Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [Teh Funny] The cast of Seinfeld plays D&D (big image warning)

Much like the show, I received no laughs from that. Zero. None. +1 My wife and I have a theory that there are two kinds of people in North America - Seinfeld people and Friends people. We find Friends absolutely laugh out loud hilarious. Seinfeld is boring in the extreme. I like them both, except the last few seasons of friends where Ross turned into an absolute girly man. Seinfeld is total genius but the comic was kind of meh.

That video is pretty cool. I guess it took four championships before people finally felt the need to start putting things like that together but nonetheless it was probably inevitable.

Oh, and fix your damned freeways already. Travel is starting to get really annoying.
The freeways here have been under construction since I've lived here (1991) and certain parts even longer than that. We're just used to it now.

Start with the original series and watch all that one.
Start with the original series and watch one episode. That'll be enough to make you cringe in horror. Might I recommend one with the kid and the robot dog? Yeah. That'd be a good place to start. Then watch the new miniseries and the rest of the new show. And be amazed at the improvement in sci-fi since the 70's. I'll be the first to admit that the robot dog was ridiculous but you can't find anything good about the original series? Seriously?

I'll add mine as soon as I can. If anyone wasn't aware, there are some sidequests that can only be unlocked by sending mog-mail to other people. Timely thread!
What do the side quests add? (As in, is it worth it? ) My brother-in-law who is mostly on top of his FF stuff says that you need to get mail from like 10 people or something to get the very best weapons in the game. He's pissed and I tend to agree if that's true.

I've really never played any games in the Battlefield series. I downloaded the demo for BF1942 or whatever but that's it.
The demo for BF1942 was the single most influential demo I have ever played. It was also the one I played the most. By far. Looking forward to 2142 though I'm not really tired of BF2.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / AC2 Implodes; Gamers ask, "What's AC2?"
|

Wouldn't this basically be because Turbine is out on its own now and probably doesn't want to be Microsoft's bitch anymore...or did Turbine take all control over AC2? I forget. Turbine bought out the rights to AC2 and rereleased the games with the Legions upgrade. Looks like the plan didn't work and they didn't get enough players to make the game successful. the game looked pretty good, but it just didn't hold my interest. There was just too much of a grind going on. AC 1 was the game that Turbine bought from Microsoft and Throne of Destiny was the expansion that was just released with the graphics upgrade. AFAIK AC2 was always Turbine's game. AC 1 was great fun and I played it for several years but AC 2 just didn't do anything for me, other than pretty graphics.

Ummm he has'nt been funny since the early 80's at the latest. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles came out '87ish so you're off a couple of years at least. That movie and his work before has pretty much given him a pass in my eyes to do whatever he wants.

Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Looking for comparison - EQ2 and WOW

Fez, congrats on an outstanding comparison there. I think you managed to walk the line without falling into either camp and you gave some genuinely helpful information.
The only small point of contention I would have is that you say you don't always get updates in EQ when you gain an item towards a quest. I've found that even if I don't have it up in the quest helper window I still get an audio cue and text in the very middle of the screen saying what I've gathered.

I play EQ2 and really enjoy it. I wish I could play WoW also, but I don't have time so I have to pick one. I'm sure it's awesome.
I guess it's useless to try to play peacemaker in one of these threads because there's nothing like competing MMOs to get the 'my game is better than yours' juices flowing.
Eh, carry on.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Tabasco hot sauce

i usually use Blairs Death sauce when i want to set my dumper on fire and Tabasco Habanero or Chipotle for flavoring. I still haven't come across a day where I wanted to set my dumper on fire. I don't much care for the flavor of Tabasco. I've tried many times and I like sauces like that but Tabasco doesn't really do it for me.

After reading about that joke of an ending, I decided to take it back while I the trade in value was good.
Word. I came to the same conclusion after only about 3 hours of play. There are so many things I didn't like about this game. Hoping I can get at least $30 on a trade in for it.

We [The Wanderers] are currently the largest guild on the Crushbone server [after two days ] . If you'd like to join our chat channel in game type /join Wanderers. When you join the chat window should tell you that you joined and give you a number, this is your chat channel--it usually defaults to 1. Then just type /1 and your message to chat in the channel.

I tried to go to the Wanderers website but it didn't load. Is the guild represented in both the evil and good sides of EQ 2? In what seems to be a rapidly growing major release tradition, the site was down last night for awhile. It's back up now though so you shouldn't have any trouble registering and saying hello.

I won't rehash what Charlatan and Gollum are saying except to say that yeah, what happened to Gollum can happen, though I don't think anyone wants that to be the case. It has happened to me in games.
Somtimes people join a chat channel or get an invite and are introduced to folks that are online at the time. Others log on without the benefit of the introduction so they don't know the person asking the questions. Now, that's not an excuse but maybe an explanation of why you may have felt like you got the cold shoulder.
I'm not in the group playing WoW (I'm doing EQ2) but I've been involved in the guild since late '02 and it's a great bunch of folks, 75% of which have roots at Gone Gold. If you are planning on playing WoW you might give it another shot.
I would also encourage anyone planning to join us to register and post at the forums (actually this is required--you have to agree to the CoC). Semi-frequent posting is a great way to get people to recognize you in game and hey, we can all use another message board to frequent eh?
Whatever your decision I hope you can find a good guild to play with. That makes the games IMHO.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Poll: EQ2 or WOW
|
on: October 15, 2004, 09:52:41 PM

On a relatively unrelated note, I would say that arguably bards were the hardest class to play as they not only could run CC, they could pull, run clarity, buff group speed/dmg, slow, and DoT mobs depending on the individual situation. Now IMNSHO THAT is a class created by thinking out of the box. Of course I played a bard more than any other class so my view is a little biased

This reminds me of five years ago when everyone was in the UO or EQ and to a lesser extent AC camps on which game was better.
Both of these games are going to be huge. I guess since I plan on trying both (though admittedly I'm much more interested in EQ2), I don't get the stark contrasts people are trying to paint between the two.
I seriously doubt that either game is going to suck.
