I hope this game is good but I don't have much faith in Marc Jacobs. A guy who used to say he doesn't play the PvP part of the game much back in Warhammer Online interviews and now he is a self proclaimed PvP guru?
Its not Warhammer Online people are basing their faith in him from - its the fact that its supposedly a Dark Age of Camelot spiritual successor, which was all about the RvsR

IMO the graphics are good for a MMO that released in 2007, but the game is still 6 years old and it shows. As it stands, I can't run the graphics on full with my ancient gaming rig, so it doesn't bother me too much. My son who has the uber gaming rig in the house on the other hand, didn't care for them at all. It's engine was built on Unreal 3, so there's apparently quite a few tweaks that can be made to it to enhance the graphics.
I agree about there likely never being a major graphic update. The game's management team is more concerned about putting out all that content that the game never got, mostly due to a very poor launch.
Well, LOTRO and DDO has both recieved 3 graphical updates (They run on the same engine) so far, so who can tell. If there is money in it, it may happen.

Crap I didn't get to play Tilt's adventure, but no big deal, this way I get to play more of it come release. In any case, I didn't see anyone post this so congrats to Tilt! http://nw.perfectworld.com/news/?p=847741Thanks! I'm getting a bit frustrated at the ratings right now. The simpler quests are continually getting top ratings and almost no 1-star ratings, while I'm getting one trash review after another between the good ones. In case any of you think the trash reviews are deserved, let me copy the text from all the 1-stars I've received so far, with my comments after: "wwww" - Really now? I guess I need to improve that part then. "Thief skills required for completion" - Read: Player can't solve a "puzzle" that requires talking to two people. "boring and not intuitive - very poor design" - What can I say? The guy probably got a panic attack as soon as his quest trail disappeared (on purpose, I might add). Also probably thinks reading is something his grandparents might have liked. "sux, sry dude" - At least he's polite about it. The rating system needs work so that stuff like that can be filtered out. I even warn these people in the quest description that I'll let them off the leash and have them think for themselves. *sigh!* Even with a whole bunch of 4 and 5-star reviews, my quest currently has an average of 3 (and the campaign 2.5) thanks to these jokers. Btw, I'm getting some rewards from the Foundry system. I received a nifty cloak and title ("Foundry Apprentice") after about 10 people had rated my quest, which was nice. Looking forward to seeing what else I'll get over time. Well, right now there is a Foundry Spotlight at the Neverwinter site that is your quest - congrats on being on the frontpage tilt! http://nw.perfectworld.com/news/?p=847741

I don't know what they may or may not have done since the prior beta, but what I saw was pretty sad. It was almost identical to the opening tutorial from Tabula Rasa, I could almost swear it was lifted directly - but with a bunch of glitches and buggy behavior. I never got much further after some bizarre mob(?) one shotted me and I was stuck in some weird plant/graphics glitch.
totally different experience here - Everything just worked out of the box, the game looked great, and ran great, and was a lot of fun. Its VERY nice to have an MMO that isnt a fantasy world based on the WoW model, and this is definitely it!

Thanks! This was a great bit of news to wake up to, even though my campaign still has an average of 2.86 or so stars. There's a large debate going on (and it has been going on for a few weeks) about how to fix the rating system. There are more problems with it than just what I experience, but I'll be sure to contribute to it. I'd like to be able to make quests for a niche audience without getting slaughtered in reviews. Are you going to be making adventures in Shadowrun as well? Depending on the editor, thats my number one most interesting thing coming up in the horizon :-)

This is pretty damn awesome- The GF and I started watching these a few weeks ago for the first time, and both love them, so this is perfect timing for us.
Just a word of warning - LOTS of spoilers on the kickstarter page, if you like us are about episode 15 season one :-)

I picked up Ticket to Ride + expansions yesterday. Other than that, I'm cool.
Such a nice little game! I've got US and Europe on the phone, but it might be nice to play them on something a bit bigger. Ah, you got it on Steam? I have that as well - its a shame you can't play that version with the Phone versions.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I can't say to much due to NDA, other than the game is actually pretty fun. It has some decent shooting mechanics, and a HUGE skill tree to choose from. The graphics are very nice, and runs nicely on my 1½ year old I5 laptop at 1600 x 900.
The missions themselves are okay, but the meat of the game is of course the PVP part.
That said, 59.95 is NOT a price range I'm comfortable with - I wish they had gone the Planetside 2 way instead.

The game is pretty fun - I can't say much because of NDA, but it has pretty high production values, so hopefully the TV show has so as well!

So, I finally bought a 3 month pack of this rather wonderful service and while its extremely slow to download, it has some very nice games!
Sleeping dogs is there, even though I can't go to the download part of the game for some reason? It just says its not available right now - anyone seen that happening before?
Also, where do you see what games are coming? And do I have to download them once to keep them in my games list, so to speak?

For some reason EGM gave it a 90 and called it "a big event for the genre" or something. Next highest review is in the 60s. Can you say payoff?
No kidding. That entire review reads like an Amazon.com product placing with no actual meat in it in the slightest. Go read the comments (before they all get removed) for a few good laughs. Next highest score (at least for the moment) to that is a 65/100, which includes Ron's review. Which frankly seems like a much more accurate score if you were a fan of the Aliens series. Eurogamer's review (30/100, lowest score) is as usual extremely critical of things. Talk about just a total failure of a game in the end. If that EGM review doesn't end up in some startling cleanup over there, or the dismantling of the site, something is very wrong. I accept that reviews can vary, but *not* like this. A review isnt the same as an opinion piece. If this is true, its insane : Jim Sterling Jim Sterling @JimSterling
That good looking demo of Colonial Marines they kept showing at events? Not part of the game. It was entirely contrived, and basically a lie https://twitter.com/JimSterling/status/301286341998694400I'm sad I was right about this trainwreck, because as I wrote elsewhere, this means that basically the Aliens Franchise is dead, both as movies and as games.

That trailer had some terrible Duke Nukem voice-overs.
Also, I know TimeGate Studios is (or was) involved with this game as well. I'm not sure if TG was only working on multiplayer or if it was the whole game, but it has definitely been worked on by other studios.
Thanks! I was sure of that as well, but couldn't find anything about it.

Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Gay Marriage 2013!

I find that particular odd because the Vikings of history were very gay friendly. Their longboats were always adorned with hot pink boas and track lighting. Enemies could easily detect an oncoming invasion from the chorus of "It's Raining Men" coming from the direction of the sea immediately before an attack. LOL :-D That would make a fun movie!

Denmark was actually the first country allowing same sex legal marriages. The strange thing is though, its allowed as a legal marriage, but not as a church marriage. In Denmark we can get married at City hall (Its called something else, but its the same), but the Church and the politicians are still arguing about same sex marriages in the church. I believe they are legal, but the priest can say he/she won't do it.
What a weird world!

|
on: January 24, 2013, 07:53:24 AM

This is wiki's explanation of the word - At first I thought you qouted that, but you didnt, as your deleted post mentioned, Ceekay. Misogyny (pron.: /mɪˈsɒdʒɪni/) is the hatred or dislike of women or girls. Misogyny can be manifested in numerous ways, including sexual discrimination, denigration of women, violence against women, and sexual objectification of women.[1][2] Misogyny has been characterised as a prominent feature of the mythologies of the ancient world as well as various religions. In addition, many influential Western philosophers have been described as misogynistic.[1] The male counterpart of misogyny is misandry, the hatred or dislike of men; the antonym of misogyny is philogyny, the love or fondness of women. This thread is about giving women equal opportunity in the army, and the first thing we get is semi-naked women... Apologies for misspelling the word though! English is hard!

I agree wholeheartedly with this, I just hope the standards for combat units are not lowered.
Aye, it seems like that is the idea as well, as I understand it. "As this new rule is implemented, it is critical that we maintain the same high standards that have made the American military the most feared and admired fighting force in the world - particularly the rigorous physical standards for our elite special forces units," McCain said in a statement.

Sadly, all keys are gone - I got 8 more for some reason from steam, but 7 of those are gone as well, and I only have the one I promised Azhag left.
As for cooling down - nah, that train has left. I asked in the thread that it be left alone, because of the lack of people looking in this area and frankly, its not like Console/PC gaming is overflowing with posts - Amazingly, its more important to be rules lawyering than letting the GT people get some free games - The last "Talking to a 3 year old" remark even though I had taken my conversation to PM's with naednek is frankly, infuriating and something that is done just to spite.
I have no patience for that kind of games, so, I have no interest in trying out helping anymore, which was what this thread was all about, if thats the response.
Anyways I'm glad I could help a few GT'ers after all!
btw - Its not trading - it was pc games being given away..thus, the pc /console games area.
