Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Any good mods out there for Gal Civ II(w/o expansions)?
|
on: January 15, 2008, 09:33:04 PM
|
|
I have the original GalCiv 2 and am looking for race/ship mods as well as any good gameplay mods that are for the original GalCiv2. Most of the mods I've found so far only work if you have Dark Avatar. I'm also looking for a good map creator/editor as well. Any suggestions? I'll probably get the expansions at some point but its not in the cards right now.

I have seen it at a couple of Targets in the $9.99 section a couple of times. Was a month or two ago though, but worth a look maybe.
I'm in Canada so Targets are out unfortunately. Buying isn't an option for me either at this time.

OK. I installed Startdock and updated to latest patch but original problem still exists. It could be a display problem but my vid card drivers are at their latest. Its not like its a particularly graphically demanding either.

Its been updated to v1.2. It will load the splash screen but when you hit play, a black screen appears in the upper left corner of the monitor and then it just freezes. WTF? I'm using win Xp, & a 7800GTX w/latest drivers.
Any help?

New one: "The dishes are done, man!" That'd be "Don't Tell Mom, the Babysitter is Dead" Hmmm...let's see. Another movie in my collection: "That's Cochrane, F.E., US Army." "Cochrane, F.E. What's the "F.E." stand for?" "Fuck Everybody." I believe that would be Blue Thunder? Good oldie. Mine; "We don't even care...wether or not we care."

nope, that's it. over and done with. just kidding There's going to be 3 more 16 episode seasons. That will be interesting to see. I wonder how they will be able to draw it out another 48 episodes? I hope that they can fill in answers for all of the unexplained things like the 'black smoke'.

I just finished season three tonight and have been glued to the compy screen for the last 6 hours watching the final episodes.
Is that it? Is there a season four? Please tell me there is (I have no cable, I snatch from the internet).
I assume by the end scene that Jack and Kate are in the future and have gotten off the island but have done it by leaving everyone else behind. Jack is not taking it too well, and Kate is getting by. I am already jonesing for another Lost fix and its only been an hour. If there is more there is hope for me, but if not...

Sounds like there's some kind of auto-level compensation going on. I'd go into the monitor options and turn off anything "auto" - auto color, auto level, noise reduction, black correction, etc. See if that helps.
Thanks for the advice. I guess its just the way it is . What a piece of $550 junk. Do not buy LG. Fortunately, the purchaser is sending us the receipt. It really is too bad. It was really thoughtful of mum-in-law, but I just can't watch different shades of black and call it entertainment.

After watching a few more movies, it seems to be the design. The tv simply drops the light level during dark scenes, the result being almost total blackness on the screen. I can't find any way to stop this. What a stupid and obvious design flaw. Screen goes light. Screen goes dark. Screen goes light. Screen goes dark. Screen goes light. Screen goes dark...

My wife and I just recieved an LG 20" LCD tv (#20LS7D) for a christmas gift to replace out aged 13" crt. We set it up and threw in a movie (Man on Fire WS) to give it a test run. Right away we realized that the picture is quite dark. The LCD backlight was set to max and the screen brightness can really only be adjusted so far before it simply causes black to turn white. We could barely see anyones face -particularly Denzels- during most of the movie. Ok that is the first thing, and maybe it was just the movie. What really got annoying however was during certain scenes that had lower light levels the whole screen would fluctuate between light levels, as if it was automatically changing power levels (low power adjust was set to 'off'). For example if it was night out and the scene was changing from a lit street to someone hiding in a dark alley, the tv would flick to an even darker setting in the alley until you couldn't see anything. Even the menu screen would go darker when I had it open during these scenes. I haven't found any settings that prevent this and the manual seems pretty usless for troubleshooting.
Anyone have on of these tvs or have come across a similar problem? I've never experienced anything like this on my PC monitor(though its a Samsung bnot LG) an am not sure what to do. If its going to be doing this all the time I'd rather have the 13"crt.

I'm replaying Oblivion right now and looking to expand on some quest content. I'm already running several other types of mods (Francescos, Natural habitat, Open cities, Rens NB pack) but am looking to get into some interesting exploring. Can anyone recommend a few?

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Bioshock activation query...

The word on the street is that the store bought game doesn't contain the main .exe file, among a few other very vital files. THIS is what the PC owners 'patch' when they try to install.
So, in short - unless you install somewhere you have a 'net connection (or get the missing files from somebody else), you're screwed.
So it sounds like I only need the internet for the initial install. I have a small window of opportunity that I can get my pc hooked up for a long enough period to do just that. There may be a chance yet.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Bioshock activation query...

on: August 23, 2007, 10:00:37 PM

...from someon without access to teh intraweb. I'm currently in transit on a cross country move and am going to be landing at a vacation cottage for a month starting sept. while we look for a place to live. The cottage has no internet access so I will only be able to play offline games. BUT I WANT TO PLAY BIOSHOCK NOW! Does it automatically load into my Steam account(I bought a box copy for pc)? If so I guess I'm screwed, but if anyone knows a workaround I have an email...

Damnhell, guess I need to upgrade. Things would be so much easier if devs would just learn to scale all games for exactly my pc specs. But they're too lazy and selfish! Agreed. AMD dual core 4400 2GB ram 7800gtx video card onbord sound(has always been good) Hmm.. this is the farthest I've fallen behind in recommended specs in a while. It should still run decently enough. It has to, damnit! An upgrade is a long way off.
