482  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / How is Medieval:Total War compared to RTW? on: December 04, 2004, 03:49:33 PM
After playing through RTW a few times I am now interested in MTW.  I really liked RTW and am a fan of all things medieval, so is MTW worth playing?  I heard somewhere it was a bit on the buggy side but that is not confirmed.

485  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Suck it Trebek-SNL Celebrity Jeopardy on: November 28, 2004, 06:58:44 AM
These were some of the funniest sketches I've seen on SNL and was wondering if anyone knew of a sight I could find them on.  Darrel Hammonds Sean Connery is priceless and I'd also like to see David Duchovney's Jeff Goldblum. So far my searching hasn't come up with anything tangible.  Also, any sketches involving Seinfeld I'd like to find.

489  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2: Steam vs Retail on: November 16, 2004, 05:01:23 AM

Ok its monday night.  I could buy HL2 off the Steam sight now and be playing it tomorrow morning?  Or wait until the stores open and buy the retail/box version?  I'd rather just get it from Steam.  The retail/box version doesn't come with the HL source?  Just what do I get if I bought from the store vs. buying say, the Silver package from Steam. Also, can I infact play right away as of the 16th or do I have to wait until Steam sends me the package?

You can buy it on steam right this moment and download it (will take a while-large game) and be playing it as soon as it downloads. Or you can buy one from the store tomorrow, install from disk and play it then. You can play right away as of midnight pacific-if your fownload is done by then. Not sure what the store version includes, but HL2 Silver includes, Half Life 2, Half Life (original),  Counter Strike: Source, Counter Strike (original), Day of Defeat: Source (coming soon) Half Life: Source (coming soon,), Condition Zero, Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes, Codename Gordon, Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat (original), Half Life Deathmatch (original), Opposing Force and Ricochet.

 Not bad for 60 bones.

Thanks for the info.  Steam it is.  Whoo hooo pacific time!

492  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Ever go to a concert by yourself? on: November 13, 2004, 06:39:37 AM
I went to see Radiohead early this year by myself for the same reasons and it didn't matter.  General Admission is the best way to go(don't know why you want to sit in a seat anyway  ) and once the music got going all else was forgotten.  I was there seeing one of my favourite bands and was glad that being alone didn't prevent me. Go for it, you'll be glad afterward for sure.  Hell, you'll be glad once you're there!

Well, this ones up for trade.

I played for about 8 hours.  I fell asleep during one of the "events" or cut scenes.  Last I checked the word "event" meant something was actually happening, but between the long pauses, and unnecessary repeating of just about everything said, my mind just couldn't take it anymore and totally shut down.  At one point I actually screamed at Fayt to shut the f@ck up and quit whining about the same thing over and over again.  Hes too irritating to follow.  If your main character was that first guy you picked up(what was his name?  Chud? Clod? Crom?) it would've been much better.  What is with Japanese RPG's having such weakling little runts as main characters? :x

Or do Fayts testes drop later in the game?

Other stuff about it was ok.  The voice acting was good as far as expression, but again, weak little prepubescent or helium filled voices. Jeez.  Graphics were pretty, and the integration of space/science/Symbology(magic) was done well enough.

Maybe I'm not giving it a chance but I cannot sit through anymore event scenes.  I really wanted to get back into using my PS2 with a good RPG bender, but this unfortunatly won't be it.

I'm now looking into Arc the LAd:ToS and Shadow Hearts:Covenant.  Maybe, just maybe, one of them will bring back the good ol' days of a FF level of immersion for me.

Of course, if I can't trade it I might get back to SO for a second go.  Who knows.

I just picked up the Latest Star Ocean release for PS2 after reading tons of glowing reviews.  I've only had a chance to play a tiny bit up to a battle simulation/tutorial but its looking good so far.  Its been a long while since I picked up anything for my PS2(I favour the PC).

For those of you who've played it , what did you think of it?

I'm looking to buy RTW as I've heard enough to make me want to buy it.  My question is how it will perform on my P4 1.7G 756MB ram GF3Ti200.  I know there are whole armies to view and watch while zoomed in and am curious if anyone is having any stability problems?
520  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Should we carry over GoneGold trader feedback? on: October 17, 2004, 08:57:16 PM
I had 23+ trades at GG and would also like to see them carried over but  I share the same situation as the former Mooncalf with my name change.  I still have all the email addresses of those I traded with and can verify some names if necessary and hopefully someone can verify me as FishBulb/Ragnarok.  I like the idea of have a GG/CG number as its seems to be a good compromise.  Its allows those of us who built up a trade reputation at GG to keep that, as well as showing a new rep. here at CG.  It gives traders here the option to trust or not at their discretion.  Anyways I guess we'll see what can be done(if it hasn't been done already as I post this).
