8081  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / AoC Classes thread on: May 26, 2008, 10:14:58 AM
So, what classes are you playing, and what is the strength/weakness's of each?

Personally, I really enjoy my Tempest of Set - delivers serious damage and is fun to play..Ive heard that the ToS and the Demonologist are the best (some would say most unbalanced) for end-game play so far, delivering the best DPS and with the higest survivability.

Also, tried out the Bear shaman, and got him to level 12 - really fun, but healing is very lacking as I see it so far...
8082  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: AoC CE Impressions (now with Game Impressions below) on: May 26, 2008, 09:28:49 AM
okay...thats just bad, it seems the buddy keys systems isnt working yet?? appearently, the servers arent up to capacity?? that is pure nonsense and quite bad planning - I actually PAID for my five buddy keys...well, they are included in the CE edition.

Could you elaborate on the problem?  I'm trying to think of what kind of problem couldn't be handled by account people.  Plus, where are you that you've been having a problem for two weeks?  I thought the game just came out?

well, the problem was, that I had an old Anarchy Online account, and when I entered my pre-order code, it just..vanished. No Age of Conan account showed up for me anywhere...trying to do it again didnt work, and apperantly that was a problem a lot of people had.. so, I wrote the accountpeople about it, and they told me they only handled Anarchy online (aftre 7 days) and referred me to Ageofconan account mail instead. Even though I DID use the mail adress in the "register.ageofconan.com" account area.... So, after writing that mail, I got their standard response, that EA (EArly Acces) was closed bla bla bla, which had  nothing to do with the problem.

It's thankfully fixed by now, but...those were horrendous waiting times, especially since their phones werent answered as well.

they still havent answered btw...

In my company, we say 24 hours is the MAXIMUM a mail is allowed to remain unaswered...

New RP-PvE Ruleset available on first server

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the launch of Age of Conan in Europe we introduce another ruleset which has been requested by many players for quite some time now: RP-PvE.

The first server available of that ruleset is Hyrkania (European English region). We will keep an eye out for that server to see how many players actually are interested and will consider more servers if needed.

Hyrkania, here I come!!

Here's some more grist for the rumor mill - PC Gamer is promising a top-secret cover story next month that's "so huge we had to go to [CENSORED] to get it".  People are speculating that the censored bit is "hell", meaning it's Diablo 3.  Of course, their last big exclusive turned out to be nothing, so this is could end up being the same.

Btw, in case any euro's are wondering - BORI is the unofficial PvE-RP server.

There's rumours that we *might* get an official RP-PvE server though

8097  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Games Consumer service - does it EVER work? on: May 22, 2008, 12:46:41 PM
So, having had a lot of troubles with my Age of Conan account, I wrote funcom about it, from their own account area.

9 days later - "Its not our area, you have to write to " another funcom division..

nice, so I did that, and got an answer 2 days later...about one full page of standard answer, that had nothing to do at all with my trouble.

so, I wrote that back to them, 4 days ago...and..nada! nothing...nothing at all has happened yet...

I've tried this before, and the only time I've EVER had a meaningfull response, was with World of Warcraft..Blizzard is, in all ways, a company that takes itself and its reputation seriously...

But other than that - has anyone EVER had Consumer service that actually was worth a damn?

So - after having some virus attacks a while ago, which I beat with threadfire, I know find myself in the curious situation of having NO joblist anymore...

Also, once in a while, windows asks to be startet in "repair mode" after a restart, but, when I select the option, nothing happens, andI have to just start windows normally

Please - Help me obi-wan-GT-Hivemind...you are my only hope!

Interesting- Here in Denmark we've only gotten to the semi finals, with about 3 weeks I think till the big showdown...even so, every major newspaper published today the winner of AI2008... makes the rest of the show a bit...boring to watch IMO...
8102  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Age of Conan - Euro guild on: May 22, 2008, 08:16:23 AM
So, tomorrow I'll be getting my copy, and can play a bit friday evening, and then again sunday it seems...

after much consideration, I'll start on a PvE server - just need to find an RP-themed one. I.e. the unofficial PvE-RP server in europe - unfortunately, Funcom has in its wisdom decided that I CANT visit the damn forums, until I have the key for the retail version...very very strange. People arent allowed to see what others write about the game, before they bought it themselves?

Strange - I just got a notice in my e-mail box stating that if I entered a certain CD key, they'd give me the Drinking Cape for life. It gives you free Ambrosia, BTW.

Problem is, I already have the CE, so the item is utterly useless. Go figure.

I just got the same email.  Not sure if it's for participating in the closed beta or what, but I also have the CE (in the mail) so it's useless to me too.

I got it as well, and wasnt in closed, only open beta... but have the CE bought as well, although..eh..they can't know that, since, well, I havent gotten the box or the code yet :-D

It's a well known fact in europe, that Americans dont understand things as well as Europeans, as can easily be seen by how they take european movies and run them through hollywood filters...so, why not do the same to games...

We're just not at the same level it seems ;-)

anyways, can anyone confirm that the US version of RB is NOT regionlocked?

So far it's been what I expected, which is to say great fun!

It makes exploring much more interesting, and since I've gone in with the mindset that ganking WILL happen, I've had no problems when it did. I've been ganked 2-3 times, but I've managed to get sweet revenge in two cases, and in most cases people seem to have a reasonable set of ethical values in terms of who they attack and why.

It's just the only way I can see myself playing - at least for now.
Are you soloing or running with a group?

I'm soloing for now - until the official release where I'll be joined by the GF and a few friends hopefully.
I might just join you - Pvp-RP server, right?

although, perhaps its the other way around - the day that you've had sets the mood for your dreams?
