So how do I attach an xboxlive ID to my ea account? ( I know I'm an idiot.)
No, not so much. I can't figure it out either. Even if I follow the step by step directions on Origin, it tells me to click buttons / drop downs that aren't even there... I *think* you are supposed to go into your account settings where allegedly they allow you to link your Gamertag to you Origin account...this is where the wheels fell off for me.

I was under the impression that I could only join the platoon through Battlelog. I have to admit though, I haven't read the whole thread.
I'm juggling between trying to get Battlelog access (I really hope this is an Origin issue because this is making feel like a complete n00b), confirming that the servers are, in fact, down right now, and finding some friends to play with.

Sure would like to join...been playing for two days and still can't log onto Battlelog. Worst part is I can't tell if I'm being a dumbass and doing something wrong or if it's Origin's issue. It just says 'Account is not allowed to login'

This is me during the first part of the climb. Notice the rocks. It was like this everywhere, with no flat ground on which to rest your feet. (continued in next post...) Cool pics... I loved you in School of Rock by the way--definitely your best effort.

The difference in number of employees (assuming the Bioware # is still correct) astounds me.
I guess I had no idea how many employees it took to maintain a fully operational MMO.
I don't have the energy to photoshop a horde insignia on top of the Death Star

I have a few thousand cards to I'd like to get rid of. They are all at least ten years old though.
Online game is great though I tried it in beta for the current set a few months ago and leagues were broken. Leagues are outstanding so if they are fixed in the current version I would highly suggest you give it a shot.

And here I thought this was going to be about the opening 'area' in either BG1 or 2. I could never get into the first Baldurs Gate because I kept getting my arse handed to me in the beginning, and BG 2 took about a year of aborted attempts to finally click with me (pretty much once I got passed the opening area), so I'm guessing you're both right. I was the reverse. I got all the way to the end, and couldn't win the final fight. By the time I got there, I was in no mood to go back to some other area and level up more, so I just stopped playing. This was me. Got all the way to the end and the final fight beat me down.

Well you have to take into account they we are still paying roughly the same amount we payed for games 15-20 years ago while the cost to produce them has gone up for the most part so something had to give.
I would argue that we were being overcharged then

How does ToV run compared to vanilla CoH? I don't suppose there were any engine changes or such? I'm thinking of having my Dad pick this up with me but I'm not sure his rig would handle it were it any stouter than CoH.

Hell you can probably pick up both 2142 and BF 2 for around $40. That should keep you busy.
nother note on 2142: They never really did iron out some of the performace issues, especially when inside one of the capitol ships.
I just picked up and am installing the BF2 complete collection in the background. I paid $30 for it. I tried reinstalling my original BF2 the other day but I only have the disk and the CD key must be in a box in the garage. I figure it was worth the $30 to get access to the whole collection and BF2 has always been one of my favorite games of all time.

This game seems cool, I just wish I could get it to run without crashing I have the same problems, sometimes it causes my system to do a memory dump and restart. Error message flashes up about an IRQ number being less than.... (I don't have time to read the rest). There are times I've played for a few hours without a crash but yesterday I got maybe 10 minutes in before it dumped. Meh. I use F5 for quicksave to save my games and I've been doing it often so as not to lose too much progress. This time it crashed on me while I was saving so my save file is corrupt and the last auto save was an hour or two earlier in the game. I have too many games and too little time for this. Bummer too because this game looks to be very cool.

I'm playing the SP campaign with a friend and we've usually been able to plan out what we want to do during a mission with plenty of success. We certainly take longer than 10 minutes but I would say somewhat less than 1 hour per mission.
The 'characters' are already fairly specialized and we're pretty much taking them further in the directions they already lean. I usually handle Tarkus and Avitus, providing ranged supports and my buddy runs the FC and more often Thaddeus for the melee portion. It works well for us.

I just finished watching and for me the show had a perfect story arc. I like explosions as much as the next guy, but when they mostly went away I was okay because by then I was invested in the characters.
The character of Bill Adama is easily my favorite of all time and the final scenes with him and Laura were amazing.

okay, tried and bought Cod4 now...and,eh...its an arcade killfest..thats all
THe maps are small, you die every other second, and there's no teamwork whatsoever...
WaW, with its bigger maps, allow for more tactics, and I hate to say this, but BF2 has far superior gameplay, in terms of squads being usefull, tactics likewise, and you can actually stay alive longer than 10-15 seconds at a time.
I mean, come on, I was at a map that had us spawning literally on top of eachother?? I died every other second due to grenades, since that was all people did, or, from someone spawning RIGHT on top of me....
THe SP experience seems fun though
Try the maps: Crossfire or District. The action is still very immediate but rarely are you spawn camped. Actually, you're almost never spawn camped in CoD4 except in shipment and probably killhouse as those two are very small maps. None of them are even near as big as a BF2 map. Overgrown is one of the larger maps but I don't care for it much--you might like it as it is a little more spread out.

The voice acting is absolutely the worst ever and since you get to hear it over and over again it kind of grates. The Russian voiceover sounds pretty much Japanese and the German voiceover is so over the top that it drives me nuts. I'm pretty sure the American voiceover is Jack Bauer and even that gets old quickly.
Yup, if you do drugs before you play that's more or less how it will sound. I'm not talking about the single player campaign. I'm talking about the voice overs in multiplayer..when the Russians call for artillery it sounds like pretty much anything but Russian and since you get to hear it 50 times a match, it grates. That's okay though, I'm not grading for reading comprehension.

Single player in CoD4 is amazing, if frustrating at times. It is the only CoD I've played until just picking up WaW a couple of weeks ago. The multiplayer in CoD4 is 100% infantry based--no vehicles. Many people prefer this and while I'm not one of them, I certainly cannot complain.
So far in WaW I have only played the multiplayer and while I'll grant that I'm only level 15 or so, I don't find it anywhere near as compelling as 4.
