How's the balance with Destruction on Ostermark?  I rolled a dwarf with some people I play WoW with on Averheim and RvR has been total fail.  We were outnumbered so badly in 2 of the 3 zones we tried that I'm going to hold off leveling for now on that server.

plenty of other things to do, than just being in the openland RvR zone - Pve, public quests, and the PvP scenarios, which are awesome!

Basically RP servers act as a somewhat effective filter for screening out 10-year old WoW-kiddiez who like to name their characters SirFartsALot.

<shakes head as he scratches something off his notepad>

how about "BeefHammer"?  that's kind'a warhammer-ish, isn't it?

you'r garanteed to be flamed for that name, if not reported - when you enter an RP server, you'll have to agree to another agreement about names - try reading that to get a feel for what kind of names are allowed. Anyways, have fun on an RP server - its good stuff, people are generally more mature there, and rp CAN be fun

The Wanderers are a casual guild, I don't see why anyone that doesn't have an issue with them play with them if you're going to play order.

Destruction could be a little different, they will be playing Dest on an Open server.

I'll be playing with a bunch of people on Destruction side of a Core server though, and more are always welcome.

I just don't really see the reason for everyone to start their own guild though, short of the hardcore raiding, tight schedule type people.

I have 10-15 people planning on playing with me, if we get more of the small groups like that together we'll have a large enough pool that everyone should have someone to group with if they want to.  I'd just hate to see us end up like we did with every other mmo with people scattered on 10 different servers between the 4 websites I frequent.

Hark -- waiting on repsonse from my message.   I need to know server/etc info sot hat I can play with you guys.

Been reading up a bit , and seems a lot of people thinks the Swordsmaster is a bit broken compared to IB and BO - of course, that could be the usual moaning about classes whenever someone dies ;-)

Also, I went sword'n-board, perhaps it would've been better to go twohander I see...especially seen in the light that you can ONLY block/parry incoming attacks from the front...

thanks for the answers, Skystride.

I guess perhaps a tank just isnt for me then in RvR - I just dont know what to do with myself, as opposed to when I'm playing warrior priest, witchhunter or some ranged dps'er. I just seem to die very quickly. and yeah, contribution I counted on the stats, but then again, only recently got my swordsmaster to lvl 7 so that could be it :-)

As for equipment variety, thats too bad..hopefully, they'll patch that in somehow

coordination? ugh...I've never seen that yet, other than the unspoken kind ,that is ;-)

7571  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / [Warhammer] a few questions for the vets on: September 15, 2008, 06:51:17 PM
So, I've been playing a bit, and loving the game so far...I do have a few questions though, that I hope some of the veterans from closed beta can answer

1) Tanks , orderside, seems more or less useless in RvR - with all my other classes, I can usually end up around top 5, normally top 3 without any trouble, as a swordsmaster though, I cant do any damage at all, and for obvious reasons, I cant dps that much - will this change, and what role should a tank play in the RvR?

2) Destruction, primarily Black Orcs seems way overpowered in r1-10, is that the general feeling? Destruction seems to win a lot on the servers I've been on, and blackorcs are pretty much impossible to take down as I see it. Withelves I have no trouble with, and the other long-range dps'ers I can deal with, when up and close, but BOs? wow!

3) will equipment become more varied , look-wise as the ranks go on? most weapons and armour Ive seen look pretty much the same.

4) Will classes and sides (order/destruction) even out more, abilitywise as ranks go on?

Thanks :-)

oh, and I'm loving the game so far! My warrior priest kicks shiny butt and outheals any others I've encountered and has decent dps as well- Witchhunters are SO fun to play... squishy, but fun! and I do also like my swordsmaster, he just feels a bit...useless so far...
7572  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Warhammer Online headed to Open Beta on 9/7 on: September 15, 2008, 09:53:07 AM
Indeed - although, I tend to wait till around lvl 3-4 so that I have abilities I can actually use in the scenario - makes it more fun for me and I dont feel so bad about just getting xp from the rest of group :-)

Razgon/Reemul can you post when you have got on the server and confirm server name etc? I hear they are having some big queues and have added a few servers already! Good sign I think.

I'm playing on Burlok, as both Reinhart, Archeon and Razgon :-) Razgon the Warrior priest will be my main, I'm pretty sure...kicks shiny butt in RvR ;-)

As for the additional downloads, well...first time I patched was 189 mb, second time was around 10 MB and thats all...

although, I actually havent seen any intro movies yet, now that I think about it...

Try looking here for careers : http://warhammervault.ign.com/View.php?view=GameInfo.Detail&id=35 - hope that helps :-)

I've no experience myself with those, I'll be sticking mostly with Empire, Warrior Priest and perhaps Witch hunter, which I havent played yet

That sucks, and from what I've gathered, US medical system is a bit like that... not that good

While I dont claim we have the best in the world, doctors visits and hospital visits here are free - the biggest concerns regarding that, is the queues you'll have to wait in for larger operations, some of them are 3 months, others have a waiting period up to a year.

of course, we have one of the highest tax rates in the world (I pay close to 60 percent in taxes) for just that reason...

The WoW kitties will need to learn how to play a REAL pvp game. healers... If you're a rune priest or zealot please don't try to loldps just heal your team and shut the fuck up. You'll win if you heal.

I've maintained a 30,000 healing point lead over all other destro healers and our team has won because of my healing. If the other healers had healed we woulda won the RvR battles much more quickly. instead you saw the other zealots die and I stayed alive because I healed our dps and myself and didn't do any dmg at all.

Seriously...Stop being an idiot and heal. that's your role. If you want to loldps roll the other classes that are DPS classes.

Why so angry here??

oh, and how the heck do you heal for 30.000?? I've never even seen that in levels 1-10... As for zealots, dont they, like Warrior priests, have to get in and get dirty in melee to be able to heal efficiently?

And Daehawk, thats what makes the game so damn fun , tactics actually work and its VERY satisfying to get the person you want dead, eh, dead!

Yep total madness. 3 days to get into the Open Beta, 2 days played and on the last day they pull the servers down during the afternoon and it's been 8 hours and still can't get in. I really can't see how much GOA have even got out of this open beta and it certainly seems they won't be coping with it next week.

buying a us code to play with, seems more and more as a real option...I seriously doubt GOA will be ready for Headstart even...

I have a friend who's over in Germany for school...do you know for sure that buying a US version will allow you to play on US servers?  I don't want him to pick it up and then find out that he's blocked by IP address or something.

According to several people over at warhammer alliance, they have been blocked for playing, due to them being euro, in the us - something about distributional rights...on the other hand, its just "forum people", so that could be wrong, but I'd be very sure to make sure it was possible, before trying it ouy

in other news, GOA has offered 7 days of free game time in exchange for the shi..eh, poor open beta... guess we'll see if headstart works out, before im pleased.

My favorite speculation/fear quoted in some other articles (mostly dismissed as hysteria) was that the contraption might create a black hole that grows and grows, eventually sucking up the Earth and maybe even the entire Solar System.

How the heck is something in France going to create a super condensed Star that collapses on itself?

actually, they (CERN) have been sued by several groups of scientists who claim that the experiment will create a so-called black hole - now, CERN scientists have denied any danger, claiming that any black hole created will have insufficient mass to develop and will collapse upon itself immediatly.

So, the idea isnt that far-fethed...

Also, the Hague court is considering suing them still for endagering other humans unlawfully...

why not the RP server, LP? Usually, more mature people, more fun - and you dont have to say anything in /say if you dont want to ;-)

levelling seems pretty fast - got to lvl 11 last night by mostly RvR'ing with my warrior priest, and thats with approx 2 days of playtime, and  Ihave a lot of other alts, lvl 4-5...

Lvl 4 takes around one hour of playtime, but I've no clue as to higher levels, although I've heard its very comparable to wow, i.e. getting to max level at approx the same time as in wow now...

I find it to be quite fun - I've NEVER Liked PVP - always hated it, mostly due to its random nature in the games I've played, and the ganking I've seen -well, I love it in this game...It makes so much sense.

Between the realmVSrealm scenarios, the Public quests, and the PVE, there's sooo much fun to be had, any way you like it..and the book you get? Droooool - so much great information,if you'r into lore, or just like to have some fun stuff to read once in awhile, that builds atmosphere...

also, the game runs very very well, much better than Age of COnan, and many other contemporay games, even with 20 people going at each other, I dont experience much if any lag due to this...MAdness you say? THIS..IS BETA! ;.)

anyways, its quite fun, much more than I hoped for - so...come play, pretty please? :-)

they announced the serves today - 2 core RP servers, which is where I'll be playing..

My question about all the negative reviews at Amazon is if the reviews came from legitimate gamers who purchase all their games or the thieves who download them?

I haven't read much into this yet because frankly it hasn't affected me, but when 700,000 assholes have downloaded games like Assassin's Creed for free, doesn't that call for desperate measures?

As a game developer myself, I can't even start to imagine what goes on in the heads of the EA executives who think this kind of DRM is a good idea. Seriously, I don't know what kind of arguments they might present. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during one of their meetings.

Well hey, you can rest assured knowing you are a fly on the wall when they are considering your opinion slywink

I dunno, I see this as an issue for people who re-install games a million times over or lack internet but for the majority of us I don't see what the big deal is. It's like when everyone was complaining about Half-Life 2 requiring an internet connection to play. I suppose I simply don't care about a minority issue, and neither does EA apparently.

There are times, Ridah, when you come off as an incredibly trollish person, but I'm sure thats not intentional... First off, its 3 times, not a million times re-installing, does that sound right to you?  Secondly, appearently, there are a lot of people who complains about this, and the fact that it is NOT stated so on the box, makes it even more suspect..

Anyways - EBgames here in denmark has agreed to take my copy back, since it clearly wasnt stated on the box, that you could only reinstall the game three times...so, perhaps Ebgames arent so sure about the rights to do things like this, as EA are.
