My question about all the negative reviews at Amazon is if the reviews came from legitimate gamers who purchase all their games or the thieves who download them?

I haven't read much into this yet because frankly it hasn't affected me, but when 700,000 assholes have downloaded games like Assassin's Creed for free, doesn't that call for desperate measures?

As a game developer myself, I can't even start to imagine what goes on in the heads of the EA executives who think this kind of DRM is a good idea. Seriously, I don't know what kind of arguments they might present. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during one of their meetings.

Well hey, you can rest assured knowing you are a fly on the wall when they are considering your opinion slywink

I dunno, I see this as an issue for people who re-install games a million times over or lack internet but for the majority of us I don't see what the big deal is. It's like when everyone was complaining about Half-Life 2 requiring an internet connection to play. I suppose I simply don't care about a minority issue, and neither does EA apparently.

There are times, Ridah, when you come off as an incredibly trollish person, but I'm sure thats not intentional... First off, its 3 times, not a million times re-installing, does that sound right to you?  Secondly, appearently, there are a lot of people who complains about this, and the fact that it is NOT stated so on the box, makes it even more suspect..

Anyways - EBgames here in denmark has agreed to take my copy back, since it clearly wasnt stated on the box, that you could only reinstall the game three times...so, perhaps Ebgames arent so sure about the rights to do things like this, as EA are.

Large corporations all have different angles than most "normal" people. Many decisions that seems strange, shutting down divsions, areas, that seems to be profitable, are purely fiscal (I hope thats the english word) - They largely depend on them being financially stable ON PAPER, no matter what the reality is, and things like these could simply be the shifting of numbers on pagers in the larger corporate end-goal...

heh, you know, this is rather funny, when I first saw this thread, I immediatly pressed "Vanguard" as my option...which I dont play anymore ;-)

its all subjective, ask me know, and I'd say Warhammer.. ;-)
7565  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: SPORE Impressions on: September 11, 2008, 07:13:30 AM
okay, the DRM and internet 3 x times and your out activation system passed beneath my radar - If I'd known this, I'd never have bought the game...can they really get away with this? I mean, SIms, which I compare this game to, is a game I've reinstalled perhaps 15 times so far...

reminds me too much of the Xcom email game they published some years ago, which depended on EA servers to work - and yeah, after a  year or so, that service was disconnected..GO EA... motherf*****s

OK quick update

On

[EN]Karag Orrud as Order

High Elf - Shadow Warrior
Dwarf - Ironbreaker
Empire - Warrior Priest

[EN]Ellyrion as Destruction

Dark Elf - Witch Elf
Greenskin - Black Orc
Chaos - Maurauder

My main aim to try a few classes to lvl 10 or so if possible so it allows me to make a good choice next week.

So far i'm not enjoying Shadow Warrior too much but not really sure why.

awesome! cant remember what servers I'm on, but I'm playing order - Sigmar priests rocks all kinds of hard - nearly impossible to take down..

I'll check if its Karag Orrud I'm on as well, reemul, and give you a holler...I'm Reinhart btw ;-)

Karag Norn - and not really wanting to switch, since I Have my warrior priest up to lvl 9 there, sorry

Yeah, it's nice to see healers as desirable classes finally.  Traditionally, they've had a hard time soloing, and spent a lot of their group time getting bitched at for not healing fast enough.  Well, look dude, if you keep pulling four mobs onto you and running directly away from me, it's your own dumb fault, and btw, it's hard to heal when I'm getting beat on because you don't know how to tank.

isnt it really only in WoW they are hard to solo and are just healbots in, if you really think about it?

Anyways, played a human priest of Sigmar the other night (yeah, got in, finally), and at one point, had three chaos warriors hammering me, and it took them close to 3 minutes to beat me down...Sigmar rocks hard!!

Well home from work and new account registration is down still. Anyways i managed to find a backdoor link and registered and entered my beta code but no emails at all yet. Looks like it's a wait and see thing.

28 hours waiting for me so far, Reemul, so - dont get your hopes up ;-)

As for GOA - yeah, european handlers of Warhammer, and being really, really inept about it...its interesting actually, because many say "relax, its only a game" and indeed it is, even for those of us for whom gaming is huge hobby, hehe, but, its also rather BIG business as well... Mythic should be worried by now, seing as the european market could be a big one, warhammer being british originally and all...

oh well - we'll see :-)

Not sure if anyone cares, but hopefully the few euro people here are interested ;-)

So, 3rd day of open beta in europe, and mostly, no go - Now, GOA starts the day of first by not commenting the missing emails for activation after being entered 24 hours ago, but, then promptly starts of with lying at 17.00, saying that all of the backlog of emails have been processed, and now 70.000 people have acces to the open beta. Now, giving the now 370 pages long forum thread, and the close to 800 people online at the forum, whereas all say they HAVENT gotten the email, and the few who have, cannot log into the game, thats just pure idiocy...After an hour or so, he amends the statement to say that "the bulk of".. emails have been processed.

As for the 70.000 people having acces, well, the few with closed beta acces reported then, that all servers had "low" popuilation, and servers where currently set to peak at around 1500 people, thats another blatant lie..

Sigh...I dont know how to express this, but - gods , I wish I lived in the states just this once!! Mythic has launched this quite succesfully, actually seemed like a pretty good MMO launch, compared to most...

anyways, a big announcement is supposed to take place "later" on www.war-europe.com.... My guess? Goa is bancrupt...

well, last night was a roaring succes for GOA - the open beta stress test was a succes, as all 10 people admitted to the eurobeta experienced no real issues with crowding or lagging ;-)

anyways, still waiting for confirmation mail myself - was suppused to take between 1-2 hours, has taken 15 hours so far.... most impressive work - I have a feeling goa has to get on its knees for Mythic soon, if they want to continue having the license...

Same question here as other topic, anyone know where to download the client from or a torrent link?

doesnt work for people who HAVE an account either - I'm beginning to think GOA will crash and burn on this , and no open beta... Some people have managed (incl me) to register their beta key, and the mail should be out within minutes..no-one has recieved one yet - and to top that, authentication servers arent up yet either, so no-one can actually play the game

as for your question, no clue sory, how about fileplanet? US and euro client could be the same, as I understand it?

Ceekay, your creature is positively scary! Let me guess, Herbivore? ;-)

anyways, as I posted over at OO, the game has faded a bit on me, space section was, boring and repetitive, and without charm once I played it for a few hours...

The dumping down of the games depth has made this a bit too, well, empty for me - the only thing that matters in your  creature design, seems to be the poison and the spike thing, all other things is purely cosmetic, since having a trillion legs doenst make your creature go faster, or anything else at all...

On the other hand, some people are incredible at this - at my last game, I ran into a christmas gnoe thingie that scared me a LOT!

I'm really impressed - GOA STILL havent been able to finish their code entry website, and for europeans, the open beta starts tomorrow.

As I see it, there cant be any rational reasoning for not taking care of their website before launch, other than ineptitude and perhaps because they have no idea how to do it...

I bet a chickenhead that they WONT have it ready for tomorow...

hmm, okay, so I'm not the only one who's been having that trouble? Well, the spore.com site has been doing some maintenance, so, I was guessing that was why?

Anyways, thanks HepC, didnt think so, but good to be sure :-)

Anyways, played a bit more tonight, through the first landstage, and then onto the tribal stage.

The first landstage was fun, although, got a bit repetitive after a while - I'm sure there are ways to offset that, with a second playthough, but I Did have some rather fun adventures... For instance, when an EPIC creature suddenly wandered in, taller than anything, even the trees, and started trampling and killing the poor creautres I'd just befriended.

I'm hoping a second playthrough will be faster due to me knowing how to play it.

Anyways, only scrathed the tribal part a bit so far, but so far it seems a lot like an RTS, with me having to manage food, more villagers, and nearby villagers - will report back when I've played through that as well

oh, and my comp hasnt been destroyed by securerom yet ;-)
