I shelved RM Golf the reviews are awful and got The Golf Club while on offer and also bought the extreme edition for the season and extras. Not played a massive amount but it sure is great. Really enjoying it exce[tfor tehputting which I cant do yet but its more of a learning thing.

I am always looking that game and wanting to try it, but the reviews aren't very good. Has it gotten better, or were the reviews harsh?

The EA games never captured the Links feeling for me. Miss that game.

The reviews put me off for a while as well, but with Rory sucking there just isn't anything else nad a I wanted a golf game this seemed the best, as above it can be difficult but it certainly feels more like Links than EA golf games do.

I'm debating between this or just getting The Golf Club.

Re RM Golf they have said they will be doing constant addons to it rather than a new version yearly. However there is hardly a career mode, no golf club stuff like 14, no take it in turns golf play like 4 balls, only 8 courses as well. Comapred to TW14 it'sa  travesty. Aslo performance is poor and graphics are not that great, a quarter the number of golfers, no legends, no females either. Seems madness.

Yeah PC version is a cluster fuck apprently, no Xbox one code or PC code available for pre release reviews on PS4.

Almost sounds like they know the PC port is a screw up.

Yeah 1.10 seconds is pathetic for anything to be given a try of course as an Arsenal I understand how that can happen   eek

Say your issues and maybe someone can help, there are a few easy setting changes for handling that really make it handle well.

18  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Eurogamer drops review scores on: February 12, 2015, 06:01:29 PM
The big issue with reviews is the 7/8 out of 10. It means nothing any more. Sure a 9/10 or 10/10 makes a game seem great and something to look at I find more and more that the triple AAA releases have enough sites give it a 9 or 10 regardless it is difficult to weed out the wheat from the chaff.

It seems the only way to get a decent grip on if a game is any good is to read all the words in the reviews(s) and form a decision based on that while really ignoring the score as really means very little even in a 9 or 10 rating. I find myself reading more and more reviews and forum comments to decide if it is for me. Evolve I spent ages reading about and in the end decided no.

Now the one thing I use Metatcritic for is finding games I may be interested in. Say I want an RPG to play. I go to it, filter to all rpgs or whatever I am looking for and then browse the titles looking at multiple reviews etc and that is really useful. But just using the scores from that site would no more guarantee me finding a good game than just picking one randomly. reading the words is key and I can't believe anyone just scrolls to the end of a couple of reviews and sees 8/10 and thinks yes that's worth 30 or $50 or whatever. To me it that is so hit and miss with the lack of score relevance anymore. I would have to read much more.

I admit I got taken in by the 10/10 on Sunless Sea on Eurogamer and bought it. I really dislike it, since reading further it's pretty obvious I wouldn't have liked it much but a shiny 10/10 convinced me and I should have known better.

I know people disagree that Metacritic is the issue but seeing so many people in the business saying it is an issue it really must be.

Beat Act V on Friday, and started running rift and bounties yesterday.  Found my first Vault Goblin, which was nuts.  Up to that point (barely finished Act V, Paragon level 10), I had amassed about 3 million gold and only around 50 blood shards.  After 20 minutes in the Vault, I came away with over 12 million gold, 600 blood shards, 18 new Imperial gems, and 5 new legendary items.

Not that I'm complaining, but quadrupling my gold in a single short dungeon felt a little OP.  How common are those Vault Goblins?

At the upper level you will spend that gold easily trying to get the top tier gems and getting the slots you want on the best items, it seems a lot but you can soon spend it. I have had 2 of them, make the most of it
21  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Puzzles and Dragons, what gives? on: December 03, 2014, 11:07:23 AM
Well I play it a fair bit, it is my main game on my iPad. I amRank 210 on the U.S. version and 167 on the UK one.

I really struggle now to play match 3 where you can only move 1 orb one place once, it's like going back to using pen and paper rather than email. Playing Marvel Puzzle quest and Gems of War and both feel to slow and limiting now.

PaD is like Pokemon in that there are over 1000 to get, there is lots of content aimed at all levels, collabarations with special characters including DC, Batman etc etc.

Also they run events every week or so last 2 weeks where they give out free stone of which 5 get you a role of the rare creatures means it really is free to play.

At present I am 550 days logged in one game and 450 on the other. Normally play for 30 minutes to an hour, spend your stamina in the morning and then again in the evening. One big change they made recently was stamina is now every 5 minutes instead of 10 meaning more chance to run the bigger harder dungeons. I have 121 stamina so that is a fair amount of gameplay if you want.

There is a big thread here
22  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on: November 04, 2014, 08:08:17 AM
Well I haven't had the last 2 versions but picked this up for 25 as it looks like a marked improvement. Played a bit last night and enjoyed it.

As to the complaints I don't think it matters what they do people will slag it off because it is CoD. If you like these games for MP I think you will be happy, it's quicker, cleaner and different enough to be fun imo. If it's not your cup of tea it never will be.

It seems more effort has been put in to it and there are changes and improvements but it still is a CoD game at heart.

Puzzle ring is great, socket it and add boon of the hoarder to it.

You get 30% chance of a gold drop and boon adds 30% more gold. I pull down about 10 million gold an hour on act 1 bounties in the field using it, great way to keep your gold count up. Add to that getting the odd legendary as well its great as a farming ring.
25  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What is your primary gaming device? on: October 05, 2014, 08:53:31 AM
PC, console for racing games atm but with Project cars coming to PC that could change. The value proposition in the console just isn't there for me. 50 for a next gen game is just way too expensive for me with a young family and financial constraints whereas PC has a great backlog and new stuff at really good prices.

I got Fifa 15 for 25 on the PC against 50 on the consoles, it's just a no brainer.

However there is some great stuff coming on Nex Gen and after Xmas and there is a better choice at a more reasonable price I could be adding a new console and losing the 360 and PS3 but not this year.

I hit 70 on my Monk a week ago.

This my current build

Putting out about 400k dps and 3.7 mill toughness.

Got a few ok bits but as I've just started running rifts etc got a way to go.

I can run Torment 1 easily but not tried anything harder yet.

Yesterday I got a Treasure Vault and pulled 15 million gold from it.

I have found coop a lot of fun and is definitely the way to play as long as your play styles intersect.

This is about the only game I have played once reaching the level cap, normally I just stop straight away but it is good fun after as well now you can run adventure mode or rifts.

My boys are 4 and7 and love gaming on the iPad as well as the pc but havent shown any interest in the online portion of gaming.

However my eldest loves learning and whatever. He is in to he like looking up on youtubs if he can. Like videos of his favourite songs, luckily they are golden oldies atm so nothing inappropriate. Its not going to be an easy thing to monitor as inapproprinate stuff can appear anywhere.

This summer he has really been in to cricket(us brits eh slywink) well he went on to youtube and found a 10 best cricketing moments and said can we see it, sure i said.

All fine until we got to number 4, the match was in Austrlia, the camera man zoomed in to 2 lovely young ladies in the crowd who saw themselves on the big screen and went on to lift there tops up showing everything to everyone.

My boy goes, dad why are they doing that, i really couldnt answer that one and ended up with, they are just being silly, take no notice. He went and told his mum all about these silly ladies.

Are you playing with the unlocked sphere grids so you can experiment more with your character builds, or do you fall into the camp of people who believe that just removes the safeguards preventing you from hobbling your party?

-Autistic Angel

I went with the standard grid.  Partly because I didn't want to accidentally gimp my characters, and partly because the unique roles each character plays is a big part of the story.  Messing with that and making Yuna a melee fighter or Kimahri a healer would just mess with the core of the game, IMHO.

This is exactly why I went with Standard.  I think I had started to play this on PS2 but got rid of my PS2 and didn't play very much of it back at the time.  However, I have no memory of the beginning of this game...for some reason I remember it starting on a beach or something and it starts in a city.  At any rate, anxious to play both of these HD remakes to play these two games I never played.  So far, they look good on Vita.

I'm in the same boat. I started X on the PS2 back in the day but never got past the two hour mark, even though this type of Final Fantasy is my favorite. It seems like a mix between the PS1 era and XII and XIII. So I picked it up on the Vita, this time I vow to finish it. X-2 I'm not so sure about, but I will definitely finish X.

Same here, a remember a bit of it but not a lot, looking forward to giving it another go.

I have played the tutorial so far and it looks great, problem is im really getting in to Terraria so finding enough time for both is difficult. Shall try to play more later.

1 thing i think is it looks great, amazing for just person in fact.

I find one of two things, either i don't get them annually but say every other year regardless or once i stop buying one then i don't buy them again like CoD.

There is so much to buy and play that there is just no need to keep buying the same football game year in and year out.

I'd be a helluva lot more worried about the reports that bathrooms where the press are staying warn them to not flush used toilet paper and instead put it in the trashcan by the toilet. puke

Most countries don't have the high pressure sewer lines that we have in the US, so yes, the above is completely true.

Is true, i have been to parts of France, Cyprus, Greece, turkey, most of Africa,  all have put the paper in the bin not down the loo. Not so true of northern Europe or UK. It is to do with the size of the sewer pipes, they get blocked as they are very small.

My parents lived in cyprus for 15 years and when they came back to live in the Uk they love being able to flush the loo paper again.
