try lots of cars out on the different tracks.

Forza is a superb series but this has been rushed out because of Xbox One. It needed another year to do it properly, xmas release next year would have made it a must buy and maybe the console too.

The question i ask myself what would I gain from buying F5 (which will work out at 500) which has less cars, less tracks and an even worse career mode than Forza 4 and the answer seems to be better graphics which was always going to be a worry. Playing F4 last night didnt make me think i need better graphics, really concentration is on the driving line etc, i only notice how good it looks while watching my son drive.

Gran Turismo 6 could be my new goto racing game for a change.
68  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XB1]Forza 5 on: November 20, 2013, 02:34:02 PM
Eurogamer gave it a 7/10.

I am very under whelmed, 14 tracks is not enough, tracks are the meat of the game. Its like playing an Fps and shooting the same enemies over and over.

200 cars is not that many either, i mean i am no hardcore collector but how many out of those 200 are must haves.

Also 10 hours to grind out a million to buy a car sounds less than fun. No career mode as such and too much grinding to buy too few cars.

This was the one game which i was hoping would make me want to get an Xbox 1 instead it doesnt. Forza 4 is one of the few games i still play and is always something you can come back to.

Flash graphics are all good and well but I am no graphic whore, too much to ask but i really hope GT6 does the business.

In other news, the guy who posted about getting the Xbox One early (and got console banned immediately after) revealed that he had to fully load a game that was in standby mode after 20 minutes, using a bunch of other apps in the meantime. That kind of defeats the point of the standby mode, in my opinion. I hope the PS4 implementation works better than that.

Edit: Note that this is in no way an official confirmation. It could be a misread of the guy's tweet, or some other kind of misunderstanding.

The gut that has an Xbone early doesn't have the day 1 patch.    The box is supposed to be almost unplayable without it.

Continuing your Xbone negative shit mongering I see.

I was going to tell you basically the same thing as Wonderpug.  For DSLR its either Canon or Nikon.  Theres a great selection of lenses for either one and they are priced well.  If you choose Canon look into getting the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8,  its a fast and very clean lens that runs around $100.  You can get great portrait pics with it and the price is unbeatable.
I have a canon set up myself and love it.

This is everything that is wrong with photography these days. DSLR is not always where its at now or just Canon or Nikon.

You have CSC, cameras now, compact system cameras that are half the size of dslrs but with the same size sensors so picture quality is as good.

You have point and shoots with massive sensors that take slr quality pics as well.

Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and Olympus are the go to for these. Nikon and Canon have not managed anything decent in these.

The main thing with a camera is you use it, bring it with you as much as possible. Slrs are big and a large portion of people end up leaving them at home becUse of size and weight.

If all you are going to use is the lense that comes with the camera, kit lense then you also miss out the best slrs have to offer, apprently 90% of dslr users only have the kit lense.

I will point you to a topic on Octopus Overlords that is all about photography that is really worth a look at and can help with choice.

Personally i would go in a camera-shop or two and try some out, its all about feel and weight, comfort and finger grip and spacing and really how it feels.

Saying Nikon or Canon is like saying when buying a car get a Ford or GMC as if the is nothing else out there. There is a massive choice to fit need and the quality of some of the stuff out there is amazing.

To add i use a Sony Nex 7, myndext step will hopefully be the Nex A7 which will have a full frame sensor.

To add cost varies greatly but for $300 you should be able to get something decent. It may also depend how
You wish to spend, the more you spend the better choice you will have.
